This is my go-to place for Boba when I've got a craving for some serious caffeine and sugar. Their menu provides an incredible amount of flavor and addition combinations and I've tried something new just about every time. While I can't say that I would order The Greg again ( I didn't love the combo of taro and coffee), everything else has been a hit! Their tiger tea is delicious and next time I definitely want to order something with a fruity boba. I know that I can ask the staff for their suggestions and come away with winners. Walking in and loving the vibe of the place. From the snack concession stand to the many games they have for anyone to play and enjoy; I would say the Jenga and Connect 4 are my classic picks as I enjoyed my boba. Cute and tasty drinks, but there are a few areas of improvement needed to bring it up to a five star experience. There are lots of creative and fun offerings here. I usually get the Thai coffee with coffee jelly, but I've gotten other drinks and they're always really good. I've also tried the egg bubble waffle with ice cream- amazing! The drinks come out quickly (but I might suggest going at a time that isn't right after school gets out, because it is VERY popular with the high school crowd and that can slow things down). The staff is very friendly, and they have cute merch to buy (I really want one of the infusion water bottles). Where they need some serious improvement is cleanliness in their seating area. Every time that I've been, the seating area is an absolute grungy disaster. All of the soft surfaces (carpets and seat cushions) are seriously stained from spills, there's frequently trash left on tables, spilled boba from one end of the store to the other (and kids stepping in it, like they were today), and the floors look like they haven't been cleaned in weeks. Fortunately, the area behind the counter where food is prepared looks very clean, so it's not a complete health hazard (and why I didn't rate them a three), but the dirty seating area makes me not ever want to drink my coffee there, which is a shame because the seating areas look comfortable. Hopefully management can with work the staff to make sure that the entire store is as clean as they keep the food prep area and bring it up to a five star experience! read more

I've been really hesitant to go out anywhere since COVID, but Num Num has done a great job ensuring social distancing with floor markers, all the employees wear masks or face shields, and there is hand sanitizer placed around the register. For the most part, almost all patrons are wearing masks but Num Num has been posting reminders that it is a requirement on their social media pages lately as well. My first time I tried the Hokkaido milk tea with brown sugar crystal boba. The tea was very good and while the crystal boba wasn't bad, I personally think I'm going to stick with my traditional tapioca pearls! My friends got the black tea milk tea with boba and the taro milk tea with boba. They said the black tea was exactly what she was hoping for and my other friend said the taro was a little sweet for her but was glad that they had the option to adjust sweetness in the future! The next time we got the black tea milk tea again, and two specials (these always come in the large size): the tiger milk tea, and the fresh strawberry milk tea both with boba. The black milk tea held itself up a second time, and the tiger milk tea tasted similar but with a nice caramel flavor. However, the fresh strawberry milk took the cake! The perfect level of sweetness, great fresh strawberry flavor, so refreshing during this hot summer weather! The also have several snacks from Pocky, chips, buns (I think from Honey Bakery), and the coveted and popular brown sugar boba ice cream bars! My only complaint that is keeping this from 5 stars is that their boba is very inconsistent. Between all the drinks we've gotten, some had clumpy boba, some were hard and undercooked, some were perfect, and some were mushy and sticky. Overall, I love that there's a place in Northwest Reno so it's closer to me, the aesthetic is so cute, and the staff is friendly especially given the circumstances! We frequent Num Num Boba a lot. I can't tell you how many stamp cards I've gone through. But we love coming here when we're out and about doing errands. My go to favorite is "Thai Tea Lemonade with Lychee Jelly". I'm not sure if they still make this, I haven't ordered it in awhile because they're always coming out with new drinks, and I just want to try them all. Boyfriends go to is between the "Tiger Milk Tea" (caramel rich taste from black sugar syrup and their premium brew tea $7) and the "Wake Up" (Matcha Milk Tea mixed with Thai Coffee on Ice with coffee jelly boba $7) Boyfriends Mom's favorite is the "Halo Halo" ( Taro milk tea blended with boba, egg pudding, red beans, coconut jelly $7.25) Every time we bring this home to her she gets all giddy. They also offer some food items. Crepe cakes, Macarons, Egg waffles, and Baked Buns, Along with a table display of different snacks. I've only tried the Baked Buns. I believe they only offer them on certain days, and they bake a limited amount so its first come first serve. I love the buns, I've tried them all. They have Teriyaki Chicken, BBQ Pork, Mushroom Chicken, and Curry Chicken. All are full of flavor and I highly recommend. My favorite one is the Curry (YUUUMMMM!) ... I walked in and the staffs are wearing their masks which is awesome. Inside