I've been using Sunset Car Wash for 10 years. always great cus service and care even though my cars are never nice or fancy.

I love this place! They always do a great job with the car wash. I recommend getting the premium wash because it's not that much more expensive than the cheapest option and you get more bang for your buck. I love that the vacuums are free. I went there today and didn't get a wash but I was having trouble with the vending machine and an employee gave me four free tokens to get a sponge and a scent tree. This review is about the self service, the soap spray isn't even soap it's just water, none of the options do anything but the soapy brush if you want to scrape your car and don't get me started on the water pressure, its worse than your tap at home. read more

Extremely long line but efficient; beginning to end took about 15 minutes. Can pay by card or with cash as you pull up to the cashier. We splurged on the triple wash for $14. Starts of with a soapy pre-rose by an attendant before loaded onto the tracks and ends with a dance routine from the employee doing the hand dry. This was by far the best part. read more

If you don't want your car completely clean this place will do. However if you want the whole car clean, move on. White cars it will probably pass quick inspection, black cars will look like the kids washed it. Staff is friendly and works as fast as they can, and with a smile. Nice crew. read more

I've been coming here for several years now. On my recent trip (January 13, 2019), I noticed a couple of positive changes in their service. So, I thought a review update was in order. Positive Change 1 I noticed a change with pre-washing. There were two people, rather than just one. So, they in essence spent twice the time as much as they used to to prepare cars for the machine. Positive Change 2 The casher has always been friendly. This time, the casher was not only friendly but also very polite. Generally, I like polite service but he was awkwardly polite or too polite for a car wash place. He even offered a disposable wipe for the dash. Conclusions In my original review, I described them as an "average" car wash, but I have to say, with the changes I described above, it is above average (4 stars). I'm not sure if they will always keep two people for pre-washing or it was just because it was a busy day (it was sunny). The only reason I do not give 5 stars is the drying process. In my original review, I pointed out that my car was always dripping wet after they "dry" it. The management responded to my review. In all fairness, it has improved. However, my car was still pretty wet this time. I understand it costs them extra, but I think they need two people to dry cars properly (unless they are willing to spend more time on each car). Recommendation If you decide to try this place, I recommend the "Triple" ($12 including tax). It's only $2 more than the basic wash but it comes with undercarriage wash, triple wax, etc. I would avoid the "Works" ($14) as you would be paying $2 extra just for rain-X and an air fresher. read more

This place blows all but one of their stalls is broken and I can't wash my car I've been here three times over the past two weeks and all but one of the stalls is broken and the one stall that does work has a long line of cars so I can't use it I don't know why I bought their stupid tokens they don't answer the phone when you call them I've called multiple times to try to get a refund on my tokens but they don't answer I'm not coming back here this place sucks read more

Used for the first time having moved into the neighborhood. The machine which you have to prepay with a credit card offer very poor almost non existent instructions. I don't know what the deal was with the brushes for soaping and removing the grime off the car. I had to do it 3x and its still wasn't perfect. A charge for $10 was posted to my credit card for almost a week before adjusting to $4.50 for soap and rinse wash. read more

If you know anything about me (besides that whole beer/food obsession and a borderline-unhealthy obsession with 80's music) you know that I'm absolutely passionate about keeping my car clean. In fact, I try to get it washed weekly...weather dependent, of course. And on those days when a washing becons and I find myself in the center of Bham, the Sunset Car Wash is a fine choice for a quick spruce-up. While their prices are a bit higher than other washes in town, they still do a nice job on my car and - even when the line is long - do a great job getting me and my fellow washees through the line. They also provide a dash towel or two so I can wipe down the inside of my car. At the end they have several vacs to use, though the suction isn't as strong as other spots around town. I'm awarding an extra star for the dancing guy who hand-dried my car at the end! read more

