I had an appointment as a new patient for a OBGYN visit. However, my schedule changed and due to an upcoming business trip I had to change the appointment. When I called the office to reschedule the agent told me there is no appointment available. I tried to clarify with her hat stattement, is there any thing availbe in the next few months? and she replied with the same answer: there is no appointment available at all. - If this office does not want to take new patient they could say so. Saying there is no appointment available at all is not helpful and is a waste of time for everyone. read more

I do not give negative reviews lightly But I lived in Chamabana for a number of years and I had my worst gynecological experiences here. Pushy and impatient to say the least, and a malpractice waiting to happen. I had an IUD placed and Dr. Trupin was in a hurry to get to a birth so rushed the entire thing. Terrible bedside manner. There was no prior discussion on pain management (my first IUD& I have no kids) and had no idea what to expect. I called ahead and asked if I should take anything to help and was told no and that it would just be a pinch. It was the worst pain in my life. The Dr rushed off to her birth without a word and I literally passed out from the blinding pain. They literally did nothing for me and left me in the room. I was left by myself after passing out from the pain. I eventually came to, still in the worst pain, put my clothes on, and as I was walking out the nurse just said "Glad you're feeling better" Additionally, I also had a colposcopy done and the notes were full of errors that they didn't bother to correct saying "Oh sorry for the typo, this ____ actually means this ____" They are a malpractice suit waiting to happen if they haven't been sued already. Had I had this experience being older and wiser now I would have lawyered up after my experience with them. Run, don't walk away from this place. read more

I don't make negative reviews ever, but this needs to be shared. My past experience with this practice left me looking for second options. I asked 4 times about symptoms I was having and was ignored. I was told my unusual and sometimes painful symptoms were normal and a part of being a woman and passed off like nothing was wrong. Luckily I sought a second option and wound up needing surgery. If I hadn't sought a second opinion, I may have ended up with cancer. No matter what, unusual spotting and pain are never normal and should be treated with concern by your doctor. This Clinic does not listen to you, does not care, just wants your insurance for your annual and send you out the door. read more

My first negative review of any establishment, ever. When it comes to birth control and mental health medication, two things I need regularly in my routine, the entire staff's incompetence (including Trupin) has proved extremely apparent. I do not recommend this place to anyone, ever, especially not those who need kindness and empathy when visiting a specialist. Here is a list of my experiences at Women's Health Practices that have deemed it completely unsuitable for healthcare and mental health recovery. 1. Forgetting my appointments (I called Dr. Trupin herself, scheduled, and she did not write me into the schedule. The staff had no idea I was supposed to come in and my time was wasted) 2. Refusing to give me a time window in which they will call for E-Health. They said, "we can't give you the time window but we will try sometime today" even though I had originally been booked for in-person at 11:15AM, so they should have just been able to switch to virtual. They called me 2 hours later than my original appt window. 3. Forgetting to refill my prescriptions upwards of 6 times. I am on Zoloft and constantly have to remind, and re-confirm that the prescriptions have been faxed to CVS. 4. Ignoring the state of urgency with my medication. I was told I am "acting very entitled on the phone" simply for mentioning my negative experience with customer service, and the unacceptable confusion surrounding my medication. 5. Constantly blaming customers for any issues, gaslighting, and bending truths: Today, I was told that my prescription indeed was sitting at CVS, and I said I had just called and confirmed that there was absolutely nothing waiting for me. The doctor on the phone blamed me for not "knowing" that it was there despite countless check-ins, questions, and effort on my part to have transparency. - Rude front desk staff, impatient, negative, and condescending tone when answering. I genuinely am against leaving negative reviews but in this case I feel it is vital because it might protect someone with more severe issues than me in their time of need. Thanks for reading. read more

They are way too pushy about their cosmetology services. I also don't think this is a good place for anyone outside their version of normal. Dr. Trupin was very argumentative and I felt like I was having to fight with her to defend my birth control and reproductive choices. read more

I went to see Dr. Trupin for breast pain. She brushed that off and immediately launched into a sales pitch for weight loss services and products. She wanted me to get monthly injections for weight loss. She asked me "Do you just not like exercising?" Dear lord woman, I work out every day! She honestly spent 45 minutes trying to persuade me that I need to lose weight. I asked her what the health benefits would be, and she brushed me off again, saying, "oh there are lots of studies". She presented me with a chart of my weight gain. I could hear her talking about me with someone before I was called back. Ive been seeing her for 14 years but I am DONE and have switched doctors. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Trupin for years now. Her staff that's been with her for years are awesome and efficient. There is no better doctor in Womens Health in the Champaign area. There is times where yes you have to wait, but isn't it like that everywhere else? At least here it may be 10 minutes vs 30-55min at places like Carle. You also do get personalized care, and she remembers you! At times yes she is busy, but that is understandable and I still get the best care. Doctors AND staff are busy people; between seeing patients, emergencies, and procedures they are lucky to have 15min to eat. I never have had issues with my prescriptions or appointments. The whole office has been flexible when needed. This is a true Women's Health Clinic. It definitely covers all my health concerns, even to the extent of cosmetics, skin care, and now yoga! I am female. I am concerned about my body weight, my skin due to aging, my stretch marks, etc. It is nice that it is all accessible at one place. I am not sure about all those negative comments posted, but offices sometimes do mess up. As for billing, I find this office to be reasonably priced unlike Carle. Just double check and really understand your insurance and you will be fine. Understand that some procedures may require a Prior Auth from your insurance, and the office is not to be blamed for that. Props to the office for double checking for the patient. Oh, and lastly at least this office you can actually easily contact and do not get bounced around! read more