you'll see a sweet hangout place with their cute two swing egg chairs. The vibe is pretty nice and chill. Have you ever walked into a store and just felt so invited by the atmosphere you just felt like you could move in? That's exactly how I felt when I walked into Num Num Boba for the first time. As someone who's a little newer to boba (took me a while to like the actual boba balls), sometimes I'm a little intimidated about what to order because I don't know what goes together or what's "right". I didn't feel that way AT ALL coming here, the staff was so friendly and helpful, and made me feel like I could ask them anything. They also had lots of suggestions posted, which I loved. I got the Mango Sticky Rice specialty drink and OH MY LANTA I was in heaven. I love the reusable bear cups that they sell. Not only are they more environmentally friendly, it's WAY more fun to drink boba out of a bear cup, and that's undeniable. They have fun hanging chairs for relaxing and longer conversations with friends, even a big Jenga set if you're feeling like playing some games. The decor is lighthearted, you can't help but smile when you walk in, and it helps me embrace my inner child. I just loved the vibe, but to fully understand it you'll just have to go visit for yourself. My only rue about Num Num Boba is that I don't live in Northwest Reno, but maybe that's a good thing because otherwise I would probably die by boba overload. Business: N/R Did not get to experience the operation. They were a little slow to procure our order but one of the two on staff was on break and things returned to a normal speed once they came back. No issues there. Cuisine: **** The one thing I did get to experience - the Mango Milk Tea! And the Taro Milk Tea! Both of them delicious. The Mango Milk Tea was ordered with 50% sugar, with boba, obviously, and the Taro as well - 50% sugar with boba. The drink was still pretty sweet for 50% which is mainly why I decided upon a four-star instead of a five. Sweetness aside, I could taste a lot of the fruit flavor and the boba added a nice finish to each fruity, milky, sip. I recently tried Num Num Boba for the first time this week! This shop is so unique with its decor and specialty waffles. They have a good variety of fruit and milk teas to choose from. I got their taro milk tea with boba and my husband got their watermelon fruit tea with boba. I wish I saw they had different levels of sweetness because mine was far too sweet and I preferred the watermelon over my taro milk tea. I don't understand what is the big hype with this place. The drinks are watered down and lack tea flavor. I was so excited that my friend told me this is one of the best boba places for Reno standard but I was far from impressed. Menu: Honestly it was all over the place and overwhelming. I really don't understand how they can have wintermelon fruit tea but they can't make wintermelon milk tea. Drinks: I originally requested a wintermelon milk tea because it's my to-go order. However, they didn't recommend me getting it because they use powder to make their drinks. Instead she said we can do a wintermelon drink with a sea salt creme. In my mind I was like okay they can make creme tops, how fancy! I also requested grass jelly for topping. I also ordered my brother a mango milk tea with boba. When I got my order, I looked confused. The girl that made my drink said it's jasmine milk tea with sea salt but it just sunk to the bottom. I never seen a creme top that disappeared that fast! I questioned and asked what happened to the wintermelon and both the lady that helped me and girl said it's added in as a powder. The jasmine tea was bland, I could barely take the wintermelon. You honestly don't even have to adjust the sweetness because my 100% tasted like a 50%. The grass jelly had no sweetness to it! It tasted like it was straight out of can. I would give this drink a 0/10!!! Mango milk tea boba: for these types of drinks I would recommend asking for 50-75% sweetness. Boba lacked flavor and the texture was inconsistent (some where chewy and others were hard). I say a 3/10 for the mango milk tea and 0/10 for the boba. Overall, super disappointed! This is the meal that my 16 year old wanted for his birthday. He didn't care about anything else he asked for Num Num Boba by name. So off we went.... When we arrived there were three folx working behind the counter and they seemed to be really busy but there was no one else in the place. It seems they have become super busy with delivery apps which is great. I had not had boba before so the nice person who was working the counter kind of gave me a walk through on how everything works. I went with a milk tea with regular boba. They were so kind and checked in about 3 times while I was drinking it to make sure i liked it and offered to make a different drink if i wanted them too. There was no need the drink was delicious. On our way out my boys convinced me that we should get some of their dessert waffles. Bananas and Nutella on a waffle? Yea!!!! It was sooooo good and 1 waffle will easily feed two people. I love to treat my self once in a while to a boba tea. I went to Num Num Boba because it is close to my work. As soon as I walked in I liked what I saw. The young man behind the counter was super friendly and helpful. Everyone had a mask on and it looked to be nice and clean. I asked what mixed well with almond milk and he offered several choices. I chose the taro with regular