I haven't used their services yet, but during a call, Mr. Ahmed clearly explained the process my teenager needs to follow to get a VA license. We live in NoVa but my child now goes to an independent school in MD versus a VA public high school, which offers drivers education. I really appreciate him taking g the time to answer my questions and walking me through what was needed. read more

If you are irritated by drivers who just SIT and drive SLOW in the take over lane, the left passing lane without moving to the right like you're legally supposed too; then DONT use these instructors. Driving instructor had student driving for nearly two miles on Jeff Todd hwy causing traffic build up CRUISING the left lane with no one in front of them at all. read more

I do not recommend this driving school. It was very difficult to schedule classes and you have to pay upfront. We actually did not finish the courses because the instructor was too busy. We still are owed 2-3 classes, and the instructor doesn't follow up to make sure you are on track. Unfortunately, we never received reimbursement for classes not taken. (Not sure why review says I'm in San Francisco. I am writing from Alexandria, Va.) There are better options. My daughter had a week of lessons with Farhan in the spring. His style was very harsh and critical. He didn't seem to be focused on teaching so much as on correcting, and this was with a student who HAD NOT DRIVEN except in a parking lot, which he was clearly told up front. His manner was angry and intimidating and he communicated poorly with me, the student's parent. He was late for several lessons, in one case by over an hour and a half, and DID NOT CALL. His excuse was that he left his phone at home. We set up lessons and then he tried to change them at the last minute to suit his schedule because he had a gap and wanted to be done earlier. I had to press pretty hard to make him understand that we had already planned our day around the agreed-upon schedule and unless it was an emergency we were not open to a schedule revision. It was pretty ridiculous. My daughter did learn a few things. He got her on the highway surprisingly quickly -- day two of lessons. I'm not sure I would have done that, but it worked out OK. But his approach was so harsh and cold and he was so unreliable and uncommunicative and frankly rude that I would never recommend him. It's possible there are other instructors at this place that are better, which is why I'm not giving it the worst rating. But I would advise anyone with a teenage driver to consider a more highly rated school. We finished out the lessons with Farhan and then chose a different school when she was ready for the Behind-the-Wheel course. She actively enjoyed the second school, whereas she spent every minute with Farhan gritting her teeth and trying to tough it out. read more

My daughter had a horrible experience with the instructor Farhan. Here is a list of the things he did. -made fun of my daughter as soon as she got in the car for "looking too young too drive" -was extremely passive aggressive, didn't explain anything thoroughly, and started yelling suddenly when she didn't understand what he was asking for -blew up at my daughter for merging lanes without asking permission, started talking about his trauma from a past accident, and threatened to send her home without a license -vaped in the car while my daughter was driving I'm writing this review so no one has to feel anxious while driving with this instructor. read more

Sundas was a great instructor. She certified both my boys for getting their drivers license. She was very patient, and they really enjoyed the classes with her. Obviously, they were very excited to get their licenses, and I really appreciated Sundas's flexibility in scheduling times that fit their busy school/sports schedules. Ahmad was fantastic. My daughter has ADHD, and had a really difficult time before we used NOVA Driving. She was also was extremely nervous and despite our best efforts, my husband and I could not get her to leave the neighborhood while driving the car. She was getting more and more frustrated, rather than better. However, after completing the package with Ahmad, she has driven to her school, doctor's appointments, etc (with us in the car of course since she's on her learner's permit). The instructor was absolutely rude, impatient, and made the lesson very uncomfortable. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this driving school. The experience was not worth it. I dreaded every moment and am relieved I do not have the relive that horrible experience. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. Look elsewhere. *I am not confusing this school with another school. I was in the NOVA area at that time. It was the male instructor who was unbelievably rude and we could not get our money back because you had to pay the $350 upfront. My mom came to visit from Egypt and if you've never been to Egypt, you will not understand how people drive there. To sum it up, I can guarantee you that half the Egyptian population who's been driving for yrs back home would fail the driving test here. So, she decided to look up driving schools online to get some refresher driving classes before taking the exam. After coming back from her first class with Farook she told me about how great he is and advised me to take classes with him as well. I'm 25 and before this August I was never interested in getting a driver's license. Just thought I'll never need it and that I'll never be able to pass the test, but then I got on the road with Farook and all of a sudden I was actually driving a car. Both my mom and I got the five class pass, and even though my mom asked him a million times if she or I needed extra classes before going to take the test, he said we were both ready, and guess what? WE WERE. We both passed the exam from the first time. What I really appreciated about Farook was the fact that he knew when we were ready, he didn't agree to give us extra classes just to get the money out of us, but he truly cared about us. Plus, he's super relaxed and calm from the first moment you step foot in his car. Truly appreciated! read more

