I had a will call account with Amerigas but, unbeknownst to me, they filled the tank anyway. I found out because I received a bill for $720 for 200 gallons. Call #1: I called and confirmed that the account was will call. Told them I'd pay the bill and called other propane companies for information. Call#2: Explained that since the fill was not requested they needed to remove the gas. I was told they'd send someone out. Call#3: No one came out so I called a week later to find out when it was scheduled. They had not scheduled anything. This time I received a case number and was told a manager would call me in three days. No call. No voicemail. Fed up, I paid the bill and switched companies. Where Amerigas charged me $3.22/gal, this new company charges $1.65/gal. The customer service with the new, local company was exceptional, and they did what they said they would do. Do not use Amerigas unless you're okay with paying double for crap service. read more

Make sure you keep a close eye on your own tank! Was on auto refill and for some unknown reason (they couldn't tell us) got taken off. Well after running out of propane and calling we had to wait a week before they were able to come turn our heat and oven/stove back on. I realize we live quite a ways outside of town but maybe they could arrange it so in cases like this someone can come out right away? read more

I would stay away from this company. I had been a customer with Propane Gas for 19 years. However, Service in Blaine appears to have greatly deteriorated in the last few years. Most former customers have no doubt figured this out because you rarely see a Propane Gas truck in the area anymore. I was on a monthly payment program, but got off after they collected a balance of about 2k more than what I was using. In spite of this the company continued to bill me monthly for propane and charged me about 50 % more than the going rate for propane in the area to re-fill my tanks. So my balance came down very quickly in my last year with the company. Prior to the cold snap this January my tanks were at about 35 per cent and I requested a refill. Propane Gas advised it would take two to three weeks before they could to re-fill my tanks. Facing this grave situation I had to find another company immediately. Propane Gas quoted me $40 to pick up their tanks over the phone, but billed me $65. Propane Gas let the partly filled tanks sit on the street in front of my house for almost a month before picking them up. They now want $101 with late charges for having the tanks picked up. I should have at least $75 in dry tank vouchers that should be used to cover this. read more

I would read all the reviews available. Most are not good. Mine is not good. They charge way more for propane and tank rental than two other suppliers. Get quotes. Before you sign a lease, be sure to read the fine print that they can charge you for various things like tank pick-up and tank pump-out even though they do not specify these charges up front or in details. read more

Worst company ever. Ran us out of propane 3 times. I asked to move tank for over 3 years, the move was to be at my cost. Now they are charging me $39.95 for tank pickup because I wanted a more reliable company, who by the way installed the tanks where I wanted at no cost. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! read more

I have done business with this company for 16 years. During that time, I've had issues with them over allowing my 500 gallon tank to run very low and because of the volume of propane. resulting in huge bills. It took getting a heat pump to avoid this issue. What has caused me to switch providers recently was discovering that I was being charged 2 1/2 time the rate charged by other providers in my area!! Like most people, I had assumed that companies had to be competitive- wrong! When I called to complain, they were willing to give me a partial credit, but not match the going rate. Their customer service is terrible. I have yet to have any sort of explanation or apology. They are mad at me for putting the word out to my neighbors and are finally being forced to lower their prices because of so many complaints and threats to switch providers. Switching for me was the only option. I will not do business with a business that so blatantly cheats their customers. There are several highly reputable propane companies here in Whatcom County and switching is quite easy. read more