I went there because my mom recommended her as a temp dr for me since I had to flee feom Irma and have several health issues. She was rude to me. When I asked questions she just left me and told me to go. She didn't want to perform tests on me because she assumed I couldn't pay for them even though I am insured. She also did not listen to me or even remember the first visit we had the week before and wondered why i brought urin in with me. Duh she asked me to. She also did not go through my medical chart that I took to her to help her understand why I was there. And for those who say she knows her stuff, she doesn't. I've visited more drs and specialists in the past 15 years than she's probably met her whole life and i know when i dr knows their stuff. She doesn't. She's also visited with drug reps several times a day. That's a bad practice. I didnt see that in iowa or Florida. Sometimes at other drs in Illinois but not as often as i saw the 2 times at this drs. Makes u wonder why she pushes what she pushes. One last thing. The first visit I was given a blood test for a special study. When I went in the next time I'd forgotten about why it was taken and asked the dr and she said it was for my cortisol levels which were low. She later corrected herself saying they were on the low end of normal. Then I got home and mom reminded me why my blood was actually drawn as she had been with for that first visit so where did the cortisol levels come from and why didn't the dr even remember what the blood draw was for. Had she even looked at the earlier chart? I don't know what my blood was actually used for now. read more

If I could rate this center less than one star, I would give it a zero. On Monday, April 29, 2009, I came in to have an Intra Uterine Device (IUD) put in by Dr. Suzanne Trupin, the head doctor at women's health practice. -(Rude) When Trupin entered the room where I was waiting for her, she didn't bother to introduce herself or ask me for my name. -(Ill Service) The nurse practitioner (JoAnn) didn't counsel me on the benefits and cons of both types of IUD's (the way I expected), and I felt somewhat rushed through the questions regarding my health. -(Ill Service) A few minutes later when the procedure was starting, Trupin, JoAnn, and a second nurse practitioner came in, and the latter looked at my lower body and gave me a disapproving look, making me feel inadequate and shamed to try to get their services. Then, Trupin looked at my face and loudly remarked "Girrrrl! You're breaking out!", in a most tactless and insensitive way. I was not there to treat my skin, so why would my skin be of any concern to her? During the procedure, Trupin was careless and insensitive. She dealt with me as if I were one of her plastic models. -(Insensitive) When she was done, she simply left the room without *even* saying "bye" or "get rest". -(being rushed out of the room) I was in so much pain, I could not sit due to the harsh procedure, and still, after 15 minutes, I was being rushed out by a blonde middle-aged nurse who entered the room, and without even bothering to ask me if I needed, she put a cold paper towel against my forehead and rambled about how I should go home. When we needed Trupin for an emergency, she was gone for the weekend, and no one in her office could see me, they claimed, so I had to go Carle's Emergency Room for the pain. -(playing phone tag with customers) Then a few days after that, I was bleeding profusely from the area where the procedure was made, and we called Trupin's office and asked them to have a nurse call back and NO NURSE CALLED BACK THE WHOLE DAY, we had to play "phone tag" with them all day long to *finally* speak to JoAnn, one of the practitioners, who had a lousy excuse about their computers being down, trying to excuse their incompetence. She was unable to answer my questions, and overall responded with "I don't know". -(SECRET CHARGES made) Later, we learned that Women's Health Practice was charging us for an additional Pregnancy Test, which we never requested. They kept it secret from us during our consultation! ***Overall, Women's Health Center and Dr. Trupin's service was remarkably rude, impersonal, tactless, and wholly without care of a miserable shred of the patient's well being neither during the procedure nor after. *** In addition, the staff at the center were dishonest and unhelpful and unknowledgeable. I have nothing positive to say, as a 21-yr old female patient, about this place. If you are a woman or you have a female partner whom you care for, don't bother stepping into this door, They will rip you off. In fact, that's what a Dr. at Carle remarked to me when I told him this story. I feel traumatized by her lousy service and inexistent care for patients. She is eccentric, in-your-face, childish, and wholly without care of her patients. Her staff also echoes her same attributes. Don't bother coming here, you'll regret it! _ _ _ _ Latest addition: as if this wasn't bad enough, I have learned that Women's Health Practice is charging me for an appointment I never made.. I just checked my phone's mailbox and realized that they left a message saying they were going *to sign me up* for an appointment, and WITHOUT MY CONSENT they claim I placed it, and are now charging me for it. Yet another excuse for robbing patients of their money! Suzanne Trupin is abusive, careless and her staff is ignorant and rude. Take it from an unlucky patient. read more

