A technician from Northwest Home Appliance came to my 98 year old mother's condo to diagnose and fix her oven. Instead of fixing it, he said that it would coast $500, plus labor, for a $20 part and that she should just turn the oven up 30 degrees. I consider this elder abuse. They were up front on the phone that if I didn't answer the phone during the window when they would arrive, they would move on to the next customer. (I was warned ahead of time this was the procedure) Once I got over that, I was thoroughly impressed. Phillip set expectations of what it would take to diagnose and give his best guess of the outcome. Fortunately, our icemaker didn't need a full replacement as he suspected; instead he was able to repair/fix our problem and only needed to replace the ice cube tray. But most importantly, he found the root problem (the freezer was set to overfill the cube trays, causing the cubes to freeze together and gum up the works). He was quick and efficient, and now our ice maker is working like it never has before. I also appreciated Phillip running me through what the problems were, how the settings could have been set they way they were, and also answered some questions about a separate issue. Yuri came to my house late, my family member was home and showed him the dishwasher. He didn't even test the dishwasher until my family member suggested he try to turn it on. I found out from family member several days later that the dishwasher actually worked for Yuri, but he called me later and quoted me $400 in repairs over the phone and didn't mention the dishwasher actually worked for him. Then, he evaded my questions about his sketchy sounding math since the parts costs weren't adding up. I asked if the $150 visit fee would be deducted and he defensively asserted that the total charge was actually more and the $400 already accounted for the visit fee. I'm quite sure he just adds the visit fee to the final cost (not what we agreed to). A technician came to my home, I described the problem, and based on the make/model of the appliance the technician informed me the appliance could not be repaired and had to be replaced. The technician did not interact with the unit at all, but proceeded to charge me a $140 service fee anyway. I shared all of the same information when I scheduled the appointment. A "we can't repair that" response at scheduling time would have been far more ethical. I've had other companies come to my home to to service equipment only to be informed by the technician they are unable to do so. In those cases they waived the service charge. read more

This company went above and beyond my expectations. I would recommend them 100% to anyone. I am a real estate broker and always try hard to read the manual and fix things. I have an 8 year old Liehberr Refrigerator that I could not make happy. It would start beeping at 3am each night. I changed the water filter, cleaned the air filter, reset...nothing. Ice maker stopped and freezer couldn't keep a control on the temp. I live in Seattle & Liehberr sent me 3 repair companies to contact. The first closed at 4pm and emailed back that they didn't service Seattle. I called Northwest Home Appliance and the owner answered at 6pm. He put me on the schedule for first thing the next day. This is a family owned and operated company. Phillip came out the next morning, took a look and completely explained what was happening and how he would fix it and went to work. He took the back panel off the freezer & all the controls were completely iced over as the sensor was not working. He de-iced it, repaired it, showed us how to actually reset the machine(so complicated, we took notes). He told us to call with any questions or concerns. I meet a lot of contractors and I can tell you that Phillip was the most professional, kind and helpful person we have come into contact with. The next morning he called me to make sure everything was working properly after his visit! No one does this!! This is absolute AMAZING customer service. I have no idea why this company has only 2 stars on this site. I have only the utmost respect for this company from my experience. I would give them 10 stars if they were available. Hard to give a positive review, but suspect the technician was just giving the common diagnosis without a couple simple tests. LG certified. LG washer wouldn't turn on. Typical diagnosis is new Main PCB Panel. $200 to diagnose. So we did that. Panel install another $500! Why do this when you can buy a new washer for less? We liked this machine and didn't want hassle of new machine. Ha! Installed the $500 part. Nope. Need the Display Assembly PCB. Another $287! No way. Decided to do some sleuthing on my own. Apparently the contact button on the Panel Assembly loses conductivity over time. Solution? A piece of foil taped to the back of the contact button. So I fixed it myself. Aggravating. Did the tech do anything wrong? Likely followed the book, but a little more effort on his part for the first $200 visit would have solved the problem. I am baffled by some of the negative reviews here. Yuri was exceptional. Sure, Yuri is direct in his communication, but what's wrong with that? He got to the point and didn't waste my time. He fixed an extremely expensive appliance for me. He was responsive, on time, and transparent about his pricing. After diagnosing the problem on site, he said I didn't need a new part and that he could fix it - which he did in under an hour at a very reasonable rate. Our freezer was making a clicking noise when the door was closed and it would stop after we opened the freezer door. I called Philip on a holiday weekend and he was was kind enough to answer and help trouble-shoot the problem with me via FaceTime. Came to find out it was the ice maker and the gears had sheared, not allowing the ice maker to rotate and dispense ice. Philip fit me into his schedule a couple of days later and fixed the problem within 20 minutes. Every interaction with Philip has been a pleasure. