    House Favorite with bacon
    Mabel R.

If you look up "best places for breakfast & brunch" in Alamogordo (New Mexico), this places pops up as an option. Yeah, I can see why. There's nothin' like a homemade hot breakfast and this place delivers. We ordered the "House Favorite" which is pretty much your simple eggs, bacon, & hash browns, and two sides of their sausage patties (each side comes with two). The food comes out hot and well seasoned. The sausage was was steaming hot like they had just come out of the oven. The portions are well sized, especially the hash browns. Overall, the food was delicious. The coffee was okay, they didn't have milk alternatives on the menu, and the service was slow, but in the end it was worth it.

This restaurant is by reservation only so I recommend calling ahead. The chef does not make substitutions and, while views may differ, I suppose that is their right especially considering the restaurant's earned reputation. Yes, your gps was right. It is located in what seems to be an old double-wide trailer next to some horses in the rural hills of New Mexico. It is fitting. All the surroundings give it the perfect rustic appeal. The energy inside is like going to your auntie's house where there is a no nonsense? sensible attitude (so please be a well behaved customer) while still being warm and inviting like a hug and a warm meal. Speaking of warm meals, It is the only place in the region where you will find Eggs Benedict on the menu and it was pretty good. Waffle was unlike any other Waffle I've ever had. Like the recipe has a secret ingredient or just perfect proportions of waffle ingredients. There were soooo many strawberries on the waffle too which I loved! They have a great breakfast menu with something for everyone. Everything is tasty, fresh, and made to order. I can't wait to return.

Middle of nowhere home restaurant that is a great choice for those traveling to White Sands from ABQ! They are cash or check only and prefer reservations. The portions are HUGE so you'll definitely leave full. Service was good, but I also felt like I was being scolded at times?? Like I was eating at home and my mom is judging me at the same time. Bonus, there are a few friendly horses we got to pet on the property as well!

This place is very interesting. You drive through the desert to find this local spot where they serve meals through their kitchen (or so it seems). They also have their own horse farm which is by the parking lot. Tips: 1. Download the google map so you're not lost!! 2. BRING CASH (or check they say). Credit/debit cards are NOT acceptable lol. 3. Reservations preferred. We arrived around 1pm and there were 4 groups of customers including us. The hostess aka waitress aka manager seemed very overwhelmed by the last wave of customers that entered and ordered around the same time. We waited quite a bit to get water served, food ordered, etc. The food was decent! Quality American food. The build your own burger was well cooked, crispy but soft bread, VERY CRISPY bacon wow wow wow. Wasn't overly salted. Came with pickles and more side salad! The service was interesting....... Imagine going to a grumpy grandma's home for lunch..... you gotta comply to her rules to get good food. Overall, the people were respectful and kind. Worth trying!

Chicken fried steak, biscuit with peach jam, waffle, eggs and bacon.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant may seem a little out of the way and unkempt from the outside, but it was well worth it![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The biscuits and chicken fried steak were the highlight. Possibly one of the best chicken fried steaks!! The waitress let us know that they were busy when we arrived and would try to squeeze us in, which she did. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Truly a hometown feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I recommend making a reservation if planning to dine on the weekend. If coming from Alamogordo, don't be alarmed if the gps has you take a dirt road. Bring cash or check!!

RESERVATION ONLY.. keep this in mind. BUT, this place is amazing. Up in the mountains, great food, great service. Went with a group of 3 and we did not have a reservation but they still took us in. I would give this place 6 stars if I could. Loved it.

Prime Rib sandwich with Potato Salad
    Brian O.

Yesterday, we drove to La Luz to eat a belated anniversary lunch at Nuckleweed Place. The many GOOD reviews were accurate. My wife had the twist sandwich (turkey, bacon, spinach and swiss cheese) with potato salad and I had the prime rib sandwich with potato salad. Both of the sandwiches were excellent and the potato salad was also very tasty. The amount of meat in the prime rib sandwich was amazingly abundant. The service was outstanding. Two things to keep in mind when visiting Nuckleweed Place are: Reservations and bring Cash or a Checkbook. Another thing to remember is that they are only open for breakfast and lunch on Saturdays and Sundays, and dinners on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Excellent on everything!!!! This place is quaint and very cozy. We were blown away with the quality and taste of all the food we ordered. Seriously, the food was as good if not better than some of the best restaurants we have been to. MAKE A RESERVATION AND BRING CASH. Our waitress was the owner's niece. She was on it, amazing service and very friendly. We highly recommend it!

