I have given them 5 stars now because Nova Exteriors immediately took action after reading my previous review. Eric, from NOVA exterior called me today and explained the problem I am facing with the door. Apparently, this is a normal problem with this type of door. Unfortunately, I will be facing this type of problem almost every other month. Evidently, the "keepers" in these types of doors must be adjusted when the lock does not work. Considering the obscene amount of money, I have paid to get this door, I was hoping that I did not have to put additional work by myself every other month. NOVA Exteriors did a wonderful job replacing 3 exterior doors at our home. They checked every box one could ask for. Rob our sales rep was patient and understanding of our needs - even coming back a second time as we had a hard time deciding on what we wanted. Their team worked quickly and did a great job installing some beautiful new doors. We noticed after the installation that there were some imperfections on the hardware installed and they have agreed to replace them & their customer service was top notch. They responded quickly to some minor concerns and went above and beyond to fix the problem. NOVA Exteriors exceeded all of my expectations and they were worth every penny!! I contacted NOVA Exteriors about replacing a large heavy door with a strange 3 point lock. My goal in replacing the door was to get one with a keyless lock and I couldn't find any options that worked with the 3 point lock system that is apparently necessary for such a giant door. I was years into my search for a solution when I contacted Nova Exteriors, so my expectations were rather low. NOVA Exteriors found a keyless option for me, installed it perfectly (including a complicated repair to the exterior Hardie Plank siding that I was sure I'd have to hire a trim carpenter for) and then adjusted the tension on the locking mechanism until it worked perfectly with the electronic lock. Both of the folks they sent out to work on the door, the person who hung the door and the person who adjusted the lock, were detail oriented experts at their craft. I'm so grateful for their help. I feel delighted every time I effortlessly open and close the door which is about 20 times a day :) read more

We were thrilled with this company at first and paid them to install a brand new roof and gutters. We had also hired them to do our doors and windows. We have also referred many other homeowners to this company in the past, but that will never ever happen again. Be very careful when you sign an agreement with any company that warranties their jobs, because after only 5 years we had to get the entire roof replaced due to faulty work. A brand new roof should not have multiple leaks after only 5 years, if installed correctly. Our numerous attempts to work with Nova Exteriors to address the issues was met with extremely rude office staff, a dismissive owner and a "roof technician" that came out to the house and had a long list of excuses already prepared before he even got up on the roof or in the attic to make an appropriate assessment. We've had multiple different roofing contractors, in addition to a few chimney contractors come out to look at everything and every single one of them said that not only was the roof installed incorrectly, and our chimney was not the cause of the multiple leaks in various sections of our roof, but the list of reasons Nova gave us as to why it wasn't their fault were all untrue. When we tried to discuss the problems with the owner, the only response he gave us was that he's been in the business for a long time, and they couldn't have possibly done anything wrong so it isn't their problem and we'd have to battle with insurance if we wanted anything done about it. We were also told that if we required any repairs to mitigate the water damage being done to our home, we'd have to pay for it like any other customer. Purchasing a roof for your home comes with a huge price tag, and having peace of mind is something that should be included in that huge price tag. This company does not value their customers, and they have made that extremely clear. We recently got our windows replaced and had a pleasant experience. Rick was our sales guy. We really appreciate nova exteriors dont do high pressure sales techniques because we had enough of it and done with it. Rick did everything to work with our budget and gave us the deal we were looking for. It took some time to get them installed but in the middle of pandemic due to material shortages it's totally normal. Installation was painless, done in one day. Couple of minor problems occurred but they were very responsive and quickly came to fix. We need roofing next and will definitely consider nova again. read more