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional in his craft! He keeps his work area clean, organized and efficient. This is my second experience using Northwest Home Appliance. Our new GE Café range was installed, with a broken part it turned out. GE Warranty folks had me call Northwest Home Appliance. As others mentioned, you don't get a interested inquisitive person answering the phone - I also felt like I was interrupting that person's day. They couldn't wait to get off the phone; as a result, I didn't have a chance to tell them the problem. Yuri called to make an appointment the next day. On the phone, he also didn't ask about the problem. When he and his assistant arrived (perfectly on time!), they immediately asked about shoes in the house. When he took a look at the problem, he was pretty upset that I didn't inform them of the problem (he would need to order the switch and come back). Yuri immediately backed off when I reminded him no one asked what the problem was -- and then good magic started to happen. Yuri had a few switches with him that were similar, and tried desperately to get one, and then another, to work - pinch hitting the whole affair the best he could. I was watching him, and it was really hard to work with the ultra short wires GE had provided for what should have been a GE Cafe switch. I have a minor engineering background, and he impressed me with his effort. Both his assistant and myself held flashlights so he could do his best. Neither off-the-shelf switch he tried worked - he let me know I would year back from him in 13 days once he received the part. He called me back 9 days later, had the part and came to install the next day (once again on time!). Upon arrival he asked again about shoes in the house, got right to work, made the fix quickly and we were good. Before they put the new Range back into place, I asked him if the unit could fit better if our contractor adjusted gas line link. He assessed it, gave me a description - and then on the spot drew for me a diagram for our contractor to follow so that the Range could fit better in the space we had. I was pleased in the end. In my opinion, if they had better, more interested people answering the phone, things could go much better for them. I've worked phones much in my life, and for myself for the last 25 years (my customers consistently comment on how 'easy I am to work with'). I know how important that first communication with customers is. My Haier fridge died so I contacted the company. They made the arrangements for Northwest Home Appliance to send a tech out to look at the unit. Yuri arrived the next day. He didn't bother to wear a mask, but since I live alone and am fully vaccinated I let that slide. I left him to his work as I had to return to a conference call. While left to his own devices he used the bathroom without asking permission, put a sticker on my stove, and almost left without giving me any updates - it was only when I heard him leaving through the front door that I stepped out and he explained he needed a replacement part. A part that was on back order for over a month. The next day I called Haier again and explained the situation. After several days they confirmed that the part in question was in fact out of stock and wasn't going to be available for weeks. I was then surprised when Yuri left me a voicemail a few days later saying he had the part. How he got his hands on one when the manufacturer couldn't is beyond me. I didn't return his call as I was now deep in Haier customer service hell. This was a mistake on my part as later that afternoon someone was ringing my doorbell and not stopping. Since this was making my dog go bonkers (and I was in the middle of a call) I answered the door and found Yuri standing there insisting I let him in to fix my fridge (still no mask). I explained that 1, I was in the middle of a call and I since I had no idea he was going to pop by that it was an incredible inconvenience for me and 2, I was working with the manufacturer's customer service department to get my situation resolved. I asked if I could call and schedule an appointment at which point he literally rolled his eyes, huffed, and explained he was just trying to do his job. In short, not only will they send techs out to your home unannounced, if you do happen to let them in you'll have to watch them like a hawk in order to make sure they're not making themselves at home. read more

My LG washer was having some issues, and LG customer service referred me to Northwest Home Appliance, as they are the "authorized service center" in this area. I called Northwest Home Appliance a few times to get through, and the first person who picked up told me they can not service a washer if a dryer is stacked on top (which is common in smaller homes). She told me to call LG again and ask for LG technicians - I did, and LG told me they don't directly service this area, and Northwest Home Appliance should be able to help. I'm baffled that being the recommended/authorized repairer in the area, they outright refused to service the appliance. I filed an official complaint to LG. read more

