I started out going here a few years ago, but it's turned around, since this past summer 2014. Asking the question "is this referral going to cost me" isn't enough. You have to call both dentist and then probably even call your insurance. Because I did ask, and was told it was just an evaluation for a referral, but then a few week later a huge charge. EDIT* - Northgate Smiles has been a great Dentist since, and I've gone back 2 more times. Just double check with your insurance on any procedures. read more

I have been using this dentist for about two years now and I have been very happy with their service. They take all necessary steps to make your comfortable while receiving dental work. Their office includes tvs at every chair and private rooms with their own walls to separate patients. The staff is very on top of reminding you about your appointments and the dentist is very informative and good. read more

I am writing this review because this morning I had my last-ever appointment with Northgate Smiles. I am moving to a different city and am sad to leave Dr. Aylen and her team! Between her, her assistant Monique, and the friendly front desk staff, I always felt my needs were met and I was treated with compassion and respect. They always took care to handle my payments and insurance with no surprises or issues. My teeth have always been very decay-prone (I require at least a few fillings if not multiple root canals each year), so sometimes my needs were urgent. I've been to many dentists over the years and Dr. Aylen is definitely one of the best and most efficient operators out there. The staff is friendly and organized. I went there for many visits so far ranging from minor cleaning to major crowns. It has always been a delight. Dr. aylen is very good at explaining the procedure and what it entails. My husband, my four-year old son and I all have the pleasure of being patients of Dr. Aylen. She and her staff are always prompt, extremely friendly, and efficient. I have never had to wait more than a minute or two to be seen. My son always gets the royal treatment when he comes, and it has made his dental experiences so fun. first of all it was tough for me to transfer care since i really liked my previous dentist but had to find a new one that is closer to my house.When my dental insurance emailed me the lists of all dentists around my area i had to google each one of the them and dr Aylen had the best review online. I've been going here for over 5 years now based on a friend's recommendation, and now I can pass on my recommendation to you! Dr Aylen is very good at what she does - very straightforward, confident and personable, and the whole office is super nice. This was a nice office with friendly staff, but I chose not to continue with them after my first visit. I have seen a dentist 2x a year for 20 years and had no cavities. At my first visit I was told I had 7 cavities that needed to be addressed. This was really suspect and I raised the issue with the office. I received a call back from the lead (?) dentist who told me that upon reviewing my xrays, it looked like I really had 1 cavity. The whole experience didn't engender a lot of trust so I have found another dentist. read more

My husband and I have been going to Northgate Smiles for the last two years. We have had check ups and fillings and have been very pleased with not only the work, but the cost and the welcoming atmosphere of Northgate Smiles. The initial exams were very extensive and we were able to see xrays on the screen above our dental chair as Dr. Aylen reviewed plans of attack for problem areas. I felt welcomed to ask questions and make choices about my dental care and not just told what to do. The nurses were very gentle, thorough and personable. Firstly - in the interest of transparency I would like to say that Northgate Smiles gives a very nice incentive for their clients to leave reviews. This is also why there are so many reviews for their clinic. Regardless, my review is 100% honest. I have always had a great experience with Northgate Smiles. The receptionists, the hygienists, and the dentists are all very welcoming and willing to take time to explain things to you. The receptionists have on multiple times walked me through my bill line by line. On one occasion they went through a great deal of effort and even called my previous dentist to find out about a previous filling that was making my current bill high. In collaboration with the dentist they were able to make some changes that saved me some money (fantastic!). The hygienist took the time to explain to me exactly what she was doing and gave me great pointers on how to care for my teeth better. Dr. Aylen explained to me at what point cavities were reversible to help me understand why my fillings were necessary. I really appreciate when my providers are willing to put in the time to actually explain things to me and I feel the entire staff at Northgate Smiles does so and does so consistently. They are very easy to schedule appointments with and utilize multiple ways of reminding you of your appointment. I was even given a Starbucks gift card for being accommodating and coming in early for my appointment. Some other 'amenities' that I appreciate is the keurig machine in the lobby for those waiting and the best part is the cable television. There is one in front of each chair that has cable television where they give you the remote and headphones so that you may watch it during your procedure. The only negative feedback I have is that it appears that the dentists bounce around from patient to patient. I have had to wait in the dentist's chair in the middle of my appointment for the dentist to return on several occasions. Regardless, because of the excellent customer service I have received otherwise, I will be returning to Northgate Smiles and recommend that others do as well. read more

This is hands down the best dentist I've ever been to. I got my impacted wisdom teeth removed and was awake for the procedure. Considering how difficult they were to remove, I was shocked at how smooth and painless everything was. Dr. Aylen and Monique were so caring, efficient, and friendly. Not impressed with this place...after several years of very consistent dental care and no dental issues, we relocated to Seattle and based on reviews, we selected Northgate Smiles. Somehow, we both left our 6-month cleaning appts with 4 recommended follow-up procedures - fillings and such. Neither of us had any teeth complaints so it just didn't feel right, like they were eager for the additional procedures/money. Also, as an aside, not the most comfy place for non-traditional families - we had some forced/awkward conversation with our hygienist who was trying to be inclusive but was clearly a little uncomfortable/unfamiliar with "alternative" lifestyles. read more

Their staff are very friendly! Monique and Linda are the best. They made sure that I was comfortable.

I am one to get really anxious before getting teeth pulled or even getting fillings filled. Dr Aylen and her associate did a great job. The first time I went in was to get my wisdom teeth pulled. Got all four pulled at the same time, but had as good of an experience as you can have getting your teeth pulled. Just got some fillings filled too and the dental assistants were awesome. They were accommodating to my sensitive gag reflex and even made a note of it so next time I am comfortable, too. All the ladies there are friendly and lovely. Even the front office ladies. This office is 30 minutes from my house, but I can't imagine going anywhere else. read more

Hands down the best experience I've ever had at a dentist office (including all of the younger years with free toys and video games). Scheduling my first visit was painless and was able to fill out all paperwork before coming in. When I arrived, Kayla, Linda, and Dr. Aylen were all very welcoming and friendly. During the cleaning, there was not a single "ooh" or lecture, only great conversation and helpful advice. After the cleaning, I had a complex insurance coverage situation with a primary/secondary insurer. Kayla went out of her way to call my secondary insurer to figure out their approach to covering the remainder. She then gave me a call back within the hour to talk through the projected out-of-pocket costs and my options. I highly recommend this office to anyone in the Seattle area. read more
