We are vacationing and realized that it would best to get an oil change before heading back. We stopped in randomly today 11/11/24, and were greeted by 2 gentlemen that had us pull right in. They discussed the options that we had and incredibly, we were able to get a 50% discount for Veterans Day! These 2 young men were professional, courteous, and very thorough. They went through their checklist out loud, confirming with the other that everything was done to standard. Before doing anything that could have potentially cost additional, they reviewed options and confirmed our decision. We had a fantastic experience and were very impressed by these two attendants. I also posted a review on Yelp. I drive quite a few miles to this oil change facility, because the staff is professional and efficient! They make recommendations for things I might need at the time or in the future, and also replace bulbs in headlights and taillights if needed and on request. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE place to take any vehicle you value. I stopped in on April 4th in the afternoon. Asked the manager if it was too late to get my vehicle serviced because it was nearly 5:30, she replied no. So I pulled in the lane told them I would like a Mobile 1 5w30 oil change please. Which ended up being their "platinum package" which doesn't mean much except come to find out you have the honor of paying an ADDITIONAL CHARGE for the "platinum package" Anyways they started the service of my vehicle, as they entered me in their computer they asked me a little about my car, what pressure I like my tires at, asked if I would like the fancy windshield washer solvent or the plain blue and the manager mentioned she enrolled me in their "points program" I asked what the points program does for me and she said every full synthetic oil change earns me 10 points after 20 points I will recieve $20 off. I mentioned if the points expire it wont be worth it for me because i was in my classic Lincoln and I dont even put 3,000 miles on per year. The manager went on to explain to me that even if I dont reach the 3,000 mile interval they were putting on my windshield sticker that I should get it changed at least every 6 months because the oil breaks down and needs changing.....The is a real shame to hear a company train its employees to purposely decieve its clients. Had I not worked in a dealership in the service department I may have fallen for that. I said excuse me but that is simply not true. FULL SYNTHETIC oil especially does not "breakdown" as she said in less than 3,000miles. Most every company will say it is safe to run full synthetic oil 5-7,000 miles without concern for degradation. She insisted that my car will need new oil in 6 months even if I do not reach 3,000 miles. Anyways the service went on and I noticed they never actually checked my tires, or my air filter, or performed any sort of check except for topping off my coolant which was fine at the low mark since the vehicle was still cold, and checking my lights. So much for the "premium service" ALSO its worth mentioning since I had never been here before that I paid $142.64 for this PREMIUM SERVICE. This shop is $30 more expensive then even the dealership to get your vehicle serviced at do not go here. The service went on and the very nice young man in the pit asked me if my car was from down south because the undercarriage was "so clean you could eat of it" I replied yes it was from Arizona and it lives in the garage mostly under a cover. After the service was done they asked me to start my car and instantly bring the vehicle up to between 2,000 an 3,000RPMS while they checked for leaks. Honestly I have never heard of this but since making my complaint it turns out they have had some problems with double gasketing oil filters in the past. After they verified my vehicle was not in fact leaking the manager slammed my hood. I was told thats how they are taught to close hoods because of the "liability" but there is no need to help a hood down that would easily fall down on its own. After I paid for my service they could not get their printer to work so we waited another 5-10 minutes while they got their system working. Then after I pulled out to drive home I noticed an oily smell. So I pulled over into their side parking lot to look under my car and found that my spotless old Lincoln that the pit crew said was so clean you could eat off it it was dripping oil from everywhere like an old diesel truck. Of course by this time the shop was closed and truthfully I was so distraught they would not have been happy if I was able to pull back in. I filed a complaint with the home office on their website and a regional manager Named Rick reached out to me. Rick said the home office got my email and asked him to reach out. He then went on to justify the crews action on treating a classic car very near and dear to me like a piece of junk. He made excuses saying thats how the crew are trained to shut hoods and that they are " not allowed to use any sort of cleaners on the vehicles he said that some performances plus locations use water to clean off the car. but they were not allowed to use any solvents to clean my car. I mentioned how I have never heard of this at any other place and that the manager went out of her way to deceive/lie to me about the oil life. His response was pretty terrible saying well the manufacturers say one thing the auto makers say another who knows really what to believe. He then asked me what do you want, what would make you happy. I replied and said nothing would make me happy but maybe an acknowledgment that you will train your employees better about the products they are selling and maybe have them take a course on ethics because they're going out of their way to deceive clients and that is not right. I have waited for a further response from him since this day and have received no response from him or Performance Plus. read more