A TOTAL SCAM! I called NW Home Appliance because they were the only authorized service dealer for our dishwasher in the area. I was told it would cost $140 to diagnose the problem. The technician, Yuri, kept randomly pushing buttons to try to get the dishwasher to run, even though I told him what the error code was. He finally got it to start only to get the same error code. He didn't know what the error code meant so I had to show him my user manual with the description. He then told me he would have to pull the dishwasher out, which costs another $110, so now we are up to $250 total for about an hour of "work". Next, Yuri says he thinks it's the control board but to be certain, he needs to take the front panel off which costs and additional $90! 10 minutes later he confirms that it is the control board. $340 + tax total charge after I was initially told it would be $140. Yuri totally scammed me for an additional $200! At each additional step/charge, he indicated it could be a smaller problem which he could fix immediately. I was trusting enough to believe him. Wish I could leave them a zero star review! Their technicians are reliably bad and inconsiderate about leaving their mess AND TOOLS in our home. Communication with the company is ALSO terrible. Are the business hours accurate because I can never get a hold on them. They never have their masks on correctly and sometimes don't have shoe covers. They say they're not a cleaning service, but I would also say they are NOT A REPAIR SERVICE!!!!!! Only call if you want your mildewy, stinky water laying around your home after you call them, and expect them to DAMAGE your appliances further!!! Sick of cleaning up after these guys! We also where stuck with Yuri by a recommendation from Sears Warranty service. He was Rude, dirty and tried to overcharge us on a repair of a Samsung washer. When I called the Northwest to complain about his behavior at our house ( my wife was the one dealing with him ) they said no one named Yuri worked there and if we weren't happy then they would just not come back to finish the job and hung up. Not happy. Yuri came to fix my Elexolux washer. I decided on this company vs another since they said I could use a cc and they would come the next day. She said the minimum charge was $110. When he came, and he was on-time, he was there less than 10 minutes when he found a little metal think stuck in the hole of the washer. After pulling it out he said it was fixed. Nothing had to be taken apart. He said it would be $165 plus tax and that was the minimum. I said I had gotten a different quote from the office, and he said that was to fix it. I can not recommend this business. I had a technician come out last November to repair my Electrolux dryer. (Sorry, I do not know his name.) He was exceptionally rude - extremely upset that I did not have a good enough vacuum cleaner for him to use to finish the job - no wonder my laundry room is so dirty, etc. I am an easy going person and he was really over the top rude. I happily paid the $419. just to get him out of the house. I didn't really take note that there was no itemization on the invoice - it is Heater Element and the total charge. Here I am 8 months later. Same error message. I dug out the receipt and called them. Amazingly the person on the phone was quite rude (told me I couldn't possibly have a 206 area code as I lived in Woodinville. VOIP, thank you.) and when I requested a different technician from last time, I was told "everyone who works here is nice" at that point he said he would call me back tomorrow. I just received a call from the same person (?) I spoke to last night. He asked if I would like to schedule a service call. It was explained that I would still have to pay labor costs to install the new element. Of course I was finally able to find out the element was $169. and I would have to pay the installation AGAIN of $250. The man on the phone told me, "Go ahead and call someone else, we don't care." The repair guy called as promised and showed up on time. He had me unload the washer and clear the area then got right to work on my noisy LG. In just a moment he figured out the problem. He then pulled out the machine, removed the back and confirmed the problem was that a big block of styrofoam was jammed up under the machine. He tilted the machine and I pulled out the well-rubbed block. Once reassembled and hooked back up to the wall, he ran a test which proved he had it fixed. My 7730 is now very quiet. Summary: Yuri was dispatched to fix a gas leak with our Blue Star stove. Turned out there was no gas leak. However, he did fix the horrible rattling convection oven fan. Good: Prompt. Efficient. Lots of parts in the truck. Fixed a different problem (bad fan). Comments: I was given a 4-hour window. He showed up about 2 hours into it. More than twice the $-rate of the last company we had out here to fix this range. You get what you pay for. Last company I had out here came back THREE times before the problem was fixed causing me to lose 16 hours of work. Given that, Northwest Home Appliance cost me less overall if you consider my lost wages/time. Yuri is no Mr. Congeniality. He has no time for small talk. He is on a mission to get the problem fixed so he can get out the door to the next customer. He can be rather "concise" as he called it. I did not care about that in the end. I learned a thing or two about the stove. He showed me why my analysis of the gas leak was wrong. I am grateful for that. I am thrilled that he had the part and took the time to fix the fan while he was onsite. No need to pay for him to come out again. As for cost, I was told up front by office manager (his wife?) what the fees would be. I was well aware of the costs going into this repair. As Yuri worked on the stove, he let me know that the meter was running (no different than a taxi) and kept me aware that the cost was rising. Bottom line: I will not hesitate to call Northwest Home Appliance for repair of a valuable appliance. I think the review by John I. is spot on (10/20/2014). read more

Unfortunately I did not read these reviews prior to scheduling a service. Yuri was professional enough- not super out going but got the job done. I knew it was $110 to have him show up to diagnose the problem, which I was 99% sure I already knew and just didn't have the know how to actually preform the repair. Yuri showed up and confirmed what I thought and said he has the part in his van to fix it. Out of convenience I said ok. Here is what convenience cost me. $250. He was getting $110 either way and a quick google search showed the part was $45 online. The entire repair took 15 minutes from the time he walked in my door. So one of two things are happening, they charge $1000/hr for labor or they have a 550% mark-up on parts. To top it off they charged me an extra 3.5% for using a credit card. Lesson learned, hopefully I can help others from making the same mistake.... for others that have had the same experience, you can escalate your complaint to LG or which ever manufacturer suggested him, enough complaints and they will remove him from their vendor list. read more

