We were driving north on the 101 and wanted a restroom and a place to take a walk. We decided the Northridge Mall would be a good choice. Now I remember that I had been here before some years back and the mall was getting a little dumpy. To my pleasant surprise it is being rebuilt and refurbished, and the shops that are there are so clean and welcoming. We entered through the JCPenney and found but now they are selling all kinds of huge household appliances, who would have known? Everything again was super clean, and I just almost started shopping, but I maintain my focus and use the bathrooms, which are completely new and done up in a very modern style. I was impressed. Well the mall has great long Halls lots of stores, and great air conditioning. I recommended for a stop, this may be one of the better rest areas I know of. Don't tell everyone, let it be our little secret. read more

There are malls I like a lot more in this area. I'm just not rating this mall that negatively because it serves my purpose when I need to go there (which is rare). It has a lot of stores that I can find anywhere else at any major mall, but at least I know what I'm expecting. The food in the food court is good enough for a quick eat. read more

Like many people born and raised in South County, you can't help but love Northridge Mall because you grew up with it! My favorite things about it before were the Carousel which they SADLY removed to make space for food stands/kiosks I also remember the great times of the arcade site Aladdin's Castle which I was also upset they removed years ago. Overall, the mall itself is mediocre, but for the most part has what I need to purchase without needing to make the drive to Gilroy or SJ. Granted, I will say the Monterey Macy's is leaps and bounds better than the Salinas Macy's. I do like that they have Macy's, JC Penny's (which is currently being remodeled) and Sears. They also have a pretty good sized Forever 21, which used to be Mervyns (RIP). They do have a lot of things for children to do and be occupied with. My favorite being the life sized mechanical animals to ride around. So awesome! I was very happy they put in an H&M. It's about time to get newer stores. Also very excited about the Ulta they're building outside the mall. Food court is also pretty decent and has a good selection. There is always something good to eat. Overall, the mall is not that bad. Great memories here, but I hope the mall will continue to bring in new stores and remodel. I advise to NOT come on weekends. SUPER PACKED! read more

I love going to my LOCAL mall all the time. Sure there are Latinos everywhere, guess what, I'm Latino so I am fine with it. I seriously do not care whether they are there to shop or just walk around, these people are the community, so embrace it. Everyone has the right to shop in a mall. All the white people that cannot stand a large Latino community should really look into their souls, shame on you. I am tired of having people looking back at the "old times," if you don't like businesses there, then open one you so dearly miss. read more

man many people hating on this mall when it has many stores to offer when you live here it's whatever but once you move like i did to a smaller city you have no malls!! then i came back to visit my folks and this place seems awesome! very sad to see the carousal gone now.. that thing was awesome as a kid but now with technology kids now a days not interested in that but anyways back to mall they have many stores here like JC penny, sears, macys, forever 21, game stop, spencers, etc. and small to big food stands but the service in a lot of these places might be so great but what do you expect it's a start off job with surprising a lot of them being young 16-20 age employees, which i assume they hire them to appeal to the masses aka younger audience and by the looks of it the cooperations at the mall know majority of it's peers are kids huh boom business politics for you guys business 101 haha but anyways in conclusion!! people who live here take it for granted read more

Northridge Mall - R.I.P carousal!! :'( - Shopping Centers Near Me - Salinas, California

The Salinas mall is great it is kept clean there's plenty parking and there are alot of stores to shop at for a variety of things. There's been some recent new stores added aswell as an arcade. I do however wish they had more variety of restaurants as most places to eat in the mall is fast food. Overall I highly recommend shopping here. read more

Great shopping center, best place to go shopping in the area. This shopping center offers a plethora of amenities including but not limited to an indoor food court with many choices, various stores, and a great atmosphere overall to enjoy an evening. It is truly a great place ! read more