I have been working with Pete and NOVA Exteriors for a number of years. I was introduced to Pete when we needed some work done on our home in Vienna, Virginia in the early 2000's. NOVA replaced the roof, siding, and gutters of our home. I remember that the siding was not the color that I had expected. Pete worked with me to make sure that I was completely happy with my choice. Our experience was so good that we called them once we were settled in another home several years later. NOVA came and wrapped the wood trip on the entire home. Later we needed the roof replaced for a second time. The first experience had been so awful that I asked our insurance company if I could have NOVA do the work for us. Our insurance company allowed us to use NOVA as our contractor. We had some very detailed work that needed to be done on the outside of the house. Pete, the owner, worked tirelessly looking for exactly the right craftsmen to complete the job. He had been honest in letting me know that he did not have crews that could do the intricate work required to complete the insurance claim. However, he told me that he search for someone. He found professional craftsmen and they did the detailed work beautifully. Pete reached out to me two years later, just checking in. I did have an issue that I discussed with him. He sent one of his tech's out to inspect the roof. He inspected the outside of the home, found some things he thought needed care, took pictures, and went ahead and fixed the issues at hand at no cost to me. I have had several times during all of these projects when I have questioned a bill, or a payment, or like I mentioned the color of the siding, or something. Every time I sent Pete an email, he responded, and we work out whatever the issue was that was bothering me. Pete is a man of integrity. I think that NOVA Exteriors does superior work. I trust Pete. Someone did mention in the comments that there is little communication between you as the homeowner and the crew that comes to the house. I think that is a fair statement. If you want to have communication with the crew, be sure to let the person who comes to the house to provide the estimate know that ahead of time. These guys are a get the work done kind of organization. But Pete is very interested in customer satisfaction and would not like it if someone was not happy because they did not get to speak with someone. It is an easy fix. Had a very award and unpleasant encounter right from the start. The sales rep David was very pushy and unprofessional. His sales pitch started with "let's get the stupid questions out of the way first". Be more professional and use words like "simple" or "easy". He then kept pressuring me to use our insurance to cover the work. I explained to him numerous times I did not want to or I will consider it. But he completely focused on pressuring into the whole insurance claim that when I firmly told him no he seemed upset. Then tried to tell me he needs the decisions makers in the room or he will come back when they are available. Too much pressure off the bat is not only unprofessional but distasteful. I explained numerous times all I need is an estimate at this time. He then measured everything and assured me he would have the estimate to me the following night. I followed "his" instructions by emailing him so he could reply with the estimate. Over a week later with no response and no estimate. You only get one shot with a client. I do not chase companies. If you want someones business you do what you say you're gonna do when you're gonna do it. If you don't, then it's clear I cannot take you seriously, nor is your word your bond. Ouf! This has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a contractor. At this point it's been about 18 weeks since I placed my order for a new front door. Still no door and the owner (Peter) could NOT have been more rude about the situation and inconvenience placed on my family. After being strung along almost 5 months, calling and calling - I think I heard "two more weeks" about 50 times from their office. I'm about ready to forfeit my $1200 deposit and move on as the owner leaves me no other options... The door surround is nice, but the header was installed wrongly, with a backing piece that is too large and not shaped for the header - it just doesn't look right. After the job was done, I got a phone call that same day and expressed my dissatisfaction, but we had to call again to arrange for a consultation about the issue. We were then told someone would call to arrange a visit, after more than a week, they arranged a follow-up. The representative came by, but the owner emailed and said they would not fix it, but would give us a "courtesy" (i.e. partial) refund of around $100 (which, by the way, I considered insulting and did not accept). They have given me good options and helped my decision making with their knowledge of product. I have also recommended them to friends which I don't usually do unless I am confident that the contractor will do a great job. My friends have been happy too! I've used them for roofs, gutters and siding (on multiple properties). My friends in Silver Spring had a whole house of windows that are stunning - including a massive front window that has changed the look of their house. I came home to find their sign in a neighbors yard last year and they got the most stunning front door I've ever seen! A tree hit the side of my house in mid March 2019. At first it appeared to be a small job, only replacing the siding on one side of the house. It was then determined that the existing siding was no longer being manufactured, and all the siding would need to be replaced. Finding a company to do this work was a daunting task, but I finally settled on Nova Siding. Rick came out promptly, provided and estimate, and