Just bad. The burger was cold. Not lukewarm. Cold. The chili was room temperature. My wife said this about her Frito Pie: "This would be pretty good if it were hot." I'm not sure why everything was so bad. All the dishes were very bland and flavorless. I don't know how they've been open so long with such bad food. Maybe it was an off day in the kitchen. This place has new owners and a new menu. Are there breakfast menu is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend their link sausage and the bacon. They also have very big burgers and package everything separately for take out so that your vegetables do not get soggy. Although it still has a good old town, homestyle feel, it's very inviting and welcoming to young people as well. My husband and I went on a Sunday morning and the service was quick. It was very obvious that everyone from the owner to the cooks take pride in the food that they serve here and make sure that you leave happy and full. We got takeout burgers on Monday night. The wait wasn't too bad. The burgers are very big and the veggies were fresh. The onion rings and fries were average. New Owner new name good food. Heather Beez Nu-Way. Collets of the building are vibrant. They had only been open a month maybe. Inside looks like you walked into your Granny's kitchen pictures of the community all over and several tables. Greeted with a hello and sit wherever you'd like. I have no idea why some clowns would rate any lower than 4 stars for the Nu-way. Donna greeted me right away with a smile, told me to sit anywhere land with up most haste, provided menus. The man who shares my tailor ordered his first loose-meat sammich and Donna gave her best description of what a loose meat is. I ordered the pork tenderloin, and it ROCKED! Beer battered rings added to the festive flava in my pie hole. To top everything off, Donna presented us with fresh homemade doughnuts. Everything about this restaurant is ridiculous. In no world should and decent burger and very undercooked fries take an hour. We ordered a little before noon and our food finally arrived at 12:45 just for the burger to be so greasy that it disintegrated (my phone is greasy after writing this and washing my hands twice). The fries were so thick that even in an hour they were still undercooked. They over charged $6 because our waiter said she wouldn't charge for one of my parties food because it took extra long. They not only charged full, but also tacked on the extra $6. The building itself was so small and crammed full of tables that just going to the bathroom to wash the grease off my hands was impossible. As I have never tried this location, but have heard many positive reviews by word of mouth, I decided today was a good day to give them a go. When not knowing what to order I always give the staff a chance to weigh in as was the case here when I simply said "what's good?". I sided with the young lady and went with the pork tenderloin, fries, and a large iced tea. I was a bit taken back when she stated the total was a bit over twelve bucks as I was anticipating a standard burger sized tenderloin, but we should never assume. First things first, this was a hand breaded tenderloin not that frozen stuff most places sell and as I was hoping the saying you get what you pay for was accurate. So as it was drive through for me today, I arrive home, opened the clamshell and saw an oversized hamburger bun with the tenderloin protruding a good 1 1/2" inches, a decent portion of fries, and a couple packs of ketchup. The tenderloin was quite exceptional. The breading was crisp, not to heavy, with the meat not so thick it was hard to bite and at the same time not so thin as to make it sandwich meat, it was perfectly tender. Standard dress consisted of pickles, onions, and mustard making this melt in your mouth good! The side of fries were crispy, but not overdone, with just the right amount of salt. All in all this was a great place to eat with a price equaling the portion size provided. I do believe, but could be mistaken, this is a cash only business so please keep that in mind. read more

