It was my first time at Nova's Grill. I was craving pancit, but I was in a mood to try some new dishes. The restaurant has cozy vibes. I ordered some dishes to go. My order was ready when I went to pick it up. I got the following: - Lumpiang 4/5 I ordered 12 pieces of Lumpiang. Their Lumpiang is delicious but not the best - Sisig tacos 5/5 Their sisig tacos was well seasoned and juicy. - Miki Bihon Guisado 5/5 Made of two types of noodles with different meat. It was savory and one of my favorite food. - Ginataang Gulay 3/5 Vegetable stew with okra, green beans, pork belly, and shrimp. It was okay but not my favorite. - Longanisa 5/5 It is flavorful pork sausage The service was fast. The restaurant was clean and organized. The staff was friendly. Next time, I will order more of Sisig tacos and I will try Sisig plate.

This spot is cash/venmo only! You order at the counter and find a seat. The sisig is good! Definitely my favorite thing that we tried. Service is friendly, but attentiveness can be a little hit or miss depending on the # of large parties there are also dining in. It feels super homey and gives a vibe like you're going to your aunt/uncles house for family dinner. No frills here.

A great friend introduce us to this restaurant for the Boodle Fight experience. What a great experience. Never knew about the Boodle Fight. It was several items spread on banana leaves on the dining tables. You eat with your hands. Food was good and delicious. So much food, we had to take it to go. The service was great. Staffs were nice and got us anything we asked for. The restaurant is small, but very clean.

I was here with couple of friends for birthday get together to try the boodle fight (Kamayan) lunch. It was $17 per person that comes with Fish, Cajun Shrimps, Fried Eggplant, Rice, Side Salad, Lumpia, Egg, and Fruit. I ordered drink which is not included. Another friend ordered extra Kare Kare on the side. Boodle fight is when all the food are grouped together and lined up in the middle of the table on top of the banana leaves. Rice would be piled up high on one spot, fish would be piled up at another spot, and so on. You are to fight with among other friends at the table to grab more food before others, otherwise, you won't' get any food. LOL! The setup of the boodle fight at this location was served individually, so we didn't really get to experience the boodle fight. We all ate with our hands. I ended up using gloves, fork, and spoon. LOL! All the dishes were freshly made and delicious.

Have to do a review for today's 7/5/2025 Boodle Fight experience! Met with friends who had their first experience of the KAMAYAN meaning eating with hands... yes no utensils .. but they can be provided if you want!!! Only $17 per person (excluding soda and gratuity) which includes rice, half fried boneless milkfish, lumpia , half shell salted egg, Cajun large shrimps ,mussels, grilled eggplant, cucumber/mango salad and a slice of watermelon!!! Now wasn't that a meal worth fighting for??? We were all stuffed and everyone had a wonderful lunch ! Added 2 orders of delicious KARE-KARE and everyone loved the dish!! Great service and great cook!!! Friends surprised me and another friend with a birthday celebration! We will be back for another round!!!

From Mayra who assisted around the restaurant & welcome all the customer who came in especially to pick up there to-go food orders, to Lucy at cash register so friendly to the Chef & owner Nova herself. Cooking and preparing all these Delicious dishes we ordered. Our first time here. Recommended by family members to try out. A little pricey but worth every penny. Good portion per dish. Able to share with love ones. Chef Nova prepared all the dishes freshly cooked so if you don't want to wait call ahead. Taken picture of business card so able to call ahead or there address. Menu as of 3/2026 taken picture. Place kept clean and organized even ladies restroom. We ordered to go had to wait 45-50 minute. Again worth waiting. Each dish that was ready Mayra showed to me before closing each container. I had to try each dish . All the dishes was prepared Deliciously. Just wish they had Halo-Halo especially heard that they made them so YUMMY! Would had been perfect on these warm day. Maybe next time. Highly recommend. Will be back hopefully by than would have Halo- Halo since its in the menu Thanks Again Chef Nova for all the Delicious food you prepared for my family and I. And Mayra & Lucy for giving my family & I Exceptional Service!)

Here for a boodle fight to celebrate some special friend's Birthdays. This traditional meal requires a minimum of 8 people. Make reservations. This set menu can have additional entrees for an added costs. Served on banana leaves, use your hands for utensils. It was good, my favorite was the eggplant. Extra cost if needing plates. Bar seating by the window or low top seating available. Once you enter the parking lot head straight back it'll be towards the back with patio seating in front.

7/23/25 for 7/5/25... Filipino Boodle Fight! Went here to celebrate a birthday dinner for momma Net and it ended up being a double celebration for her and me! Surprised I sure was! Everything tasted so good! But my favorite here was the Egg plant in the peanut sauce with some white rice! The service here was great as the set up they did. It was nice, cool, and clean inside the restaurant. I love peanut sauce! Did I tell you I love their peanut sauce?

