I absolutely loved my Nu-Vac experience. After dealing with another big or local company, who wanted to actually upsell me my guy (need to find his card and edit this post. NuVac gave me the real deal facts, provide an instant estimate and fixed my old vac and it's like new! He replaced the belt that the other guy said could no longer be re-ordered plus he shined it up so that's like I just bought it. I highly recommend you try him out he's in San Leandro. Charming place & owner - nicely organized, and they have a cute little doggie in the back. read more

Lovely, lovely business owner. I called on Dec 30 with a Miele vacuum that wasn't working. He was open, and asked when I would like it back. When I sheepishly said tomorrow if at all possible since I was having a gathering on the 1st, he agreed. I love that his price was on the wall, for transparency. And first thing the next day, my fixed vacuum was ready to go. He was also lovely to talk to and, despite a light drizzle, walked me to my car and put the vacuum in for me. Highly recommend! read more

I brought in my Miele vacuum for a tune up to Nu Vac. Shamon the owner is really nice and super honest. He could have just sold me a new brush to make money. Instead he showed me the bristles and demonstrated how they were still good all they needed was a good cleaning. When I picked up my vacuum it looked brand new. I will definitely be back. I recommend this shop to anyone that needs assistance with their vacuum. read more

The gentleman that owns and operates this vacuum repair shop is fantastic. Any vacuum repair needs you NEED Nu-Vac!

I accidentally sucked up a sock with my Dyson. I was unable to retrieve it. Luckily Nu Vac was open on nye. The owner was able to help me out immediately and fix it within 10 min. The price was fair, for the prompt service and short notice. The store is filled with a variety of vacuums. It does smell of cigarette smoke, so if you're sensitive please be aware. He also had the cutest, friendly dog there. Will return to support another great local business. read more

I don't think he makes too much money off of it but in return he'll show me some love by thrown in an extra vacuum belt, I am one of Jehovah's Witness so I read the Bible and this man has an appreciation for the Bible as well if you need to vacuum parts go check them out nice guy read more

Always bring my vacuums here! The man that works there is super kind and friendly. They charge great prices too!

Helpful and kind service. They stayed open at closing time so I could rush over to buy some Kirby bags. Friendly folks.

Nice owner with good stock of old Kirby parts. I liked the old school vibe and customer service reminiscent of my younger days.

I never received service! I called the day before just to verify his hours for a vacuum repair. I arrived the next day at 10am (he told me his store opens at 10am). He had a sign on the door that said "Open at 1pm." Ok I left and came back at 1pm. Then he changed the sign to " Closed Be Open Tomorrow!" I ended up BUYING A NEW VACUUM some where else! read more

This is blessing. To find a place where the gentleman who does the work is honesty and fair and saved me for having to buy a new vaccum. I needed a new roller and a small and large belt for my old upright hoover vaccum actually it is my sons. I wanted to surprise him for his birthday . He will be excited to know he won't have to get a new one right now. My experience went way to well. Brought it in at 10 am and by 12 noon it was done. 49 dollars that's all. recommend recommend read more

My vacuum power switch stopped working but the vacuum is still amazing so I wanted to get it repaired. I read reviews and decided on NuVac.. I'm so happy! I brought it in around 1:30 on a Tuesday by 3:37 Shman was calling to advise it was ready. I LOVE SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESSES! It works beautifully! Great service, super friendly, honest, reasonable with quick turnaround and a really cute dog in the back! This was a TOTAL WIN! So happy to find this hidden gem! read more

Great honest customer service! Quick turnaround! I have had 2 vacuums serviced here and will continue to go back!

Shamon did another great job with my carpet cleaner promptly and very fair pricing. Thanks! Again...

Even after cleaning it on my own, my 1.5 year old Shark robot vacuum kept throwing error messages about the section and refusing to run, but the manufacturer couldn't do anything about it. I contacted Nu-Vac and the owner said they normally don't do robot vacuum repair, but would take a look at it. Shane (spelling?) is super kind, honest and helpful. For just $35 dollars, he was able to give it a super deep clean and solved all the problems! At less than 10% of what I would have paid otherwise for a new one, I am so pleased! Nothing like supporting a local black-owned business. P.S. Despite the construction happening on the street, they are still open for business. Make sure you call ahead to make sure they are open. read more

I went to see Shamon because my Bissell carpet shampooer's motor was failing. He diagnosed the issue immediately quoted me a very fair repair price. Luckily, he happened to have a great-shape used version of my exact carpet cleaner, so I bought that one (for same price as the repair), and was back home shampooing in 40 minutes. Quick, fair, pleasant... I'll take all of my vacuum issues here going forward. read more

Very kind and thoughtful. I am believing that the service on my Shark vacuum tune up will be efficient and I will then give a full five star rating to Shaman and his store. read more