I am a student at the U of I and I typically go to McKinley for my health needs. I decided to venture out and try Women's Health Practice since I saw an ad for the practice on the Daily Illini's website. I visited the website and was impressed. I also liked that they weren't shy that they provide abortion services. I greatly admire doctors who provide abortion services and I admire the ones who don't mind hiding that they provide this procedure. I visited Dr. Trupin for a routine pap in order to get a refill for my birth control. Dr. Trupin came in and was very nice, listened to my concerns, and all that jazz. Then came time for the exam. I'm sitting in the chair, preparing myself for the exam and the first thing out of Dr. Trupin's mouth is about the facial hair on my chin and my acne. Uhm, I came for a pap and a prescription for birth control-not a consultation on my skin. I was very put off by this. So, Dr. Trupin goes into a little spiel about how I should get this checked out and how they offer skin services at Women's Health Practice. I couldn't get the exam done because of personal issues and Dr. Trupin asks, "You have sex, don't you?" in a way that made me uncomfortable. She just ASSUMED the exam would be easy if you have heterosexual sex. Well, I don't have heterosexual sex and I would think any gynceologist worth their salt would know better than to assume all of their patients are heterosexual or engage in sexual intercourse. I felt pressured to hear the whole sales pitch by her staff regarding the skin services they offer so I consented to hear the whole pitch. I had my blood drawn for some service they offer where it can tell you a bunch of stuff such as your cholesterol levels, estrogen levels, Vitamin D levels, etc. Thankfully I am covered by a health insurance company that covered the service because the blood test was around $3,000 according to the statement my insurance company sent me. If you have the money for skin care services and want to get a pap smear and some facial treatments done, be my guest. If you just want gynecological services in a low-pressure environment, go elsewhere. I ended up making an appointment with McKinley and had a wonderful experience. read more

Avoid at All Cost: Incompetent at Getting Rx Filled, Insensitive As soon as you walk in the office, you see an ad for liposuction and similar services depicting a normal looking middle aged female body in the 'before' pictures. The first impression is that they want to make you feel bad about your body. Their priority is not women's health, it's making women feel bad about themselves so they buy elective procedures. Next, I needed prenatal vitamins sent to a nearby pharmacy. They messed up which pharmacy and it went to the wrong one, delaying my care. I had to call their office and 2 pharmacies to fix it. Then I called for a refill on that same set of vitamins. They messed this up, too. This time they refilled extremely expensive supplements I've never seen or taken in my life and NOT what I asked for. Now I have to deal with the pharmacy and their office AGAIN to fix THEIR mistakes. They also never got back to me about the results of genetic testing. I had to call them after 5 days had passed since the results would have been returned. They didn't care that I was worried about birth defects for nearly a week unnecessarily. When I called, they had the results already and had no excuse for why they never bothered telling me what they are. Everyone knows waiting for test results is extremely stressful. They don't prioritize patients' time, don't care that their mistakes delay care, and stock their office with images that are insensitive to women. Never ever go here. They are disrespectful of patient time and needs and incompetent at filling basic prescriptions. I went here for 4 visits. Never going back. read more
I've been going to WHP for about 4 years now. They aren't all together bad, but there are some things that I've learned about that office that people should be aware of before they decide to go here. Dr. Trupin is flighty. She's a whirlwind. Every time I've gone in, she opens the door and plops down on a chair and right away starts talking. No introducing, just starting in on the symptoms and what you might have. She's blunt and quirky, but she will listen to you if you tell her what you need or want. You just have to be forthright. It's almost like she's borderline Asbergers or something. And since she's involved with HADA and waaaaay into skin care and other crazy treatments, she'll push it on you. Just tell her no thanks and that you are just fine the way you are. Once you get past all of that, she actually IS a good doctor and has done a lot for the women in this community. The office staff is okay. Polite for the most part, but can sometimes rub you the wrong way. You'll also need to call them instead of wait for them to call you. Even when you have tests done, YOU need to call them. They're just not on top of calling people back and following up with their patients. The ultrasound techs have been nice and they flobotamists have been really nice too, so that's a plus. All in all, go here if you feel you are a strong enough personality to put up with a flighty, blunt, but well-meaning doctor who DOES know her sh*t about women's issues. Go here especially if you know that certain things run in your family that could cause issues with pregnancy, periods and other woman issues. If you handle them right, you'll find out what you need to know. read more

This was also the worst medical experience of my life. My first contact with their office was when I called to schedule an IUD consultation and insertion. The receptionist with whom I spoke told me that I would be able to get the IUD inserted in the same appointment as the consultation. I double checked that she was sure about this, since they were scheduling several months out and I wanted to schedule the insertion appointment at that point if it required two appointments. She assured me that the insertion and the consultation happen on the same day. I was very nervous about the procedure, so I took the day off of work. My boyfriend also took the day off in case I needed moral support or post-insertion care. I got a single Valium pill from my general practitioner to help get me through the procedure, and took it ahead of the appointment. When I got there, the nurse told me that they do insertions and consultations as separate appointments, and that they order IUDs for patients ahead of time so there was no way I could get it done. I was quite upset, given the adjustments I had made to get the procedure done that day, which I told the nurse. She said that she would check to see what they could do. I was then left alone in the exam room for upwards of 45 minutes. She came back in and told me that they would give me an IUD that had been reserved for someone else. I had two or three clarification questions about what to expect with an IUD based on the research that I had already done, and it was clear that she did not know the answers, but she answered the questions anyway (with obviously incorrect answers). As other reviewers have noted, Dr. Trupin's bedside manner is terrible. She made me feel as if I was an inconvenience to her and commented that doing my IUD procedure was taking time away from her other patients. When they inserted the IUD, it was so painful that I flinched involuntarily and squeezed the hand of the nurse. She yelled, "OW!," glared at me, and told me that I had hurt her. Dr. Trupin said, "You moved too much, so it may have perforated your uterus," and they both walked out, rather than talking to me about the implications of this. I started crying because I was upset and in pain. I asked the nurse who stayed to please get my boyfriend from the waiting room, and she refused. She then asked me why I was crying rather than offering any comfort or support to me. As if this wasn't bad enough, their office staff called to berate me because I told my insurance the date that I got the procedure done. Since they gave me someone else's IUD, they wanted me to lie to my insurance agency about the date of the procedure. The staffperson was incredibly condescending and rude to me about the fact that I had not lied. Generally, the staff members with whom I interacted were, to varying degrees, misinformed, disorganized, unprofessional, uncompassionate, and potentially even unethical. Since my own experience, I have heard similar experiences from friends- I have never met anyone who had a good experience here. They should be ashamed that they offer such poor service to women on such sensitive health issues. read more