My husband and I were very disappointed with our visit. We waited for about 10 minutes to be seated, and during that time, both people behind the counter completely ignored us. The heavy set guy with the hair tie was especially rude -- his attitude was unacceptable. I understand that they may be understaffed and overwhelmed, but there's a big difference between being busy and being BASTOS (rude) to customers. To top it all off, we were asked to order our food, leave the restaurant, and come back in 30 minutes -- which I found completely unreasonable. They could have easily cleaned and prepared a table in five or so minutes instead of turning us away. Restaurants are a dime a dozen, and no matter how good the food might be, customers will not come back if they're treated poorly. Sadly, we didn't even get to taste the food because of how badly we were treated, we walked out. While waiting, I also noticed other customers were unhappy -- some even had to ask twice for their rice while their main dishes were already on the table. This place seriously needs to work on customer service. Good food can bring people in, but respect and hospitality are what keeps them coming back.

My husband, Sung & I have been coming to this restaurant countless times ever since our Pastor Alan introduced it to us over 10 years ago. Every visit has been a wonderful experience. Thanks to their consistently delicious and freshly cooked Filipino food. I highly recommend this charming little restaurant!

I love Nova's Grill. You can skip out on all of the other restaurants in West Covina and come straight here for Filipino food. We didn't actually eat here today but just "picked up" ube turon. The food is not only super flavorful but the portions are so generous and the prices are reasonable. I had to remove a star because of how long the wait usually is. They are always soooo many people there and tons of to go orders that they're always busy so it's understandable that the wait is so long. Wish they would find a way to streamline the kitchen/ordering to improve this. The other reason I had to remove a star is because of the cash only situation. They used to accept Zelle and Venmo. Now they're strictly cash. Doesn't make sense in today's very cashless world. I hope they update this also. Otherwise, there is no bad thing to say about this place. Try everything. The food feels like home.

Great place for sisig. Their pork skin in the sisig had an excellent crispy texture and I also liked the levels of flavor and tanginess to the sisig overall. The veggies that come with the plate dishes also have a great grilled flavor to them which I really liked.

Plastic utensils to eat Crispy Pata !

One star is for the customer service and restaurant operation . When we entered the restaurant we have to sit ourselves . Plenty of customers already seated and waiting , only one person in the restaurant and she's busy in the counter . I was told that we're to order the food in the counter , ok no problem I can do that . I ordered plenty of food we were party of five and we're very hungry when we came in , it's around 12:20 pm . I was told we have to wait 45 minutes for the food to get ready . Ok no problem we can wait , we understand it's a busy restaurant and the food here was really worth the wait .Despite the size of pork sisig portion was smaller size than before . That's not the problem . But I observed , we were served with plastic spoons and forks and paper plates with plastic cups and a bottle of water . For a restaurant caliber this was unacceptable , you see food that we ordered were crispy pata , sisig , pancit bihon and some more ... they're not likely to be enjoyed using plastic utensils !!! Please nova kindly buy some steel spoon and fork and knives at least , just buy the commercial ones but don't let your customer eat with plastic spoons and forks . It doesn't fit your tasty crispy food ! Word to the wise , do not eat in the restaurant, order a to go ! And ps ... please hire some wait staff , you're busy enough to afford one.

The parking lot had an interesting shape but it wasn't hard for us to find parking. We were seated quickly and we ordered a variety of foods. I had the Crispy Pares, my partner got the the Beef Pares and my in-laws split the Lechon and Sisig. We also tried their Calamansi and Mango juices and a Halo Halo for dessert. Overall, it wasn't bad but nothing here really stood out to me. If I'm honest, the home cooking of my in-laws (who are Filipino from the Philippines) tastes better. For me, the beef broth was super oily and the garlic rice smelled like garlic but didn't taste like anything. The crispy pork was both super crunchy (which I like) but also tough (the meat that is). I don't try the Sisig but I could hear my MIL muttering in Tagalog and I'm pretty sure thy were not kind words about the Sisig's flavor. Maybe the best items would have been in the overload upgrade but none of us were starving that we felt the need to try it out. Maybe next time? The juices were good though but the Halo Halo was a bit sad. It was like 92% ice cream, 4% rice crispy and corn flakes on top, 3% shaved ice, and 1% "other." I don't recall seeing any jellies, beans or fruit (though my partner said he saw ONE jelly. Last, I recognize this is a small family business and I support small businesses but as we say there eating, a few other tables exited and none of their tables were ever cleaned. It didn't really affect us but I was surprised that the staff was just chatting and on their phones for about 20 minutes and not bussing or clearing tables. It was slow at the time (as we were the last diners) but it was also kind of gross and as we were on our way out, I saw another group enter.

