I am probably one of the last 30 somethings in existence who is not connected to social media so I am using my wife's account to write this review. After talking with a co-worker who recommended that I call Northgate, I did just that. Mike listened to my story and professionally responded with how he does business. He promptly arranged for my car to be towed to his shop the next day and instead of waiting two days, he called me the same day to give me an update and a plan of action. Mike explained to me what he and his team were going to do and even offered a loaner car if I needed. Mike said the repairs would take a week and that is exactly how long it took. They even replaced an oxygen sensor, which I had been procrastinating, and sway-bar link, which was the culprit of and unidentified rattle I had noticed. All of this work, and the price was still better than the "other guy." Throughout the entire process, I felt like I was their only customer. When I went to pick up my car I noticed that they had thoroughly cleaned the outside and inside, who does that? I truly feel like I am driving a new car. Because we live In a world that is focused on profit maximization and seemingly satisfied with mediocre service that meets the minimums, I rarely feel compelled to give many "pats on the back." The instant my transmission began acting up, I pulled in to the nearest transmission shop. They were not rude, so I rented a car and drove home. It was two days later before they called to tell me the bad news...It was expensive, which was to be expected, and I got the feeling that they were indifferent about doing the work. These guys are great!! I'm from out of town and my transmission went out on me leaving me stranded for the two weeks I was here working. Joseph Chevrolet said they were 3 weeks out on transmission work but to call Mike at Northgate transmission, that's were they send all of there customers that need something done quicker than they can do it. I called Mike and even though it was after his work hours he was kind enough to stay on the phone with me to help diagnose my truck than helped me out with the tow that came shortly after. When he finally got my truck he showed how the dealers work that I payed 5,000$ for the week before was shotty and the cause of my transmission problem. To make this story a lot shorter Mike Yeager and Northgate Transmissions helped me to get the dealer to pay for all the work needed that Mike gladly did and did very well and quick! It was a great experience for such a frustrating situation that I was in and I'm glad that I was recommended to him because he restored my faith in American business! If I could give them 10 stars I would! My family and i were visiting KY from WI when our transmission went out on the way back home. Before our tow came we called another shop and explained the situation. The other shop said it would take them at least a week, if not more. They then highly recommended Northgate to us. We called Northgate and spoke to Mike, the owner. He said he would try to squeeze us in. When we pulled up to the shop we weren't very optimistic as it was a very hopping place. However, knowing we really needed to get back home, Mike was able to squeeze us in and we were able to have the transmission installed before they closed for the day! Mike was so great. He went above and beyond for us knowing we needed to get back home. He also had great communication, texting us updates. The charges were aslo very reasonable, proving this is an honest company and doesn't take advanatage of it's customers. It is obvious that Mike is passionate about his company and his customers. There was an increasingly nasty noise coming from my fiance's transmission. The dealer was happy to install a remanufactured transmission for $5,500. But they also recommended that I call Mike at Northgate Transmissions. After a lot of research and troubleshooting, I took it to Mike who quickly said it was a loose heat shield on a catalytic converter (not visible on this SUV). A $3 clamp was installed on the heat shield and the noise was gone. So not only did Mike immediately know what the problem was (and what it wasn't), but he was honest, and patiently endured my continued questions. There are plenty of places in town that would've taken plenty of money along the way and possibly charged us for a transmission overhaul, but Mike wasn't one of them. I appreciated his knowledge, but also his honesty and integrity. Unfortunately for me I've had two vehicles in the last year experience transmission troubles. The fortunate part was finding Northgate Transmission. The first transmission to go out I did a lot of research and getting estimates. Based on the great reviews and how comfortable Mike made me feel after speaking with him plus he offered a 2 year 24 thousand mile warranty where most only offered 1 year, I went with Northgate Transmission. They did an AWESOME job and went above and beyond with the work that was done. The second vehicle to have transmission problems, I didn't have to waste any time thinking about it. I called Mike and he took care of me once again at a very fair price and great service! Mike always treats you like and ol friend. Hopefully I won't have any near future transmission problems but if and when I do I won't hesitate on calling Mike and taking it to Northgate Transmission. read more

I Would recommend these guys to anyone. Excellent service. My jeep didn't move when I called Northgate Transmission, they called a tow truck for me so it was one less thing I had to worry about. I do most my own maintenance on my jeep and the fact that Mike took the time to explain to me what had actually happened went above and beyond for me. He even took pictures of the broken parts to show me. My jeep is running great thanks to Northgate Transmission. It was a good experience, went smooth, great service and good price. I appreciate Mike and Megan (and I know there are others) that helped me with the vehicle. We went there because we knew Megan worked there but we made the right move. Mike kept in touch with my husband regarding the repairs. The transmission in my 2012 Captiva was truly damaged. Mike also gave us a loaner car to use while the car was in the shop. Who does that anymore? I got my car back yesterday and it is great!! He also has asked to have it back in about 500 to 1,000 miles to check on it. Most places do not do that. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the work and the manner in which Mike and his team do business. They are very accessible, willing to explain the nature of the work to be completed and offer the best of the available options...which sometimes involves NOT making the repair at all. My son recently had repair work completed and the preparation and follow-up were meticulous. The repair took a little longer than Mike had estimated and in return for the slight inconvenience, Mike offered to address another issue that had been uncovered during his repair assessment. I have had 2 vehicles serviced at Northgate Transmission. The first one was when I was 22 and had a Ford Taurus in 2012. I asked around and everyone directed to me Northgate Transmission. Being a young girl with car troubles can be intimidating but the whole Process was super smooth and not intimidating. That car is still going strong in 2016! When my transmission went out in my Ford Explorer XLT a few years later I knew exactly where to take it. They have the best prices and best all around experience. Mike and his team rebuilt my 2003 Acura CL's transmission to our satisfaction. Mike is about as customer centric as it gets. First he explained the cause of the failure and then the corrective action. He kept us informed during the process. He finished on time and at the price he quoted, which was a fair price considering they cover the transmission for two years. No one likes to hear "your transmission failed" but Northgate turned this into a very positive consumer experience. Mike and his team were second to none on my transmission rebuild. From the first call to the final bill I was charged exactly what I was quoted. No hidden fees or extra add ons. The most impressive part of the whole experience is how quickly they turned my truck around. In less than 36 hours they had the transmission out, rebuilt and reinstalled. My transmission went out on my 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse and Mike knew about the issues that this year model had. The other transmission places I called didn't have a clue. I had it towed to them to be fixed. He is very knowledgeable about the work they do and found that the transmission had more than one issue when it failed but only charged me for the one I called about. The guys at Northgate Transmission did a great job for me. I needed the transmission replaced on my Suzuki 4wd. They were able to locate a really good deal on a rebuilt one for me. The shipping arrangements were made and as soon as the transmission arrived they installed it. The quote they gave me for the work was reasonable and they stuck by their price, even they it took them longer to fix than they thought it would (its a 4wd). The transmission rebuild on my Nissan Titan was very well explained in advance and completed on schedule. Transmission work is quite expensive, but if a consumer is confident that the repairs are necessary, competently performed and covered by a reliable warranty, they are less painful. What a great experience. I really like my 2000 Bonneville SSEI, but wasn't confident the transmission could be repaired to like new. Mike did such a great job explaining what was going on with my transmission, it gave me a lot of confidence to go ahead with the repair. The car is running great. A lot of shops are dishonest and don't explain much but when I bought my new Kia and it had issues with a transmission leak he worked with me and the dealership to get me an entirely new transmission. Fast friendly service. Mike got my car in explained what had happened, and a quote to make needed repairs. My 2007 Hummer H2 transmission was shot and needed rebuilt.
