I had made an appointment with Anastasia after I had a conversation with her about a month ago. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the front desk receptionist. She wasted no time asking of I wanted a drink while waiting. As soon as Anastasia was ready to greet me we wasted no time in getting my hair done. She gave me long layers and also dyed my hair. I wasn't going to write a review. The person who was on the phone today 11:05am was extremely rude and condescending. I made a late appointment around 5pm online yesterday For 2pm today. I went to try to cancel two hours later because of an emergency. I couldn't do it when I went back online and when I looked up the salon it said "closed for today" meaning no one would be there. so I made sure to call soon as they opened at 11am. Lady on the phone immediately mentioned the cancellation fee. and said why didn't I call she was there. Like I stated it was late appointment and it said "CLOSED" she proceeded to ask the hair stylist what he wanted to do with the charge. Gets back on the phone and says next time you want to make an appointment don't do it online call the salon. NO THANKS. Paul was nice enough to waive the fee, my point of my review is you never know what someone is going through. BE NICE. I'm not one to cancel appointments. But in this situation I had to wait to call the salon when they opened because that was the directions it gave me online. I scheduled for a haircut didn't think it would be such an issue. I came here for a last minute cut since the girl I usually see was not available. They were able to get me in on short notice and I had Deborah work on me. I love the location, and I had such a nice and relaxing experience with Deborah cutting my hair, even without a shampoo/blow dry. I requested a dry cut since I had just done a shampoo the day before. I also wear extensions, and even thought Deborah doesn't normally cut and style them, she was willing to take me on, which was so great! She got me the look I wanted and I left happy. Both times I've been here the two different stylists who will not be named messed my hair up. I don't know why I gave it a second chance. This stylist messed my hair up so bad by not doing the cut I wanted so I went back to get it fixed and now it's even worse. I'll likely have to cut my hair super short to fix it. I wish stylists would be honest about their capabilities but instead they try their best and mess your beautiful head of hair up. Awesome read more

What an experience. I had some pro and some definite cons. I have gone to the same stylist at a different place for 16 years and was looking for a new salon home and sadly I didn't find it here. My stylist was Paul and he was very nice and loved his personality and the color my hair ended up and how he explained what he was doing through the process. Sadly that's where the pro ends. While he was applying the color he got some on my cheek and i waited for him to clean it off (never happened) so at the end of the appointment I had to ask how to take it off and was handed a wipe which did nothing and was then told to just use dish soap when I get home meaning I had to leave with the hair dye on my face. Also, the dish soap didn't work! While he was using the diffuser attachment on the blow dryer it fell off and fell onto the floor then he put it back onto the dryer and continued which is NOT sanitary. Also with my curly thick hair I NEVER use a diffuser as my hair gets extreme frizz and voluminous which for me is not the look I like. While cutting my hair he never asked what side I part my hair so the cut is now based on how I just randomly did it yesterday. I never saw him compare the lengths from the front, only the back. When it came time to pay based on my online estimate $195 for full color and cut I expected to walk out around 215 which included tip. He continued to add pricing and then told me it cost more because he had to use more product for the color because of my hair thickness. This should have been mentioned when looking at my hair during the consult, not at the end. I ended up leaving spending around $300 which included my tip. I will never go back and the only reason I gave 2 stars is I like the color (just not on my face). I want to walk out of a salon feeling confident and loving how I look and I definitely didn't feel that yesterday. The owner replied to my Yelp review: The owner replied to my comment but I can't reply back so I will do it here, this was her reply: Nu Du Salon (Owner) an hour ago Hello Sara. We appreciate your perspective and will be addressing your concerns to the team. I'm concerned that your review may be somewhat untrue since I'm looking at your ticket and you paid $235 for the services and a $35.25 tip, not $300 as you stated. We do not leave color on the face, Paul safely placed foil around your hairline to protect your face and you removed the foil, then when he went to help you get the color off, you declined the process. In conclusion in speaking with Paul about your negative experience we advised him to personally call you to see if there is anything we could do for you to better your last visit. Sadly you declined and there is nothing we could do to help you. We wish you all the best in your hair journey. This was my reply: I'd like to make it known that $300 is dang close to $270 which is the exact price she is saying I paid so sorry I was off a mere $30 out of that large of a total. Id also like to make it known I didn't pull the foil off my face as that would be insane as I've died my hair plenty and know it would stain my face which it did! When it fell off during my 50 minute processing time I told him it fell off and showed him exactly where I put it which was on the little table in front. PS dish soap didn't remove it but coconut oil does for anyone who gets hair dye on their face. He also never offered to clean it for me, if he had I wouldn't have had to ask for it to be cleaned at the end. I did appreciate the call and informed Paul I appreciated the follow up. That's correct I declined a way to fix it as I didn't know what could fix it as I have zero plans to return and I knew I wouldn't get a refund. The owner was very defensive in her reply to my constructive feedback on my experience. read more

Meredith has been my stylist since 2015, even though I've moved from Long Beach, to Costa Mesa to the Bay Area, I keep coming back. I am even flying back in August for one last trim before my wedding, because I can't find anybody who is confident in cutting hair dry and who will carefully skim/trim all my split ends without taking length. She's the only stylist I've found who actually listened to me when I said I wanted to grow my hair out. She changed her routine with me (after the first visit), because she noticed that the normal wash, trim, dry routine didn't work, as my hair drys drastically different lengths which resulted in more hair trimmed off, than desired. When I did finally cut my hair short, I let her decide the style for me and she chose a low maintenance lob that I got compliments on for a year (until I grew it out). I've found her business practices easy to understand and clearly articulated. For scheduling, she has a system to remind you of the appointment (a couple days before the cancellation policy takes effect) and it's easy to cancel your appointment if something changes (multiple ways to contact her). Meredith is a phenomenal stylist, who cares about her clients and their goals. I'm having a hard time finding a Bay Area stylist with the skills to maintain my hair with her standard of care.
