The free coffee while you wait is a good look, especially because even at 10:30pm on a Monday morning there was a wait. I went with the eggs Benedict and argyle combo to get a taste for the Montana meat, the salmon was so-so on the Argyle, hard to compete with what was in NYC, but the the traditional eggs Benedict with the Montana ham was excellent. Didn't come up for air once I started. I was hoping for a little more ambiance like at Snooze in Denver or something a little more warm, and western, but overall very good. read more

This is actually 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. The hostess was extremely slow to acknowledge me, and the 5 people behind me waiting at the hostess desk... No biggie, it's Montana time but we were all looking around at each other wondering if any one of the 20 employees hustling around were gonna greet us :) I was sat outside and Brendan was my server. He rocked!!! He went above and beyond with a great attitude. I ordered the breakfast burrito. There was nothing too special about it. It was mostly potatoes wrapped in a giant tortilla. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing but it left me feeling underwhelmed and unsatisfied. I'm still giving it 4 stars because it's a cute little cafe and the service was good. My extended family (a party of 10) had brunch here on a Saturday at 1 PM and loved it! The servers were friendly and we received our drinks and food quickly. We especially appreciated how often they topped off our coffee. I ordered the Greek Egg Scramble and it was awesome. It included feta, red peppers and house made walnut pesto that made the dish very flavorful. The scramble came with toast and home fries that were cooked perfectly! In order to conserve water, they only provide drinking water upon request. So, if you want it be sure to ask! I appreciate the commitment to sustainability. I loved the decorations and the locally sourced food. This place had a great vibe and is a top contender for the best breakfast food in Bozeman! read more

We had walked by this place several times and it looked like fun - especially what we saw of of the food from the outside diners. We tried to eat outside,but our group of 5 was too big (technically 4 1/2; but even with a kid, they limit the outside tables to 5. So we were seated in the colorful inside with really efficient waitstaff; we were in a bit of a time crunch getting some of our party to the airport, and they were really quick. I've been here twice now, not overly impressed either time. It's an eclectic taste, quite unusual in décor and menu. Don't expect larger portions first off, and their staff weren't very happy/friendly, more straight faced and a bit awkward. The food was sub par and their coffee menu is quite pricey for small portions. They are clean. Some what fast, but we did wait for a very long time for our check or for refills on the coffee. There are simply better places in town for a wait of 20-30 min+. read more

Bozeman, to be fair, has plenty of great breakfast joints (The Cateye Cafe, Mainstreet Over Easy, The Stockyard Cafe)--but The Nova is easily the best. The hardest part about eating at the Nova is choosing a single item for breakfast. I love their Tom Avo eggs benedict--and they make great shakes to go. Their daily specials are ALWAYS amazing (though sometimes they run out before the morning's through). The coffee is good--and there's an a full espresso bar, if you prefer. Many of the ingredients are locally sourced. The atmosphere is exactly what every breakfast restaurant should be: light and colorful (without being garish), and filled with delightful local art. This, competent service and particularly great food makes the Nova your de facto Bozeman breakfast destination. read more

I have frequented Nova Café since they opened. They have good service and typically good food. I love their coffee and their fresh-squeezed juices. They give you fresh cream and cane sugar for the coffee, and their grapefruit juice is wonderful. I like their M-F early bird special. It was my mainstay for many weeks in 2007. I also enjoy many of their specials. I like odd pancakes, french toast, and whatever else they conjure up. The "Morning After" dish is also one of my favorites. My only complaint is that occasionally, my bacon is undercooked (they use thick-sliced local bacon). Also, once, my pancakes were uncooked around the blueberries within (perhaps the blueberries weren't thawed before use). Overall they are very good, but at times their line cooks lack complete attention to detail. By the way, they offer sidewalk seating, weather permitting. read more

My friends and I each split one of the Benedict options to try them all--they were all fabulous! Hard to pick a favorite. I think the lox might be a strong contender. They unfortunately were out of cold brew, but the server made some old fashioned ice coffee, which was ok, but disappointing when the craving for cold brew hits. I had the turkey hash bowl with sweet potatoes and hollandaise sauce and it was pure perfection, from the fine consistency of the turkey, small-cubed potatoes that were cooked well, to the hollaindaise sauce that was in just the right amount. There was quite a bit that could have gone wrong with this bowl but they definitely pulled it off. mmmm. We were able to make it over to Nova for breakfast this week and it was super. Had 3 kids with us and sat in the circle booths on the right. Kids enjoyed (and ate all) their breakfast---french toast with egg, and pancake with egg. Eggs cooked perfectly. I had the Tom Avo eggs Benedict---excellent, avocados are always nice in the morning! Since it doesn't come with meat I always order sausage on the side---so nice to have local high quality meat (I also snatched a bite of the boy's bacon and it was perfect and perfectly crispy). Love the chalkboard at the entrance that lists were much of the food came from. Coffee just ok this morning, and even though we specifically asked for cream it really acted like 2%milk. Disappointing. Also, I know it was breakfast rush (8:30am on a Wednesday) but everyone seemed harried---barista/host couldn't make eye contact and the waitress was brusque, would have felt better about the whole experience if there was some friendliness. There's coffee available while you wait, but it's not very good. The sausage was awesome. The home fries were good; I'm not a huge fan of home fries, I'd prefer hash browns. The service was lacking. Best breakfast in Bozeman... by far. The kitchen is willing to work with your order to make sure you get what you want. The staff is friendly and fun. Atmosphere has great local artists and cool music. It's packed on the weekends and it's worth the wait. I always get 2 lbs of Nova coffee to take back to Mn with me to hopefully last me until the next time. Nova Rocks. Period. The Nova is my favorite place to eat breakfast in Bozeman. The wait to get in on a weekend day is really quite long, so be prepared for that. The eggs benedict are some of the best in the West, and I love the potatoes. One of my favorite aspects of the restaurant is its commitment to sustainability. The Nova participates in a Montana Farm to Restaurant program, and serves local beef, produce, eggs, etc. I like going to a restaurant and knowing my money is going back into my community. All around, though, The Nova supports local people and local issues, which I appreciate a lot. The only negative comment I can make about the place is that I have had some lackluster, if not downright inattentive, servers. I've had a few good servers, but I've had some really awful ones, too. We waited outside on a gorgeous summer late morning for quite a while for our group of 4, which was not the worst thing in the world, and is to be expected on a weekend at 10am. I'd heard some good things about Nova Cafe. When we finally got seated, it was kind of warm and muggy inside. My food was really disappointing, especially for the price we paid. I ordered a scramble with some mushy, tan hashbrowns and a boring biscuit on the side. It was not what I was expecting, I could have spent half the price and gotten crispier hash browns at Shari's. Maybe they were having an off-day, but first impressions are everything and I don't want to risk my money by coming back to this place again. I don't think I'll be returning here. read more

Have passed here numerous times and finally made it in for breakfast. Ordered "The Deuce" (2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon). The pancakes were huge. However, they were SO flavorless, I only ate 1/2 pancake (where the butter had melted) before pushing the plate aside and moved on to the eggs and bacon. Coffee was good though. This place is amazing. They have a huge selection of breakfast delicious-ness and they have tons of options for people with dietary restrictions, like lactose intolerance. They have creative options made with local eggs and meat. Potatoes and eggs are always cooked correctly. I have never once had a scorched egg here. They usually have a great benedict special or a scramble on the weekend menu. My advice is to get there early. If it's after 8am I usually walk further up the street. Sunday mid-morning there can be a crowd waiting on the sidewalk; I imagine this is where some of the service comments come in.
