Without question, we chose NOVA Installations for a second window improvement project and front entry door replacement. Chasing alternative quotes for our proposed project was pointless. Our initial experience, a full home window replacement, was excellence from product quality, installation, value and customer service. Once again, this has been our experience. A call to their Chantilly office, Sheryl had Joe scheduled for a consult the next day. Our vision: a sliding glass door to replace a pair of windows, allowing backyard access. Elimination of the adjacent window paned entry door and egress, enlarging our family room living space. From our vision, Joe proposed an alternative, balancing remaining windows and transom with a custom size ProVia sliding glass door. His revisions made significant enhancement to the room's footprint and allowed us to move forward with replacement our front entry door. Here again, with my general vision, Joe brought his professional guidance and we had selections made in minutes. Our new ProVia entry door... I've never made a change to our home that has had as many compliments or requests for referral. From here, we need to thank Sheryl for her patience and professionalism accommodating scheduling adjustments, of which there were several. Ricky and his assistant managed a one day installation of both doors accommodating preparations for an exterior siding replacement and finishing with flawless interior appointments. As observant DIYers... witnessing Ricky's install was a master class in carpentry. Attention to detail was above and beyond. Lastly... my delay in posting this review has tested our ProVia doors with Virginia's '26 formidable deep freeze. They performed beautifully. We're very very satisfied customers. Had 17 windows replaced (20 year old Andersen windows) in our house (8 main level, 9 upper level). Had front door replaced as well. CINC-House now happy. All new windows are energy star along with better U-Factor, SGHC, and VT). All work and cleanup done on time with no issues. Cost was much lower than other quotes we received (especially the one in Maryland that advertises a lot). Strongly recommend this company. read more

Unfortunately I'll never us this vendor again due to the unprofessional way they've handled two different window issues on the same job. In total, I had 25 New construction Andersen 400 E windows in our residential remodel. With my General Contractor at the table, when I asked for a complete privacy window for a 1/2 bath near our front door that I didn't want to put window treatments back up after an overhaul, NOVA promised he had a window treatment with complete privacy. FAIL. The night the window was installed we tested it & you could 100% see through this window. For months NOVA promised they were coming back to apply a treatment to the window. FAIL. When they called me for the $500 balance on their bill, I said I'd pay it as soon as they fixed the window. NOVA window boss made a sleazy car salesman seem like a boy scout! He washed his hands of my window problem & agreed (via text which I saved) I would not pay the $500! HIS OFFER, NOT MINE. 2nd issue arises a year later, 60" 45degree NEW construction kitchen bay casement window & neither window opens now! I call for NOVA to take a look or for them to contact Andersen. NOVA's first comment, "pay me the $500 you owe me." Should I be surprised, absolutely not. But I tried. I tried to appeal the the sensible part of a normal person who might take responsibility for failing to fix a problem they created and then renigged on fixing. I'd have been more than happy to close out his original balance if he had just fixed what he said he was going to fix. [EDITED OUT COMMENTS on 9/10 after NOVA provided a copy of a check they wrote to my GC they claim was to handle the window lack of privacy problem he (NOVA) wasn't willing to return to fix.] My GC by the way, was furious NOVA never fixed the bathroom window to begin with! My GC was personally going to come "treat" the window himself because he knew that he had to originally talk me out of my 1st option... glass block! But, my GC like me, took NOVA at their word for a private window. FAIL! While the NOVA install team was nice, they were agressive in how they cut out the old windows & did far more drywall damage than my GC (with nearly 40 years in construction) thought was reasonable. I still only give one star because the poor Customer Service is a problem & you are failing the customer especially when your tone over a problem turns dirty. In the meantime, I did hire a local man in Poolesville, MD who does window films and for a very reasonable price, he gave me over 500 decorative films to choose from to make my 1st floor 1/2 bath window 100% private!! I would never purchase a window with a "treatment" on it again because for far less money, you can get a decorative film of your choice by a reputable business man! As for the 60" 45 degree Andersen casement bay window? Now I get to deal with Andersen. [Edited again 9/10/24 here to add:] Customer service means everything. If you tell a customer you're coming to fix something YOU got wrong, then live up to your word. If you install something that fails, be a professional in your process. read more

We have waited 20 years to upgrade our 1950 original windows with energy-efficient casements. We did not want to lose light and requested full tear-outs (stud-to-stud) to ensure the new windows were bigger or at least not smaller than the originals. Yet, months later, the windows that arrived were 'pocket inserts' - the installers simply removed the glass from the old windows and put smaller ones inside the original frames. This means the empty spaces around those original frames were not filled with insulation, undermining the point of paying over $1,600 per window for a more efficient home envelope. The process of communicating about the windows, then getting them measured, then installed took months. I'd suggest finding a company that measures the windows before demanding a 50 percent down payment, so you can more easily walk away if you have any reason to question whether they are 100 percent on board with your request. read more