We ordered the tipid package (included large pata, kare kare without oxtail, an appetizer, rice, and your choice of pancit bihon or pancit canton) and kenchi steak. We got lumpiang Shanghai (mini egg rolls with ground pork and shrimp) and a mix of bihon and canton. Most items serve three to four people, so come with a hungry party and prepare to take leftovers home. The crispy pata (a deep-fried pork knuckle) had a lot of flavorful and juicy meat. While this dish is inherently fatty, there is still meat to cut off. The kare kare (beef chunks, tripe, and vegetables with a braised peanut gravy) tasted good. The rich flavor was also influenced by vegetables, such as eggplants and long beans. Some of the beef chunks were a little fatty. The lumpiang Shanghai arrived late into our lunch because we had to follow up with our server. While they currently charge $23 just for this appetizer, the portion size was much too small. It seems that with this specific package, you'd get a smaller appetizer portion. The bihon (thin rice noodles) and canton (thick egg noodles) pancit mix tasted adequate, and we had no complaints. I enjoyed the kenchi steak the most. This dish is beef shin topped with bone marrow served on a sizzling plate with gravy and vegetables. The beef had a thick texture, and the potatoes tasted soft and lovely. It was filling and noticeably better than the items in the tipid package in my opinion. Lastly, even though we visited around noon, they unfortunately didn't have halo-halo (a Filipino milky shaved ice with fruits and preserves) available as a dessert. At the end of the day, this is a solid restaurant with large portions and well-seasoned flavors. I definitely see why it's a family favorite for many.

It tasted like a "healthy" version of Filipino food. Still, my 83 year old Filipino Grandmother (who's now averse to too much seasoning) genuinely enjoyed this modern interpretation of pansit. I arrived at Almuchow (West Covina) on Sunday (around 3:16PM). Parking is easy. The lot is big. Surprisingly, Almuchow (West Covina) had taken over the old location of Bistro Filipino. Almuchow (West Covina) had relocated to this new spot in late December. Staff is very professional, welcoming and friendly. Staff works hard. I observed how Staff worked nonstop throughout my visit. My food took 14 minutes and five seconds. Good time! As mentioned, the Longsilog ($15) and Pansit Mix ($16) appears beautiful. Although it lacks the usual saltiness & oiliness of traditional Filipino food, it felt health conscious with comforting textures. The ingredients tasted clean. The Longsilog's sausage had the familiar sweetness of the Longanisa, but it felt more comparable to a meatball/meatloaf version. The Pansit also had the wetness and length of the usual dish, but it tasted muted. Still, the food felt well-intentioned and filling. Regarding ambiance, Almuchow (West Covina) is spacious, clean, and welcoming. I appreciated how Filipino music played on its speakers. The flat screen TVs even showed filipino musicians. There's also plenty of tables and a gender neutral restroom. Overall, I had a good experience at Almuchow (West Covina). The food is a good option for customers looking for a modern twist on filipino classics. If curious and nearby, it's a decent option. 4.5 out of 5

The delivery guy came right on time the day of the service and even helped serve food for the first half hour before leaving. The serving trays and decor they used were very beautiful. Tita Charina was available via phone to answer a couple questions even though she was at another catering event herself. That's dedication! Thank you Tita's of Manila for being so dependable. I will surely be using you again for another event in the future. Salamat po!

Pang Inasal absolutely hit the spot for us. My wife and I came in craving some Filipino comfort…read morefood, and this place delivered in every way. She ordered the sisilog (crispy pork with fried eggs), and I went with the Binagoongan talong (sautéed eggplant with shrimp paste). Both dishes were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly, rich, savory, and incredibly satisfying. We paired our meals with refreshing sago't gulaman, made with tapioca pearls, sweet syrup, and Filipino-style gelatin. It was the perfect sweet, icy finish. Customer service was great from start to finish. Staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Pang Inasal did not disappoint, and we'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu. Highly recommended!

The place is at the corner of what looks like a deserted square on S Glendora blvd... and it made…read moreme nervous that the place was empty, but open til 9pm. It's a large-ish space, and I guess kind of like a sit-down place (not "turo-turo/cafeteria style like some Filipino joints), with a ton of Filipino snacks on the counter. Plenty of seats that have seen better days. A portion of the restaurant is covered in plastic to house some construction equipment ? I asked for the pork sisig ala carte and decided to add an order of kalderetang kambing and 2c of rice. Big mistake buying more than one entree when you are taking it home and have no clue how their food tastes. I trusted Yelp too much. . Sisig had a 1:1 ratio of meat to bell peppers. I also couldn't help but feel lile the peppers were undercooked, even raw. Maybe that was their style, but I also disliked the mayo on top. Now the kalderetang kambing had a strange fishy (gamey) smell in the car. When I tried it at home, the meat looked so red and tasted way too sweet, not at all like the Kalderetas I'm used to back home. The meat was falling off the bone soft though. This is my problem with Filipino restaurants in the US - if they can't make dishes better tasting than what I make at home (i rarely cook but im a good eater), I cannot rate them high at all. I've eaten too much Filipino food in my life to know what tastes good. I feel bad because the folks who work here/(owners?) are pretty nice and they were working on Valentines. But the current rating they have is misleading. If you're going for the big entrees like I did, and are used to Gerry's Grill type sisig, prepare to be disappointed. Yelp, you did not come thru for me this time.