Poor lighting outside. Go at your own risk. You have a gun at the back of your head and you're being robbed be aware the security won't help. Cameras won't either. PD won't be of much help either. You definitely won't feel like the victim when they're through with you. This is the happening thing but you won't see reports on it. The mall isn't what I call a mall either. Please be careful if you choose to go to this place. read more

I'd say Every time I go here I have a BLAST! The only problem this mall has is the unsanitary and dirty read more

Northridge Mall - I don't get me wrong I love this mall. I always have a BLAST every time I come. The problem is that the floors are so dirty and ugly. - Shopping Centers Near Me - Salinas, California

I'm an employee at a store in this mall. Could have been better for me to be better for many others if it's your case. Still I keep trying and so should you. Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Watch yourselves and your distances. read more

It's cool, been coming here all my life. It gets irritating having to deal with all the older perverted men who like staring at your daughters, girlfriends, or wives and those parents who at their kids run wild read more

No changing tables for babies. Go to San Jose for good shopping experience with family.

Not a bad variety. Wish the mall had a little more to it but, more stores are being added. So defentily getting alot better. Still a great place to shop or place to get food. Can only it still improves from this point on. read more

I don't get all the negative reviews, I was here today and didn't see anything wrong with it, I didn't see any gangbangers, all I saw was families walking around, kids having fun, even some cool old ladies riding the carrusell... I think all the negative reviews are from boring people that go to the boring mall at Monterey. read more

Disgusting! The worst mall I have ever visited. I was just appalled at this place. From top to bottom it is horrible. This place is so dirty, gross, and outdated I could not believe it. I almost didn't get out of the car I was just plain in shock. I went here wth my daughters thinkin this would be great to try somewhere new. Ohhhhhh no.....not a good place to go. We stayed maybe 45min and took off. All the stores are unappealing, most are not popular stores but some ma pa type shops with ludacris goods to sell that were garbage. How does this mall stay open? I will never ever ever EVER come back here. read more

Sorry, Northridge Mall! I only give you two stars. Poor selection of retail stores. It seems the mall is heading towards a swap meet feel. Come on guys...what happend with quality stores and beautiful architecture. I rather drive to S.J. or even drive to downtown Salinas. Maybe the owners of Northridge Mall should consider to expand the mall or destroy it. : ( read more

Terrible mall but all these reviews hating on the fact that there are a bunch of Mexicans there, firstly, racist. Secondly, hello we live in Salinas! What do you expect? Aside from the clientele at the mall, it's annoying that the mall is one long strip because it means that if you're at Macys and want to grab a bite at the Bagel Bakery you have to walk the entire length of the mall and pass through JCPennys (which is always a crowded mess btw). I guess on the plus side (and minus side) the mall is small so it's not a long walk at all, just a hassle. I found though, that this mall tends to have really good deals (My theory is that people don't buy nice stuff so it ends up going on super sale). For example, the other day at the Gap it was 50% off all clearance but the GAP at Del Monte didn't have that same deal. If you want to avoid the crowds come on weekdays. read more

I agree with Yummy, Rhonda and Yumi... this place bummed me out. I only went since I was getting a specific tire at the tire shop at Sears. I had time to kill and wow... there was not a store in sight that I wanted to walk into and that says a lot coming from a recovering shopaholic. No joke. read more

This all has everything you need. It does get busy on Sundays. Unfortunately Monterey folks who are not accustomed to seeing Hispanic people have given this place bad reviews because they think they are going to get shot. Guess what?! You aren't! You are safe! There are a handful of generic stores but there are also Name Brand stores like Macy's, Gap, Victoria's Secret, Disney, Hollister. Also there's a Sears which is what it is. If you need to go to Sears for something, then you've pretty much got to go to Sears. Overall its a decent mall. read more

My review is right on par with all other reviews, everyday it does look more like a flea market. Fruit stands and mariachi's in a mall? I guess malls are always a reflection of the local inhabitants, mostly our youth. If I ever forced to come here I try to get in and out. read more

Clean and nice mall. Love the variety of stores! Also pretty good variety of food options! don't think they have any vegan spots ;/

