    Nooksack Valley Disposal & Recycling

We are very happy with Nooksack Valley Disposal. Employees are cheerful and efficient. The…read morefacilities are well maintained. Of course, Saturday morning on a sunny day it is going to be very busy so we try to choose another day to make the run to the dump. So grateful that we don't have to go to Ferndale or further to dispose of our trash. We drive by almost daily and the place is always neat and clean. Kudos to your hard work!

My husband & I went to Nooksack Valley Recycling Depot to drop off a load of various recyclables…read more When we arrived the only place to park was in front of the bin where you would drop off trash as all other spots near the recycling bins were taken by others dropping off their recycling. As soon as we parked our car and my husband got out to pull out cardboard from the trunk of our car, a woman from the office literally came running out and proceeded to scream like a banshee in my husbands face, yelling at him that you can't put your recycling in the trash bin! My husband hadn't even put one single thing in ANY of the bins and he told her I'm sorry ma'am but I was going to walk this over to the recycle bin before you came over here yelling at me. I then told this extremely rude woman that we have been a customer (not by our choice) for over 10 years so we know EXACTLY where all recycling goes! And you don't need to be so rude to us! I truly wish there was another choice for disposal/recycling service for our area because I would "dispose" of Nooksack Valley Disposal in an instant. Their drivers are all good & responsible but their office staff & customer service are the absolute worst! Zero stars for this horrible company.

Tonight I witnessed a Sunrise Salvage flatbed truck merging on the freeway. There was an RV in the…read moreright lane, who was prevented from moving over by another car in the left lane. The Sunrise driver absolutely REFUSED to yield in order to merge, eventually forcing all 3 cars to be driving side-by-side down a 2-lane freeway. It was insane. THEN - the Sunrise Salvage flatbed, obviously pissed that the RV had the audacity to not slam on the brakes in order to let him have his way, zoomed over, passed the RV and cut back over in the most aggressive manner I've ever witnessed. The RV had to swerve in order to avoid being hit and and damn near drove off the freeway. So I called the company to report unsafe driving. I got "Steve." When I started to tell him my story he demanded to know what vehicle I was in. I told him I was in a white minivan. He then proceeded to tell me that he was IN the vehicle with the driver and started to list all the ways that the RV driver was "wrong." (Note, merging cars do not have right-of-way.) So I asked Steve, "So are you telling me that when your driver swerved over to cut off the RV that was safe driving?" He replied, "Well, that was a little bit of payback." I informed him I would be calling the police and he hung up on me. I prefer that local companies not play "payback" on I-5 with a large flatbed truck and a 40-foot RV. At 70 miles an hour. He is lucky no one was hurt or killed. I will NEVER do business with this company, and I suggest others in Whatcom County follow my lead.

I came to Island County ("the dump") to get rid of a carpet Grandma had when spending a few days…read morewith her. The carpet was large and we were charged a flat rate. We were able to back the car up to the dumpster area and get close enough that there was not too much wrestling to get the carpet into the dumpster. She had some other items she was thinking of getting rid of, such as paint, and when we asked about disposal we learned that oil-based and water-based paints required different disposal procedures. Learned something new on our visit. We went in the morning soon after it opened for the day and it was not too busy, the worker at the entrance where we paid the flat fee was friendly, full of insight, and eager to share what she knew to help out.

It was my first time going to a dump around in this area and they're not that easy to find but I came across this one and it is open seven days a week that accepts virtually anything before disposal. It's a little intimidating cuz it's very massive but once you're in they way your vehicle with your disposable Goods they allow you to go back into the area where you get rid of your disposables and then on the way out yeah, the way your vehicle and then they charge you the difference. I had a bunch of stuff from the house several toilets broken mirrors frames and a bunch of other stuff several hundred pounds ended up costing me 30 bucks.
