Ive Had an ongoing court battle with the city of Lansing for the last 1 1/2 half over my driveway and my Truck being on gravel. Northside was called out to my home to tow my truck which I had just received the court papers from my lawyer the case the City opened up was thrown out and they could not touch any of My trucks. Northside was called to my home by the code compliance officer today according to the driver. The driver was very very rude screaming at me after I told him the issue that was going on telling me he could do whatever he wanted and was very hostile all of which was caught on my home camera screaming at a female in her own driveway of her property she owns and his face turning beat red with rage and anger. Hard telling what this driver would've done had the cops not shown up when they did. And afterwards I called Northside the guy who answered the phone was very nice and connected me to the manager were I asked if I needed to bring my court papers to show they couldn't do anything and the case was dismissed by the judge. The manager was very rude to which I told him he didn't have to be so rude to me and hung up. To know they have a driver that is so hostile especially to a female and when you speak to the manager to tell him and ask him a question to have him be very rude To you. I'm sure not everyone who works there is like them very rude and disrespectful to women but I would not recommend them because of these two guys Or even use them if they were the only tow company around. Northside, your drivers operate your trucks like rolling machines of death. I just saw one driving down Saginaw Street near Waverly driving like a maniac. Weaving in and out of traffic almost running one person off the road, they continued down to Elmwood, making a right turn. The only issue with this is they didn't use the turn lane but instead turned from one of the straight going lanes on Saginaw, almost smashing a car who was turning properly in the right turn lane. I almost called the cops. Get better drivers, please. read more

For some reason my neighbors son's car would not start and they parked it in our driveway. They use this service all the time and they again arrived to move this car. Our house is on a small hill, this person had a long bed that he placed the car on and "dragged" this long/heavy bed down our driveway. It sounded horrific, like demolition. He dragged this long heavy metal down the whole hill and damaged our property. When I went out and ask for his card he asked why? I said that it's dark, I want to see what happened here in the morning. He asked again why I want his card? Repeated it. This man gave me nothing but attitude, neighbor threw a pitcher of water on part of it and said....there I fixed it for you and he sided w/ her and yet it did not fix the damage. He won't come near our driveway for any reason ever again or I will call the police and I will never use this service or recommend it to anyone I know. No idea why he dragged it instead of lifting it. I don't know if he is related to the neighbors or if they just use his service so often that he was so disrespectful and unconcerned about what he did to our driveway, but not good business. And he placed a non-working vehicle in-front of our house on the street which is illegal as far as I am aware. Avoid at all costs. read more

I would like to thank Northside Service for their prompt assistance when every AARP towing service member in the Lansing area refused to help my son and I when we became stranded in a disable vehicle. Our Chev Silverado diesel went into "limbo mode" on I-69 south that provided top speed of 10mph. This happened around 4:30pm - 5:00pm. I am a member of AARP for over 10 years. After AARP exhausted its list of AARP towing services in the area, time has now pass 1:00am in the morning hours. With the abundant of contacts with AARP trying to find some help, my cell phone's battery was depleted. My son's cell phone still had some battery's life. So we decided to use it to search for help. After making contacts with a few, we was fortunately to make contact with "Northside Towing Service." The person didn't automatically deny me as the others had done before Northside. What he said, "Let me see what I can do." He told me the cost that was very reasonable. Let me mention I had offer AARP towing service members that I was willingly to pay out of pocket, but it still didn't get me any service from them. He told me that he had a service call by the airport, and I was located on Lansing Road in Charlotte. Within 30 minutes, Northside Towing Service arrived. The driver was very professional and skilled in what he was doing. The driver was very friendly. Excellent service! Very accommodating! Reasonable price! Thank you Northside Service! Extremely rude service. DO NOT use these guys unless you want a headache. I had an all-wheel drive car that wouldn't start, so I needed it towed to the dealership. The tow truck drivers are incompetent. He tried convincing me that it would be okay to essentially drag my all-wheel drive car on the road, since he didn't have the correct type of truck to load it on his truck correctly, and he didn't know how to manually put the car in neutral. I had to swear and argue with the customer service for 10 minutes before he sent me somebody with the knowledge to deal with my situation. All in all I waited 3 hours for a truck when it shouldn't have been more than a 45 minute wait. I will never again use this terrible excuse of a business again. read more

