The staff answered the phone and got me scheduled right away. The inspection crew that came out was very thorough identifying places where the squirrels were entering. They kept me informed every step of the way and took photos of the problem areas. They wrote up a proposal so there were no financial surprises and the proposal comes with a year guarantee. Samuel V came out today and closed up all the open spaces. He too was thorough and kept me informed and also showed me photos of the work. I highly recommend.

He went under the house, found evidence of a new rodent incursion and then covered the whole property to mend the holes in mesh that covered crawlspace vents, set traps and then came to explain what was going on under my floors. He showed me pictures of both the problem areas and areas that appeared secure under my house. We then walked the house perimeter to show where the critters likely got in there during the recent snowstorm. I'm confident in the accuracy of his assessment. He'll be back in a week to check on the traps. I have needed a new vapor barrier down there so I will be getting a bid for that as well. All in all, the pricing was fair and the service exceptional. I called to ask for more information about their services and they answered all of my questions without any pressure to sign up. I appreciated that they explained in advance which products they would use and gave me a realistic timeline on how quickly we'd see results. Once I signed up, they were able to send someone within a few days. Their service technician Brad showed up right at the start of the 2 hour window and he was truly courteous and professional. He told us which products he was using and how they worked, and gave us a fact sheet as well as some pre-baited traps to use if we saw more ant activity inside the home. He also removed wasp nests and even filled a small hole in the crawlspace vent on the exterior of our house, which I feel was really going above and beyond. After the service was complete, I got an email with all of the details of what was applied and where, which I think is an excellent practice. It's only been a few weeks since the first treatment, but the number of ants inside our home went down pretty quickly and lately we haven't see any at all. I do understand we may see more as the ants move through their life cycle, but I'm really pleased with the results so far.

After that other contract was over I found a pest control company the right way- I did an internet search and found a few candidates and read some reviews, and concluded that Aspen looked like the best prospect. Since then they've done a pest control service visit four times a year and I have had very little problem with any pests during that time. It's always hard to know for sure how much it's helping because you don't know how well it would be going if you didn't have the service, but it has been going well and I have always been very pleased with the professional and friendly attitude of the Aspen personnel.

We chose them because of their humane way of dealing with wildlife, which was my main concern. The awesomely-super-cool Cory came out to check on our raccoon and found she was a mom with at least one baby. She had clearly been living under our house for a while, as there were multiple nests and tons of damage. Cory gave me all my options on how he can remove her and her family, while also educating me on the ways of mama raccoons. (I was amazed to learn they are very clean animals making multiple nests as needed to maintain a clean environment for themselves and their babies.) Obviously I wanted the most humane and safe way to get rid of mama and her babies. I shared all the info Cory gave me with my husband that evening and we decided how we'd proceed. However, we didn't need to have Cory remove her, because mama raccoon took it upon herself to leave our house that night, and took her baby with her. (Clearly having Cory and my heads poke down below the entry door shining a flashlight at her in the middle of the afternoon kinda spooked her - she got the hell out and took her kit with her as soon as night fell!) Once mama raccoon and family were gone, we had the awesomely-super-cool-amazing Cory come out to assess the damage - the DAMAGE was almost $3,000! Yikes! But not to fear, our awesomely cool homeowners insurance company took care of all but $450.00 - yay! On Friday, June 16th, 2017 - the day of the repairs: Oh my gaaawd! I can not say enough about these guys! 4 (maybe 5?) guys (including the awesomely cool Cory) showed up at 9:30am and went right to work. They protected every inch of my home where they needed access: entry, hallway, master bedroom, master bathroom, master closet - ALL protected against anything icky they needed to pull out of there. They were all nice, polite and considerate. They did a great job - A GREAT JOB! We now have a completely clean, repaired, non-stinky, lovely smelling crawlspace thanks to the awesomely-super-cool team of Cory, John, Tyler, Cameron. (I think these were their names, but I might be wrong - my apologies if I forgot or misheard names - I tried to remember...) When their crew came out to remove our 30-year-old manufactured home insulation, and found it was much, much thicker than they normally encounter and the job couldn't be completed that day, their crew went out of their way to finish the job for us on a day that was not their normal work day, just because they cared about our situation. We contacted Northwest Pest Control after reading other reviews on Yelp. My email was answered promptly with an estimate that seemed reasonable and a time frame set up (we had seen some German Cockroaches, ewwww!). Daniel was courteous and answered all my questions and was quick to respond. I came home to bug carnage and the carnage continues. It grosses us out, so our vacuum is getting heavy duty, but I know the treatment was effective. I can't tell you the relief in knowing that I'm no longer sharing my home with these little pests. I would highly recommend Northwest Pest Control. Daniel listened to what I asked and responded quickly with a reasonable price and guarantee. I had a carpenter ant problem that was occurring through most of the summer at my home (seeing 5-10 ants in the kitchen area every day) and I gave Shrum's Pest Control a call. The moment Holly picked up the phone she was so pleasant to speak with and completely understood the problem as soon as I started explaining it. I'm a detail oriented person and both Holly and Kelly are very much into the details when explaining the work they do. I loved how Kelly explained my options and the costs associated with it. A basic full exterior spraying for carpenter ants costed me around $250, but it can range upward depending on the square footage of the home. Kelly set expectations and explained additional work (interior powder in crevices, etc) that he could do for a fee, but recommended against it unless we saw the problem persist. Another aspect that I love about Shrum's is their integrity. Kelly and his son stood up to an owned their work. They recognized my concerns and were able to address them. They even explained why it was important for me not to sign up for an annual plan because it's a common sales tactic that larger companies (Terminix) use to make money. I highly recommend Shrum's Pest Control. They returned all my phone calls, they stood by their work, and they were the most reasonable in pricing that I could find (among the 3 companies that I called) in the Portland area. Then they call and say that won't work we need your debit card. So we trusted the process. Stupid on our part evidently. We had to go to the bank and cancel the debit card so they cannot take any more money. We will be filing a complaint with the BBB. Just be very careful with this company.