I've worked at the mall before for 2 yrs and I still didn't like it ! The management of the mall is HORRIBLE ! The color scheme looks ugly ! And just because iam Mexican doesn't mean you can come up to me talking Spanish just assuming Idk English ! Store selection is alright ? Went today to buy a gift at least everything was on sale ! :) read more

Good heavens this mall blows. Perhaps it was always this bad?? As a teen in the 80's it was pretty much the only gig in town: DelMonte Center in Monterey was for the geriatric crowd, so this was the bangin' place to be for the young set. It still is, but the young set is now also the ghetto set. I don't remember Northridge being so gansta. The anchor stores are Sears (please) and Mervyn's (RIP). The rest of the stores have a "temporary" feel to them, as if by next Wednesday they will pull up stakes and leave town. Someone down-comment mentioned a swap-meet feel to the mall: that is true!! Even my beloved Macys is more ghetto than a wallmart. I cant tell the diff between it and the now-dead Mervyns! Speaking of, they've just put in a Forever 21 in the old Mervyns storefront. This may be the new trendy store, but it dosent help the mall's image any. read more

This is an ok mall! My nice jacket and phone got stolen from my friend's truck in SB in the Trader Joe's parking lot, and we kept calling the phone and I guess the thief had sold it for$100 at a flea market in San Bernardino? And the buyer was this meth-y girl who wanted to meet here and sell it back to me for $50 bucks. I gave her $60 cuz she seemed sweet. read more

What a ghetto mall this place is! The all the public bathrooms were "out of order" or under construction, the stores and the entire mall is tired looking. Macy's floors are and cleanliness is hideous. I've shopped nicer malls in third world countries. The pits! Keep going folks and shop in Monterey or San Jose where you feel respected. read more

Parking lot is dangerous, the whole place is poorly lit at night time and the mall has a lot of stores that are struggling to stay a float. On weekends, this place gets wild. I do not recommend this mall. You're better of going to Del Monte in Monterey or go to San Jose. read more

I really like all the new stores that this mall has added in the last 5 years. It has everything I need and it's small enough that it's easy for me to get to all the stores I want in a few hours. Lots of food places also. It's not a fancy mall but it's clean And has something for everyone. read more

I'm still kind of in love with this mall. Its small, close and convenient. It has all the basic stores that you need. It does not have a food court but it does have restaurants along on the side like Carls Jr's and blazing bagels...I really don't see the problem here. If you don't like the crowds, just go early in the afternoon read more

Not at all like a mall. Most stores are really bad. More of a swapmeet. Wanted to walk out tight away, but thought maybe it was just the entrance. Nope, it was the whole mall. Will not be back! Macys had empty racks, clothes scattered everywhere. Could not find anything on appropriate place. Victoria Secret, was the same nothing in its place, forever 21 was terrible, looked like a Ross. Will not be there anytime soon. read more

I Wanted To Get Some High Quality Joggers For A Low Price. Thankfully, There's A H&M That Sells Joggers For $20-$30 While U Can Get Joggers In Other Stores For About $50 Or Even $70 I Recommend Going To H&M If You Want To Buy High Quality Clothes For A Low Price The Only Problem Of This Mall Is Pretty Much Every Store Is The Same I Have To Go To San Jose Or Milpitas To REALLY Shop But Remember: Always Go To The July 4th Sales!! read more

This is a horrible Mall. The food are ok. People are rude, the children are rude & the parents seem to be fine with how their kids are behaving. Even the employees inside the mall are rude also. Restrooms are disgusting and no joke but I have enter a fitting room where there was a dirty diaper in it and it look like it had been smeared on the wall! DISGUSTING!!! Not much to look at or shop for & some styles are funky looking. I will order online or willing to drive to San Jose to shop before shopping at this mall. read more