The only reason I'm not rating lower is because the ladies at the front desk and the Physicians Assistant are extremely nice and helpful. I thought I liked Dr. Trupin. I liked how she didn't do small talk and got to the point. However, that changed today. I went in for fertility treatments. When 3 rounds of Clomid didn't work, we were gonna do an SIS test. Well I was sitting on the exam table and then was told that Dr Trupin was refusing to see me if I could not pay my full bill up front. I only owe 800 and have been paying 200 on it monthly, so this wasn't a matter of me not paying. I was told this is not their usual procedure and they didn't know why she was throwing a fit. Apparently this is something new she has started and won't see anyone for fertility unless their whole bill is paid off. She is literally holding my fertility hostage, even when I have been paying my bill. She is a money hungry jerk that I refuse to see anymore. Please do yourself a favor, and go literally anywhere else if you're looking for fertility help. She puts up a facade of helpfulness, only to dash it all down when you're at your lowest. As if being infertile wasn't enough.... read more

This place is not so great. Although some of the people working there were really nice and helped me out, the office staff are totally incompetent, not to mention rather rude. They are terrible about not returning phone calls, overcharging for appointments, mixing things up, etc. And often you have to wait forever and when you ask them what's going on, they just treat you like a nuisance. Once I got a laparoscopy and I was supposed to get another procedure but that was never done because another patient was hemmoraging and Dr.Trupin had to attend to their needs because they were having more of an emergency. Fortunately, I was never charged for the non-existent procedure, but they should have done what they told me they would do. Not an excuse. Also, the appointments are very expensive. read more

I respect the open access your clinic has. I was able to be seen within days of my request. Appropriate labs were ordered, my voice was heard, and I am feeling like there is light at the end of the tunnel for me. I appreciate the staff in this clinic. New challenges in my life lately with hormones, anxiety and weight gain. It can become frustrating. The worst medical appointment of my life was here at Women's Health Practice. I had initially emailed Dr. Trupin regarding a prior medical condition and because she is regarded in the community as an excellent doctor, I wanted to speak with her personally. After communicating over email, I set up an appointment at her request for what I thought would be an exam. Upon arrival, I waited in the waiting room for one hour with no explanation of what was going on. During that time, a woman who was contemplating an abortion came in and out. The front office staff were speaking quite liberally about her situation, which left me feeling very stunned and disgusted. Issue number one of many. Once someone finally did come and get me, they brought me into Dr. Trupin's office where they asked me for a basic overview of sexual history, etc. "Fine," I thought, "I just hope they hurry up because I need to go back to work!" No one ever came in and asked me to change for what I thought was going to be my exam. Finally, after 45 minutes (I was very concerned about my situation, which is why I stayed instead of going back to work) Dr. Trupin walks in without any apology for her delay. She pounces down in her chair and I ask her about my medical concern. She answers my question very briefly, and then continues on by telling me that what I should be worried about in the future--and specifically related to childbirth--is my weight. This in and of itself is not inappropriate, but starts giving me examples of all of the really bad food she assumed I am eating (because overweight people enjoy the taste of ramen, mayonnaise and instant mashed potatoes 100% of the time. It is a FACT.). I explained that I do not think that this is my problem necessarily, and I would prefer to talk about the thing that I am actually concerned about. Well, tough cookies for me, because then she starts talking about (and I am paraphrasing) how I should take Alli and I shouldn't eat McDonalds because it will make me "leaky." I. Wanted. To. Die. I also told her that that was not happening. Increasingly I became more uncomfortable, although this woman who is too in love with herself is too oblivious to tell, so she sends in a nurse who specializes in medical studies at their practice. At this point my heart is in my stomach, and I explain to the nurse that I am not doing any studies, or taking Alli, and eating mashed potatoes is not my problem. She is not hearing it. She gives me a food journal and reiterates the importance of not eating ramen, and that Women's Health Practice has some weight loss programs that I could be involved with. I finally told her I had to go and after three hours of hell, finally left. I am never letting a medical practice walk all over me like this again. It seems to me that this is a practice that is much more interested in getting people involved in their research/studies, than they are in doing actual medical exams that can give patients peace of mind. I am never going back here again. It truly was my worst experience with a medical practitioner ever. read more

