My husband and I bought our newest addition from Northtown Auto and it was the best experience I have had with a car lot. Our sales man Jalil was so helpful and knowledgeable and gave us great options and recommendations based on our needs and wants. The finance managers Josh and Johnny were also wonderful in getting us the best deal and making everything happen. We love our car and would recommend Northtown Auto any day!!

When scanned, the car showed three full pages of error codes, including codes related to the transmission, battery, mass air flow sensor, and tires. Before buying, I specifically asked about the transmission three separate times, and the owner told me directly each time that the transmission was "great." He also stated that he had just changed the oil and transmission fluid prior to the sale. After the warning light came on, I contacted the owner. He told me to bring the car in and then blamed all of the issues on the snow tires, which does not explain transmission or engine-related fault codes. I then had the vehicle inspected by my own mechanic. The transmission fluid was dark black, thick, and smelled burnt--I was even given a sample. This is clear evidence of serious transmission problems and contradicts the claim that the fluid had recently been changed. When I informed the owner of these findings, he refused to refund my money or take responsibility. This has been an extremely costly and stressful experience. I strongly advise anyone considering buying from FDM Motors to get an independent inspection before purchasing, or consider another dealership.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP! IF I COULD RATE THEM…read moreNEGATIVE I WOULD ! I had an absolutely horrible experience with this company. I bought a car from them, and within one day, it completely stopped working. They immediately blamed the alternator -- without even inspecting the car -- and claimed to have fixed it. Remind you they swore the car had been safety inspected and was in great condition... When I went to pick it up, I didn't even make it five minutes down the road before it broke down again. I had to pay for towing out of pocket twice, and once more they said the alternator was the issue (which was supposedly just fixed!). They again told me the car was now "safe and reliable." That couldn't have been further from the truth. Less than three weeks later, the car completely died again, and now they're refusing to cover any mechanic fees. On top of that, they won't answer phone calls or respond to texts -- totally unprofessional. I'm now being forced to take legal action against this dealership just to get some accountability. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. This isn't even 1/2 of what has been wrong. Save yourself the stress, money, and legal trouble -- do NOT buy a car from this place.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS AUTO DEALER. I purchased a vehicle from them in August 2024. I was…read moretold I would have my title and plates in about two months. When those two months came and passed I called asking for an update. after confirming my information I was informed that the person who handled their titles was out of the office. This was the beginning of over a year of calling them and receiving the same run around. He was always out of office. I even asked what hours he would be in and called at the appropriate time only to be told the same spiel. I live an hour and a half away and after six months of getting the run around I went in and all they did was offer to give me fresh temporaries. This was only a bandaid for a wound that needed stitches. Soon after I was able to get in touch with their title person who, I found out, was one of the owners. He gave me more excuses about how there was a hold up with the DOL. I waited patiently for another six months before finally being beyond fed up and filed a complaint with the Washington DOL. I was then pointed towards filing a claim against their dealership bond. It was only after I filed a claim against their dealership bond that they got me my title and plates, two days after they had been contact by the bond. What this tells me is that they had the ability to get me my title and plates before this due to the speed at which they were able to acquire them when they were threatened with financial liability by the bond agency. In the end, I received my title and plates in Feburary of 2026. This was beyond unacceptable. I have never written a bad review but have been so incensed by the entire ordeal that I felt it was my duty to inform others before they make the same mistake I did by doing business with this auto dealership. Believe it or not, this is the spark notes of the entire process I was forced to go through to use the vehicle I had purchased.