I have been going to this place since I was little. They recently re-painted it with some really funky color scheme that makes it look more like a swapmeet than a mall. The three main department stores are Sears, JC Penney and Macy's. I guess Forever 21 can also be considered a department store. With the exception of JCPenney The other department stores have not remodeled at all. They look run down. I gave it two stars because sometimes during the holiday season they will have vendors in carts that sell really weird items. The place is crowded on Sundays and the occasional cholo will be patrolling the area. The carousel is $2 which is cool. Once in a while they will hold traditional Mexican Festivities which is ok with me but it just draws crowds of loiterers. read more

This place is super crowded with people who are here just loitering. Felt like it was a hang out for gang members and gun fire could start at any moment. It was dirty. The department stores had clothes and items all over the floors or opened. I do not plan to shop at this mall ever again. read more

Just an update- the haircut place I mention in my review is now closed but thankfully our stylist moved to niethridge nails located closer to JC Penney. Hate to send people to a place that closed! read more

C'mon now, this mall isn't THAT horrible. It's a little dated on the outside, (odd, because the inside looks at least somewhat modern-ish) and it does get crowded, but it's a mall - and it's got more to offer (at least store-wise) than the Del Monte Center. The crowd here is definitely not the kind of crowd you'd see at Del Monte, but that's understandable, since this mall isn't in Monterey. I'm not one to over-analyze people's intentions, or play the Fear Game because to worry about your surroundings 24/7 is, frankly, exhausting, but I didn't feel terribly unsafe at any time while shopping here. I'm subtracting stars because: Sears is a MESS (although they do carry regular bootcut jeans - hooray! It's awfully hard to find stores that carry a variety of jeans, since skinny jeans are The Thing now) and Panda Express was sold out of water bottles, as well as chopsticks. I have a sneaking suspicion that people just swipe the chopsticks for no good reason. Their ice dispenser was also not working. The food court was terribly loud, too; which kind of takes away from any ambiance you might want, while eating. Northridge is better than the Vallco Mall in Cupertino, at least: there's a Cinnabon AND a DQ, and it's not creepily quiet all the time, like Vallco is. read more

Seriously PPL get over the "Ghetto"... It's a Great mall for the locals... If you expect to find Gucci, Rolex or any other freaking top notch brands your are Freaking beyond stupid... This mall is just to bring you what is necessary.. Now all these ppl from Frisco, San Diego, San Jose, Etc. Why do you come to shop to this mall when it's more than obvious the places you guys live in have better malls that have a much more variety of stores???? It's like if I expect for a Motel to have the same service as a 5start Hotel! Stop calling our mall Ghetto.. Our mall is fine for us and if you don't like it then go shop to the mall that ppl wit a stick up their ass do... read more

This place isn't too bad. I'm not from the area but my husband and I went here to hang for a bit before our check in time at a nearby hotel. The mall itself seems pretty spread out with few stores in the main building and other stores in different buildings across the parking lot. The bathrooms in the food court were clean and there seemed to be a good bunch of people just enjoying their time there. There was a strange vibe I got from the place though.. which didn't make the place too welcoming. The smaller store selection though and the strange vibe is why I give this 2 stars... not a bad place, but not THE place either. read more

This mall was the place where I would hang out with my friends in high school lol. It was also the place where I got my first two jobs! Great memories. Having said that, this place needs to be modernized. I believe my aunt who came to the US in the 70's says that this place hasn't changed it all. Come on now. It has become a freaking indoor swapmeet....unacceptable. read more

I am a mallaholic. But unfortunately a recent trip to this mall and I could probably swear off mall visits forever. It had been awhile since I had been to this mall but today, I thought I'd take my girls here for a change of scenery. BIG MISTAKE!!!! Except for the Build a Bear clone shop and Sanrio which my girls enjoyed, the mall had nothing to offer except for shops offering cheap and poorly made clothing, stuff you don't need, etc. It's not that I'm against saving money, but I believe that it is possible to buy a quality piece of clothing if you're willing to shop around. Also, the mall is dark, and just not inviting. read more
