Parts, labor, tax for my 4'x8' screen door.
    E R.

Hard time deciding whether I was going to give these guys are three or four stars. In the end if I look at the overall quality of work, quality of components, and the feeling I was left with, I think of three it's fair. I found their name on the next door app. It seemed like a number of people but that they did a really good job. I think the quality of the materials they use his average. Some of the components look like they came out of the 1970s. I still have a little bit of wobble in the screen door that they put in. Steve said he thought that was normal. I appreciate that they came right on time, especially for a 7 a.m. appointment, which I had forgot about and they woke me up. I also appreciate they set up their truck on the street and put traffic cones around it so the neighbors wouldn't hit it. They were in and out in just under an hour and a half. My 4-foot by 8-foot screen door cost me about $417. I probably could have spent a little more time shopping for other service providers but time was tight. I now see that other people on Yelp have also complained about the fact that they didn't clean up. I did say something to Steve specifically about some metal debris that had been left behind. He made light of it and did not come back to clean it up. I told him I thought he should have a dustbuster on his truck. That way he could pick up small bits of debris. In the end, I got my dustbuster and vacuumed it up in a few minutes. Steve seems very set in his ways and may be looking at retirement in a few years. I suggest people get more than one quote and take a look at the reviews on Yelp before making a final decision.

    Hard at work taking measurements.

Amazing service! I found out about Northridge Screen Service when they were doing some work at my neighbor's house since they bring the shop to you. (BTW- they also have a storefront where you can bring screens in need of repair.) I inquired about their rates and services offered, and they handed me a business card for full details. When I called, everything was clearly explained, including their rates. They also explained very clearly that there would be a charge for the visit if no work was done. If work was done, the service charge would be deducted from the cost of the repairs. They asked for me to give the measurements of the screens that needed repair, as well as the screens that needed to be completely rebuilt. No problem. They gave me a ballpark estimate and I scheduled an appointment. From the time I called until the time they completely finished all of the repairs, it was a total of around three hours max. I don't know if that is a normal turnaround, or if they just happened to have an opening when I called. The guys were friendly and professional. I looked at a couple of the previous reviews when they were at my house working. I didn't observe an ounce of grumpiness or rudeness. I did appreciate the dry humor of one of the guys. Dry humor can easily be misinterpreted as rudeness. I personally thought the guys were totally cool. They fixed several screens (re-screened) and rebuilt a few as well. I paid a very reasonable amount. There was even one screen that I was unsure about and they recommended NOT repairing it. Instead, they just straightened out the bent frame for free. Obviously they aren't out to just take people's money. Based on my experience, I HIGHLY recommend this company.

With the repaired/replaced screens, my cats can now enjoy the outdoors fresh air.

(This review includes a response to the business owner's reply)…read more I had a deeply disappointing experience with Paul's Windows, and I want to share it so that other homeowners know what to expect before working with this company. I reached out for a small bedroom window replacement and had one key requirement: that the new window, once installed, provide a minimum clear opening height of 13 inches. The sales associate, Art, confirmed via text that the manufacturer (Crystal Pacific) said it would: 13.1875", in fact. That was fine by me. But when I asked for that specification to be confirmed in the contract, in writing, Art refused. Let me be clear: I wasn't asking for a personal warranty on the product. I simply wanted confirmation that the installed window, as ordered and managed by Paul's Windows, would meet the functional requirement I had clearly communicated. Art repeatedly deflected, referring to "what the manufacturer said," but was unwilling to take responsibility for the result. When I asked for accountability, he became dismissive and eventually walked away from the job. I contacted Paul directly, hoping for a more professional response. Instead, I received a generic brush-off and a claim that the window wouldn't meet the specs, which contradicts what their own sales associate had already confirmed. Worse, Paul didn't acknowledge or engage with any of the valid concerns I raised around basic customer service, transparency, or professional responsibility. Ultimately, I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I was hiring a company to manage a job and deliver a specific result. If something went wrong, say, the manufacturer provided a window that didn't meet the spec, it would be on the contractor to resolve it, not on me to go chase down the supplier. That's what any responsible company would do. But Paul's Windows made it clear they don't see it that way. If you're okay with vague communication, contractors who won't stand behind their own work, and potentially being left to deal with problems on your own, maybe this company is fine. But if you want clarity, professionalism, and accountability in writing, then look elsewhere. § Paul's response below is a classic damage control move -- polite on the surface, but full of deflection and quiet rewriting of events. To clarify: the window in question would have met the required 13" clear opening. That wasn't in dispute. Art, their sales associate, confirmed that in writing and was fully prepared to proceed with the job -- until I asked for a simple written accountability. That's the moment everything fell apart. Paul's follow-up misrepresents the timeline and sidesteps the core issue -- not whether the window would fit, but whether the company was willing to stand behind the result they were being paid to deliver.

After signing the contract the windows were ordered and arrived in about 3 weeks. The installation team worked quickly and Art was there to see it complete. Retrofitted the windows to fit in my existing frames to avoid having to work on the wall. Added the grids to match the style of the old windows since I have a condo and HOA would probably have an issue if not everyone's windows matched since it's a shared building.

It was clear it was time for a replacement. Before choosing James, I got a quote from a very popular windows and doors company in Orange County. James, the owner of Lucero's Windows and Doors, not only offered the best price but was also extremely responsive. He mentioned that he previously worked as a Home Depot installer, which gave me confidence that he was properly trained. I was initially cautious because of the low number of reviews, but the consistent perfect scores from other customers made me optimistic. Now, after working with him, I can confidently say that Lucero's Windows and Doors is the real deal. Because our home required a custom-sized door, James came out twice to take measurements. After about two weeks, the custom entry door arrived, and he completed the installation in a single day. He told me our home was one of the oldest he's worked on, and the walls were very different from newer builds. Despite the challenges, he made everything fit perfectly, and the final result looks fantastic. We no longer feel a draft under the door, and it swings smoothly without any issues.

I found The Affordable & Licensed Handyman through Yelp because they had great reviews so I was interested to see how much their service fee would be for a simple job when I was looking for a plumber. I needed a license plumber due to home insurance requirement to do this installation or I would've done it myself. They were responsive when I talked to them through Yelp projects. I was shocked with how much I was quoted because it was almost double the price of the automatic shut off valve device I paid for. So I had to confirm that the price that was given to me was just to switch out the bad unit with the new one. They didn't have to do anything else like run new pipes or replace anything else. When I communicated to them that the quote was high, they asked how much did i wanted to pay. I thought they would try to be more reasonable since the name is The Affordable. I give them a range based on the prices from other plumbing company that I reached out to and they couldn't do it which I understand they can set their own prices. Maybe for big projects, they'll give more of a reasonable price which is why they have great reviews on Yelp but just to replace a bad automatic shut off valve with a brand new one, I think it was overprice so I used another plumbing company where they were very reasonable on the price.