I'm excited to know I can "yelp" about this...I would hate for anyone whatsoever to go through anything I went through, I wish I could give it zero stars. The place seems inviting but it's far from being a warm, safe, friendly environment of a doctors office. The receptionist, while not so "outright" rude to me but to many others I witnesses coming and going. They gossip and whisper about the patients constantly, especially as I witnessed, if you don't really have any money and might be seeking help... They are pretentious and down right rude. My own personal experiences have more to do the doctor herself. The most horrible bedside manner, with no real care about what she's doing, waiting times are horrendous. Knowing my allergies, she carelessly and thoughtlessly prescribed my something with my allergen in it!!! It would have been a nice heads before I popped a couple of the pills to have known that or have been consulted about the drug itself. Worst thing was, after paying for the drug I was clearly allergic too, I still had to pay for it and a new RX, something I wasn't allergic too! They wouldn't pick up the cost of the drug they should have never prescribed me and I had zero use for! One top of all that let's think about our insurance and co-pays, I should have never had to go back for another out of pocket visit! Her practice is a joke and her skin business is too, very unprofessional with a careless "get'em in, get'em out" attitude. Funny thing is, I initially chose this clinic to look for a more personal doctor/patient experience outside of a big "hospital setting"... I can't imagine how much more awful I would have been treated if I was a young, desperate, uninsured woman... I've witnessed a lot with those horrendous waiting times. You can't not notice it as everything echoes from their front desk. Do yourself a favor, Do not put yourself through misery at this place! read more

I started going to the Women's Health Practice over 2 years ago, and at first I was nervous because of all the negative reviews. However this was one of the only places covered under my insurance so I decided to go anyway. I met with the PA, Megan Craig, and loved her! I got Nexplanon put in and she made it so easy and pain free. I have been coming back ever since then for my annual check ups and today I decided I wanted to change my birth control because the Nexplanon was no longer agreeing with my body. She walked me through all of my choices and helped me make a decision about what was next. I love that she doesn't push anything on you and helps you make your own decision, which is different from my past experiences. They are always so timely and see me almost immediately when I get there. So happy i didn't let the bad reviews scare me away from such a great practice! read more

I agree with some of the other reviews. Dr. Trupin is a wacko. I was there for an annual pap, and she starts talking about my skin and how benefecial facial peels would be. Same way as other reviewer said "girrrrl, your face is looking blotchy..." and then trying to sell me on her peels. I was there for a freakin pap! And my face looked fine by the way. Secondly, as some other reviews pointed out, they bill incorrectly and so it ends up being a huge pain working it out with insurance. The billing dept at Trupin's (esp Tonya) is incompetent and rude. read more

I was referred to Dr Trupin by another doctor who said she did the Mona Lisa Treatment for vaginal dryness. Dr Turpin is always in a rush and obviously doesn't have time to review her patients history or her notes (if she took any) because I had three visits and she never seemed to know if it was my 1st time or 3rd time. Pushed skin care on me every time. Third treatment she was so aggresssive and hurt me several times and I told her so. She didn't seem the least bit concerned. Whatever she did the third time hurt me terribly. She has caused permanent damage to me and I have been in pain ever since. I had also mentioned that down the road I would consider the cool sculp so she sends in someone to talk to me about it. As soon as the girl found out it would be at least six months down the road before I would have the money she slams closed her book and abruptly storms out of the room with not another word. Horrible place. All about making money! I am surprised no lawsuits have been filed yet, but I may be the first! read more

I have been going to Women's Health Practice for a few years for my annual exam. Just dealing with a nurse practitioner, everything was fine. In and out with no issues. I had only met Dr. Trupin once, and she lectured me on how overweight I was and that I needed to lose 70 lbs, and that she had some medication that could help me with it. I should have known then. Now, I am pregnant and decided to continue going here. What a mistake. This is my first pregnancy, and like a lot of pregnant women, I have a lot of questions. Not once has Dr. Trupin ever asked me how I was feeling or if I was having any issues. I have only had 1 blood test from here, but at two different appointments, she read me the results of the same blood test. One of my monthly appointments, they didn't even check for the baby's heartbeat, which means I went two months not knowing if my baby even had a heartbeat, or a healthy one. I made an ultrasound appointment, since they only schedule them for Mondays and Wednesdays, and brought my family along with me so they could hear the heartbeat and see the baby. I was also told I was going to have some testing done for Down's Syndrome. We all walked into the office, Dr. Trupin ran in, said the ultrasound tech had decided to take vacation and that they should have called me to reschedule, but didn't. Then she decided to inform me that I was too far along for the testing anyway, by a few days, so it didn't really matter. We would just do an ultrasound at another time. Well, my mother, who had traveled to hear the heartbeat, was not having any of that and demanded an ultrasound. (She's a lot more forward than I am!) We ended up having an ultrasound 1 1/2 hours later, by someone who seemed like it was an inconvenience for them, when it was supposed to be such a happy time for myself and my family. Needless to say, I have cried after every single appointment. I am now in the process of changing doctors, halfway through my pregnancy. Luckily, I found another doctor who would take me in, but only after receiving my paperwork from Women's Health Practice. This is another issue. It has been over a week, and still no paperwork. And it is going to cost over $30 to get the paperwork. A few months ago, It took 2 weeks to get FMLA paperwork signed and returned (which cost $25). This office is so unorganized. I am so disgusted with my experiences with this office and Dr. Trupin. This should be one of the greatest times in my life so far, and her and her team have made me miserable. read more

