0 Stars. Can no longer eat or drink normally on one side of my mouth because of Northgate Smiles...PLEASE read the other 1 star reviews because something similar happened to me. Telling someone you have around 10 cavities, depending on which doctor you talk to there, when you have no cavities(it's terrible even if they say you have 1 cavity and you don't have any) and then drilling into your teeth...I'm assuming for money. Besides the Bible, even my common sense tells me that is very wrong. Is money so important that you(Northgate Smiles) would injure others for it? This will affect a person for the rest of their life causing terrible problems that wouldn't have been there...I hope this does not happen to anyone else since it is VERY painful and I'm only writing this review so it doesn't happen to anyone else. I urge you to read the other 1 star reviews mixed in with 5 star reviews if you want to hear similar accounts. The staff tries to "charm" you with coffee and movie tickets to get you to come in. Is this a plus or a trap? I suffered quietly but I remembered there are other people out there who could be injured. Certain individuals at Northgate Smiles you deserve rebuke. For what ever reason you are doing this it is not right to do this to your patients and not worth the extra pocket money. I will not do anything against you, but may God in heaven decide what to do with you. And for the people working there who were not involved, don't get tied up with these people and get corrupted! People on Yelp, I earnestly ask you to learn from me and stay away from these types of people! read more

I have been a patient of this office for nearly a year. I originally heard about the office from an online review who stated that the dentists were the best that they had ever been to. I hadn't been to the dentist for awhile and decided to give them a try. I needed to get my wisdom teeth taken out. The office staff were very friendly from the time I entered the office. The hygenist who took me back for my appointment put me at ease and was very attentive to my needs. Dr Aylen was very professional but had an amazing bedside manner. She made sure I was not in any pain and made sure to explain all of the procedures to me. The hygenists and dental assistants were amazing at making me feel comfortable and taken care of. Dr Aylen even called me that night at home to be sure I was doing okay and to see if I had any other questions. I have been to this office several times since then for a cleaning and to do some other minor work. For the cleaning and minor work, I saw Dr. Aluas. She was also very easy to talk with and very professional. She was very knowledgeable and made sure that I understood the procedures and the treatment plan. The office is very up to date with digital xrays, cable TV at each patient chair, and special cameras so the dentists can show patients what needs to be done at a close view. The front desk team make sure to work with you regarding your financial situation and your insurance. I would highly recommend this office to anyone needing a dental cleaning, wisdom teeth extraction or any other dental work. read more

Horrible dental office! My most recent visit was very uncomfortable and I left resenting this place again. Tammy is so stuck up and obviously holds herself higher than anyone else. I'm stuck with this place due to my insurance but I am now changing insurance plans to not have to deal with this dental office. Dr Aylen is so fake and patronizing! The tension between her and her staff is such a heavy weight for myself as a patient to carry, on top of my own anxiety of dental offices. In the last couple years of being a patient here, I have overheard her mean and sarcastic comments about other patients while I'm sitting in the waiting room and can only assume she talks the same way about me. I've overheard her staff venting to each other and even heard one girl sobbing saying she 'couldn't take Karla's cruelty anymore'. How awful! Dr Aylen does smile a lot to your face but just know she is putting you down when you aren't there and other patients are hearing nasty things about you. Dr Aluas is much nicer and seemed more genuine, but treated me like a drug abuser when my filling turned into an unexpected root canal and I requested something stronger than the ibuprofen I had already been taking for days. Save yourself the embarrassment of being talked badly about in front of other patients, treated like a drug seeker and feeling the overwhelming tension between her and her staff. It's apparent through their vibes that she is a difficult person to interact with. read more

I'm one of those people who skip flossing for a day and get bleeding and an instant cavity. It's beyond lame, but it's the luck of a disappointing genetic draw. After a reluctant switch from my childhood dentist after 25 years, (and several horror stories in between), I know I had to stop the 90 minute round trip and find a competent dentist near home. When I found Dr. Karla Aylen I found a dentist for life. She is both an amazing dentist and an amazing person. Kind, funny, sweet, and skilled. I have sensitive teeth, an odd bite, and many "watch areas". Dr. Aylen has *never* pushed a service on me I didn't need, rather she is both cautious and proactive when problems develop. She is the ideal dentist for those of us who are afraid of the needle (I've never felt more than a prick before fillings and a root canal) and afraid of being criticized, quite frankly! She doesn't blame me for my genetics, nor does she treat me like a dental "freak" for my tendency toward decay. I had a few horrible experiences when I tried new dentists, and let's just say my anxiety has never been so low! Her staff are lovely, efficient and honest. Her prices are competitive and her payment plans generous Dentists are not cheap, people. Their overhead is extraordinarily high. Let's focus on the joys of excellent dental care in a developed country! Book an appointment today. read more

