It's a unique casual outing for friends/families/couples/kids. I live in Stamford, about 20 minutes away and cannot believe I hadn't heard about this earlier. I managed to catch the last ferry of the 2018 season (note the calendar posted on the Norwalk Seaport Association website) and can't wait for next year to do this again! Getting there/parking: I had originally plugged in the Norwalk Seaport Association address into maps, but the ferry itself is actually just over the little bridge. We parked for free across the street from the Seaport Association and walked over, but there is also a paid parking lot immediately in front of the ferry departure. We arrived about 5 minutes in advance and bought tickets at the booth without any issues. They accept credit and cash, and you can sit anywhere on the ferry. Our trip had about 30-40 folks, including some older people and young kids (toddlers). The ferry ride: So relaxing! The ferry takes a leisurely pace up through to Sheffield Island, about a 40 minute ride. The ride is smooth, and we were able to stand up and walk around the ferry if we wanted to. I think this would honestly be fine for anyone sensitive to motion/sea sickness. There are usually a lot of small boats and tiny islands in that area, and its nice to sit back and catch a breeze. On the return trip, the captain took us on an extra loop to better see the Manhattan and New Rochelle skylines which were visible on the horizon. Such a cool experience, and I had no idea it could be seen all the way from Norwalk! Sheffield Island: The tour of the historic lighthouse was really interesting, and its clear that a lot of effort and love went into setting this place up and restoring it. When we went, the lighthouse was under renovation, but an amazing fantastic volunteer snuck my husband and I up, and what a treat! The staircases/ladders were narrow but the views up there were absolutely stunning and so worth it! It was a clear beautiful day and we could see the water, the coast, the sound, and the Manhattan skyline off in the distance. Absolutely amazing. I don't think there's any other view quite like it. We had a few hours to ourselves on the island, and since the lighthouse tour was just about 30-40 minutes, there was plenty of time to walk along the shore. There was lots of sea glass, shells, and even a few horseshoe crabs. The shore is a little too rocky to actually enter the water, but there are lots of boulders to sit on and enjoy the view, and it's very peaceful. Even with a full ferry, the island was not crowded at all and we could spend some time sitting on the benches, chatting, walking around at our leisure. There were picnic tables set up, as well as a nature walk (sadly closed due to ticks, but we'll have to do that next year) Tips/advice: - Bring a camera! Trust me you're going to want to take a lot of photos of the view from the lighthouse tower. - Book tickets in advance, online, since the ferries can be filled up. - The ramp is a bit steep, so if you're bringing kids, bring a small portable stroller, since bulky might be a little heavy to push up. - Wear rugged slip-resistant shoes, since the shore is quite rocky. - Pack a picnic! I think you can even BYOB. Some lemonade, a caprese sandwich, some olives, while enjoying the view...perfection. All in all, a fantastic experience that I can't wait to share with family and friends!!

This tour was definitely a highlight of our trip! Captain John and Charlie were great and all the passengers aboard had a great time! We passed three lighthouses-Peck Ledge LH, Sheffield Island LH and Green's Ledge LH. Charlie, co-captain of Captain John, had just toured the inside of Green's Ledge LH the day before which is listed on Airbnb for $6,000! He went around the ship showing everyone the floor plan. It especially exciting to be on the Long Island Sound and to see the red and white towers from Northport, since I live on Long Island!! We were able to see several different viewpoints of the sunset and osprey nests as well. Definitely recommend to residents of Norwalk AND tourists alike!

Here are some things you'll need to know: The Pier Pressure II is Stamford's only pedal powered party boat operated on Stamford Harbor and goes out into the Long Island Sound. It's a 90 minute excursion that is perfect for corporate outings and team building, as well as office, bachelorette, family, friends and birthday celebrations. It fits 26 guests at 12 pedaling stations & benches, a bar table, coolers, has a bluetooth stereo and also a bathroom. Private Cruises begin at $749 and Public Cruises are sold by the ticket, starting at $55, and seat up to 22 passengers. Guests do tip the Captain & First Mate since they rely on it to pay their bills. Suggested tip for Private Cruises: $200-300 and $10-15 per person for Group Cruises. BYOB! Drinks - beer, wine, hard seltzers, ciders, canned cocktails and the like are suggested. Please avoid bringing glass on board. Their waiting area is located at 1 Harbor Point Rd, Stamford, CT 06902 down the steps and under the blue canopy. You'll see Pedal Cruise signs along the way. Staff will let you and your group down to the boat through a locked gate when the boat is ready for boarding. What a great time!! A group of us (10) were celebrating a friend's 50th birthday. From start to…read morefinish, we had a fun time. The entire staff is so accommodating. Tables were reserved for us in the back of the ship which was ideal. Everyone received a complimentary cocktail and there are several snack food choices available to purchase (ie fish and chips, pretzels, etc. In the lower level, is the bar and you place your food order and the staff brings your food directly to your table, piping hot. The scenic route is just so relaxing and the vibe on the ship is so friendly and upbeat. The star of the ship, however, is DJ Esco. Oh my!! DJ Esco played music from my era (1970's) thru the 80's 90's to present. He knows how to get a party started and keep it going!! It was one big lovefest, from the children to the seniors on the dance floor and if not dancing, singing from your seat or while taking in the views. Happy Birthday was sung to all the birthday folks and though the time just flew by it felt like we had been cruising longer than two hours. A time was had and will not be forgotten! This was my mom and I's first time aboard the Emerald princess and it was something I've had my eyes on for quite sometime. I was very interested in their fall foliage cruises but was unable to get around to booking. A brunch cruise came up on my instagram feed around the time of my mom's birthday and decided to treat her. We departed at 11am and circled around by West Point and came back. It was a beautiful Saturday morning with smooth waters and blue skies. The boat was very spacious, comfortable and welcoming. On the table they had a lot of Peekskill attractions to encourage you to venture out around the town. After departing at 11am we were served complimentary mimosas and the brunch buffet was opened shortly after that. The spread was wonderful. They served eggs, bacon, sausage, two types of quiche, pancakes, seasoned potatoes, penne vodka, chicken francese, assorted muffins and fresh fruit. Everything was served hot, fresh and delicious. The buffet was not self service but it was opened right up until a few mins before the cruise ended. There was plenty of food and no shame in going back for seconds or thirds! They had a friendly bartender that had soft drinks, waters, wines/beers and cocktails made to order. The views were amazing from the upper and lower decks. We had access to the entire boat. The owner came around to greet everyone and surprised us when she announced that if anyone wanted to drive the boat the opportunity would soon come! My mom was thrilled. There is a picture of my mom actually steering the boat in a captains hat lol! I loved seeing her happy and knew I made the right choice booking us tickets with R.M.S cruises. I really couldn't recommend it more and if you need some extra convincing please refer to the picture of my mom with the captains hat on. Her happiness from this brunch cruise is infectious!

There are some snacks and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase on the boat as well. The boat is fitted with stools around a wraparound counter and some comfortable bench seats in the front of the boat. The captain and first mate were welcoming and helped make this a relaxing, enjoyable experience! If you are someone who enjoys being on the water, I would highly recommend trying out a twisted tiki cruise!

Maybe consider getting a liquor permit because at the end the captain made an announcement that guests on other rides were bringing their own liquor back to Dockside after they got off the boat. Seems like the process needs to be streamlined a bit better. We were also told to get there at 5:45 only to wait until 6:00 to board. I probably would only seat 20? 25? as 30 people we were sitting on top of each other.