My instructor, Mr. Farooq, was very professional. He knows how to make you feel confident and comfortable while driving. He knows how to teach you how to drive safely and gives you a very clear instructions and steps while driving to make it easy to learn driving especially for someone who never drives before :) someone like me. The prices are high as most of the driving schools here, but completely worth every penny. I passed the behind the wheel test from the first try. Comparing to my other friends who tried other instructors from other companies, my driving is much better than them even though we all had 10 hours of learning. I passed my driving exam and some of my friend with other driving companies did not. That is how Nova Driving School is very good. I am very satisfied with the results and the experience with Nova Driving School was very amazing and enjoyable.I really recommend NDS to everyone. read more

I want to say thanks to Nova Driving school - Mr Ahmed. I took 3 classes since I know the driving and I would say you will get guaranteed licence. He teaches in very professional way with clear instructions. If you even don't know driving or little bit, I would recommend this driving school to everyone in VA. There are so many but Nova is the best. I would suggest if your not comfortable please speak up and tell to Mr Ahmed, he will help you out and make you relax and I would suggest if you are planning for road test, take the classes and go immediately do not give break in between. My instructor Mrs. Farooq was a very informative teacher. I would highly recommend this driving school to anybody looking for a complete behind the wheel immersive experience. I had a lot of questions going into the school and Mrs. Farooq answered all of them and then some. First off this school sets itself apart from others because they include the drivers test at no extra cost and deal with the DMV for you COMPLETELY, They issue my license to me directly instead of the long lines and even longer wait times at the DMV. The teaching is well done and always directed to you in a calm manner so as not to critiicize. I am actually giving a 2 for the lady instructor. She was very patient and taught me well, but the man was very rude and always yelled at me. The lady could not finish my lesson, so she asked Mr Farouk to continue with me. He was very rude and always shouting and he keeps driving all the time rather than letting u drive . Believe I had the worst experience here. If you have to go to this school, u should ask for the lady not the man and the worst part is if you are a beginner like myself. read more

I just cant say how thankful I am to have found out about NOVA Driving school....my family's driving journey starts when I was looking for my mom for driving classes and found out about this school so I went ahead and called...my mom failed her first exam and she was refusing to take the driving test again except when she took classes with someone and after 5 classes..she took the exam and passed....never saw my mom so happy to pass something like that in fact she was so happy that she told my sister to go with him and guess what she passed too....both of them encouraged my younger sister to learn from him...ps my younger sister didn't know the difference between the gas paddle and the breaks but she always talked about how calm and relaxed Mr Farooq was. I even laughed since I knew my sister didn't know anything about siting behind the wheel but again guess she passed....I couldn't believe it because i promised myself that I wouldn't even try and sit beside her while she was learning because i would have a heart attack.....last but not least my dad a few days ago passed his driving class and guess who we always thanked yup you guessed right its Mr Farooq...I don't have 1..2..3 proofs that he is awesome I have 4 yes 4 proofs all my family passed cause of this guy...Don't believe me just try with him and see how you will pass so fast Thank you Mr Farooq for getting all my family their liscences read more

I didn't have much experience driving and ended up needing to take a DMV approved behind the wheel class for failing the DMV test 3 times. I signed up online and got an IMMEDIATE response to set up a time convenient for me to begin the classes. I cannot say enough good things about this driving course. My instructor was very patient and calm. I have nervous issues when I drive but he kept me completely relaxed and gently corrected me when I made errors and told me how to correct them. The instructor was very rude and inconsiderate. I am a non-experienced driver and had no help from family or relatives, so that's why I signed up for this course, but instead of teaching me, the instructor reprimanded me every time I made a simple mistake. Even when I followed the instructions, I always felt this sense of anxiety because the instructor was quick to judge. I definitely do not recommend this driving school.
