Later, my wife determined that while the clothes were cute, they were not really her style. We decided to return the them two weeks later. We needed to return the clothes within two weeks as this was the stores policy. We drove the 70 miles and planned to spend another day at the ocean so it wasn't an issue. When we went to the store to return the clothes (only three items), the same young lady who helped us before was helping my wife with the return. She was curtious and asked if there was something wrong with the clothes. My wife explained that the clothes were just not her style. While the first lady was processing the return, a second lady (blonde) came up and asked why my wife was returning the clothes and she gave the same response. Then the blonde lady became very agressive. She asked why my wife bought the clothes if she did not like them. My wife was shocked and asked if she was the owner. She said she just worked there and repeated her question. She was agressive and rude. I was shocked and had stayed by the door. I now went over to my wife who was visibly shaken up. I asked the sales lady if there was a problem. She said no that the return was being process but didn't understand why my wife had bought the clothes if she didn't like them. I asked her if she really wanted me to tell her what I thought or if she just wanted to let the nice sales lady process the return and for us to leave. My wife was offering to look at other clothes but I said we will not be shopping here again. We purchased a few items because we thought they were cute. She later decided they were not her style. We dorove 70 miles to return them. And we get a very agressive cross-examination from a sales clerk. We are done.

The clothes are a nice quality, and not overly priced, which is very exciting to me. The sales woman was very friendly and nice, her well behaved doggy lays sweetly on one of the chairs while "mommy" works - how sweet is that. The shopping plaza it's in is dog friendly, so there are a lot of dogs around. Next time I come to Carmel, I am coming to this store. I am hopeful I can make a couple of trips to the one in San Francisco before then. If you sign up for their email list, they email you coupons. I just got my 1st one for 30% off one item. http://www.georgioustore.com/

When in the Carmel area we make it a point to stop by The Barnyard. The Lafayette Bakery is one of…read moreour favorites so it's the draw. While we're there it's always nice to stroll around the grounds which are impeccably and beautifully maintained. Alas, accessibility is not a strong suit as there are small groupings of stairs everywhere you turn! The stores are mostly upscale with accompanying prices; if you have good taste - but desire a bargain - you'll have your work cut out finding it here. Also many stores seem to be closed several days of the week. I'm not sure why, but The Barnyard has been near deserted on our last couple visits. Deserted to the point where it seemed we were the only people there! Such a difference from downtown Carmel which is usually bustling. It would be a shame to see this beautiful place go under, but they need to do something different to attract customers...

I love Josh Hardy gallery because, although it's small, every work on the wall is a masterpiece. He was wearing all black so I didn't know who the person was or why he was doing that and I didn't confront him. He then walked away. Imagine you pull into a public parking lot open to the public, run in to Safeway and get coffee and a donut and sit in your car to read emails while you have your morning snack and along comes a guy in all black who starts placing cones around your car. I waited until he was gone and I got out to move them so I could leave and out of no where he comes running up saying 'I'll do that!' Looking back on it all I was parked at the end of a row of spaces so he could have coned off all the spaces except mine and none of this confrontation would happen. Anyway while he moves the cones he asks if I work there. What the heck? You're in all black placing cones around cars early in the morning and then asking people if they work for Safeway? I ask him if he works there because he is the one placing cones around cars. I called the management to complain and got an actual human being on the third call. So grateful for that! That's excellent customer service. Expressed my concern and then found the guy again later who now had on a high vis vest on and driving an official crossroad vehicle. When I asked him for his name (Mike) he asked for mine. Seemed a bit confrontational when I told him I wasn't giving my name. I'm the customer who was trying to use services provided by the crossroads shopping center being treated poorly by untrained staff with a police ego, bad form crossroads. Do better. Stop confronting customers after hours in the dark while wearing all black.
