The group I was in did the Boodle Fight, so our experience may be different than people who had catering orders, to-go orders, delivery, or dine-in. Also, I did not use their bathroom, so I do not have the full experience. I will say the parking lot was excellent. The staff that laid out the food did an amazing job. The food was delicious. I think the only thing I missed was Pancit. A table full of shrimp, fish, chicken, Sisig, fruit, eggplant, rice and so much more. We had a lot of fun eating with our hands and having a good time. We were there for like an hour an a half or so. Nova's Grill knows their stuff, i order from them on Doordash between 1-2 times a week because im too lazy to cook. I was bragging to my best friend about their food because we are foodie's and we love to eat. We were excited about what we were going to eat on Thursday, March 27 '26 and we had gotten there around 5:30. They close at 7 sp we had an hour and a half to eat. We ordered about 6 dishes --Pork Sinigang, Adobong Pusit, Bihon Guisado, Garlic Rice, Plain Rice, Crispy Pata , Ube Turon. When the orders came, the rice was so little, what they said was good for 2 people is actually only good for one. We asked for ice. They said they had none. not a big deal but honestly ice is a very important thing to have. There were no condiments on the table (patis , toyo, suka) etc which is common place in Filipino eateries. Around 6:30 we were being asked to finish our meal because they were "closing". Did they forget we ordered a bunch of stuff. If they are worried about their closing time, rhen please dont accept people an hour and a half before closing as you guys kmow Filipino food is not burgers and fries . You eat w little bit of everything slowly , its a cultural thing. We were again told two more times to hurry eating as they were closing. I was so shocked i coulf barely believe this kind of treatment. As a former caterer and hotel manager, we have never kicked anyone out of any establishment when they are still eating. You shut the door, you stop taking in customers but you always let the people still eating inside finish their meal, even if you had to stay behind for a bit. Another reason i took my best friend to dine rhere is because we were both so hungry and we dont do any cooking in our homes. My best friend paid for the meal --almost $150 , we decided against leaving a tip because the service was poor. The people working in the front had a less than acceptable demeanor, rushing us out of there we couldnt even finish eating. All in all, i felt embarassed in front of my best friend who treated me to the meal, when i had done nothing but brag about this place and their food non stop. I wpuld have loved to have had a conversation wirh Ms Nova Mendoza herself in person to compliment her on the amazing food but also to tell her that the staff needed further training im hospitality, customer care, and soft skills , it is their behavior and conduct which will bring this restaurant down. Highly disappointed!!! Arrived a few minutes before opening & was the 1st one to place a dine in order of 2 items only (bangus sisisg & garlic rice) right at opening. Waited 40min & the family of 5 who ordered AFTER me was served their whole spread of 5 items (lechon, kare kare, sisig, etc...) before I was served my order. To make things worse, I waited 40min to be served COLD bangus sisig, I'm sure that's some sort of code violation. The server tried to say they just cooked it, like who are you even trying to convince that this cold fish is freshly made?! I was also told that they prioritize take out orders over dine in despite arriving at 11am when they opened, so keep that in mind if you want to try this place. It was such a delightful dinner having a boodle fight (kamayan or using your bare hands to eat) with my dear friend Rene and his college school mates at Nova's Grill Filipino Fusion restaurant from 4:05 pm until 5:38 pm yesterday, Sunday, June 14, 2026 in Covina, California, USA. The service was accommodating and friendly. It was a cozy and inviting with a big flat TV with the Fifa World Cup 2026 soccer game on. They served miso soup, sisig, lumpiang Shanghai, bangus, cajun shrimp, fried eggplant, okra, salted eggs, side salad, rice, shrimp paste (bagoong), watermelon and oranges. I discovered Nova's grill as I was looking for a new place to get pork sisig and absolutely love them for that! I do ask for them to reduce the salt when we order, and they're able to accommodate and we thoroughly enjoy it with hot rice! Recently I didn't have time to order sisig ahead of time so I ordered (2) large crispy pata -- I might have a new favorite spot for crispy pata as well. I was here with couple of friends for birthday get together to try the boodle fight (Kamayan) lunch. It was $17 per person that comes with Fish, Cajun Shrimps, Fried Eggplant, Rice, Side Salad, Lumpia, Egg, and Fruit. I ordered drink which is not included. Another friend ordered extra Kare Kare on the side. Boodle fight is when all the food are grouped together and lined up in the middle of the table on top of the banana leaves. Rice would be piled up high on one spot, fish would be piled up at another spot, and so on. You are to fight with among other friends at the table to grab more food before others, otherwise, you won't' get any food. LOL! The setup of the boodle fight at this location was served individually, so we didn't really get to experience the boodle fight. We all ate with our hands. I ended up using gloves, fork, and spoon. Met with friends who had their first experience of the KAMAYAN meaning eating with hands... yes no utensils .. but they can be provided if you want!!! My husband and I were very disappointed with our visit. We waited for about 10 minutes to be seated, and during that time, both people behind the counter completely ignored us. The heavy set guy with the hair tie was especially rude -- his attitude was unacceptable. I understand that they may be understaffed and overwhelmed, but there's a big difference between being busy and being BASTOS (rude) to customers. To top it all off, we were asked to order our food, leave the restaurant, and come back in 30 minutes -- which I found completely unreasonable. They could have easily cleaned and prepared a table in five or so minutes instead of turning us away. Restaurants are a dime a dozen, and no matter how good the food might be, customers will not come back if they're treated poorly. Sadly, we didn't even get to taste the food because of how badly we were treated, we walked out. While waiting, I also noticed other customers were unhappy -- some even had to ask twice for their rice while their main dishes were already on the table. This place seriously needs to work on customer service. Good food can bring people in, but respect and hospitality are what keeps them coming back. read more

The food is not only super flavorful but the portions are so generous and the prices are reasonable. I had to remove a star because of how long the wait usually is. They are always soooo many people there and tons of to go orders that they're always busy so it's understandable that the wait is so long. Wish they would find a way to streamline the kitchen/ordering to improve this. The other reason I had to remove a star is because of the cash only situation. They used to accept Zelle and Venmo. ZERO stars. Had to add a star to be eligible to post. I ordered pork sinigang and it took over an hour. Once I attempted to cancel the order- they said they just had to place it in the container. I waited for another 15 minutes. Once I opened the container, the port pieces were all fat and skin with hardly any meat. The eggplant was only eggplant skin and three pieces of peppers. Stopped by here because I was craving some Filipino food, but I will say that the dish that I got (the sisig) was INCREDIBLE. Nice crispiness from the chicharron bits and the meat was moist and paired well with the creaminess from the mayo and acidity of the lemon. Ala Carte: Sisig Plate is full of crunchy pork (chicharron), chopped onions, and zucchini so delicious! Would definitely recommend that everyone try and pair it with a plate of rice. Binagoongan is very salty because it's mixed in with shrimp paste. It's a marinated pink pork dish. It's best if you have a good amount of rice on the side to pair up and eat this dish. Sinigang soup (white onion, spinach, eggplant, and pork) has a Tamarind sour flavor to it that reminds me of Tom Yum soup. I would recommend it to those who love to eat sour soup. read more
