They call themselves an animal hospital? Despicable. Walked in tonight bawling my eyes out after…read morecoming home from work to a completely unresponsive dog. Shaking wouldn't even get him to wake up. I brought him here begging them for help because I wanted to get him seen as soon as humanly possible. The nurse asked if I was a patient. I told her no, but I had been in the past. I fell on hard times and owed them some money (not much) and that it went to collections because I couldn't pay it at the time but I would pay it to them right then and there if that was still an option and begged them to just help my dog. She looked at Dr. Brodd who was standing there, and said it's his call. He replied with its always my call, to which the nurse laughed, and Dr. Brodd walked away without a word. I stood there, dumbfounded. Waited because I thought someone would tell me yes they would help or no they wouldn't. Instead I stood there as precious seconds ticked by while my dog was outside dying in my car. No one acknowledged me or said anything so I said guess not and got the hell out of there. I understand I owed them money once two years ago I couldn't afford to pay. I had tried to pay once I got the money and was told it went to collections. But to turn away an animal in DESPERATE need over money? We could have talked it out after. I could have paid up front. Whatever it would have taken. But no. I wasn't even given a second thought and neither was my dog dying in my car. We went to AnCare in lasalle and they had a gurney ready and waiting for us. My dog is in back now. I pray he makes it. They didn't even ask me if I had been a patient there, if I could pay, anything. They said we can talk about all of that later. They put my dog first before anything else, and THAT is what an animal hospital should do. HELP animals. It's clear Chessie Lane only cares about money, and not the animals that rely on vets for care. It should have been clear with the way my horse was aggressively manhandled by Dr. Brodd when he WAS his vet. But I was desperate and they were the only vet in town open. Now I see that even considering them was a waste of time.

First time getting my cat groomed here. A family member suggested Shampooch so I thought I would…read moretry them. I called and left a message for them, and they called back the next day to book. I was a bit hesitant to book when the girl said that they don't allow the pet's owner to remain in the room while the cat is being groomed. I am used to staying by my cat's side so he remains calm. But if that is what the business wants then I was fine to oblige. The establishment wanted me to drop him off between 8-8:30 am. When dropping off, I asked for the groomer to give him a lion cut, with a little puff of fur to remain on the end of his tail, and to shave the fur on his body fairly close to his skin. He is a Maine Coon and he had a lot of fur to trim, so the cut was $65. This seems like a fair price to me for the area and I was happy to pay this. The two young girls who were checking in the pets were very friendly. I observed that it was a nice and clean work area. One of the girls carefully placed my cat's carrier (with him still inside it of course) on a bench. It was fairly quiet in there at the moment, just one tiny barking dog in the background. They called me a little after 10am to pick him up. The girl who called me let me know that they only accept cash or check. I appreciated the heads up before I got there, as I was planning to pay with a card. Super easy picking him up. The only thing I should have done was inspect his haircut before taking him home. I am used to being there the entire time of a grooming and my previous experiences the groomers usually ask if the cut is OK before I pay. I wasn't asked to inspect him first, and I did not look at his haircut as he was already in his carrier. When I got him home, I was surprised to see a huge puff of fur left on the end of his tail that was about 4 inches in length. I did ask them to leave a little puff of fur like a poodle but I was expecting it to be a small inch-long piece. It just looked sort of funny but it is not a dealbreaker. The one thing that was slightly disappointing was the fur on his paws was not trimmed that much. All I can assume was perhaps the cat was not having it any longer and maybe the groomer had to end the haircut there. The groomer did not mention this to me when I picked him up, she only said that he was fairly well behaved. Overall, it was a good haircut, everything appeared to be evenly and smoothly shaved on his body. He also smelled nice and clean so I assume they used a cat wipe to clean off the excess hair. He was not very upset when I got him home other than the normal crankiness after a grooming haha! I am sure they handled him just fine, otherwise the cat's behavior would have been much different.

When we alerted Tammi we were relocating and asked if she might know of any similar stores in our new location, Tammi did some research for us and found us another store that carried the same brand so we did not have to change dog food. I have so many positive things to share, I don't even know where to begin…read more My best cat friend of 10 years, Lennon, began exhibiting symptoms of an illness just before Halloween. As the days went on he became more and more sick. His belly became enlarged, he was barely able to walk and it was obvious our time together was coming to an end. On Thanksgiving night, around midnight, I came home to find Lennon in very, very bad shape. He was clearly near death and needed immediate care. Lennon was never a patient of Pine Bluff Animal Hospital, but I needed to find the closest hospital to get him help as quickly as possible. Shortly after midnight, Dr. Schmidt agreed to meet my boyfriend and I at the hospital within 20 minutes. Dr. Schmidt immediately assessed Lennon and recommended euthanasia. Dr. Schmidt was so gentle with Lennon and handled him with such tenderness and clearly explained the options available to Lennon and what the next steps would be in a way that was both factual and empathetic. My boyfriend and I had a beautiful, private moment alone to say goodbye to Lennon and the doctor was so respectful of our time with Lennon. This next part I remember so vividly: when I walked back in the room after Lennon had passed away, Dr. Schmidt gently pulled Lennon's blanket up to cover him just like he was sleeping. It may not seem like much, but to me it showed Dr. Schmidt's character. He is compassionate, kind and caring, all of which extends past his obligation as a veterinarian. I chose to cremate Lennon and also asked for a clay paw impression. When I picked Lennon up to take him home for the last time, I looked down to find that Lennon's remains had been placed in a beautiful wood box with a brass nameplate and the clay paw was outfitted with his name and a heart. I was so touched that I cried in the parking lot for over 5 minutes. I've been meaning to write a note of thanks for a few weeks, but haven't found the right words. This review doesn't do my thoughts justice. To think that the veterinarian of a busy animal shelter accepted Lennon (a never before seen patient) on an emergency visit basis at midnight on Thanksgiving is absolutely incredible. I am humbled and forever grateful. One last note: shortly after Lennon passed away, I received a sympathy card in the mail, hand-signed by the staff with notes of sympathy, including Dr. Schmidt who wrote a note that was very touching. I was so emotional over the staff taking their time to remember me in my time of deep, deep grief. I can not recommend PBAH enough. These are folks who care deeply about animals, care about people and care about their hospital.