I signed the contract. We discussed the work would be completed within the next 60 days. I then decided to go ahead and replace all my windows at the same time. My expectation was that all of this would be completed before Memorial Day. I had next to no contact with anyone at Nova. I emailed my project manager, but was ignored, until I reached out to my Sales Person Rick, I then received an email stating they were waiting on the windows. In June, I emailed again, finally in July out of the blue I receive an email stating they will be coming to my home to install the windows 7/16/19. I was traveling for work and could not rearrange my schedule on such short notice. We agreed on a date in Aug 2019. Nova would have the siding delivered on a Monday, and the work would begin the next day. Instead, no materials arrived, but they did install the windows. The crew installing the windows never once spoke to me the entire time they were working in my home. When I called to inquire about the siding. They had forgotten to order it. So two weeks later they delivered it, and "worked" me in (as if they were doing me a favor). At completion, the crew left, again they did not speak with me, or even ask me to look at the completed project. So, I inspected it myself. Prior to this replacement, none of my phone or cables for TV were visable. The cable were hanging at multiple levels, at odd angles around my fireplace chimmy, as well as my phone lines. I had plywood exposed where the siding and the deck came together. The widows appear to be wonderful (I will let you know when it gets cold). The only issue I had with that part, the basement windows had dry rotted wood around them, and I agreed to pay extra to have this repaired during replacement. That did not happen. I began by sending pictures of my concerns. They sent people out to my home a number of times, however, they came when I was not home. I have never had a face-to-face conversation with anyone from this company, except my sales person. Sad. Anyway, they did fix the windows and I am happy with that part of the work. The siding, not so much. After my complaining, the last time they came out, the cut into my siding, made a notch, and hung my cables. The siding is sharp and now its cutting my cables. And they are still exposed and hanging down, and they secured a splitter at the bottom of my down spout on my gutter. When I told them I wanted them to replace the cut siding. They stopped responding. Maybe this is because I am a female homeowner and do not deserve the same respect as my male counter parts. My recommendation, Widows so far so good. We didn't end up going with Nova, but we did get a quote from them for new home siding. The salesman was nice enough, but the sales / estimate process took a long time and the price came in very high. If you are looking for expedient comparison shopping, maybe skip Nova. I can't comment on the quality of their work, of course. The salesman arrived as scheduled, but the sales process was laborious. We tried to move the conversation along, but it took a while to hear Nova's pitch (they use their own crews, which by the way, every siding contractor we spoke to said the same). Then we conducted a helpful walk around the house to discuss details. Then he took measurements. Then he proceeded to sit down in front of us and go through all of the math and calculations while we watched in awkward silence. I suggested that he could do the math later and email the quote, but he dismissed me because "I don't have time to email everyone." So we sat and waited for him to do math. Then once we got the estimate, it was pretty clear we wouldn't go with Nova. They were so much more expensive the the comparable quotes that we got that I assume that they must be overbooked and not need the business. One contractor quoted us $10,900 and a second estimated the job at $12,500. Nova quoted us $21,000. In all, the sales call took over two hours and within 10 seconds of the quote, we knew that Nova was not for us. Now, I know that you don't always go with the cheapest contractor (we went with the middle quote because we trusted that company the most), but we got three quotes to better understand what things cost. There's no way that Nova merited the kind of premium that they quote. If you are a person who wants to comparison shop, skip Nova. The sales process was long, slightly uncomfortable, and Nova is charging significantly above its peers. read more

Nova Exteriors recently replaced our 43-year-old patio door, which was in terrible shape, with a ProVia Endure door. Nova's representative, Sam Osta, arrived on time, gave us a thorough explanation of why ProVia's Endure door would work well in our home, stayed as long as we had questions, and didn't try to upsell us on "bells and whistles" we didn't need. Nova's crew did an excellent job of installing the door, working efficiently and cleaning up when finished. Now that we've used the door many times since the installation, we can attest to its ease of use, especially the dead-bolt safety feature at the door's bottom that operates with an easy touch of a shoe. Nova Exteriors replaced all of our windows in one day. The crew was amazing--like something out of Star Wars! Old windows disappeared, replaced by new windows in what