Then he left for a month, funeral or something, which is understandable. Then he texts me about a month later asking if I needed anything else done, which I said yeah, the tie rods would be great. He has me order the parts & then sets up a day to come over. Ok cool I'm thinking, I get everything planned out, parts are delivered, I let him know & he says he'll be by in 3 days after 6pm. An hour before he's supposed to be there he texts that his daughter is sick & he is starting to feel sick too & he will get a hold of me when he figures out his schedule. 3 days goes by with nothing, I text him finally to find out what's going on & that I'm probably going to have to find a real mechanic to do the work & he says he won't be able to work on my car because life overwhelmed him this past week/weekend. On July 3, 2023 I took the car to Tuffy in Cadillac Michigan to have the oil checked and they found the oil to be excessive by 1 1/2 quarts. Way too much and they drained it down to the correct level.

We took our vehicle to the nearest auto repair and they confirmed it was an issue with the alternator and at the current rate, we wouldn't make it back home without repairing it. Although helpful, they unfortunately could not service our vehicle due to being short staffed. Knowing this was an alternator issue we called several other auto repair businesses (including a Honda dealership) and no one had any availability until the following week; it was currently Wednesday. Losing hope and already thinking of alternative ways to get home we called Traverse City Public Service Garage (TCPSG) and they luckily had someone available to re-diagnose and potentially service our vehicle (it was about 1pm at this time). Upon arrival they were able to verify the issue, order the faulty part from one of their local suppliers, have it delivered, and installed it in about 4 hours or so. While there was an element of luck that came into play (available mechanic, supplier with the part, time of day, etc.), the service we received was both friendly and fair all things considered. The good folks at TCPSG got our vehicle back up and running and we ultimately got back home later that evening safely and in one piece. From me and my family, thank you Traverse City Public Service Garage for your hospitality and quality service.

The first person who looked at it thought the AC compressor needed to be replaced to be safe to drive but they had a second person look at it and he was able to offer a quick fix to get us up and going. We were ready to leave it and have it fixed when their AC person was available but they were honest and gave us a better option even though it cost them business. We cannot thank them enough for helping us in a pretty desperate situation.

I went to the only shop in town, worried it might be a long wait or I might get raked over the coals. Not so!! I was greeted in the parking lot as I got out of my car by Lyle. He saw my pathetic spare on my Acadia and joked, "Let me guess what the problem is!" He quickly took my tire away to find the culprit--a piece of metal in the tread. The tire was patched, re inflated, and placed back on the car in no time. They were kind enough to put my spare back underneath the vehicle as well. All for $15! All of the employees were so friendly. I was right back to vacationing in no time. These guys do all kinds of service. I saw another vehicle getting a brake job and overheard a telephone call about engine repair. Plus they have reasonable prices on oil changes.
