The most frustrating part was not my credit score itself, but the lack of proactive guidance. Before my mortgage application, I believed my credit score was much higher than it actually was. Once my credit was pulled, it became clear that there was a significant gap between my expectations and reality. However, I was never proactively informed about the situation, its impact on my mortgage options, or potential remedies that might have been available. I later learned about rapid rescore through my own research rather than from my lender. Given my credit profile, this was something I believe should at least have been discussed. Instead, I remained unaware of important information that could have affected my decisions during a very time-sensitive period. When I later reached out with questions, I did not feel supported or educated as a first-time borrower. Conversations often felt rushed and dismissive, and I was repeatedly told that I could simply refinance later. While refinancing may be an option in the future, it is not free, effortless, or a substitute for helping borrowers understand all available options before closing. As a first-time homebuyer, I expected more proactive communication, guidance, and attention to detail. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

North Dallas

TLDR: The Tuttle Group utterly astounded us with an effortless, friendly, speedy, and (believe it…read moreor not) FUN refinance as self-employed individuals when no one else wanted to help. We decided to refinance our home to make some improvements and clear out some high-interest debt. We assumed (erroneously) that our credit union, which had held the current mortgage for 15 years plus our bank accounts and car notes, and a flawless history of payments with them, would have no trouble refinancing us, even though we are now self-employed, and making 3x what we made when they initially approved us. ***WRONG!!!*** After literally MONTHS of asking for documents, changing rates, long delays waiting for info from underwriting, and unanswered questions, we finally abandoned them in search of unconventional financing routes. We looked specifically for brokers in the area who specialize in self-employed people, and found a few. Some seemed a bit "green," some sounded less than friendly or just weren't interested in a smaller refi. But Tatiana with the Tuttle Group was super friendly when she reached out, and helped us arrange a video consultation with Andy Tuttle, the wizard of the Tuttle Group. During the 30 minutes that Andy spoke with us, it was like a crash course in financial planning. Everything he said made so much sense, and we learned more about mortgage refinancing than MONTHS of online research and questions we had asked to our credit union. Andy was up-front and told us that our best option might, indeed, be to go with the offer our credit union had finally extended, and that he might not be able to beat it. Still, he took the time to explain how refinancing in this "terrible Fed-rate" era could be financially advantageous to us, and told us to check once more with our credit union to see their final terms and if they were still locked in. I was astounded that he would take that kind of time to talk to a customer he likely wouldn't get any money from. We decided to proceed with the Tuttle Group, even if they couldn't offer us a better rate, simply because it was a PLEASURE dealing with them, they treated us like family, and everything Andy said made such good sense. Throughout the 2-ish weeks that ensued, their awesome mortgage gal Annie checked in with us regularly to make sure all our questions were answered. They seemingly required FAR less documentation than anyone else. But their stated tactic was to present a perfect, iron-clad package to underwriting up-front, so that there would be an instant approval and there wouldn't be a need for further questions or documentation. (Imagine that???) In what seemed like the blink of an eye, we were approved and ushered through closing. We simply could not be more impressed with the Tuttle Group. We've helped numerous friends and family through the mortgage process, and it's always like being put through a medieval torture device. This is the first time getting approved and closing was a PLEASURE. We NEVER had to contact them for questions, because they were always checking in to make sure all ours were answered. They were super friendly, familiar, informal-yet-professional, and we always felt like they had our backs and had everything under control. We actually looked forward to their calls and emails...imagine that??? Even though were were looking for a silly, small refinance and shouldn't have been worth their time, we felt like we had called up a dear family member who gave us the "hook up" our situation clearly didn't warrant. Astounded. Impressed. Thrilled. Grateful. These are some of the things we feel after our experience with the Tuttle Group. And I have absolutely no doubt your experience will leave you feeling the same.

Doesn't get any better than Linda Mister and her dynamic team of working professionals. We came to Linda Mister-Owens on a referral from our trusted Realtor (see separate review). She said "Call Linda. In all the 2+ years I've known her, if she says she can do the loan, she delivers 100% of the time." That was all that we needed. We called her, gave her our scenario, and she told us she could do the loan. Our home contract had gone belly up when our previous lender had missed our closing date on December 9th. Linda and her incredibly experienced team worked diligently to get us in the home in record time. They even had roadblock after roadblock with the previous lender, including ethical issues that Linda coached us through. And she still managed to close on our house 10 days later. I still don't know how she did it, but she pulled out all the stops and made it happen, with the primary goal of getting our family in the house in time for Christmas. What should have been a straightforward process became a series of communication failures, errors, and unnecessary delays. Our first experience at the Hurst branch immediately caused us to lose confidence in the loan officer handling the situation. She told us she did not know how to navigate our circumstances, so we ultimately contacted EECU's digital branch, which was able to guide us through most of the process. Because the auto loan still required documents to be signed in person, we specifically scheduled an appointment at the North Richland Hills branch rather than returning to Hurst. The night before that appointment, the Hurst loan officer called asking whether we had intended to schedule with her. I then contacted the NRH branch to confirm our appointment was with them and explained why. No one returned my call. We arrived for the NRH appointment as scheduled. Despite having an appointment, paperwork was still being prepared after we arrived, and the process took nearly an hour. We were then told an issue prevented everything from being completed and that additional documents would need to be electronically signed later that day. Later that afternoon, we learned another form had either been missed or had not been completed correctly. We were told it had to be resolved that day or the loan closing costs could change. My mother and I completed the additional electronic signatures as requested. After that, we received no further communication and reasonably believed the loan process was complete. We were told we were simply waiting for the Texas registration sticker from the title department. After three weeks with no sticker and no update, I called EECU myself. I then learned that a form had been waiting for the NRH loan officer to take action on it for those three weeks. It appears the process only moved forward because I called to ask what was happening. Meanwhile, my elderly mother is driving a vehicle with an expired registration while we continue waiting for EECU to complete its part of the process. The issue here is not one isolated mistake. It is the repeated lack of follow-through: unanswered messages, incomplete or incorrectly handled paperwork, missed steps, weeks without proactive communication, and a three-week delay that was discovered only because I followed up myself. We received multiple apologies, including from management, but apologies do not correct an ongoing lack of basic follow-through. Based on our experience with this auto loan, I cannot recommend EECU. When handling something as important as a vehicle loan and title/registration paperwork, customers should not have to repeatedly monitor the process themselves to make sure required steps are actually being completed.
