While I haven't been a patient of Dr Hsu's for almost two years, now, and ohhhh how deeply I miss…read moreher!, I felt that I needed to come here and write a review for her for the following reasons: 1) She deserves it! And I'm shocked to see that I'm the first person to review her! Good gracious, Dr Hsu is like... she's like the kind of doctor you pray you'll find. Warm, compassionate, understanding. She listens like no other. She spends time with her patients, doesn't rush them, takes thorough notes, thorough histories, and sets comprehensive plans! If you're not seeing Dr. Hsu, the only question you need to ask yourself (besides, "Did I fall on my head?") is, "Why not??!" 2) Having moved to Texas, I am deeply pained by how difficult it is to find an excellent GP. These doctors have more mood swings than all the cast for the entirety of the TV show Dallas! And that's saying... A LOT! What I wouldn't give for a doctor like Dr Hsu. What I wouldn't give for half a doctor like Dr. Hsu! Whether it's the bottom or the top, she's still running circles around these fools. =P 3) I don't know if I expressed it clearly enough, how much I appreciated her as my primary, before we moved away. For months after we left, she continued to prescribe a certain medication for me, a med that was difficult to find the right doctors for. Even though I'm sure it put her in a bit of a spot, she did it without hesitation or complaint. She did it because she wanted me to be okay. Because, as her patient, I came first. It's more than just an oath with Dr Hsu... which isn't to say that that's not enough or important to her, but it's just...she's more giving than she probably should be. That's no weakness, trust me. It's just that she's such an amazing person, it's really hard to put it all into words. If I had two hands full of sparklers, a line of fan dancers, an acoustic amphitheatre filled with rockin' classical, and a blimp overhead with a sign that read, "Dr. Jennie Hsu-Lumetta is the bestest doctor EVER," I still don't think I could do her justice. Sending her all my love from Austin!

Well, I wish I could keep my excellent score for this doctor but since I've come down with Celiac…read moredisease and some other complex health issues, he has seemed to have given up on me. He even told me that some of my issues were probably "psychological." I don't care for doctors who give me the "it's all in your head" lecture. Yes, some of these physical problems have caused some depression. But when doctors just ride it off as all "psychological," how can you not feel like a hypercondriac? However, he is still a very good doctor for many things, just not Celiac Disease. Unfortunately I can't recommend anyone in this town for Celiac Disease...I suggest going to Dr.Cupher in Chicago instead.

Dr. Bartlett is my idea of the ideal primary care physician for someone willing to take…read moreresponsibility for one's own health. First, he listens. Second, he pays attention to the patient's goals and values. For example, I hate waste and despise pharmaceutical profiteering. He prescribes generics for me; we never do a test, no matter how amusing or interesting the result might be, unless that result could lead to some actual action. We agree to keep "doctoring" to a minimum. He stood by me as I tried diet and exercise to reduce arterial blockage and avoid arterial surgery: it worked. I am no longer a candidate for surgery: that avoided $20,000 in expense and a 3% risk of stroke from the surgical procedure itself. Bartlett keeps up on the literature; he knows results from the latest research. He is a true partner who listens, thinks, and then makes candid, useful suggestions. Andrew Bartlett is not your father's doctor, who played the role of the god who can fix whatever mess you got yourself into. Bartlett is a partner who helps you keep yourself out of trouble -- and out of the clutches of the self-appointed-gods-of-medicine (surgeons). Unless, of course, you absolutely need one.

When I called the office to reschedule the agent told me there is no appointment available. I tried to clarify with her hat stattement, is there any thing availbe in the next few months? and she replied with the same answer: there is no appointment available at all. - If this office does not want to take new patient they could say so. Pushy and impatient to say the least, and a malpractice waiting to happen. I had an IUD placed and Dr. Trupin was in a hurry to get to a birth so rushed the entire thing. Terrible bedside manner. There was no prior discussion on pain management (my first IUD& I have no kids) and had no idea what to expect. I called ahead and asked if I should take anything to help and was told no and that it would just be a pinch. It was the worst pain in my life. The Dr rushed off to her birth without a word and I literally passed out from the blinding pain. They literally did nothing for me and left me in the room. I was left by myself after passing out from the pain. I eventually came to, still in the worst pain, put my clothes on, and as I was walking out the nurse just said "Glad you're feeling better" Additionally, I also had a colposcopy done and the notes were full of errors that they didn't bother to correct saying "Oh sorry for the typo, this ____ actually means this ____" They are a malpractice suit waiting to happen if they haven't been sued already. Had I had this experience being older and wiser now I would have lawyered up after my experience with them. Run, don't walk away from this place.

Nice man but very misinformed about Celiac Disease. Although he was correct in his diagnosis (he…read morewas also the one who performed the endoscopy), he told me that I could cheat every once and awhile and have some regular bread, or cake, etc. BAD advice! You are NEVER supposed to cheat while on the gluten free diet, unless you are on it for non-medical reasons (some people are doing this diet right now because it's "trendy"). I also heard that he wouldn't perform an endoscopy for another patient with Celiac Disease because she was "too old" to have Celiac Disease. She was in her mid fifties. That is another common misconception about CD: that you will grow out of it. Anyway, he did do a decent job with the endoscopy and has a pleasant demeanor, so I owe that to him.

He told my mother that had accompanied to the the procedure. I had to figure out what ulceritive colitis was on my own. Thanks? A couple of months later, I was informed that my insurance decided not to cover the bill. Great! So his office contacted me demanding full payment soon after. A couple grand all at once? Yeah right! I made about 200 bucks a week, and had a baby to raise at the time. I offered to make payments of 100 a month, they refused that offer. That's when the daily calls started. Wheres our money? Wheres our money? I offered all I could afford at the time. Not good enough!! They threatened to take me to court, I said "please do". Months later and credit ruined (Thanks), we settled on 50 bucks a month through court. Smh! Now it's over a decade later, it still comes back to haunt me. My dermatologist calls his office to ask about my colitis. She comes back and ask me "what did you do to him?" I say "what do you mean"? She said "the people at his office got really rude as soon as I mentioned your name. Really? You've been paid off for a very long time. Then I was referred to a gastrologist in Decatur a few years back. I told him that Dr. Patel had diagnosed, but he doesn't care for me much I guess. He asked why I told him about the whole thing. Before I even finished my story, he got super defensive. He said "Dr, Patel was a good friend of his, and would never do such thing.". Ok pal! He then started being so rude that I left, (mid visit) in tears. So I would really love it if he could move on, and stop ruining any chance I have at finding any decent care here in Central IL. That would be great! You've been paid, get on with your life, and let me get on with mine! Thanks
