Enjoyed the servers recommendations of a Hawaiian burger, Chicken sandwich and a Big Wave. Service was great!

We did two baskets and tried both fry options - attic ranch fries and sidewinder fries. Both were delicious and the chislic was perfectly cooked to order and tender. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and a fast kitchen. They also offer a happy hour. I would highly recommend this bar and grill to anyone who hasn't tried it. Happy hour is Monday-Friday 3pm-6pm. $3.00 you call it drinks

Life simply kept getting busy, but eventually we made our way over to The Attic West on a Friday evening. Apparently, everyone else in Sioux Falls had the same idea. The place was absolutely packed and the wait was quite long. At one point, we honestly considered giving up and going elsewhere, but since this had been a gift and we'd heard many locals speak highly of the restaurant, we decided to stick it out. One thing we've definitely learned while living in the Midwest is that bar-and-grill style restaurants are deeply woven into the dining culture here. Sioux Falls has many places with this sort of atmosphere, and honestly, we've adapted fairly well to it even though it differs a lot from some of the larger-city dining scenes we were used to previously. Unfortunately, the food itself just didn't quite work for us. We ordered steak, jambalaya, and buffalo wings. The steak, despite being ordered medium rare, came out drier than we would have liked and lacked much distinctive flavor. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't memorable either. The jambalaya was probably the biggest disappointment of the evening. It was overwhelmingly salty to the point where it became difficult to really enjoy the dish underneath the seasoning. The buffalo wings were acceptable enough, but again, they also leaned dry. Service was understandably stretched because of how busy the restaurant was, though the staff themselves seemed to be working hard under the pressure. Overall, this simply wasn't quite our cup of tea in terms of either the food or the atmosphere. I can understand why it appeals to many locals looking for a lively Friday night gathering spot, but for us personally, it probably isn't somewhere we'd return to. A 2 out of 5 from us.

Chicken sandwiches are also available. I got a burger with cheese, onions, and special sauce, a big order of sea salt fries (choose your seasoning) and 2 craft beers for $24!! The bar has about 20 seats and there's several tables for table service. Not great for a big party, but perfect for a quick, but hot delicious lunch or dinner! The bartenders were attentive and kind and I will definitely be back! I'm sad I didn't get to try the root beer float with on tap root beer for less than $5! I'll just have to go back!

One Sunday afternoon my husband and I found ourselves wandering around DTSF -- which, for…read morenon-locals, is the commonly used shorthand for Downtown Sioux Falls -- looking for a good burger place. And somehow we stumbled right into JL Beers. Or perhaps more accurately, the scent of burgers guided us there like a pair of hungry travelers following a greasy North Star. Either way, what a fantastic little find this turned out to be. The burgers were juicy, flavorful, and properly satisfying in the way a good burger should be. Not overcomplicated. Not trying too hard. Just well-prepared comfort food done right. The fries were excellent too -- crisp, well-seasoned, and dangerously easy to keep eating long after I was already full. The service also impressed me quite a bit. Even on a busy Sunday afternoon, the staff remained attentive, friendly, and efficient without making us feel rushed. One unexpectedly fun part of the visit was trying non-alcoholic beer options for the first time. My husband and I are not really drinkers, so this was a little adventure for us. The sparkling hop water was surprisingly refreshing and delightful, while the Athletic non-alcoholic beer leaned a little more bitter than my personal preference. Still, I appreciated finally getting to try some of the newer NA options people have been talking about lately. And honestly, this place wound up becoming one of our gateway restaurants into exploring more of DTSF afterward. We have returned several times since, usually combining it with walks around downtown and trying other local spots nearby. Now, of course, every local already knows the true final boss battle of downtown Sioux Falls: Parking. At some point you simply accept that you are either going to circle the block repeatedly like a confused migrating bird or surrender gracefully and use one of the nearby parking garages. Which honestly is not the end of the world. The walk is good for us. At least until winter arrives and the sidewalks become an Olympic slipping event sponsored by snow, ice, and regret.

Laid back atmosphere helped my anxiety as well as it not being overly loud. They had some cool set ups of televisions, where they used a device to connect 4 tvs to make one big image. My husband and I both got pizzas, mine plain cheese while his had pepperoni. He also got some cheese breadsticks for a side. The bartender let us know it would be 20-25 minutes and that we could either wait in restaurant or wander back to our hotel room if we didn't want to stay put. Overall everything was delicious and we genuinely enjoyed our dinner that night. I would definitely recommend checking them out

Steak was super bland, 0 flavor, tough, and the cheapest rice you can get in the restaurant industry probably the cheapest steak too. Just awful.... I asked the waiter for something to replace at a cheaper price and he said he would get in contact with the manager. I understand kitchen closing at certain places that stay open super late... I've never heard of a kitchen closing before the restaurant closes. After the waiter got back, he claimed that the manager will take the meal off the bill, but will not be replacing my order with something else due to the kitchen closing. Which is absolutely insane for a restaurant as they provide provided something so poorly to a customer. You would hope they would make an effort to figure things right and provide good service, but I was completely wrong. Will never be going back here again. Meal wasn't even worth taking a picture...