In October of 2009 I called an made an appointment complaining of pain, rectal bleeding, swelling, and being unable to go to the bathroom. The person who took notes in the exam room and the Dr. were more interested in giving me a pap smear since it had been a while since I had one. I waited in the waiting room an hour before they even took me to an exam room. During the exam the Dr. felt around my pelvis and my swollen rectum...which put me into tears. She said I need something to help my blockage problem and something for hemorrhoids and pain...and to come back in a couple weeks. Before the 2 weeks were up I called the office and told the nurse(?) that I could not even get the medicine in my rectum...she said I could go to the ER or give it a little more time. I went to my 2 week follow up appointment and the Dr. took all of 4 to 5 minutes to look at my rectum and told me I needed to see a surgeon to have the hemorrhoids removed...she would get contact a surgeon she uses. I waited in the exam room for another 15 minutes after I was dressed and a nurse brought me an Rx for pain meds. I asked her about the surgeons...she said she didn't know anything about but she would check. She finally brought me a phone number and said the surgeon wasn't in, but I could call him or whom ever I wanted. I left after paying her again with nothing but pain. I got hold of the surgeon she had suggested (A WONDERFUL PERSON -DR. THOMPSON)!!! He took one look at my growth, even before touching me and asked if Dr. Trupin had physically checked me...I said yes. He did his exam and sat down with me to tell me I have strong signs of rectal cancer and that he could feel growths in my lymph nodes in my right pelvis area. He had me feel that area and I COULD FEEL LUMPS. THIS WAS 4 DAYS AFTER MY 2nd SO CALLED EXAM BY DR. TRUPIN. DR. Thompson took me and my husband over to the hospital within the hour to help get set-up for outpatient surgery to see if there was indeed cancer. I called Dr. Trupin's office while I was sitting in the hospital and asked to talk to the Dr. I got to talk to a nurse or someone. I told her where I was and what Dr. Thompson had found. She told me that I had told the Dr. I had hemorrhoids...I TOLD HER I WAS NOT A DOCTOR...I HAD TOLD HER MY PROBLEMS..and THE DOCTOR SHOULD BE THE ONE TO DETERMINE WHAT I HAD. Dr. Trupin still hadn't even given me the results of my pap smear! I HAVE RECTAL CANCER. I WOULD NOT RECOMMENED DR. TRUPIN TO ANYONE AND I TELL EVERYONE ABOUT HOW TERRIBLE HER SERVICES ARE AND HOW LITTLE SHE REALLY CARES ABOUT PEOPLE!!! read more

What a frustrating and expensive experience! I wanted to have an IUD inserted at the Women's Health Practice, and I'd heard great things about Dr. Trupin from a friend who had her IUD inserted there. It took me about 2.5 months to even get in for a consultation. Eventually, Nov. 11, 2010, the day of my consultation, arrived-- and immediately upon arriving at the office (at 9:15 am) the receptionist took my insurance information and I was charged $167. I paid, although I didn't know exactly what I was paying. A little later, I thought it was a mischarge for an exam, because for some reason the nurse thought I was there for an exam as well as an IUD consultation. My appointment was for 9:30. I wasn't called back into the office until 9:45, which wasn't a terribly long waiting time. But all that happened was getting my medical history and vital signs checked by a nurse. The nurse then brought me some pamphlets and I was then left in an office for well over half an hour before Dr. Trupin walked (or rather, burst) in. Maybe she's been reading these reviews here, because she did introduce herself and she did make an effort at small talk (though that's including a few statements I'd consider unprofessional). She then told me a little about the IUDs. However, I only managed to get in a couple questions before Dr. Trupin stood up to leave! I was taken aback, because I wasn't done asking my questions. I got a couple more in before she left-- during my last question, she literally had her hand on the door handle. I understand she's a busy doctor, but especially after waiting so long, I expect to be treated with at least pretend attention. Then another nurse (Jill) came in a little while later, to order my IUD. She ended up calling my insurance even though the front desk had already done so, to make sure that the IUD would be covered. I appreciated that, although it'd be nice to have better communication between the front desk and the nurses. Anyway, Jill offered to have the insertion done right then-- but at this point it was 11 am and I didn't want to do it without eating beforehand. She said to call and set up an appointment and then left. I left feeling very frustrated, as I'd paid $167 to wait, in sum, for 1.5 hours for about 10 minutes of conversation. I called the next day and left a message on Jill's voicemail; she never got back to me. I called the following Monday and got through to Jill, and made an appointment for an insertion on 11/23/2010. I arrived and first inquired about the amount I was charged on my last visit. I was informed that it was a $200 "new patient fee." I hadn't been told that there was a "new patient fee" before that! I ended up paying less because of my insurance, but even so, I'd have liked this fee to be disclosed earlier. I was then almost immediately called back to talk to Jill and fill out more paperwork. But as soon as I got back there, Jill started talking about one brand of IUD, when I had requested another. I said that I'd wanted the other brand, and she said, "Did you change your mind?" I said no, that was the one I'd asked for originally, and we'd even had a conversation about how it had been in stock then, because she'd offered to get Dr. Trupin to insert it that day. Jill muttered about "losing her mind" and then had to make a whole new appointment for me! She had written down and ordered the wrong brand, and they didn't have any of the brand I wanted in stock. The only next available appointment was in three weeks' time! I made the appointment and left feeling incredibly frustrated again, as it's now been about 3 months since I decided I wanted an IUD and I still do not have one. When I got home, I called Planned Parenthood and got an earlier appointment-- and the device and insertion will cost about $200 less at PP than at the WHP. Obviously I cannot speak to Dr. Trupin's skills, as she did not actually perform any medical procedure on me. However, despite the zen-like appearance of the office, I've found the office to be very disorganized, unresponsive, and overpriced. As I said above, I'm out $167 for two brief appointments, and nothing to show for it but my frustration. I do not recommend this office unless you have excellent insurance and lots and lots of patience and free time. --------------UPDATE------------------- The day I wrote the original review here (11/24), I called the WHP and canceled my insertion appointment. I have since received 2 more calls confirming my appointment, one of which was yesterday! This makes 3 times I've tried to cancel this appointment. Ridiculous! I made that clear to the woman I spoke to this morning; there'd better not be a charge for a missed appointment or anything else. So frustrating! read more

