Granted this mall does have some of the name brand stores, the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. I have only gone to this mall once and that was over a year ago. I prefer to go to the Del Monte Center in Monterey. I drive by this mall when I occasionally go to the movie theater located behind the mall or to the Toys R Us; but I never have a desire to go into the mall. It's not well kept and there are a lot of empty store fronts. Even though this mall is closer to where I live I am willing to drive father to go to Del Monte, their shops are cleaner, the staff in the stores are friendlier and you get to enjoy the fresh air since the Del Monte center is an outdoor mall. read more

Nothing too exciting here. As a child this was the go to place to hang out and have some fun as the stores had a variety to select from. Such as toys, games, music, books, clothes etc... But now it's all repititious. In all honesty it's looking a lot more like the indoor swapmeet on Alisal Rd. When in reality that's not a bad thing; however, when you go to a mall out of town the experience is far from an indoor swapmeet. If you catch my drift. All in all, yawn! I would recomend you check out the local boutiques in Old Town and support the local community than to come here and waste ur time shopping for something you're never going to find. read more

I no longer shop at Northridge Mall. The environment is no longer appealing, it's more of a swap meet. The people who go to the mall to snack on fruit cups, tostadas etc sit around and stare at the actual shoppers, very uncomfortable. Northridge Mall no longer has a variety selection of stores to chose from with quality clothes. The mall is plain and a lot of my favorite stores closed. I do not mind to drive to Monterey and San Jose to shop and be in a better atmosphere with people who are actually going to the mall to shop. read more

I love to go shopping in malls. I mean why not? There are ample stores to wonder in and just buy things of interest. I like to buy shoes, jeans, shirts and hats all in that order. Northridge mall in Salinas is a indoor strip. It is not built in a circular structure where you have to walk around the entire mall to get to the Macy's or J C Pennys but instead you have to walk through Macy's to get to J C Penny's to get to Sears. Its just weird. I like to enjoy the view when I shop but there are just a bunch of paisa guys that just sit around the mall with no bags. Not enticing to come here often although I do get good deals at Northride Mall. read more

Like many people born and raised in South County, you can't help but love Northridge Mall because you grew up with it! My favorite things about it before were the Carousel which they SADLY removed to make space for food stands/kiosks I also remember the great times of the arcade site Aladdin's Castle which I was also upset they removed years ago. Overall, the mall itself is mediocre, but for the most part has what I need to purchase without needing to make the drive to Gilroy or SJ. Granted, I will say the Monterey Macy's is leaps and bounds better than the Salinas Macy's. I do like that they have Macy's, JC Penny's (which is currently being remodeled) and Sears. They also have a pretty good sized Forever 21, which used to be Mervyns (RIP). They do have a lot of things for children to do and be occupied with. My favorite being the life sized mechanical animals to ride around. So awesome! I was very happy they put in an H&M. It's about time to get newer stores. Also very excited about the Ulta they're building outside the mall. Food court is also pretty decent and has a good selection. There is always something good to eat. Overall, the mall is not that bad. Great memories here, but I hope the mall will continue to bring in new stores and remodel. I advise to NOT come on weekends. SUPER PACKED! read more

There are malls I like a lot more in this area. I'm just not rating this mall that negatively because it serves my purpose when I need to go there (which is rare). It has a lot of stores that I can find anywhere else at any major mall, but at least I know what I'm expecting. The food in the food court is good enough for a quick eat. read more

I love going to my LOCAL mall all the time. Sure there are Latinos everywhere, guess what, I'm Latino so I am fine with it. I seriously do not care whether they are there to shop or just walk around, these people are the community, so embrace it. Everyone has the right to shop in a mall. I just happen to be in the area and drove by this mall...that's all I did, was drove by...Is it a trend now that heffalumps wear one or two sizes smaller and having their muffin top soufflé everywhere? The Salinas mall is great it is kept clean there's plenty parking and there are alot of stores to shop at for a variety of things. There's been some recent new stores added aswell as an arcade. I do however wish they had more variety of restaurants as most places to eat in the mall is fast food. Overall I highly recommend shopping here. read more

Parking lot is dangerous, the whole place is poorly lit at night time and the mall has a lot of stores that are struggling to stay a float. On weekends, this place gets wild. I do not recommend this mall. You're better of going to Del Monte in Monterey or go to San Jose. read more