This was a neat little place. They prep the burgers and most food right there at the bar so you can watch if you'd like. They only accept cash or check, so be prepared. The loose burger was very good. I got it with onions, pickles, and cheese. Had fries added on and I also got a chili dog. I did not like the chili at all; it was more on the sweet side. Being from Detroit, I had high expectations for a coney/chili dog...so I can't hold this against the Nu-way. I'd be back if I had the time. Rude and the food was not good. They got my order wrong and then snapped at me when I asked where my mushrooms were. She said I didn't tell her the order correctly and stormed off telling me there will be an increase of seven dollars. I do not recommend this food establishment. Second time visit today. First time was fantastic! Tacos burgers were amazing. Today's visit not so much. As this being our second visit I decided to try something different from the taco burger, so I ordered the cat fish basket. The catfish was way over cooked and the batter has no flavor BUT that is not the kicker for today's visit. I was on my second piece of catfish and I moved the remaining fish, and I could not believe my eyes it was a DEEP FRIED WASP!! Yes a wasp I could see the legs and all. I stopped eating and felt sick to my stomach immediately. I just pushed my food aside because I know accidents happen in the kitchen and it probably flew in when the door opened and ended up in the fryer so whatever, it is what it is. I wasn't going to make a fuss with all the people in the diner as it's very small and the kids in the next booth didn't need to hear that. So anyhow the hubby paid the bill and I told him what was going on as we left. So he decided to call the diner and let them know what happened. Boy I tell ya the Old Man that is I guess the owner is very RUDE to his customers. My hubby explained to him that there was a bug in my food and immediately he starts being rude saying he doesn't believe this and blah blah blah. There is a good way and a bad way to handle customer problems and his way is 100% not the way. I was not asking for anything free I was educating him as to what the problem was so that he at-least knew about it. Cool little old-school diner w/ a friendly vibe. Old pictures on the wall, old diner seating, etc. A REAL traditional diner, not recreated like sonic, etc. I love the atmosphere - I bet this is how it felt to sit in a diner 60 years ago! Menu includes simple diner food but w/ a more "homemade" feel you just don't see any more these days. I posted pics of their menu. I have to try one of their burgers next time (which I'm told are ground beef, not a patty - Sounds intriguing!) This time I tried their homemade peach cobbler w/ ice cream and coffee ... and it hit the spot. I like this little place, can't wait to return! I'll update my star-rating when I try their other food. Update: Tried my first Nu-way "loose meat burger" and it was pretty good. Nice flavor w/ the mustard and chopped onions. One caution, the small-sized burger is pretty small so if you're hungry I'd go for the large-sized burger. The hand-breaded onion rings were ok but I think I'll get their homefries next time. A small diner with stools and booths. The burgers here are made with loose meat instead of a patty. The burgers are made in front of you and the price is very reasonable. My only complaint is that the meat had no seasoning or flavor. The burger normally comes with mustard, onion and pickles. I will go back to try the tenderloin which looked very good. I love Nu-way and I love their Nu-way loose meat burger. I always get my sandwich the way they make it with mustard and pickles. It reminds me of when I was a kid and my grandmother would make them for me. The parking lot is non-existent, but I always use the drive thru any way. If there is a vehicle in front of the drive up window the wait staff comes out to your car to take your order, which is good, so you don't have that extra wait. This is an old fashioned restaurant, with good customer service. I will definitely go back. read more

The new owners have done a great job in keeping with the nostalgia atmosphere and new kitchen, restrooms etc. Our breakfast burrito was perfect size and the grilled tortilla was a treat. The atmosphere is actually very warm and welcoming. I enjoy how it feels upon entering. The service is a bit bleh. The employees don't seem very happy to be there and have puzzled looks on their faces when customers come in. Prices are cheap enough and portions are good. The food is bland and typical homestyle. I so wanted to love this place ... Have been going to Nuway/MaidRite/loose meat dives since I was a kid, and have always loved them. I will go hours out of my way to try a new one in the hope of finding the best LM burger of all. (We all have our quirks.) But this one doesn't quite make the cut. The meat tasted ok, but didn't have the finely crumbled texture it should have after hours of steaming, and I missed the acidic spice it should have had if they had put enough mustard in. Buns fell apart, too - either too cheap or too close to expiration date. (And the best places toast the buns a little on the flattop first...) The thing that bugged me the most is that the AC was jacked up so high that our food got ice cold before we could finish it. My quest continues. read more

Not a real "Nuway" in my book. Nuway originated in Wichita, Kansas (my home town), and the sandwiches are for real there. This establishment may have the same name, but the sandwiches are not. No seasoning in the meat makes the difference here. No curly fries (offered, nor did I see any on the menu). It was a long drive from where I currently call home. I had a small (!!) nu-way and fried green beans. I really was not impressed with the nu-way. It was insanely tiny and the loose meat did not have any flavor at all. The fried green beans were super tasty! The service at the drive thru was excellent. NOTE: cash & check are only accepted with the drive thru. The nu way burger tastes like a bland sloppy joe (with no sauce). It was okay. The tenderloin sandwich was not good at all. Strange but it had absolutely no TASTE at all. I had the tenderloin to go, when I got home I spent 10 minutes in my own pantry/fridge trying to find something to give it some flavor...nothing worked. Leavenworth is proud of Nu Way. I have fond memories of going to Nu-Way with my dad and brother as a kid and I am happy to say that the restaurant still holds up to the quality I remember!