Women's Health Practice doesn't seem to have time for their patients. If I call to talk to a nurse, the receptionist tells me she will LEAVE A MESSAGE for a nurse. Seems to me like a nurse should be close by, and I have offered to hold to wait for one, only to be put on hold 20 minutes and then told they are busy. At my first appointment, they left me with the little paper gown and told me to change. I changed, they came back in, had me sit on the exam table for some short procedure, I think taking my temperature, and then left me in the tiny paper gown ON THE EXAM TABLE for 20 minutes. I didn't feel comfortable at all. The gynecologist herself was very nice and gave me good advice on types of birth control. I don't remember her name, but it wasn't Dr. Trupin herself. Then Dr. Trupin came in and talked to me for half an hour about my blood pressure after I had told her I would rather go to my regular physician to talk about that, not her. They didn't have any time for me until I was actually there, then they had no problem keeping me for two hours, most of which was waiting for this person or that person. I expect waiting at a doctor's office, but this was ridiculous and they had little sympathy for the patients. Part of the reason I went there was because it is an all female practice, which made me feel comfortable and feel like they would know how I felt being women themselves. I was wrong. Do not go to this practice. read more

I have been going to Dr. Trupin for about a year now. I have had 3 OB/GYN and I am 35-- she is BY FAR the best I have been to. She always listens and is not pushy. She is proactive in her style and I appreciate that. Her staff is wonderful. I highly recommend her. read more

I had a similar experience to what A.W. had. I did my homework and I shopped around for my "lady doctor" and I thought Women's Health Practice would be a great fit. The first time I went, I didn't see Dr. Trupin, but I saw her assistant instead, whom I really liked. It was because of that experience that I made my appointment with WHP for my next annual appointment. This time I had the "pleasure" of acutally seeing Dr. Trupin. I will be the first person to admit that I am overweight. I have always struggled with my weight, but it has never impacted my sexual or reproductive health. Dr. Trupin starts a line of questioning about when I expect to have children and whether or not they can help me with other aspects of my life, like weight loss. I have been this same weight since I started having annual exams 8 years ago and I have seen several different doctors. None of them ever mentioned my weight as being a problem. Could I stand to lose 20 pounds? Yes. Am I healthy enough to run, walk, climb stairs? Yes. Dr. Trupin starts telling me, rather rudely and without any sensitivity at all, how if I don't lose weight now, I'll never be able to and if I want, they could put me in one of their studies and help me with a weight loss plan. Needless to say, that just made my day and my visit to WHP spectacular! Also, along the lines of what A.W. said, the office staff have no regard for your privacy or the privacy of ther patients. They asked me for very personal information very loudly in the waiting room. I thought HIPPA was there to protect patient privacy. I guess they don't read the form they make their patience sign or they assume it doesn't apply to them. Now I am trying to change my type of birth control, which is something I have done before with other doctors over the phone. Dr. Trupin is insisting that I come in for an appointment, which my insurance probably won't cover. So I will be charged $300 for a 5 minute visit where I will probably be criticized for my weight once again, even though I've lost 5+ pounds since I last saw Dr. Trupin. This will be THE LAST TIME I see this evil woman. I will switch to Carle, even though I loathe the idea of giving my insurance money to the Carle Physician's Group. Hopefully those doctors will be polite and helpful. read more

The office was clean and nicely decorated. The receptionist at the front desk didn't have much of a personality and was on the edge of rude at times. I waited about 20-30 minutes for my ultrasound and was sent back to the waiting room for the doctor to call me. This is where things went awry. I was called and put in an exam room and told to undress from the waist down and wait for the doctor to come examine me. I then waited an hour and a half for the doctor to finally come to the room. She was okay, but could brush up on her bedside manners a bit. Okay place, but disappointed and probably wouldn't go back. read more

My first experience with this office was horrible. I made an appointment for a yearly exam thinking that it would be nice to be back at a women's clinic like I used to have before we moved to IL. From the get-go I should have known I was not in Kansas anymore.....The reception desk was not friendly at all. I waited TWO HOURS in the lobby until being called back. When I finally was called, the nurse then took me to a room where she proceeded to ask for extensive health information which was fine except the nurse complained the whole time about the "new" comuter system and how awful it is. After her therapy session/medical history interview was done, I was told that Dr. Trupin would be in to meet me before I went to the exam room because she likes to talk with her clients before giving them their exams. I waited 10 more minutes in this room--no doctor- -then got put in a waiting room. Another 10 minutes later Dr. Trupin flies in and starts barraging me with questions......do you like the weight you are at (I'm here for a pap smear), do I want to get pregnant since I am not on birth control (I didn't come for birth control) , ect.......it was more like an interrogration than information seeking.......I found it all very rude and rather invasive considering I just met her. After my "interrogation" I was told to get undressed and put the "sheet"" aka small, plastic, picnic table cloth over me while I got in position. In completing my exam, Dr. Trupin showed no empathy or bed side manner at all and the exam was painful. I have a follow up appointment this week for a sonogram and I am dreading it. To sum up my first experience with Women's Health Clinic, the staff and Dr. Trupin are rude, it took WAY too long to get in to see the doctor and you will get referred for skin care advice or skin laser options because Dr. Trupin wants to drum up business for her other clinic, Hada. In addition, Dr. Trupin was pushing me to be in a clinical study which I see from the other reviews is something she does to others as well. Save yourself trouble ladies and go somewhere else. UPDATE: I went for my follow up appointment to receive an ultrasound. The front desk was more friendly this time and I didn't have to wait very long to get in. However, when I was ushered into my appointment room the lady asked me what I was there for. I said I was hoping she would know but I thought I was getting an follow up ultrasound. She said she didn't have any way of looking that up and then disappeared so I didn't really know what was going on. I guess someone told her why I was there because when she came back we proceeded with the ultrasound. She was nice but it did concern me that she didn't know what she was suppose to do with me when I came in. Communication could be better amoungst the staff. read more