Morning of the window installation a womanI showed up and covered all flooring in a protective blanket, as each window was finished and sealed, she cleaned with windex and vacuumed the space. loved the install team and Art so much I decided to get trim clapping and then siding! :) each visit was pleasant. We've had a lot of windows replaced and some more than once. Tom setup the appointment with us. He was on time and very professional. He told us when the windows would be in and they were on time. Juan and Harrison arrived with the windows that were being installed on the second floor. These two worked great together as a team. They covered the floors with drop cloths, cleaned up the work area and cleaned the glass before leaving. My first experience with Nova Installations was excellent. We needed a new storm door, Art Dunn came out, measured and in no time, it was installed. 5-star. So when we needed a full doorway rebuilt, we called them again. Art came out and I requested options -- because we weren't sure the type of door we were looking for. We never heard anything back. A month later I sent a follow up email -- never heard anything back. Recently I received an invite to connect on a networking site. I wrote Nova and reviewed my experience in 2018. They ignored the no response but apologized for the auto send on the connect email. When I dug a little deeper about never responding with bids, I got these responses: "We would love to be the answer to everyone's home improvement needs especially when we have a previous satisfied customer; but some things are out of our scope of work. Also, to be honest, June is probably one of our busiest times and we may have lost track of you." When I brought up the follow up email and non-response and the fact that if they were too busy, Art could have mentioned that on site or told me they could not do the job: "I can see you are unable to get past the fact that we let you down." No Nova -- I'm not let down. I happily found a contractor who was able to come out -- offer suggestions -- and offer a bid. He let me know when he would be free and asked if that schedule would work on our end. It's not difficult to keep a satisfied customer satisfied. But never responding...twice...is not a great path. Maybe 2.5 stars? Because it was a 5 -- then a zero. So yes, 2.5. Just a quick update (February 4, 2019): I got this email from Nova Installations today: "I wanted to let you know that your arrow founds it mark. We did indeed lose a $15,000 contract as a direct result of your Yelp review." They blamed the loss of a business on my review. I tried to give them repeat business, I was a satisfied customer, I was not upset with the quality of their work. I was disappointed in their lack of response. But the poor review came due to the office staff who felt that being repeatedly flippant and unprofessional was the way to get return business. Sorry Nova Installations. You're the ones shooting the arrows. It's not hard to get happy customers to come back. Just treat them with respect. read more

Only recommended for defenestration! I want to jump out of my old windows after dealing with this company for 20 weeks without success. Signed a contract and put 50% down to get windows within 6-9 weeks. So far their excuses have included a glass shortage, COVID, not being able to buy black paint and now quality control. Their latest and greatest idea was to partially install mismatched windows. Their sales team and manufacturers give conflicting excuses. They have canceled not one, not two, but three installation dates with only a few days notice. Don't believe anything they say or promise. We had 25 windows replaced on 4-5 August 2022 in Clifton, VA, and they were outstanding. It took 2 full days (1 for interior work; 1 for exterior) but the team was polite, courteous, hard-working and conscientious; final day clean-up was meticulous. They worked hard under hot, humid, "heat advisory" days, around challenging landscape conditions, and high elevations around some windows that were 31 years old, foggy, and had dry wood rot; the results were beautiful and beyond our expectations. NOVA Installations came out and replaced some old windows on our townhouse. Overall, process was easy and the windows were an upgrade. Everything was fine for about 18 months and then our bay window started leaking. It had never leaked in the 10 years prior with the old window. We called NOVA and they sent someone out, who didn't even really look at the window, just said that what they did didn't cause the leak and he claimed that from the street he could see where on the top of the bay window there looked like a problem. However, we had it checked out, and I even got on the ladder and went up to inspect and couldn't see anything at all. Now, the ceiling at our bay window is destroyed and leaking everywhere and we are having to pay to fix it. read more

Nova Installations completed several projects on our house including new storm windows, Hardy-board siding, and new gutters. Very pleased overall with the level of workmanship and the cost. Art Dunn is extremely easy to work with and provided a very low pressure estimate. I think we were most pleased with the lack of aggressive salesmanship -- he was honest about what our best value solutions were and did not try to upsell anything. The siding work was completed by a sub-contractor, I believe. We had a problem with how that team installed trim around a window. Nova was very understanding and helpful and worked with the sub to re-do that portion of the work. Scheduling was easy and everything was done on time as promised. Would highly recommend Nova and Art Dunn, in particular, for this type of work. read more

