I had a will call account with Amerigas but, unbeknownst to me, they filled the tank anyway. I…read morefound out because I received a bill for $720 for 200 gallons. Call #1: I called and confirmed that the account was will call. Told them I'd pay the bill and called other propane companies for information. Call#2: Explained that since the fill was not requested they needed to remove the gas. I was told they'd send someone out. Call#3: No one came out so I called a week later to find out when it was scheduled. They had not scheduled anything. This time I received a case number and was told a manager would call me in three days. No call. No voicemail. Fed up, I paid the bill and switched companies. Where Amerigas charged me $3.22/gal, this new company charges $1.65/gal. The customer service with the new, local company was exceptional, and they did what they said they would do. Do not use Amerigas unless you're okay with paying double for crap service.

I won't bore you with a drawn-out story. Suffice to say our camper stove didn't work and thus I…read morelearned we had a broken propane valve. The other propane companies that I was referred to (left unnamed) either didn't have the personnel available to fix the problem, didn't have the part, and/or there was a lack of competency that I didn't feel comfortable with. But when I called Vanderyacht Propane the fellow I spoke with at their main Lynden location knew exactly what I was talking about. I made the drive and he replaced the broken valve (which wasn't exactly easy to access) inside of 15 minutes. Not only that, but he filled my propane tank and tested the stove before I left to make sure that everything worked 100% for our travels. Totally worth the drive and worth every cent I paid for the job (which was going rate and very affordable). If I have any problems ever again with RV propane or any other propane need, I'm going to save myself time and frustration and go to Vanderyacht Propane. They have our locations: Lynden, Burlington, San Juan Island, Orcas Island. PS: Their office is very nice and they have a stupid fast propane-powered zero steer mower that's to die for.

This place is terrible. Had help from Opportunity Council to get set up on propane with tank and…read morethe whole works. At first they were going to come and inspect where I wanted the tank. Then that appointment got moved from them. Then couldn't get another date. And now they gave me a credit application to fill out. If its denied than they won't deliver the tank or propane. Real nice bunch of jerks. If I had lots of money I wouldn't be using Opportunity Council. Told them thanks and thanks for wasting my time. Opportunity Council was going to pay for the whole set up of tank and propane. So I could say that Northwest Propane discriminates against low income people. The receptionist wasnt very polite either. And Levi never returned calls.​

If I have a home or garden project, Ferndale Ace Hardware is my go to store…read more This year alone they have helped me in finding materials for fixing my toilet, interior paint for our home office, random hardware, spackling, sanding and drywall tools. They really do have a little of everything here. The store has a good layout and its easy to navigate each department. I especially like that the shelves are not too high for me to reach. Being 5' 2", this is sometimes a challenge. The customer service is great. Sales associate Daniel (who I have had the most interactions with) is friendly, knowledgeable and is always able to answer my toughest questions. This store also serves free popcorn, and who doesn't like that! *Ace also deserves an honorable mention for their help with the local cat rescue organization. Be sure to check out the enclosure at the front of the store. Nobody seems happy to be there and it's a hassle for them to assist you. At all cost, stay away from this store and travel to Lynden or even Bellingham Ace Hardware. You will be much happier. Sorry Ferndale Ace Hardware, your store just sucks.