I'd like to start with Linda Schuh, She's a marvel! She has helped my significant other and myself get affordable dental insurance at an affordable price. She is a hard worker and gets the job done, no matter how big the job! I recommended her to my significant other as well as my daughter. I feel that we are safe in saying that we trust her with our information as we've only talked over the phone. It's not everyday we give out our personal information over the phone, I took a chance and I'm really happy with out come. I would recommend her to anyone that can't afford to pay the up front costs of Dental insurance and deductables. She worked her magic and we're very happy with the results. While I'm here, I have to recognize Dr. Lu, she is the most gentle dentist I've ever come across. She cares about her patients being comfortable and will stop at any sign of pain it is causing, she's a dental angel in my eyes. Like so many people, I've had horrific experiences with dentist and that's the reason I needed so much work done, I didn't want to go through it again, until now... Linda and Dr. Lu saved me, seriously, I can't thank them enough! I will keep coming back and all anxiety about dentistry is history! Thank you so much for having my back, both of you! Dr Aylen gave a superb effort in my 1st visit with her . With x-rays and digital images, she gave me my best ever comprehensive exam I believe I have ever had. I wish I found her years ago! She took time and was very thorough to explain all the work I needed (4 crowns and 4 fillings) and answered my questions with concern and sensitivity. She and her staff were very pleasant and friendly and made me feel like I had been a patient there all my life. I committed to her treatment plan with ease believing that I am in capable hands with her and her associates there at NorthGate Smiles. I have little anxiety sitting in her chair knowing I am in such good hands. As well, Dr Aluas and D.H. Leah was super too. Both were very personal, attentive to my needs, pleasant to talk with and handled their tasks with efficiency and obvious experience and knowledge. I feel I am in very good hands at NorthGate Smiles and it good to find a dentist office I firmly believe I will have on my health-care team for a long, long time! read more

I have been seeing Dr. Aylen at Northgate Smiles for a couple of years now, and I couldn't be more pleased! Previous dental offices have told me my teeth are cracked from grinding and that I should consider getting veneers. At Northgate Smiles they let me know my teeth are just fine, although a little worn down from grinding, so I should consider a mouth guard - quite different from the price of veneers! When I first went to see Dr. Aylen, I needed an implant (crown), and it turned out my post is not a standard one, so needed a particular setting. She notified the lab making the implant about the non-standard post and arranged someone from the lab to come up during my exam to take a look. After my appointment I went down stairs to get the final details worked out. It made everything so easy for me. And finally, my dental hygienist Cindy is fantastic! She's very easy to talk to and makes my cleaning seem to last no time at all, and my teeth feel great when she's done. I highly recommend Northgate Smiles! read more

I have an extreme fear of the dentist and had put off my annual appointment for two years. My previous dentist had retired so I had to find a new place to go and had additional anxiety due to change as well. All of my previous anxiety disappeared as soon as I walked into the office. The ladies at the desk were extremely kind. As soon as my dental hygienist came to retrieve me I knew that my visit was going to be pleasant. She was SO amazing and knew exactly what to say to help me feel at ease and calm. She was totally engaged and beyond nice. My time with her was so positive that I have decided to stop taking my kids to their pediatric dentist and start taking them to Northgate Smiles. Dr. Aylen was very professional and warm. Often, I feel intimidated my dentists and doctors but not once did I feel uncomfortable or nervous. Overall, my experience at Northgate Smiles was positive and as enjoyable as going to the dentist could be. read more

From the moment I walked into Dr. Aylen's beautiful and exceptionally spotless office I was impressed. My Children played with the toys in the toy box while I enjoyed a lovely cup of coffee. The front desk staff were so polite and accommodating. I was called back on time. As for the dental care, it was the most professional I have ever experienced. Dr Aylens' office is up to date with all the latest technology. The work I had was quite involved and completely painless. Dr. Aylen explained everything to me in terms that I could understand. The staff really made me feel at ease as I don't like going to the dentist. However I will be happy to return to this office anytime and I will definitely recommend Dr. Aylen to all my friends. Thank you Northgate Smiles for a wonderful experience. read more

Simply the best dentist I have ever worked with. Dr. Aylen and her front office staff is absolutely delightful to chat with, my questions are always answered and I ALWAYS feel as though they have my best interests in mind. I've been a patient for well over 4 years and can't imagine ever being seen by anyone else. I've been seen for routine cleanings and X-Rays as well as minor procedures, Invisalign, and teeth whitening. I love them so much that I've referred roughly 8 of my co-workers and friends who all agree that Dr. Aylen and her team of dental professionals are amazing! **I was surprised to read some of the reviews left by others who we're not RAVING about how great a place Northgate Smiles is and how amazing the entire staff is there. I would highly recommend to all! :) read more