Disgusting! The worst mall I have ever visited. I was just appalled at this place. From top to bottom it is horrible. This place is so dirty, gross, and outdated I could not believe it. I almost didn't get out of the car I was just plain in shock. I went here wth my daughters thinkin this would be great to try somewhere new. Ohhhhhh no.....not a good place to go. We stayed maybe 45min and took off. All the stores are unappealing, most are not popular stores but some ma pa type shops with ludacris goods to sell that were garbage. How does this mall stay open? Terrible mall but all these reviews hating on the fact that there are a bunch of Mexicans there, firstly, racist. Secondly, hello we live in Salinas! What do you expect? Aside from the clientele at the mall, it's annoying that the mall is one long strip because it means that if you're at Macys and want to grab a bite at the Bagel Bakery you have to walk the entire length of the mall and pass through JCPennys (which is always a crowded mess btw). I guess on the plus side (and minus side) the mall is small so it's not a long walk at all, just a hassle. I found though, that this mall tends to have really good deals (My theory is that people don't buy nice stuff so it ends up going on super sale). For example, the other day at the Gap it was 50% off all clearance but the GAP at Del Monte didn't have that same deal. If you want to avoid the crowds come on weekdays. read more

Unfortunately Monterey folks who are not accustomed to seeing Hispanic people have given this place bad reviews because they think they are going to get shot. Guess what?! You aren't! You are safe! There are a handful of generic stores but there are also Name Brand stores like Macy's, Gap, Victoria's Secret, Disney, Hollister. Also there's a Sears which is what it is. I really like all the new stores that this mall has added in the last 5 years. It has everything I need and it's small enough that it's easy for me to get to all the stores I want in a few hours. Good heavens this mall blows. Perhaps it was always this bad?? As a teen in the 80's it was pretty much the only gig in town: DelMonte Center in Monterey was for the geriatric crowd, so this was the bangin' place to be for the young set. It still is, but the young set is now also the ghetto set. I don't remember Northridge being so gansta. The anchor stores are Sears (please) and Mervyn's (RIP). The rest of the stores have a "temporary" feel to them, as if by next Wednesday they will pull up stakes and leave town. Someone down-comment mentioned a swap-meet feel to the mall: that is true!! Even my beloved Macys is more ghetto than a wallmart. I cant tell the diff between it and the now-dead Mervyns! Speaking of, they've just put in a Forever 21 in the old Mervyns storefront. My nice jacket and phone got stolen from my friend's truck in SB in the Trader Joe's parking lot, and we kept calling the phone and I guess the thief had sold it for$100 at a flea market in San Bernardino? I'm still kind of in love with this mall. Its small, close and convenient. It has all the basic stores that you need. It does not have a food court but it does have restaurants along on the side like Carls Jr's and blazing bagels...I really don't see the problem here. I have been going to this place since I was little. They recently re-painted it with some really funky color scheme that makes it look more like a swapmeet than a mall. The three main department stores are Sears, JC Penney and Macy's. I guess Forever 21 can also be considered a department store. With the exception of JCPenney The other department stores have not remodeled at all. They look run down. I gave it two stars because sometimes during the holiday season they will have vendors in carts that sell really weird items. The place is crowded on Sundays and the occasional cholo will be patrolling the area. The carousel is $2 which is cool. Once in a while they will hold traditional Mexican Festivities which is ok with me but it just draws crowds of loiterers. read more

Ok, I love love this mall because I had the best massage ever; the kind that makes you say "I am going to give you a 35% tip, after this." The place is across from Finish line. I got the full body one hour and it is worth it. If you work out or need some really deep massage ask for the deep tissue, make sure they understand before they start so you can just chill out and relax; it is going to hurt so good. Moreover, there is a blaze, panda express, DQ and Macys; for me it is a good place to chill out and see what is trending, people watching and grab a snack or dinner. It has free wifi. read more

C'mon now, this mall isn't THAT horrible. It's a little dated on the outside, (odd, because the inside looks at least somewhat modern-ish) and it does get crowded, but it's a mall - and it's got more to offer (at least store-wise) than the Del Monte Center. The crowd here is definitely not the kind of crowd you'd see at Del Monte, but that's understandable, since this mall isn't in Monterey. I'm not one to over-analyze people's intentions, or play the Fear Game because to worry about your surroundings 24/7 is, frankly, exhausting, but I didn't feel terribly unsafe at any time while shopping here. I'm subtracting stars because: Sears is a MESS (although they do carry regular bootcut jeans - hooray! It's awfully hard to find stores that carry a variety of jeans, since skinny jeans are The Thing now) and Panda Express was sold out of water bottles, as well as chopsticks. I have a sneaking suspicion that people just swipe the chopsticks for no good reason. Their ice dispenser was also not working. The food court was terribly loud, too; which kind of takes away from any ambiance you might want, while eating. Northridge is better than the Vallco Mall in Cupertino, at least: there's a Cinnabon AND a DQ, and it's not creepily quiet all the time, like Vallco is. read more