This clinic performed an abortion against my will on me when i was a teen. I told them clearly that I was being forced into it by my parents and the baby's father. They did not care. They told me to hurry up and sign the papers because it was Saturday (in other words, stop wasting our time). I did not get anesthesia or any pain medication. I felt everything I was left on my own after and saw blood not just pouring out of me but on the table and equipment. I was not given proper after care. No juice or food and was attended to by other post abortive couples there. These are the nicest things I can say about them at this point. What they did to me is now considered a felony. I had called back once to ask for my medical records and they told me that they had been destroyed and they had a bully nurse get on the phone to try to intimidate me, telling me "she knows about me" like I was going to do something illegal to them or their place. Um, no you are the only ones doing illegal things. So please do yourselves a favor do not go there. They are not interested in helping women but rather lining their pockets with blood money. I swear on the grave of my mother that this is 100 percent true! read more

Incredibly traumatic time in my life; getting an abortion. When I arrived there for the appointment, they were all about getting my money first thing. Then they sent me to have blood drawn. Said it was very important to see if I was rh neg and whether to give me shot of rhogam. Phlebotomist stuck me once & couldn't get any blood. She said "Oh well! " And sent me on without. Woman did a vaginal ultrasound. She was sour and rough. Sent me to a counselor to see if I was sure about the abortion & wht kind of birth control I'd be using in the future. I said, "Well...um..I'm not sure..." and that was the end of the counseling! Off to the procedure room! It was January and freezing. I think the room was about 60 degrees. Had me take off my clothes and sit there in a gown...about TWO hours! I was alone, shivering, crying, scared. Finally Dr. Trupin and a nurse came in. They seemed to be in hurry and didn't bother talking to me! Nurse just sid "Lie back. Feet up." I wondered when I would get some sedative, analgesic, anesthesia or something. Ha! Dream on! Not even a bullet to bite on! Dr. T just reached up inside me and I felt the WORST pain I've ever felt! It was like some shoved a whole rake up thete and tried to pull out my insides! I work at an outpatient surgery center. I'm a nurse! We give people Versed, Propafol, lidocaine...if they're just having a splinter removed! I got nothing! When she was done, the Dr. just left without a word. The nurse told me to get dressed and took me to a chair to rest. This all happened years ago and I'm still shocked by the experience. If I had to choose, I would prefer to go to a Vet's office than back to that place! read more

I have to say, I was nervous going into my appointment due to the negative reviews. I cannot say which is more typical, my experience or those of the others commenting here. I can only speak to my experience. Everyone, from the front desk staff, to the nurses, to Dr. Trupin herself, was extremely polite and friendly. My visit was relaxed. I did not feel condescended to in the slightest. I had been to two other doctors to discuss being placed on weight loss medication, and both of them told me flat out "I don't like diet pills" and then proceeded to talk to me like I was a 5-year-old about how I shouldn't eat a lot of unhealthy food. Dr. Trupin was wonderfully refreshing in that regard, she treated me like a human being with a brain who had arrived at this conclusion after careful thought. All I can say as a negative is, it is a fairly expensive clinic. But given my experience, I'm willing to pay more for the quality of care I received. read more

The people are nice,but.... If you are a person who wants to have a doctor that is very personable and doesn't treat you like a number, this is not the place for you. I had to have a procedure done and this is the only place that offers it. My regular doctor had moved away and this was the only choice I had. During the procedure the doctor and the nurse chatted about everything from the weather to their vacation all while I was on the table. Then they left me in the room for a while. when the nurse came back she told me to get dressed gave me instructions and I was free to go. They never talked to me except to tell me to scooch closer so I could put my feet in the stirrups, and the whole thing was uncomfortable and I was crying, they were not rude they just weren't what I was used to experiencing during a doctor visit. I did have to go back for an out patient procedure and Dr. Trupin was late getting to the hospital,so the surgical team had me strapped to the table while we waited for her. When she was near they put me under. When I woke up,I never saw her but briefly during my follow-up appointment two weeks later. I think this place is all about research and medical break thru, not about actually building relationships with their patients read more

I went to Dr. Trupin for was a Pap .. She did a Internal Ultra sound that I didn't come in for and other things too. She even did a biopsy of my cervix, (OUCH). She was the worst at telling me she was doing. And as for the reason why she was doing. I even had a urine test done, they handed me a little plastic drinking cup, no lid, no gloves on them. And said go pee in the cup. Not very sanitary. I don't think I will go back there for any reason. read more

I am writing this as a previous employee that walked out. I refused to be a part of this practice. This physician is only interested in herself and money. She abuses her staff verbally and has staff members doing things they should not do based on their qualifications. As far as pts she pushes her cosmetic skin care and diet services. Her documentation is lax and her billing is inflated. read more