seemed like a magical process. They cleaned up every spec of dust inside, and they didn't damage any of the plants outside--a major accomplishment I had not even dared to hope for. They were super efficient, super polite, quiet (despite the enormity and difficulty of their task), and masked. Their price was below--in one case, way below--other prices I received. I can not recommend them highly enough. The new windows have made an incredible difference in the indoor temperature; and the air conditioning is not running as often. IT'S BEEN 3 MONTHS SINCE THEY INSTALLED MY NEW ROOF--READ ALL OF THIS!!!!! The install was excellent, but this isn't about the install, it's after the job is done. You know when they walk away, have all of your money and contacting them is like finding someone on the witness protection program. Well surprise, Nova Exteriors is about as good as it gets. I am very hesitant to giving out the 5 stars, there is normally something you can find wrong to drop a star, but not here. My situation occurred after the installation 1st- Sam sold me the roof and he was great at it. He also touted how superb his material, install crew, clean up and overall customer satisfaction. 2nd- I figured that the install be as good as he says. The rest is just fluff. I was wrong, 3 months after the install; Direct TV came out and said my dish wasn't re-installed correctly. So they had to put a new one in. I called NOVA to tell them the situation expecting them to put up a fight about how good their guys are and its all Direct TV's fault. But NO, the owner and President- Peter Vlantis contacted me and reassured me that he will send a service tech within 3-5 days to fix the situation. All of this was billable to NOVA exteriors. They added new shingles, sealed the hard wood and removed the old equipment. They did this and I was not charged a single penny. Hard to believe but it's true. I may not need a new roof anytime soon but I know who to call for siding, windows and doors. I did think any company really cared before and after the fact anymore. But NOVA did. When we met with our sales person Rick he told us we could probably do an Insurnace claim on our skylights with all the hail we had a little bit ago and that he would even meet the adjuster. me not k owing "their" process and paperwork I signed a contract and gave a deposit. I didn't think that it was wowed because I had a $1000 deductible anyway on my home owners insurance. Getting new windows and a sliding glass door was a daunting process, mostly because of the number of companies out there and not really knowing the difference between window types and if it's worth the expense. We had a positive experience with Kenny at Nova Exteriors when he came to our house for an estimate. He wasn't "salesy" (especially compared to reps from places like Window Nation that used annoying pressure sales tactics). The options were straight-forward, and we liked the company history & products/labor warranties. The negative would be cost (on the higher end of estimates compared to others we received) but at the end of the day we went with the company we liked and decided to pay more for overall quality. It's hard to know if we get up-charged for location (the same windows in a different county are probably a certain % cheaper) but that's out of our control. The installation went smoothly, and the team was friendly, efficient, and did a nice job. We hope to enjoy our new windows and sliding glass door for many years to come! read more

Don't waste your time contacting them. Here is my experiennce: They scheduled an appointment - then cancelled. I called them to schedule another one - they didn't call back. I emailed them and didn't get a reply. I emailed them again - a week later and finally got a reply saying they will be able to do the estimate about a week later and then I would get a proposal. 10/30/09 Update: Yesterday, Nova Exteriors warranty and service administrator stated she will contact the original installer who does his own scheduling. I asked whether the installer is currently GAF certified b/c if he is not, any repair would void the manufactuer's warranty...I am awaiting a call back. Update to review below: 10/29/09. The employee who has been assisting us at Nova just called back stating that upon her urging, Nova will honor the labor warranty. She states they will have the person who originally did the work come out to fix the problem. Original post: Nova Exteriors "at this time has elected not to honor the labor warranty" on the roof of our house that was replaced in 2006 by the previous owners even though the roofing contract states that there is a 10 year transferable labor warranty. When we called Nova Exteriors about our leaking roof about 2 weeks ago, they asked us for the roofing contract. I emailed a copy of the 2006 roofing contract. After several back & forth emails (see one of the emails below), we are waiting to hear back from Mr. Vlantis, the owner of Nova Exterior, who will be "handling our concerns directly". In the mean time we have filed a compliant with the better business bureau and of course we have obtained legal advise. Also, given the delay in Mr. Vlantis' response we have contacted GAF (the manufacturer that states Nova Exteriors is a certified contractor