I've unfortunately had to be a customer of Northside more often than I might like to, but each time has been a pleasant experience. The AAA service estimated an hours wait but each time they arrived within 30 minutes. The gentleman that towed the car was very careful to make sure the car was properly towed without damage. When I was by myself, he was kind enough to wait with me for my ride to arrive at the dealership since it was dark. The second time when I needed a tow and AAA wouldn't provide it due to my location they quickly came out and their repair shop had me back on the road the next morning. The rate was fair for having to pay out of pocket. Hopefully I won't see them for a while, but If you find yourself in need of a tow, or repair work I would certainly recommend them. read more

Update! I love the staff who drive the trucks and do the actual work of saving my butt. However, yesterday's fiasco dealing with two seemingly idiotic dispatchers at Northside left me fuming. I was locked out again, my car's electronic locking system is janked up. I go through AAA as usual, providing detailed yet simple information on where to find me and my vehicle. Northside's dispatcher did not relay this information to the driver. They simply gave the poor man the physical address of the building (which is huge and takes up an entire city block, with four entrances on four different streets) instead of providing the details. After two calls and speaking with two different dispatchers, and finally connecting with the driver, I learned from him that they did not relay my information to him. He said, "They're probably sitting in the office playing Facebook. That's what they do." Customer service FAIL, Northside. Boo on you. read more

i called northside towing i have aaa and they no longer work with them since ive done business with them in the past i preferred to call northside anyways i was quoted $75 they took the car to the address the wire in front was down to far so daniel couldn't deliver it,he called rich who said charge me $75 more to drive it to another address it was never unhooked so rich said he could take it back to northside if i didn't want to pay due to gas being $6.50 a gallon. okay ill pay the $75 extra i get home no truck call back they dropped the truck off at the wrong address so now they have to come back out remember gas is $6.50 rich has no communication skills and is rude read more

I recently sold my 17 year old vehicle. As you can imagine, The last few years were full of repairs. Luckily, the staff at Northside is very knowledgeable and honest. I started going there several years ago when their quote for a repair was better than the other quotes I had received. I have been taking my car there ever since, and have always been pleased with the honest, efficient staff. Most recently, I took my car in for a broken ball-joint. I also had a few other small issues that I asked them to check out. I had a good idea of how much the repairs would cost, and when they called with the estimate, it was right on target. I wasn't sure if I wanted to put any more money into the car, as repair costs were getting larger and closer together, but I wasn't sure where to draw the line. I expressed my concern to the mechanic and he suggested he do an inspection to see what other repairs he could predict within the coming months. He called back and stated that there were several issues that would probably come up within the next few months and suggested that I stop putting money into the vehicle, even though all of that money would have gone straight to his business. I took his advice and sold the car to a salvage yard. The folks at Northside let me keep my car in their lot for about a week while I arranged for a salvage yard to pick it up. They didn't charge me for the last inspection, either. Hopefully my new car won't need to be serviced for a while, but when it does, I'll head straight to Northside. read more

I called recently and was so appalled by Kevins un-invoked disrespectful attitude that i will never be calling again. after getting cussed at (and I don't use that language) i can here him sit the phone down and ignore me for about 30 seconds. i was in a very dangerous situation possibly life threatening and was a little freaked out and he could care less! My Excursion diesel is ready to go after a frozen water pump broke the serpentine belt. They dispatched a tow on Sunday to get the disabled truck. They worked it into their schedule and the mechanic stayed late to finish the job. The price was very much in line for the work done. No gouging an out of town customer. LYING STEALING CHEATS!!!!! We were in an accident and the cops called these idiots. When we tried to get out our stuff out of our truck they refused to let us get a thing. This included expensive tools, things we needed for the insureance company and things we use to make a living. When it was dropped off at the body shop EVERYTHING OF VALUE WAS GONE. When first called about it their receptionist, she said something about this happening AGAIN. So this is an ongoing issue for them! I will never go through Northside again. My mom used to know the previous owner of this company, so when their estimate for moving a large item was only 5 dollars different from the competing companies, I gladly accepted their bid. The driver arrived almost 15 minutes early, which didn't seem like much of an issue, although I was not ready to load the item. We both left the first location at the same time, yet driving 65-70 exactly as I hoped the driver might catch up to me, I still beat the driver by almost 15 minutes to the second location. We unloaded my item and then he told me the price. It was 20 dollars more than the estimate, 25 dollars more than the competition's estimate. When I confronted the driver with this discrepancy, I was basically told that I had to pay this higher price and that it was based on mileage as well as how long he was on the call, well if it is based on time on call, then why should I be penalized for him being excessively early and taking far longer than necessary to arrive? Since they knew the exact addresses for the estimate, time on call was the only difference. I was also never told that the price may change after delivery. I had no choice to pay but I feel like this company is scamming those who are trusting their service. read more