Nu-Vac is the only place I will bring my vacuums or electronics to because this man who owns Nu-Vac truly cares about what he does and is a Christian who is serving The Lord with his work and his service to help people. He is very honest and charges minimum for his labor and he always goes the extra mile...he walked me out to my car on the street when I brought my vacuum in for repair and he carried it all the way to my car to escort me back so I would be safe and not have a heavy load! Such a gentleman--not a lot of gentlemen around any more! I really appreciate that he is a dedicated worker and that he serves the Lord faithfully and honestly. Thank you--I highly recommend him and it took him literally minutes to repair my vacuum while I waited! Thank you so much Nu-Vac. So pleased to have found Shamon and Nu-Vac. My Shark vac was not working properly - something blocking the suction hose to canister and I couldn't find the problem. Took it to Shamon on Thursday and picked it up Friday. Good as new - and looked like new, too. Very reasonable charge of around $35. He is Vacuum Man and has been in this business for 40 years. We had a vacuum that was perfectly good but our dog bit through the cord so we went here to get it repaired. When we got there we saw our exact model but it had a retractable cord. So we asked if we could make a trade. We paid $35 dollars and gave him our old one as trade for the "new" one. When we got the "new" one home it started smoking the 2nd time we used it. So we took it back and said that we would like our old one back. We saw it displayed at $45 and all he'd done was tape up the severed cord. He wanted us to pay $15 more to get our old one because he said we clogged the "new" one with carpet cleaner (that was vacuum safe). When we said that it didn't seem fare he started raising his voice at my girlfriend and being extremely rude. So we left with our crappy "new" vacuum. Obviously will never be back. We wanted to help a local business but the attitude of the store owner has driven us to a big box store. Oh well. read more

My review is looooong overdue! After our old Dirt Devil bagless had to be replaced, we saw a sale at Big Lots, just down the street from Nu-Vac. After navigating through aisles of Unsupervised bay-bay kids on the loose, we finally get to where the vacuums where. As we were discussing which 1, this little girl planted on a rocking chair next to us, started yanking on my purse while her brother, in the chair across from it was spinning it around in circles until he fell out of it at my husband's feet. We immediately looked at each other and agreed, time to go elsewhere. And left . We turned down Lewelling Blvd and remembered from passing it by often that they have a huge selection of used vacuums. So we stopped thinking it couldn't hurt to look around. As soon as we stepped up, the younger gentleman greeted us and offered a friendly hello and his services to help us locate a new vaccum. He did offer to look @ our old 1 but I was adamant that it was retiring from duty cuz the doggy funk was now a permanent feature of using it. While he cautioned that any of the newer machines would eventually do the same, if we did keep maintenance up it would be a working a lot longer. We insisted on seeing what he had. We originally planned to buy a refurbished Hoover or Bissell from Big Lots, we asked if they had any if those. Luckily, there were a few refurbished Bissell Clean View Helix (through them vs. direct from manufacturer) so we picked 1 and he set up a quick demo on the carpet and I immediately liked how light it felt as it glided across a medium pile carpet. It also had a nice carpet deodorizer that smells way better than sweaty dog. He showed us how to empty the cannister, settings, etc. We were sold. So we got the vacuum cleaner and added the maintenance service fee of $15 and ended up walking out the door spending less money, happy as heck about the machine, service contract and even more thrilled by the customer service experience. We are definitely going back when it's service time and if it ever needs repair. And they had their small child there and you never heard any screaming, yelling, etc. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't have ever noticed a child if I didn't pay for anything. Very well behaved. This gets extra points I'm my book! After using it for 6 months now, I'm still impressed with the machine and the service we experienced there. read more

Nu-Vac - Appliances & Repair Near Me - Hayward, California

My husband and I bought a refurbished vacuum from here three years ago, and it just recently stopped working. It was our fault, really--we didn't take very good care of it and we hardly ever cleaned it between each vacuuming, so I wasn't surprised when it decided to kick he proverbial bucket. Figuring we'd already gotten a good deal once from them, we decided to return and buy another vacuum from them. Immediately upon entering, we were helped out by a guy named Shay (I hope I'm spelling his name right), who was relaxed and very helpful. He was friendly and very down-to-earth, and he definitely knew his stuff about their products. He answered all of our questions and went over the pros and cons of each product we were looking at. The place is small and really kind of cramped but don't let looks fool you--these guys are great at what they do, and if you take a minute to look past the clutter, you'll see their walls are decorated with photos of their family. You can feel the love there. I think the best part of my experience was finding out how refreshingly honest they are in their transactions. My husband and I had been looking over a Dyson that was for sale and when we mentioned it to Shay, he told us it was $175 but he would go as low as $150. We were going to purchase it when he said, "I really want to make a sale, of course, but there's something about the Dyson you should know first." He proceeded to tell us that whereas it was a really good vacuum, if it broke, it was really difficult to find parts to fix it and it could take months to do so. So even though he could have made an easy $150 off of us, he was honest with us about the maintenance of the product and directed us to something half as expensive but just as good that, if it broke, could be easily fixed. I can't tell you how great it is to know that there are good, trustworthy people out there who will not lie to you about what you're going to spend your hard-earned money on. Shay could have easily left out that little detail and we would have happily bought the Dyson; instead, he had integrity and he gave us ALL sides of the story so we could make an informed decision. I left with a new vacuum, my wallet still padded, and a renewed sense of the goodness of mankind. Thanks Nu Vac! You're all great. read more
