I keep my boat at a neighboring marina and reached out for help with my boat's engine. Over the course of a couple months one of their technicians tried several times to solve my problem, and worse told me several times that he had fixed it when the engine clearly was not running right. After seeking another opinion, another mechanic was able to diagnose my problem within an hour and then replace the broken part within an hour as well, and now my boat runs like new. If I hadn't used Safe Harbor for this issue I likely would have saved signficant time and money.

I was refused service without consideration and berated by who I am assuming was the owner or manager in front of other patrons and the staff. Let start from the beginning. Norwalk Sailing School lies within a park that charges for parking for non Norwalk residents (which was not disclosed on there website). This park also prohibits pets. So, after paying to get into the park and verifying my K-9's credentials we were in. We then arrived at Norwalk Sailing School. I left my K-9 in the truck while we payed and filled out paperwork. This was to avoid any crowds and children that my be over curious of the K-9. After the paperwork was done the young man told me it would be about 30 min. Which I was fine with because we didn't have a reservation but were still getting the boat we wanted. So we returned to the truck to get our things and my K-9. We then proceeded to walk around the sailing school and to watch the other people and boats. After about 20 mins we then walked back into the staging area to get ready. As soon as we got there an older, short, tan gentleman who I am assuming is the owner or manager began berating me without warrant or instigation. "THAT DOG CANT BE HERE." "MY INSURANCE DOESN'T COVER DOGS/PROPERTY." "WHAT SERVICE COULD A DOG PROVIDE ON A BOAT?" "I DONT WANT IT TO DAMAGE MY PROPERTY." "IT WONT BE COMFORTABLE ON A BOAT ANYWAYS." "YOUR JUST TRYING TO BE SLIPPERY." "I DON'T CARE IF ITS A SERVICE ANIMAL, GET IT OUT OF HERE." "GET OUT OF HERE." So we went to LONGSHORE SAILING SCHOOL instead. There the staff was very considerate, and helpful. And gave me or my K-9 any problems. Oh yeah and it ended up being cheaper also. I highly recommend LONGSHORE SAILING SCHOOL.

Safe Harbor Stratford is an exceptional marina -The staff is awesome, the facilities are modern and…read morevery well tended, and their service is second to none. Our dockmates were quite genial, and access to town and all the major highways is direct and only a few minutes away. This spring we had the marina replace our prop shaft and cutlass bearing, and install a dripless lip seal in place of the old stuffing box. Encountering a few perplexing problems along the way, they solved them effectively and efficiently, and did a marvelous job of it. The new seal is tight and dry, and everything came out fine. Again, I must say that the staff at Safe Harbor Stratford is beyond outstanding. They are all quite professional, more than a little accommodating, and always with a friendly and good natured attitude. Their technical staff is knowledgeable and highly skilled, and the dockyard staff are always ready to lend a hand when needed. All in all, one of the best marinas I have seen.

SSC is such a great place if you plan to sail on LI Sound or beyond. It offers sailing classes out…read moreof Norwalk. Particularly, the sessions taught by Martin, the owner, were fantastic with both sailing basics and hands-on tips. The classes were intense at times but made you a better sailer. SSC has a variety of sail boats (from daysail to 40 footer) you can have access to after enrolling one of their membership plans which are quite reasonable in my opinion as opposed to owning a boat. Additionally, there are other sailing opportunities (I.e. racing etc) to hone in your skills and enjoy what LI sound has to offer. It is a local family owned business with friendly team. The students and members I met at SSC are easy going and great to hang out with.

The staff did the best they could under the circumstances making sure that we were adequately prepared to use the equipment; but if they were better trained, it would go a long way towards making for a safer and more enjoyable experience. Quiet, alcohol and pet free bay beach and park. Lots of parking, clean and close beach from parking…read morelot. No boardwalk nor eateries but they do have restrooms. Rocky beach and no waves because it's on the bay. Parking is $22 for non residents. Wish the water was clearer but it's natural. Brought water shoes but didn't really need them if you're careful. They have an East beach and West beach within park. West allows bbqs, larger fields and nice views. East beach is more like a beach due to lifeguard staff. I arrived at 11ish, paid $22 (non-Connecticut residents have to pay) and found parking immediately. Around 12:30 the parking lots were at capacity and closed. I love how there's so much to do at the park. You can grill, go to the beach, go for a walk and even ride your bike. It's a great time. The beach is small and full of rocks and pebbles. The water was freezing even in the hot weather. The walk towards the water is even worse. There's rocks everywhere you step and can be extremely painful. My sister and I both cut our feet trying to get in and out of the water so I HIGHLY recommend getting some water shoes! My favorite parking lot is the west side only because there's a bathhouse where you can change, use the bathroom and take a shower. Highly recommend to come here for a fun beach day or picnic or grilling. Love love this place!

I'm certainly not a mini golf junkie, and Cove Marina is certainly not one of those crazy courses…read morewith waterfalls and bridges and props decorating the course. But, for $5, you golf 18 holes, look out at the ocean, and are actually quite challenged (though one of us did get two holes in ones.. But I'm chalking that up to skill (luck), rather than easy course design). The course is clean, people friendly, and a very cheap date night. Will be back soon, and hopefully be the one with the holes in one this time.

Norwalk Cove Marina offers 18 holes of miniature golf for $9 per adult. You won't find any…read morewindmills, loop-de-loops, or other fun obstacles on this course; rather, rocks placed in the middle of holes, "bunkers" and "rough" (made of longer artificial grasses), and the slopes and bricks shaping each hole are what will challenge your score. In a sense, it's a much more golf-like version of miniature golf that tests good putters who can plan their shots and use good touch to get putts close. And the staff has kept the course in good shape. While I enjoyed the challenge, I feel like there is a missed opportunity here to make this course really fun and memorable. Not many mini-golf courses are located on a marina, so even if there were more boat/ocean/anchor/seashell-type decorations around the course (even if management didn't want to change the layout of the course), I think it would feel more enjoyable.