I stopped here instead of my normal mechanic (Redmond) due to convenience. I have a 2020 Honda Civic, manual. It was my first oil change and I know, after talking to several car people, that I was ripped off. The gal checking me in had to ask what model my car was, didn't know the difference between a hatchback and sedan. I was charged $17.50/ quart for full synthetic oil, which they said was the manufacturer recommendation. (Honda does recommend that but a synthetic blend is also fine.) It costs about $7 at auto stores. They then awarded me a sticker telling me they recommend a change every 3,000 miles. Honda recommends every 7500 miles. Never again. Ever. read more

Had my oil changed here a couple times due to it being a convenient location/near my work. I will never go back! I live downtown, my parking spot buts up to the ally. Unfortunately a lot of people leave trash cans etc. In the ally. I don't like it but always pick it up when I see it. I picked up a can as I was in a hurry and quickly stuck it in the side of my door. Well I had the police called on me for doing so! The employees changing my oil saw the can when I opened my door. I wasn't sure what was happening until I was suddenly dealing with an officer. . I was not acting strange or doing anything questionable. I am just blown away that they decided to call the police on me for seeing a can in my car. Wasted a lot of my time on a day time was already limited. Definitely lost a loyal customer for something that could have easily been avoided if they had just asked. I arrived there today around 130.. I had asked for a full service oil change etc. I also said that I had a skid plate and will this be an issue.. No we got it.. After over 20 mins of listening m bolts being Stripped without a give , I started is there a issue they really stripping my bolts then no reply then I stated it again and the girl got down in the pit and called for the other girl.. The bay came up from the pit and went to work on the next customer. Then I could here drills and more of the stripping finally she call plate is off.. so they filled my fluids , then there was an issue of putting it back on . didn't really feel my suv move or like anything was being bolted back on.. no sound of sockets, air compressors nothing. Then she said clear then I was giving the bill, paid 168.05 .. And back to my drive to Charlevoix/Boyne City. During this time I could here was sound like flapping in the air or something hitting underneath.. We made it back and while I happen to see something white Hanging from my what should the area of my secure skid plate etc.. However what I find as I am completely under it as I live on a hill so easy access.. Is my skid plate hanging there without any bolts in all areas even under my from which now is cracked but it being held my white zip ties!! No bolts!! This is unexpectedly!! I have been trying to call for the past 4 hrs with the only phone number provided which only routes to a fax machine!! My invoice -# 130507!! This could had or still can cause damage to my Truck which it's already damaged from flapping in the wind under a truck for an hour.. Plus harm if it would fly off and hit or cause injury.. I accept repair and a call right away but I will also be calling again once your office opens read more

The service here is good, they are always so polite to me. They also give me suggestions on what to do with my car after they are finished with my car. Sure extra parts like air filters and only replacing one windshield whipper blade is little over priced, but the overall service is good. read more

invoice 116094 on Munson Ave. Traverse City, MI 5/28/2019 When I got out of my car and told the service person my intentions, he told me that I needed to get back into my car, that he could not have me wandering around. (A waiting room was where I was headed, but none existed, nor did any sign or other notice to stay in my vehicle.) Service person overly aggressive to the point of being both rude and combative. Had all the answers to unasked questions: I did not come into this shop to be lectured. Told I was out of warranty if I did not buy his more expensive oil. Argued that the car warranty word "suggested" actually means "required," and I would be "laughed at" by the dealership if a problem happened by my using the Shell premium oil SH 5W30 55 L29177. He insisted I had signed a lease agreement that required me to use the suggested synthetic oil, which is not true. Said the dealer could retro charge me for not using his choice, also not true. Told me he was sending my information to carfax to provide a record I was undersevicing my car. Asked me If I felt OK with selling his girlfriend my car at a later date when I had not properly maintained it. Insisted the car would require more oil at 100,000 miles because of my choice. Claimed he previously worked at a dealership and new all the legal warranty requirements. I go into a oil change shop for service, not to be badgered by an over zealous salesperson. I will never stop at a Performance Plus service store now that I know that pressured salesmanship awaits me. Respect for the customer is a requirement for me, and I left regretting I spent my money at this place of business. read more

Happened to be in Traverse when it was time for an oil change for our F-150. The reviews on Google were great, so I went in. The guys were super polite and did a great job communicating with me and each other. As an additional bonus, their price for a truck was about $15 cheaper than my usual place. read more