boba. It was not disappointing. It tasted as good as it looked. I've had a couple other boba drinks from other place and I do think that Num Num has the best choices. You can choose from a few milk choices, several types of boba from the popping to the chewy kind. They also offer a few special drinks which will vary from week to week. I ordered my friend the Blueberry Cheesecake and she really enjoyed it. The second time I went I chose strawberry almond milk with mango popping boba. Num Num has the most choices of popping boba I have seen. The only thing I wish would change is the hours. They do not open until noon and I usually get my lunch break at 1100 Oh, they also offer a punch card and after so many stamps on your card you will get a free one. Hands down still my favorite boba place in the area. I have always loved their milk teas and my favorite is the rose milk tea. However, from my most recent visit, I noticed a drink called butterfly rose tea. It's my usual drink with a twist and let me tell you.... it was such a delight! Sweetness level on all the drinks are adjustable and I get mine between 25 - 50% sweetness. I find this perfect because the flavors do not overpower the essence of the tea. Despite opening in the middle of a pandemic they are doing great. The menu is big but not overwhelming. There is a bit of everything so even if you are super picky, you will find something to enjoy. I especially love their specialty drinks although they are on the pricier side. My go to drink is the mango sweet rice. It is so so good and if you have not tried it, I highly recommend it. Num Num Boba is one of the few places I've found in NW Reno for bubble tea! They also have a location in South Reno. According to their Instagram, the South Reno location appears to have more treat options like their soft serve ice cream and teddy bear waffles. I've commented before to ask and have been told some items are only available at one location or the other. The NW Reno location does have egg waffles on their permanent menu and occasionally some treats like macarons and crepe cakes. Desserts aside, I mostly come here for the bubble tea! I like getting their fruit teas with classic boba. Some flavors can be pretty sweet, but you can order them less sweet. I have been here several times later in the day and they have run out of regular boba, so I have to change my order to something else. It can take a while to get your drink when they are busy, but if you come during non-peak hours it's a much quicker stop. There is seating both inside and out on the patio. Plenty of parking in a big lot that serves multiple businesses. Overall I do really like this place because they have unlimited flavor combinations and it is a unique place to come for something different than your typical coffee or tea! Give them a call or check their Instagram to see which location has the dessert you're looking for if you plan to visit for that reason just to ensure you don't go to the wrong one. Review #102 - 2020 I had this spot bookmarked prior to our mini getaway because it was new and had a few good reviews, some of which were a little too good to be true so I should've seen the sign that it was probably written by friends or family of the owners. The 7 of us showed up at around 6:20 PM on Saturday, June 13th. The place is very cute, but that's probably about all there is. We each ordered our drinks and I specifically asked if any of their drinks are made with fresh fruits and the guy told me that all their fruit drinks are made with fresh fruit, which was awesome! Much to my surprise, my avocado smoothie and my daughter's mango smoothie had a very strong powder taste so I told them that neither drinks tasted like fresh fruits & the lady, whom must have been the owner, told me that only their drinks on the smoothie list were made with fresh fruits. Thanks for the clarification! She told me if I wanted, I can tell her what I wanted the next time I come back, which will be a never-- since I only took two sips of my drink and tossed it at a gas station. My daughter hated her mango smoothie & refused to take a second sip of it so hers went in the trash as well! My son got the house milk tea, which is basically a Thai iced tea, and it was ok. You really can't mess up something that simple. My 11-year old niece got an Okinawa milk tea, which she also said tasted like Thai iced tea, which was very odd. My 15-year old niece got the cheese foam green tea & she said it was ok, but she wouldn't order it again. My two nephews got two different types of lemonade drinks, and they were the only two who said their drinks tasted like what they ordered. So, just as a mean joke, the next day before we left Reno, I asked the kids if anybody wanted a drink from Num Num for our drive back home and they all yelled, "Please no! SOOOOO happy I'm only 5 minutes away from Num Num Boba. I love boba and have been a fan of this drink for as long as I could remember. I went to get boba from this place over the weekend with friends and I already cannot wait to go back. I got the Green Tea Milk Tea blended with boba and honestly it reminds me to the boba tea I would get in Thailand, every day, when I visited there. The flavor of the drink is just so well rounded. It's creamy and not too sweet. The boba itself is soft and smooth. The whole drink was just a delight! I also took sips of the Taro Milk Tea and the Coconut Milk Tea and let me tell ya, those were delicious too!
