Beware of Price Gouging and Poor Quality Installation and Materials!! I recently had Nova Electric, Sergio Garcia do my electrical work at my new home. He upgraded all my lighting, restroom fans, exterior lighting and add outlets throughout the home. His prices were extremely high and I allowed him to do the job as he is licensed and I assumed he would be doing professional work and guarantee his work. As he was doing some of the jobs everything seemed to be going well. His workers were nice and professional. Once he was installing my exterior lighting I was questioning the quality of the fixtures he was putting in. Since I was paying almost $50,000 for the job I assumed everything was top quality, i was wrong. He installed the cheapest lighting, fans, and exterior low voltage lights. Within a couple weeks the lights in my house were going out, the fans were rattling, and the wiring was coming up from exterior planters of which he assured me were going to installed 6"deep. Also he claimed to have the cleanest installation of which I was shocked to see was wrong. When I went to pay him he requested to pay him individually to not pay taxes. When I paid him he didn't provide me with receipts for the work or close out the invoices he originally provided me online. After the install I noticed he was using wire nuts not all weather clamps to install the exterior lighting since the wires were all coming up. Also my new LED can lights he installed started going out. Also the exterior lighting fixtures were falling apart as well. My bathroom fans started to rattle. Also i checked all the exterior wiring was not installed 6" under the ground like he put on his invoice. I tried to ask him to fix these items and provide me with my receipts and he didn't respond to me and has left me high and dry. Per law any licensed contractor has to provide a 1 year guarantee on their work. I called 2 other licensed contractors to provide the same estimates of the work he performed and their prices were 20-30% cheaper than his as well. He also acted as contractor for concrete and had my entry done with wrong finishes and color of which he is only licensed to do electrical not concrete or general contractor. Since he is non responsive, i now have to file a complaint with the licensing board and hire another electrician to fix the work he has done. I would not work with him again and I hope anyone gets second options on price and confirm the materials you use with Sergio Garcia and his company. read more

When a few essential kitchen plugs suddenly stopped working, I hired Sergio Garcia, Nova Electric, to diagnose and fix the issue. I only wanted a professional because of my home's outdated electrical system. He is a fully certified electrician, and he quickly found the issues with the plugs/circuits/breakers and the electrical panel itself. The old system has short aluminum wires that are hard to work with. The panel also was in a very difficult, tight spot to move or work in. Regardless, Sergio didn't quit until everything was working as it should. He has the skills and knowledge to solve problems. Electrical work is expensive, but the alternative is a potential home fire, which is frightening. You get what you pay for, and electricity is nothing to gamble with because of the fire hazards if things are not done correctly. This is when you definitely want and need a professional who is certified. My panel was in such a bad location next to the water faucets and hoses behind the washer, so he recommended moving the panel to the outside of the house. He and his team member (trying to remember his name!) worked methodically to move the wiring and install a brand new panel and breakers. I could see it was a big job, but they finished earlier than I expected and cleaned up afterwards too. It was nice they labeled the breakers for me so I know what switch controls what plugs. If you want a true professional, I recommend Sergio Garcia and Nova Electric and his team without hesitation for any of your future electrical needs. A shout-out to the drywall expert who Sergio got to patch the dry wall for me where the panel was removed from. He was punctual, efficient and professional, keeping everything protected while working and then cleaning up before he left. To my surprise, he was able to finish in hours, instead of a day or more. I will start off by saying I'm a bit of a nervous person and not very trusting at all BUT I take care of two units in LA that are very old. I did my research and I kept getting discouraged with the responses I'd get from some of them. I even hired an "electrician" I know in hopes of saving some money (many of us know how expensive they are) Anyhow, a pretty penny was spent but only to put a bandage on the problem. My wife and I bought an older house in the city of Torrance, CA about a year ago. Nearing our one year homeowner anniversary, we started experiencing electrical problems throughout the house. We had older wiring and an outdated electrical panel which was badly in need of being upgraded and replaced. After some research, Sergio Garcia of Nova Electric came highly recommended, so we set up an appointment to get an estimate. Let me just say that calling Sergio was the best thing our family could of done. My wife and I were thoroughly impressed by his knowledge, professionalism, work ethic, and honesty. We have two little ones and knew that we had to do something quick about our current situation, seeing as none of the outlets in the house were safe for the kids to be around. Sergio let us know that none of the outlets in the house were grounded and we did not have enough circuits to properly run everything in the house. Basically everything was outdated and needed to be brought up to code and modern day demands, regarding electrical devices (computers, tv's, appliances, etc.) Sergio encouraged us to go out and look for other estimates which we did. However, whoever we met with did not give us the comfortable feeling that Sergio did. We met with a half dozen other electricians, and by far we felt Sergio was the most honest, qualified, and trustworthy when it came to a quote for a brand new 200 amp electrical panel upgrade and whole house rewire. Before signing the contract Sergio sat down with my wife and I and went through everything that would be done step by step including having the city inspectors come out and sign off on all the electrical work done including permits (all permits pulled passed city inspection with flying colors, even the inspectors were super impressed by the work done by Sergio and his crew). Once the contract was signed Sergio and his crew began work and finished on time. Throughout the entire panel upgrade and whole house rewire, Sergio and his crew stayed on schedule and finished everything on time. Also, during the whole process everyone was super careful of all our belongings and made sure to cover their tracks figuratively and literally when it came to keeping our house and possessions intact. They covered the whole house with drop cloth and heavy duty paper taped down to make sure all our possessions were safe and protected. And once done they made sure our house was cleaner then it was before they started. Since we were already having the electrical panel upgraded and whole house rewire done, we decided to have Sergio install recess lighting in the living room, kitchen, hallway, and bonus room (kids playroom). As well we also had Sergio and his crew install motion sensor lighting around the entire exterior of our house. They installed an exhaust fan, which was badly needed in our bathroom. Also as part of any new rewire we were required to install hardwired fire alarms in each room, which was a relief knowing we wouldn't have to worry about replacing batteries every so often. Not only was the whole house rewired, so was the garage, now I have ample lighting when working on do it yourself projects. Sergio recommended installing an outlet and running all cable wiring behind our TV mounted on the wall above the fireplace. Glad we did so much easier to have everything hidden behind the TV. On Sergio's recommendation all the recessed lighting is LED and he installed dimmer switches to control the comfort level and mood setting of the lighting. Lastly I asked Sergio to install Lutron control switches in each bedroom so we can control the speed and light setting of all the ceiling fans in the bedroom by switch instead of having to pull their strings. I have posted pictures of some of the awesome work Sergio and his guys did for us. On a final note I just want to thank Sergio, his crew, and Nova Electric for all the effort and hard work they put in to make sure my family was safe and comfortable after their work was done. Shortly after all the work was done, Sergio called to make sure everything was working properly and just wanted to make sure we were happy with all the work (oh yes we are, now that's excellent customer service for you). Sergio will be the only electrician I will ever call when it comes to any type of electrical work I will ever need in the future. I highly recommend Sergio and Nova Electric to all my family, friends, and anyone else who needs any type of electrical work done. We used Nova Electric for a large home remodel via our General Contractor. Sergio's work was great. The project was for a complete re-wire of the house, including a new 200 amp service panel. This was quite a large project. He is very organized, and documented all of his circuits and wiring locations on the architectural plans for future reference. Sergio was up to date on all recent code revisions, as well as Title 24 requirements for all lighting/electrical work in California. All inspections passed with no issues.