Tech was sent out on a warranty repair for my refrigerator. He said the fridge was installed wrong, slapped some silicone under the door gasket and left. Four days later, the gasket came off the freezer door again so I made a new appointment. The day before he was due at my house, he called me twice. I missed the calls because I was in an area with no service. He could be re using this part over and over but doesn't so he can mark up his part and sell it to every customer. It's a $10 part! He tried to charge me $800 to replace the compressor. He then proceeded to tell me it's a 1 hour job. Really??? $800 per hour. Lastly LG tells me the compressor is under warranty but yuri won't honor that. He tried to charge me $350 for the part when I found it online for $250 at the first place I looked. I'm sure as the LG backed repair man he probably gets it for under $200. Who knows? I agree with Babbs. Yuri and Natalia need a lesson on customer service. Neither are nice. Yuri did the same thing to us. We asked him to come look at our trash compactor which stopped working. He barked instructions and insulted my husband's installation handywork. Then they charged us $154 to tell us the machine needed $200-$400 more in work. Unbelievable. I asked if the service call charge would be applied to the work they said "no"! Then Yuri did not put the compactor back properly. I understand the need to charge for an estimate, and their time, and we were willing to pay something, but $154 to just tell us the machine was broken (which we already knew), and be abrupt and rude through the process was insulting. I called Natalia back to express my dissatisfaction and say, "You never told us it would be $154 to look at it". She said, "You never asked." She argued with me for 10 minutes on the phone. I don't agree with the other bad reviews here. Maybe things were worse for them, but Yuri wasn't at all rude with me. He's very succinct and to the point in his communication, and he's not the type of person to be super friendly and smiley, but he wasn't rude. Don't expect someone flowery and sunny and you'll probably do fine. We had a broken drain pump that was sometimes working and sometimes not, mostly not. I called a *bunch* of other places before I called Northwest Home Appliance, specifically because of all the bad reviews here on Yelp. However, apparently almost no one services Samsung washers. So I gave up and went w/ NHA. Yuri came over, swapped it out for a new one, and we're back in business. He was very up front and detailed on the phone about what the charges would be for just looking at it, without me asking. He scheduled a four-hour window for when he might arrive, and told me he'd call 30 minutes beforehand to make sure I'd be home. As advertised, he called 30 minutes ahead of time right in the middle of the scheduled window, and I was able to go home and get things prepped before he showed up. When he arrived, he diagnosed the problem, went to his vehicle to grab a new pump, came back and installed it, and we were back in business. I like friendly people as much as anyone, but he wasn't un-friendly, and I appreciated that his focus was on getting the job done. I am in no way surprised to find this business has a low Yelp rating. I called-in to request invoices from previous services for our company records and felt like I was totally burdening the woman on the line. This was the second time I had called in and both times she questioned why I needed the invoices and made little effort beyond asking the date of service to search for them. This makes me think they are keeping improper records as a small business. When I asked if she could look it up in any other way, business name, address, etc. she berated me. I gave her service dates and charges and because she misunderstood the number, acted as I was intentionally lying to her and again, berated me for quoting multiple charges. At one point she claimed we didn't pay them... and I'm quoting charges from our bank statement. I would never, ever willingly do business with this company. Retrieving records is a simple task. It's unfortunate there are appliance brands sub-contracting them as a repair company because those brands are likely losing money on poor service. LG Appliances...we learned our lesson with our LG refrigerator that if you have a problem, you must first contact LG support (our refrigerator was 14 mos old when the compressor went out). So when it came to our less than 3 y/o LG washer not spinning, I promptly contacted LG support and the only service shop they recommend is Northwest Home Appliance. I was greeted with the curmudgeon Yuri that's been referenced so I'll spare you my unfavorable reviews there, but after less than 10 minutes looking at the washer, he ultimately diagnosed our washer as needing a new control board. I pressed him a little bit as to why based on the symptoms I saw, and that was not met well.... Repair cost with new part came in around $450. I ended up finding a new control board for around $100 and installed it myself....and the washer problem persisted. Needless to say, I'm VERY happy I didn't take his word and pay the $450 (fortunately I returned the part) because I don't even want to know how that conversation would have gone and what we then would have ended up paying....and in the end, we purchased a new washer. I would never ever recommend this place. Whether it's Yuri or someone else, I always got the sense that I was bothering them. While he was here, we asked him to look at our washer, which was making strange noises. Although he was running late, he took the time to fix that, too.