I am very pleased with the well coordinated care I receive from Northgate smiles. Dr. Aylen has such a positive outlook and a deft touch that I often forget that I am about to sit in a chair with my mouth wide for ~hour. I am lucky enough to have minimal dental issues, so the majority of my time is spent with Linda, a hygienist. To be completely candid, Linda is the most skillful hygienist that I have ever seen. She is gentle yet effective, highly efficient, and committed to excellence. She often will spend extra time on my cleaning at the expense of her lunch hour or on-time departure in order to polish my stubbornly stain prone teeth. Linda truly is an incredible asset to the office. If you are seeking a dentist and/or hygienist look no further. read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Aylen and her staff. Dr. Aylen is friendly, kind and gentle. She really cares about her patients, explaining everything in detail, and even calling to check on you after a major procedure. She is also great at anesthetic injections! The worst part of the dentist for me has always been the novocain injections. Ouch! Dr. Aylen is gentle and fast, minimizing the normal discomfort of these injections. Tammy, the hygienist, is friendly and funny. She tells great stories that make my cleaning appointments fly by. Dr. Aylen's office staff is genuinely friendly and helpful. They always greet me by name when I walk in the door. I would recommend Dr. Aylen to anyone looking for a kind and competent dentist! read more

I am a fan! I love going to the dentist now! Dr. Karla Aylen and her staff are truly attentive, kind and friendly. I like the professional yet warm attention I recieve from the minute I cross the threshold. My treatment plan is clear to me and I am happy to recieve helpful information, in a positive manner. It feels like we are working together to really make my smile the best it can be. My husband and son also go to Northgate Smiles and it is equally good for them, they leave happy and cared for. My son is 6 and it has been a great experience for him because of the friendly treatment and Dr. Aylen's humor and patience. Never had any problem with billing or insurance, smooth operation all around. I recommend. read more

Sea foam green carpets, blue and beige suede chairs. Soothing lighting and soft tones. I did not realize going to the dentist could feel as though I just arrived at a spa for the day. I had the most wonderful experience at this particular dentist office. Being a new patient, I had no idea what to expect. From the time I entered the office, I was greeted with a warm welcome by name. You are offered bottles of water, tea, and coffee. The reception staff is prompt and quite kind as well as the hygienist. Conversation flowed in between my cleaning and x-rays. I am surprised to say I actually had fun at the dentist office. I look forward to returning for any necessary work. Dr. Aylen was amazing and well worth the visit. read more

I recently moved to Washington from Kansas and needed some dental work done shortly after getting here. I was referred to Dr. Aylen at Northgate Smiles from a coworker. I had been putting the work off for a while now due to a bad experience with my precious Dentist. I was extremely pleased with my experience and care I was shown. My hygienist LeaAnn was patient with me, took time explaining the procedure, and was gentle but thorough. I have had my teeth worked on by Dr. Aluas and Dr. Aylen and have recommended and referred them to my closest family and friends whether it's for a simple cleaning or more extensive dental work. Great staff, clean and modern offices, and good work! Thank you Northgate Smiles. read more

My wife and I have been going here for a few years now and it is the best practice we have ever been to. Dr. Aylen and Dr. Aluas have both worked on my teeth and I would recommend them both. I have had my biannual cleanings, wisdom teeth removed, a crown and a couple fillings done here and the Dr.'s and their staff were great through each procedure. After my wisdom teeth were removed I had dry sockets that started late on a friday night which were very painful. I called the office that night and Dr. Aylen came in early Saturday morning on her day off to give me the medication/dressing necessary. There was no extra charge for this service and Dr. Aylen was very kind and helpful. read more

There are a couple of complaints about pricing on here that I want to address. Dental work pricing here is competitive with others in the area, and I cannot stress how impressed I have been with Dr. Aylen's work. From an emergency wisdom tooth removal to simple fillings, she has been great! The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. The entire process goes at your pace, showing you which teeth are most important to get done, while focusing on utilizing your insurance most efficiently as well. You have total control over which procedures you'd like to be done first. I avoided going to the dentist for a long time, but I love going now! read more

We have established dental care with several dental offices from coast to coast, and now that we are living in Seattle I have to say, Northgate Smiles is the best for dental treatment, professional care, feeling welcome, benefits explanation, and office environment. Anytime we come in for an appointment we receive premier dental care, they go to great lengths to explain procedures and costs, and ensure you feel comfortable during the entire procedure. The office is classy and is technology-wise superior. I feel fortunate to have Dr. Karla Aylen and the Northgate Smiles Dental Team taking care of our dental needs. read more

I am one of Dr. Aylen's original patient since she went into practice. She and the other dentists and staff through the years have provided the best dental care I have ever had in my 80+ years. The actual dentistry is done in the most modern ways with concern shown for the patient and any fears they have about the given procedures. The surroundings are pleasant and the staff is available to listen to you and make sure your appointment is a pleasant experience. Mine have always been!