They did our windows, a sliding patio door, and a basement door about 4 years ago (now 2019). The storm door has been nothing but trouble - the rest of i.t has held up okay so far. The storm door - a ProVia product - these guys are the vendors - is horrbile. Avoid the brand if you take my review seriously (and I'd recommend that you should, of course!).... in addition to the shoddy workmanship of the manufacturer, I have found that it is difficult to contact NoVa itself for any help. Caveat emptor! PS: to be specific - the storm door handle is particularly bad - keeps falling apart! On top of that it is noisy and flimsy read more

We were disappointed in the poor quality of the windows, which were manufactured by Northeast Windows USA. But this was a fix-up for sale and high quality was not a priority. The installation went well. Outside of some debris found in the beds below the windows, the work was well done. The reason for our bad review is that we learned after the sale, that the the "lifetime" warranty would be voided the minute we sold the house. This installer sold us these windows using the lifetime warranty as a main selling point, knowing full well that this warranty would be voided when the home was sold. That is unethical. NOVA Installations of course blamed the window manufacturer, but it was NOVA's responsibility to inform us about this very critical issue and they did not. read more

We have used them in that home and our next home for window replacement, a new roof, and doors. I recommend them highly as each experience has been ideal, and a reasonable price as we got multiple estimates each time. Our rep has always been Art Dunn. I love a laid back, knowledgeable, no b****t person and that's Art. They carry several lines of window manufacturers and can educate you on the differences. Even once we need them to come back to check/fix part of the replaced roof 3 years later, Art came himself and took care of the work. NOVA Installations once again did a fantastic job of replacing the last three windows in my house to match the 50 windows they did 10 years ago to replace the original builder installed windows. I didn't replace the three windows at the time because they were replaced just earlier with Pella windows. But it turned out they didn't last like the windows Nova installed which are still like new after 10 years. The team that installed the windows this time was as professional as the one before, paying a lot of attention to do the work properly and carefully. Art Dunn, the owner, has not changed at all after all these years even though his company has grown much larger. He still treats his customers with friendly personal attention and provides honest and very competitive pricing. Also, his assistant, Sheryl, is such a wonderful individual to interact with during the entire process. She provides excellent customer service and is always responsive to any questions. That's why many of my neighbors and friends have been happy customers of NOVA through the years. A friend recently had a Provia entrance door installed which was $1000 less than a quote from a small contractor for the exact same product. I had an in-home estimate with Nova but opted not to use their services. The salesman could tell me a lot about the one brand of windows Nova carries and why they're superior. But was absolutely unable to answer questions about whether the water damage my old windows had caused/are causing (due to improper installation by another company) must be fixed before a new window is installed. What I wanted to know is: After the old window is out, how could Nova tell what damage had been done and what needs to be fixed, and whether the new window could be installed before or without any remedial work? Since they are window installers, this seems reasonable. But the rep just wanted to pop in new windows. Could not answer any questions, could not move off of sales script. They are just an installation shop. And that may be fine, just know what you're signing up for. read more

Nova Installations installed a new roof for me in mid April 2017. The crew used was a sub-contractor for Nova and they did an awful job. Felt paper cut to short in areas did not cut straight edges, ruined my existing capping on my house, left nails on roof, shingles popping up. The owner of Nova did try to make the discrepancies right before being paid. Part of the problem was the job was too big to be done in one day. They started at 7:00 a.m. and finished at 7:30 p.m.. By 3:00 p.m. they were tired and their workmanship suffered. I can not recommend for a roofing project even if the price is cheap. read more

They did a fine job on our patio door but were not particularly respectful of our home or clean. I had a baby in my arms so it was clear that I didn't have a lot of free hands to clean up a mess and don't expect to need to move everything in a 10 foot radius of their walking path where they dropped trash and didn't pick it up. They also moved patio furniture and didn't replace and left the back gate open. Most annoying, they took down a curtain rod and curtains and we had to ask them to put it back after they left it across our couch. I'd be concerned about what it would look like after doing several windows. read more

We worked with Martin on our sliding door replacement. He was knowledgeable, accommodating and knowledgeable. Installation and product chosen were delivered as promised. They promised a bottom door lock which was not available at the time of installation but they followed up and installed it a couple of months after when it became available. They corrected mistakes without issue and until all parties were satisfied. read more

I LOVE my new doors. Both doors are beautiful and the storm door is quite heavy and secure. What a difference! Art Dunn was a pleasure to work with to provide options, price and coordinate the job. Since it was a bit of a tricky job (these buildings are 70 years old) Art had the installer, Terry, come out prior to the installation to make sure there wouldn't be any hiccups.
