In this economy it's really hard to find healthy affordable options. I have no problem paying for…read morehealthy food, but what a nice surprise to actually find an affordable gem not too far from where my parents live (and where I am most of the time when I'm not traveling or living abroad as a nomad). I never have a need to get hummus from the grocery store or even make it myself when I'm in Pensacola anymore! The hummus at Chickpea house is so good and super affordable. The menu is super simple. Pita, falafel, fries, hummus, tahini, and a few veggies for salad and to make a sandwich (which is a pita with falafel in it). I would like to say this place is vegan, but since I didn't see it listed anywhere on the menu I'll just say that this place is good for vegetarians for sure. Not gonna lie I love Mediterranean meats and I would love to see kafta or any lamb on the menu. I understand that the simplicity is what makes this non-traditional Palestinian restaurant efficient and fast casual, however! To be honest, the fact that falafel is really the only protein available is probably the only reason why I'm not at this spot once a week while I'm in town. Other than that I highly recommend!

The chickpea nuggets were bland. They could really use some seasoning. I didn't like the tzatziki…read moresauce either it was a bit too sour. The fries were WAY too salty, I could not eat them. The staff could definitely use some work in the hospitality and customer service department. The kiosks in the front seemed impersonal and the staff literally refer you to the kiosk for everything. The interior is nice and clean but weird. The front where you order is disconnected from the eating area. A side of hot sauce is a dollar. Totally not worth a dollar for hot sauce. The sandwich on pita was said to be good. I didn't try it.

Cafe Single Fin: Great Concept, Average Plate…read more Cafe Single Fin is one of those places where the experience starts before you even find the restaurant. I drove around the block several times looking for it. Turns out, the restaurant is tucked inside a surf and skateboard shop. Once I finally figured that out, I walked in and immediately knew this wasn't going to be your average Pensacola lunch. The cafe is basically the centerpiece of the shop, surrounded by some seriously interesting vibes. I was greeted by scream-o music, which eventually segued into coffeehouse music and then some lighter indie stuff. Quite the musical journey. I half expected the playlist to ask me to pick a lane. What drew me in was the menu. Clean, interesting and exactly the kind of thing that makes you think, OK, these people might be onto something. I went with the blackened mahi tacos with rice and beans. And this is where things got a little less interesting. The food was fresh. The presentation was nice. Unfortunately, the flavor never really showed up for work. The mahi was supposed to be blackened, but I'm not convinced the blackening seasoning actually made it from the kitchen to the plate. The beans were also undercooked and under-seasoned. Nothing was bad, exactly. It just lacked the punch that the menu had promised. And that's the frustrating part. There is clearly a cool concept here, and the menu has enough personality to make you expect something memorable. The plate just didn't deliver the same energy as the room. Maybe I'm simply outside the target demographic. There seemed to be a pretty strong twenty-something surf/skate crowd, and perhaps I'm just not fluent in the culinary dialect of that demographic yet. Interesting place. Interesting concept. Interesting vibes. Friendly/helpful staff. Pretty average food.

I love this cafe! It is one of the coolest spots I have ever visited. Amazing coffee, delicious…read morefood with so many vegan options, plus a skate park, surf shop, and retail clothing all in one. My go-to is the vegan Costa wrap. It is 10 out of 10, packed with protein, the melted vegan cheese is actually good, the burrito is seared and crunchy, and the salsa is perfect. The vegan pastries and desserts are phenomenal as well. I highly recommend the s'mores cupcake or the banana bread. They also have tasty smoothies. The pumpkin spice latte with oat milk or a vanilla iced latte is also great. The staff is very friendly and personable, making it a great place to sit and get work done. With a skate park, surfboards, shoes, clothing, and other goodies for sale, there is so much to explore. I highly recommend checking it out!

I arrived at my hotel, I was tired, and just wanted a bite that wasn't a. fast food or b. catered to tourists. Debris delivered and then some. First, it's my type of place: dive bar with tables. Not all over-decorated. The moment you walk in, you feel like you're in a local tavern. No one was at the door but they saw me and just let me take a seat. The menu came over, the table was a little sticky, and they came and wiped it even though I said not to bother, I'm fine. The menu: Drinks are a bit limited. Good selection of bottles, rather limited on tap, but I found a good brew. And for food, you can't go wrong. Obviously, with the name, I chose a Po Boy - the standard Debris with the beef and au jus. I wish I could give more than 5 stars for that elegantly massive hulk. Dripping in its jus, which I still sopped up off my plate. Oh, I could easily eat a second one of those no matter how full I am. Sinfully good. I wish my conference didn't feed me so much, or I would have come back here every night. I did my best to recommend it to everyone else who was looking for lunch or dinner. And I am 100% recommending it to you.
