I retained Valley Insulation to fix the issues, because I sensed honesty and experience from Cassidy. Any time you hire these contractors, you take a risk. Valley's crew spent eight hours repairing my crawlspace. Afterward, and before paying, I had the crawlspace re-inspected. The inspector, Bruce T of Leupitz, known for his thoroughness, was impressed, commenting that all issues had been addressed by Valley's crew: "They did a really good job."

I received seven different bids for this roofing job, ranging from $12,000-$24,000, with time estimates as short as "a couple of days". Terry Slate was very thorough and honest in his evaluation, and gave an honest bid that was in the middle of the price range, for a GAF Timberline HD system roof with a 50y warranty. I chose Slate based on the thoroughness of the bid, his willingness to discuss and explain all processes, his honesty about the level of work required, and his compliance with masking and social distancing. (This was a big deal to me, and I wonder how many estimators understand how seriously the rest of us have been taking this pandemic.) The job took his crew of 5+ eight full working days to complete. The result is stunning. The quality of work is visible and obvious. They found multiple defects in the original roof install from 1992, including plumbing drains that had never been fully extended through the soffits, leading to separation in some of the original decking. The original roof also was inadequately vented. These problems were all corrected to a high degree of quality. Terry also installed roof anchor points at the peaks to allow future maintenance crews to rope up for safety. The crew was very cognizant of our desire to minimize impact on our flowerbeds and vegetation. Cleanup of the old roof was perfectly done, including a perimeter sweep for metal staples. The invoice was for the original bid amount, plus the cost of the replacement plywood; no surprises. I can recommend Slate & Slate Roofing without reservation.

Meanwhile, the owner assessed the problem, checked all the other down spouts around the house, and talked my son through taking the drain pipe down, a neat trick to assess bolt sizes, and how to counter the problem for the future. All the while offering calming comments and assorted helpful hints. I am very disappointed with the installation and the subsequent customer service I received…read more The new faucet that was installed became extremely loose shortly after installation, began leaking, and did not function properly. I have a video documenting these issues. Since the faucet was clearly not performing as it should, I purchased a replacement faucet and contacted the company to ask whether it could be installed as a replacement. I was informed that I would be charged an additional $325 for the installation. I found this charge unreasonable, particularly because I had paid $472 for the original installation just one day earlier and the faucet installed by the company was not functioning properly. I ultimately hired another plumber, who charged $150 and completed the replacement in approximately 20 minutes. During that process, it was discovered that the original faucet had been installed with plastic disks that restricted the water flow. Additionally, in attempting to tighten the faucet to prevent it from becoming loose again, the original plumber cracked the underside of the fixture. Unfortunately, the damage resulted in the faucet being broken, and I was therefore unable to return it. Given the cost of the original installation, the problems that developed immediately afterward, the additional charge requested to correct the issue, and the damage to the fixture, I am very dissatisfied with the quality of the workmanship and the handling of the situation. I expected a significantly higher standard of service and workmanship for the amount I paid.

He diagnosed the problem after a leak check, checked their history on the heat pump, called the office for more info, and I was told I needed refrigerant and a new compressor. The company called the manufacturer and because it wasn't that old the compressor was provided to me at no cost, and also a discount on the refrigerant. The new part arrived a few days later, Tim showed up timely and obviously knew what he was doing. He installed things, double checked my thermostat, answered my questions and provided a written description of his work. I was very happy with my experience with Mill Creek Heating and this employee!

However, the next morning the same problem occurred, and the house was again without heat. When I explained that the system was still not working and the person responsible for paying the bills was understandably upset, the woman who answered responded by saying, " That doesn't matter to me." I found this response dismissive and completely inappropriate, particularly given the amount of money we have spent with your company and the urgency of the heating issue. As a result of both the unresoved issues and this interaction, we will not be using Mill Creek again, nor recommending your services to others.