Cannot warn you to stay away enough…read more I am now $20k into a $10k car I bought there. Sold me a Subie that they had "done all the work" that needed to be done at 200k miles. Headers, gaskets, etc. Had to take the car back in within a week because it wouldn't shift into gear from park properly. It wouldn't accelerate from a stop appropriately and would just shut itself off while idling at a stop light or sign. They supposedly got it in and said it was a sensor issue and "fixed it". (Remember that for later) Then the car dropped all its oil and seized up within months of it being purchased. They insisted it was my fault. So the "insurance plan" they sold me for another $800 wasn't going to be any good either. (Even if the oil wasn't checked in 3 months' time.... which it WAS... it shouldn't have vanished within a few months of having the engine overhauled). Of course, they offered to replace the engine, if I paid them for it. So, it sat on their lot while I found a REPUTABLE mechanic to look at it. Once I had found the best garage in town for Subarus, they wouldn't even put the car on their trailer to take it to the shop, I had to pay for the tow off their lot. And that sensor issue they "fixed"? The mechanic said all the warning lights I took it back to them to check was because someone did a quick fix by jamming/bypassing the sensor. Literally, the WORST car purchasing (or mechanic) experience I have ever had. Ric (salesperson) was rude and felt comfortable swearing around my wife and son. Should have been my first red flag. I just thought he was trying to be "buddy buddy". Nope, turns out "Skeezy salesperson" is a stereotype for a reason. Stephanie started scolding me on the phone when I called and was upset with the weeks of delay that involved all these issues. YOU MUST AVOID THIS CAR LOT AT ALL COSTS.

November 30, 2024, purchased a 2014 Forester with 150K miles on it that was supposedly "completely…read moregone through" by River City Auto Sales, who purport to be Subaru certified mechanics. Car smells like wet dog, but that is what it is. After I signed the contract and ran my debit card, Chris mentioned that the one key that came with it "needed to be reprogrammed." 1. Between Christmas and New Year, dead battery. I don't know the history of this car and batteries eventually need replacement, especially when the weather starts to gets cold, and the battery that was in the car when I bought it was just barely old enough that replacement was recommended, so to be safe I got a new battery ($175). Part of having a car, inconvenient that it happened within a month of buying it. Irritating on a "new to me" car, but not their fault. 2. End of January, I take the key that "needed to be reprogrammed" in to be reprogrammed. Turns out it had a bad chip. New keys are $350 each and depending on where you buy them, there could be an additional $100 programming fee. (Funny story: By this point, I had my snow tires on. They're mounted on their own wheels, which came off an '07 Forester and don't have the TPS sensor so the TPS light is on as long as I'm running my winter tires... and the new key can't be programmed with the TSP light on.) Irksome, but not their fault. (Running total: battery + key = $525) 3. Week after Valentine's Day, the new battery is dead. A couple of jump starts, a week's worth of rides to work, two shops and a $90 diagnostic later, the issue was determined to be a corroded terminal on the positive cable. Huge PITA, but a lot of other people looked at that same cable and didn't see anything amiss. It happens. (Running total: battery + key + dx = $615) 4. Mid-May. The key won't come out of the ignition. Have it looked at, it *could* be the key I bought from the hardware store isn't talking to one of the sensors in the ignition, shifter, or plate, so I get another new Subaru branded key. (Running total: battery + key + dx + key = $965) 5. Early June. It's not the key, so we schedule shop time. Turns out to be the sensor in a plate. $600. It's a 10+ year old car, this is a known issue, and I had the bad luck to have it happen to me. Running total of things not their fault is now $1295, but... 5. While it's in the shop, given the battery and shifter issue, we run the service history and guess what? The car that was "completely gone through" by a shop with a big' ol "Subaru-certified mechanic" sign in the window is overdue on all scheduled maintenance from 90K onward. Catching that up came in at just under $2700 and we're not done yet, because while all of this is playing out, I had occasion to turn on the AC for the first time and found out that it doesn't work because the compressor's bad. (River City Auto Sales took in this car when the weather permitted testing the AC; when I bought it in November, it was cold enough that testing the AC was a moot point.) A new AC compressor and changing the serpentine belt while we're there are going to be another $2100. I'm not mad about the nearly $1300 of things that aren't their fault, but the $4700 worth of things that should have been addressed when the car was "completely gone through" has me pretty pissed off.
