Owner of Fastcap is also an author. We have recommended his books as well as items from Fastcap pretty regularly until today...warning, unless you are of a similar political bent to this guy, don't subscribe to his newsletters!
The 2 Second Lean book is informative, videos are well done; however, the author uses his LEAN MANUFACTURING newsletter to promote a political candidate. Aside from the fact that the candidate he is pimping in his newsletter is a brilliant neurosurgeon but a mumbling, bumbling, blinking, slow talking MORON politically, I do not believe that the place for polarizing opinion based propaganda (for either side!) is a theoretically business-centric newsletter. Politics is polarized...no surprise there and when you subscribe to a business related newsletter, you should be able to assume a level of neutrality...if you want a newsletter for or against any politician, candidate, political party, or social issue there are millions of newsletters and sites to subscribe to for it. Unsolicited political punditry should be left outside of professional relationships. The pushing of a political agenda in a newsletter that SHOULD be about lean manufacturing processes is bad enough but when an email response expressing displeasure with the insertion of political content where it did not belong ("Please note that your political leanings do not belong in a newsletter about lean manufacturing. Please also note that this gentlemen thinks the pyramids are ancient grain silos. If you want to promote lean thinking you should select a better representative then someone with a very loose grip on reality.") was sent in reply to the newsletter, a very snarky and unprofessional email questioning the intelligence of a CUSTOMER...yep, someone who bought multiple copies of his book...one for personal use and several for use by peers and coworkers followed ("Wow XXXX (name removed) I once learned that the measure of intelligence was the ability for someone to hold two opposing thoughts in their mind and still be able to have a rational discussion. Thanks Paul FastCap 5016 Pacific Hwy. Ferndale WA "). Paul Akers may be a Lean Genius but he has much to learn about treatment of customers, appropriate communication with an audience of professionals (save the political mumbo jumbo for your friends!) and taking criticism that was invited by mixing his personal beliefs with his business communications. He's inappropriate and a jerk to boot. read more
