I would give less stars if I could. I was questioning the fact that they want to give my 5lbs dog a flu vaccination before they gave him a surgery, I did not want to give him the vaccine, he is miserable enough without getting another shot. So I had a lot of questions that they apparently didn't like, so they called my wife and was very rude telling her that they no longer want my dog as a patient. My wife already put money down, had the surgery date set up and we paid for the other appointments. They care more about getting even with me than they do with taking care of my dog or my wife because I questioned the flu vaccination policy. Now we have to take time to find another veterinary, pay for more visits while my dog suffers because they did not like my questions. read more

We love everyone at Novak Rinker. We have taken two dogs and two cats to them and get great service every time. One of the things I love the most is that they include us in the plan of care. If their first-line recommendations aren't affordable for us or won't work for whatever reason, they take it into consideration and offer a second option. They are so good with our (sometimes feisty) pets too! When it was time to put our senior lab down, they provided comfort and plenty of tissues for our tears. They really do care. I don't leave many reviews, but saw all the negative ones here and wanted to offer up my own experience, which has been great. read more

I would give them 0 if I could. their weekend scheduling is a joke it's all about them not the customer. when u call they give u a time in order of opening time down if someone scheduled for 8 u have to take there next appt open at 9 u cant take later in the morning not allowed .... Wow... U don't get a chose. So it's all about them closing early to go home if u can't make their time to bad. I was a brand new customer got stuck with a 8 am appt they even make u put down a $25 deposit... of course my fault forgot my alarm .. so for my very first visit I donated my $25 deposit... and this was my introduction to there business... Enjoy my $25 ... I'll take my business and pet to a professional vet that don't play games... If that's how you present your business. I definitely don't want to see how you handle the rest... Pathetic..business practices to say the least... read more

I brought in a 4 month old kitten that was in pain for treatment and was told I needed to have an appointment, but this was an emergency. I thought veterinarians were dedicated to the health and well being of animals and not care about appointments in an emergency situation. Before I could get to another clinic the kitten died. I plan to file a complaint with the ILFPR that licenses veterinary hospitals , since this was absolutely uncalled for and an egregious attitude from this particular veterinary clinic which I will also not recommend and tell everybody about this and not ever patronize again. read more

Absolutely wonderful caring, knowledgeable doctors and staff. Be prepared that they are also very busy and take that into consideration when booking an appointment. They are not an emergency clinic but do their best when you have a problem. Brand new beautiful building also. They also have large animal capabilities. read more

Horrible service! Everyone at the front desk are rude and unprofessional! No compassion for your pets whatsoever. Even with gas prices going up, I will commute to another town before I go back to this place.... read more

Worst than Animals in Streator Novak Clinic BEWARE : will let your animal die in front of you and will not see it but kick you out . Those Crooks should not have a Vet Licence for any animal and I'm looking now into Legal Matter vs. Vet Clinic and the Clinic. I been there from 6 yrs with 2 big Mastiff Presa and last Monday March 6/2023 at 3,50 pm went with one dog and new vet ( I think ) argued with me ant won't see my dog no matter what . All kind of crappy excuses. She see me I'm Desperate cause I told her I just lost my other dog dying in my arms , now other dog acting strange I told . She couldn't see for 2 minute how I ask to tell me what to do. She send me emergency other far places. Driver I went with , told me try other vet in town closer to Walmart. We went there and in front of like 15 people waiting they let me in and seen my dog asap . I let everybody there know what Inhuman Crooks Novak Clinic is. Stay Away . Talking to Lawyers today. They can't treat any animals this way. I lost 6 yrs there with both dogs ,not knowing what Idiot Vet they hire . Other ladies prior been very kindly . This new vet Worst of All. Beware Again. They NO CARE for Animals. They worst than Animals and will let them die no matter what . Need also post on all sites reviews so people are fully aware of Inhuman practice policy they have. So sorry I spent 6 years going in such clinic with my dogs not knowing what truly are . I'm sure Owner will take One Big Note. Should not be a Vet Clinic Owner. For any animals at all. read more

I saw that they returned a dog with a bloody ear and refused to admit wrongdoing. When the pet owner asked the. To check out the bloody ear they caused, Novak said you must pay. HORRIBLE SERVICE OF ANIMALS. read more

Wonderful, highly-skilled, affordable vet care in Ottawa. For years, they were the town's quasi-shelter taking in the city's strays, abandoned, and rescues at their own cost. Now, they provide low-cost vet care to local no-kill animal shelters in neighboring towns. Their prices are very affordable compared to all the other vets in town and both Dr. Brainard & Dr. Novak have been practicing for over 30 yrs too. Their staff is super! And the vet tech is totally cool. My dog never feared going there. For a town that doesn't have a city animal shelter, these guys practice the heart & soul of humane and affordable vet care. read more

I've had my dog for 14 years, and Dr Brainard has cared for him since he was a young dog. He made a diagnosis of thyroid deficiency after other vets failed to do so. He's also done a major surgery on my beloved dog, so he has saved him from early demise now not once but twice. Office staff is always nice - I have used both Streator and Ottawa facilities and the offices are very accommodating. As a doting "dog person", I would recommend him to anyone. read more

I feel very grateful that I called Novak's clinic! I was back home in Streator for a wedding last October when my dog got very sick out of the blue. I was scheduled to be standing up in my best friend's wedding within a few hours and the vet got my dog RIGHT in and got him taken care of on a Saturday. I live in downtown Chicago but will make it a point to schedule Tucker's vet appointments with this clinic and make the trip down just to go here! read more

I have never been treated so rudely or unkind than I was by Dr. Novak. After being over charged for a grooming appointment she belittled me and didn't care what I had to say. Service was done on my dog without getting consent from me first and then I was expected to pay for this service. I was never given the opportunity to discuss my options or even agree to it being done. From my interactions with her she does not care about her customers. When I asked to have a conversation with her to discuss this charge she told me "you have two minutes." and then proceeded to talk the entire time. I have always been one to bring my dog to a vet clinic for a groom because I want to support small businesses and I have a small business owner-veterinarian in the family. Dr. Novak is not one I'd recommend. I truly feel like I was cheated 70 extra dollars. Had she just spoken to me with some respect and even told me she'd work with me on the price I would've been happy. It saddens me that people like this are running their own business when they have no people skills. read more