for GAF materials) and will be contacting other consumer protection agencies. Years of accumulated melting snow, and just 'wear and tear" necessitated a new basement door. After getting quotes from several vendors, I signed a contract with Nova Exteriors which clearly was the best decision: a new steel basement door with a lifetime warranty. A great choice in comparison to products sold at local stores or by other vendors in MVD area. What also sets Nova Exteriors apart frankly is their "install team". The experts actually 'listen" to the customer and display professionalism, "attention to detail", and expertise. Such was my experience with the door that I gave Nova Exteriors additional work for several window replacements. It's a stretch to say that Nova Exteriors serviced the issues. The fact is that we gave up and dealt with or live with the issues. I fixed many of the problems myself...which I was trying to avoid by hiring a quality firm. Today, I am still dealing with paint that rubs off with the slightest bump due to lack of surface prep (the paint crew did not even come with any sandpaper, I gave them mine, but they still did not use it), bathroom tiles that do not match the rest (they have a different color and pattern, but we just live with it and hope we are the only ones who notice), and the aforementioned molding that is slanted across the room. I will reiterate that the door crew was excellent (although they were quite disgusted that the interior crew wrecked the glass by scraping with a razor blade). Likewise, we used Nova for siding, trim, and gutter work many years ago, and loved the work. He came by twice across the 6 month period it took us to decide and we never felt pressured. He matched the color of the new door to our exterior perfectly. The install team noted our threshold was completely rotted away under the metal and took it all up to ensure water proofing without hassle or up charge, just good quality work. NOVA Exteriors exceeded my expectations. I recently purchased a home in Arlington built in 1971 with original wood windows. They obviously weren't energy efficient and so I contacted several window companies to get a replacement quote. Rick from NOVA was pleasant and not at all pushy to deal with. I picked my window replacement for all my double hungs and the next step was for me to get an appointment for measurements. In between I ended up wanting to replace my picture window in the front of my house as well and Rick was able to update my quote and get me the window I wanted without coming back to the house. I will say, the time I waited between measurement and the initial sales call was longer than I wanted, but that's not to say it was abnormal. Having moved into the house, I was fairly impatient to get the project done. Having sensed I was upset and growing impatient, Peter the owner called personally to assure me I was being taken care of appropriately. I got the call with the expected window delivery date which was bumping up against a week long vacation, but NOVA agreed to fit me in the day before I was leaving. I had been through window replacement in my previous home and it was no picnic. That company's crew made a mess of my house and yard. NOVA's Mr. Kim and his crew worked like surgeons in extracting the existing windows, replacing and capping. They even took their shoes off when working on the inside of my home. We were extremely impressed with the quality of work and attention to detail the Nova Exteriors crew showed on our April 2014 siding project. It was a difficult, messy job that other contractors said couldn't be done. But this crew approached the job - removing vinyl siding, removing insulation, then removing 140 year-old wood siding and some blown-in insulation - with smiles on their faces and hard work. We can't say enough good things about the crew and the quality of workmanship. They took photos of high up places and showed us what they were doing to solve problems. We replaced the old siding on the back of our house with Hardieboard. Also, all the windows were recapped. read more

In 2017, Nova replaced my roof on my single family home. They did such a great job (timely, professional, great work) that I asked them to look at a townhouse that I own to see if they could replace that roof (in 2018) since it was damaged by wind. They assisted me in getting the paperwork done to have insurance pay for the replacement and they were once again professional and timely. They did all of the work that needed to be done, including getting the drywall replaced in a bedroom due to roof leak. I have recommended them to others and received my referral award. The owner is very involved and reasonable. I met with 2 different sales people and both were knowledgeable and polite (not pushy). read more

Just What We Wanted! Our salesperson was Sam, he was excellent. He listened to what we thought we wanted and offered recommendations to achieve the goal of the project. We had a new front door and a new side door installed. Great price, easy ordering, timely delivery and wonderful installation. We could not be more pleased. It was hassle free. The company was easy to work with. Ordering and payment was smooth. Installation went as scheduled. Clean up was great. Just a delightful experience. read more