This place is all kinds of cool. Off the beaten path- we even took a bit of a dirt road to get here and it was so worth it. The scenery, the service and horses! All of it makes this such a great ambiance for a meal. Came in from out of town and my family wanted to bring us someplace special for brunch. It is a little house on a farm with a beautiful outdoor patio over looking beautiful views. The menu was just as great. For some reason this trip everyone got the biscuits and gravy. Huge portions and at a great price. This is a must visit when you are in the Alamogordo area. They serve brunch and dinner Saturday and Sunday and dinner Thursday and Fridays. I would suggest making reservations though since it is intimate and fills up fast.

We went here with family while visiting. You need to make reservations. It's a cute quaint place in the mountains. We had cinnamon French toast this came with scrambled eggs & 2 huge pieces of sausage . The French toast was amazing ! It is with thick bread with a cinnamon crust. Delicious ! It came with 3 pieces . We also ordered a cinnamon roll. This was huge ! It had pecans & raisins & was served warm. My husband got a ham & cheese mushroom tomato omelette with hash browns . This was huge & fluffy . It was baked in the oven & came with toast . It was very good ! We had a big group & they charge 20% gratuity for parties over 4. The prices are good but it makes it expensive with this added fee. The food is delicious & the serving sizes are big ! I would recommend it. They do not accept credit cards so you need to have cash or check

Blue cheese is homemade and omg drool. Thick. Tangy. Delicious.

I first visited in 2021 during the height of Covid when all restaurants were struggling trying to figure out how to survive. Mind you, it's cold up in higher elevations of the mountains. Tent's and tables were placed outside on limited parking lot. Rather than cook, I told the BF, we have to eat out and help support the community. Not a-lot to choose from in a small town either and I'd been eyeing Big Daddy's for some time. It was a no brainier when I saw the tents, where I was going. It was a little chilly, but darn it, they were trying to survive so I could suck it up. Ordered chicken fried chicken and it was great. Nice and crisp. Fast forward to 2024 and visiting the town i told myself. Been in town several other times and i have yet to see the inside of Big Daddy's so this is where we are going since the White Sands balloon fest was canceled. No eating down in Alamogordo going back up the mtn. to support the the town. Not sure what I was expecting but it was both table & booth, seat yourself with another side section where you can bring your pup. Staff are very nice and willing to accommodate. Don't see that in the big city! Went bold and ordered enchiladas, daughter ordered breakfast (after brkfst hrs), son ordered fried chicken sandwich and BF ordered huevos rancheros. ALL looked & tasted yummy and cook was nice in allowing us to order pancakes still. Even asked if we wanted bacon!!! YES PLEASE! (And bigger tip is in order) Wasn't sure on my enchiladas but I was pleasantly surprised but only ate a little. (Practicing portion control :/). Others scarfed food down:) oh the enchiladas were not going to waste. These babies are traveling with me, as I text, back to Austin Tx. Long story long... go eat there. Their food is as good as big city food but small town feel Big Daddy's, we will be back. You can count on that! Thks for a wonderful experience. Oh we were so excited that the cook allowed the breakfast order. I totally forgot to take my customary pics

The manager incorrectly stated that service dogs must wear a vest to be recognized as service animals and demanded that we provide a "service animal certificate." We were then told that such certificates were not valid and that service animals must be registered in New Mexico before being allowed into the restaurant. None of these statements are consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Service dogs are not required to wear vests, carry certificates, or be registered with any state in order to access public accommodations. It is deeply concerning that a manager responsible for serving the public appears to have such a poor understanding of federal disability law. The experience was embarrassing, discriminatory, and completely unnecessary. I have traveled extensively throughout the United States with my service dogs and have never been treated this way. I strongly encourage management to educate staff on ADA requirements before another customer is subjected to the same treatment. Until then, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone who relies on a service animal.
