what a huge disappointment! Go to the taco stand if you want good mexican food! This place is a rip off. We ordered the ceaser salad with al pastor chicken and the three carnitas tacos. Total cost was over $60. Ridiculous. The menu is uninspired, the prices ridiculous and the service slow and spotty. Now for the food. The ceaser salad dressing was not at all like a real ceaser. Maybe they use bottled dressing? The chicken al pastor was tender but it was incredibly bland. As for the tacos, You get three tacos per order but you can't mix and match. You have to get all the same kind. Seriously? The carnitas were good. I'm grateful i didn't get the chicken. The menu says it comes with salad, cilantro, avocado and onion. It does not. It comes with guacamole and a tiny bit of onion. Then you choose your sauce. I picked the medium -hot sauce. It is a minuscule serving and more like mild-medium. This meal was a rip off! read more

Really confused and wary with seeing any reviews above 3 stars for this place, to be honest. Let's get a few things out of the way: is it expensive? Yes, it's airport food. So 20 bucks for every dish seems on par with normal airport food. We got a quesadilla (9 dollars) and the 900 degree fries (9 dollars). Please note that adding meat is an additional 8 dollars for both. If you're going to the airport and want quantity then this isn't a bad choice as both plates were large. With that said they were both okay. I wouldn't necessarily call this food authentically Latin though which confused me as I know the chef is supposed to be a pillar of that. It felt very Americanized. Service was fast. We came here when it was raining but they have an outdoor area which is nice as San Diego weather normally permits that! read more

Got the Al Pastor tacos and they were really disappointing. There was a ton of guacamole and barely any meat, and the meat itself had almost no flavor. The corn tortillas weren't even warmed on the grill. They were cold. The mild salsa tasted like plain tomato sauce, and while the green salsa was a little better, it still wasn't great. As someone from in San Diego, this is nowhere close to the quality of Mexican food the city is known for. I hope visitors try other local spots and don't think Novecientos represents Mexican food in San Diego. read more

Had a long layover at San Diego airport and the lounge was inaccessible so we came across Novecientos Grados by Tony Hawk close to our gate and decided to give it a try. We were seated immediately in the bustling restaurant which has indoor and patio dining. Our waiter who was very busy greeted us immediately and we were served with water and menus. The menu is all Mexican dining with a large variety of options. What I liked about the menu is they explained all the dishes and the sauces available with the varying degrees of heat. I appreciate that because you don't always get that in a Mexican food restaurant. The guacamole looked especially delicious so we ordered that as an appetizer and as main course decided to try the carnitas tacos, three tacos served with chips and salsas. You get a choice of three sauces and we chose the mild to be on the safe side. We also ordered a margarita and a Dos XX's. Our drinks were quickly served and the guacamole followed. It was very, very good and the mild tomatilla salsa was a perfect compliment. I will mention that we were offered extra chips as we dined but we declined as we were served plenty. When the tacos came we were surprised because they were huge and packed full of tender succulent carnitas meat. It was topped with another generous portion of guacamole and your choice of salsa. As I mentioned we took the mild Chipotle salsa which was great with the chips as well. The three tacos were more than enough to fill us up so we declined ordering any more food but we did enjoy another drink. The servers were attentive, the managers came by a couple of times, even refilling our drink order for us while the server was busy elsewhere. Everyone was friendly, welcoming us and saying goodbye. The food is excellent and plentiful and very delicious. Give it a try. Expect it to be a little pricey as it's in a airport but believe me I have no complaints with this establishment, only praise. read more

Their situational awareness is horrible, they will chit chat with each other and ignore customers completely. Twice I sat down and was ignored for at least 5 minutes, just to have someone else sit next to me and be immediately approached. This morning that happened and she handed new guy a menu and I had to ask if I could also get one of those; she looked at me like I just dropped out of the sky even though I had been sitting at bar looking around expectantly waiting for her to stop talking to the busgirl. One time would be fine, it happens. But every time means just bad training. Making your customers feel invisible multiple times deserves a bad review. read more

Since our flight got delayed by a couple hours, we decided to get some drinks and food while waiting. Got seated quickly and shared the carne asada plate, some beers and cocktails. The beef was really tender and seasoned well. It was pretty expensive for what you got ($35) for carne asada, 3 small tortillas, rice and beans. But this is the airport and everything is overpriced so not much we can do. Drinks were good, nothing to complain. I did wish the glasses were chilled for the draft but service was good. This is our first time in the new terminal and we stopped by here to grab a cocktail right before our flight. The hosts were wonderful and sat us extremely quickly - considering it was Thursday afternoon. Our server, Emerson, was so kind and had great recommendations for food and drinks. We got the hamburger which was cooked perfectly with a nice char and paired that with the spicy margarita and season Subai chocolate martini. The martini was delicious and sweet but the show stealer was the spicy margarita. We mentioned briefly how it was my friend's 40th and Emerson came back with the cutest rose made out of napkins for her. Just a sweet and special gesture! Heading to the airport can be hit or miss when it comes to making sure you're not late, getting through TSA, not forgetting items on the security belt! One of the best things that can happen, is the ability to post-up while waiting for your flight, and enjoy a good meal but more importantly, great service! I had the pleasure of meeting Mikaele at Novecientos while waiting for my flight from SD to NY. She greeted me with such great energy and pep, which you could tell was authentic to her! She made some great suggestions, all of which I went with. Mikaele took time to chat a little if she didn't have to tend to another guest, and was honestly was just so pleasant! This place is lucky to have her. The food is typical "ok, overpriced, $18 a slice of avo toast" spot, but Mikaele makes it worth the price, and the drinks are amazing too! read more