Left Sunset on 2/8/20 at around 3pm. I had a VERY bad experience with "Adam", the cashier. I have NEVER encountered someone so rude with nothing to provoke it. My first time in 49 years. I'm been doing business with Sunset Carwash for over 30 years. I would like to say that the family that owns the establishment are good people and will go out of their way to take the time to listen and find a resolution to what happened. I know their not there all the time and rely on employees to represent them well. Today just wasn't one of those days. They also took their valuable time to call me back within 60 minutes on a Saturday. That means ALOT. Thank-you! I would have given a single star but the owners deserve better than that for taking the time to listen to me. I feel I have to leave a comment of some sort because of how I was treated by Adam. I believe if it happened to me, it must have happened before to someone else or might in the future.... I explained to them that I will not be bringing any of my 5 vehicles through the moving wash anymore with the risk of having to have contact with Adam. Pull up to the side of the building to select your desired car wash option and pay. For about $15 you can drive through an automatic car wash and have your car looking decent until it rains again in the next 24 hours. (Hey, it's the PNW, what do you expect?) There is a worker at the start who will tuck your windows and will spray any tough dirt spots. He will then direct you to drive onto the track and put your car into neutral. Sit back and relax for a few minutes while the monster brushes and sprayers lather, rinse and dry your vehicle. Another worker at the end of the wash will use towels to crudely dry any excess water spots that the automatic fan didn't get. Lastly, he will put your mirrors back. Be sure to tip at this point. Those who want a more thorough cleaning can pull up to a stall to wash their own car. I'm much too lazy for this option. I'd rather sit in my car singing to the radio as it cruises through the automated wash. For Bellingham, this is one of the better car washes I have found, but I sure do miss businesses in other states where your wash includes workers hand drying your entire car and vaccuming the interior for you for the same price. At this location, I like getting "The Works" with Rainex. That stuff makes the rain bead and roll off your windows so that you can still easily see the road in a storm. With The Works, you also get to select an air freshner or a token. I like to get the latter so I can use the vaccum machines to clean out the interior of my car. The token will only last about 3 minutes, so you will probably need more to get it thoroughly clean. You can use quarters too. The tokens can also be used at the vending machine that sell individual applicator sponges of Armor All. Those are great for cleaning the dash and console. There are wipes for cleaning tires too. My car always looks squeaky clean inside and out after a visit here...well, at least until the next rain. read more

The drive thru car wash works great. A gentleman will pre spray the areas with caked on bugs that are hard to get off. My car was spotless.

I used the 24 hour self serve wash pretty late at night and I gotta say it was decent for the price. There's some interesting characters around there at night so just be aware or go with a buddy if you're there late at night. Usually I'd wash my car at home but I just moved here recently so I didn't have any of my usual car washing/detailing stuff. I drive a lowered car but had no issues getting in and out of the driveway or into the stall. A lot of self serve washes have issues keeping the foam brushes clean but this one was clean, no issues with it. Obviously some of the wash options are a little gimmicky but if you know what you're doing you can clean your car for a pretty decent price. I would recommend waxing your car yourself as the wax left white spots all over my friends red car and didn't bead water super well but other than that, no issues. Overall a good experience, I'll be coming back here when I need a quick wash. read more

Look if anyone knows anything about automobile paint and plastic trim you will stay away from automatic car washes. This particular car was took my brand new Honda Accord with 1000 miles and put horizontal scratches all over the door trim. It's a high gloss black piece of trim that is around 13" tall by 4" wide. It showed everything In the sunlight. The car was so new this was its first car was ever and they could not be buffed out with plasticX polish. It's bogus I called you guys out on the phone I don't just run to the internet to rant I will straight tell you. Look the proper way to wash your car is two wash buckets one for soap one for rinse and or a foam cannon. Working top to bottom, there is no quick and easy way to anything In life so I'm not sure why people think that doesn't apply to washing your car. I get these car wash vouchers from Honda after each service I am not kidding when I say I have 25 of these free washes just sitting around I won't use I wouldn't even send my worst enemy through a automatic car wash unless it was touchless read more

This was my first trip to Sunset Car Wash. Everyone was wearing masks and social distancing which was a plus for me since I am 76 years old. I didn't choose the most expensive wash, but they still did those extra things like protecting the mirrors, wiping the car down instead of the blower some places use, and even providing free an Armorall dash wipe. I like the people here and I like that after your car is washed it's not only blown dry, but an actual person wipes it down to help with drying/streaking. Also, they have large mirrors on both sides of the car wash so you can see if there's any dirt/debris on your car. What I don't like is that, for my SUV, there are certain areas that do not get cleaned. The worst is the rear door/hatch which has obvious dirty areas where the brushes don't seem to touch/clean. One other thing is that I wish the The Works wash had an option that was slightly cheaper and didn't come with an air freshener. We don't use them and I dislike that they're automatically included. read more

I visited the Sunset self-serve car wash after a recommendation from a friend. I used stall #1 and the water pressure was equivalent to my shower nozzle. Not exactly what you want from a power washer to clean up bugs and road grime off your car. This ended up with a sub-par car wash for $8. The card reader didn't work on my American Express but that's to be expected. The pre-soak setting also didn't work for some reason during my wash. Overall, I'd recommend finding another car wash in town or doing it yourself. read more

They provide a quarter machine for change and also have air fresheners, towels, and tire shine cloths. The vacuumes provided have good suction compared to some car wash places i have been to in the past. If your not in the mood to wash your own vehicle then you can use the option of driving through the automatic car wash. Prices are good from $9.00 to $15.00. The Owner is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. I went through the car wash and one of the scrubbers hooked on to my bumper and tore it off. I couldnt even drive home. I got the works on my car after hitting a dusty gravel road. The auto wash did an ok job with the exterior panels and didn't cause any paint issues. My wheels were however almost as dirty as before which was disappointing. I'd stick to brown bear if you have a choice. read more
