I've been going to North Seattle Dental for about 10 years now, and I honestly can't say enough good things about them. The entire staff is professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. From Emily to Gwen, and Lisa (who I haven't seen in a while), they always make you feel comfortable and put a smile on your face. Dr. Pickel consistently goes above and beyond for his patients. It's no surprise he's often recognized by his peers--he truly cares and always has your best interest in mind. He's honest, thoughtful, and takes the time to walk you through the best options. I'm giving this dentist a mixed review and this is why. Dr. Worstman was overall pretty great. She was kind and genuinely seems to care about her patients. She performed fillers on three of my teeth and they turned out great. As someone who's had some pretty traumatic dential procedures done, she at least made me feel at ease with that. Now, for the negative review. I give 1 star for both the billing and her assistant. I've had teeth impressions done multiple times over the years and I would say this was hands down THE WORST experience I've ever had. The solution went down my throat and I literally felt like I was choking for 5 minutes. The assistant did not make me feel comfortable and was extremely dismissive of how I felt. I called the offices after that appointment to explain what happened, they didn't care. It was clear. I had to remind them 15 minutes before my teeth impression appointment what happened, and they had conveniently "forgotten" I had requested another assistant. When I met with the doctor for the impressions, of course, they didn't fit. The awkward part was the doctor tried to force the retainers in my mouth as it worked for me and that was very off-putting. Overall, a pretty negative experience except with the filler procedure. I won't be returning here again. Scheduling a new appointment with Seattle Dental Co, and they are able to do teeth impressions digitally so I don't have to go through that god awful teeth impression experience again! Fingers crossed it'll be a better experience because so far it already has been communicating with their office staff. read more

Brandy(i) and Lynn at the front are always helpful and offer to check my insurance coverage before any decisions are make. I also just like them as human beings and I feel that's worth mentioning as well. :) Dr. Worstman is simply the best. She's honest about what's needed and what's not. I ground my teeth down over the years and Dr. Worstman made my teeth look like new with a little composite and TLC! Visited North Seattle Dental for the first time to have my teeth whitened. Although it wasn't painful, it can be awkward. Gwen, who did the procedure, is amazing. Her bedside manner is impeccable. Prior to starting, she explained in detail what to expect. She offered me a blanket and a pillow, which I gladly accepted. I took about 2 hours and the results are amazing. Vivienne, the intern who shadowed Gwen was lovely. She'll make a wonderful dentist in the future. Overall, I felt a good vibe there. The staff is very friendly and cohesive. Avoid this dental office! their interest is strictly profit and "not" treating patients. clearly this office and DR.WORSTMAN is putting their own financial interest ahead of a patients best interest. they will drain your insurance with unnecessary work . when i finally caught on to it i asked for an "itemized bill" and for dental records to get a second opinion on work they wanted to do. the front desk lady was very rude and denied me these papers. even after i explained under WAC 246-817-310 that we as patients have a right to get our own dental records , they cannot deny me these papers . i even signed the waiver to obtain these records and she inappropriately held the papers in my face as to give them to me then pulled them back and asked me to leave their office. clearly they are guilty of something and don't want me to see those records or even an itemized bill of my services! so i have contacted the D.O.H (department of health) and the WA board of dentistry for this matter...this dental office is currently under investigation for this issue. and yet still choose to not surrender my dental records! read more

I was one of those guys who had the same dentist for the first 20 years of my life before I went off to college and then had to find a new one when I moved to Seattle. The biggest question was "How do you even find a new dentist?" It's not like finding a new Thai restaurant and trying their phad thai to see if you like it. Well, I asked around among my friends and someone recommended Dr. Pickel at North Seattle Dental. Five years later and I couldn't be happier. I've seen him for everything from the standard six month cleanings to cosmetic work on a front tooth to Invisalign trays to resolve an old bite issue that I had from braces during my teenage years. Everything has been top-notch. Dr. Pickel is professional and friendly and, most importantly, a great dentist. His office is always well kept and his staff is great. Dr.Leah Worstman and her staff are wonderful. I had a pretty traumatic dental cleaning a few years ago and was very cautious about being back in the dentist's chair. The staff at North Seattle Dental made me feel right at ease. The dental assistants I've dealt with are all very personable and professional. But, really, the clincher was the cleaning. I forget the hygenist's name, but the cleaning was gentle and thorough. What a major difference! Clean teeth, fresh breath. I'm ready world! I have already made my follow-up appointment for my next cleaning. Also the facility is very state of the art. I was very intrigued with the photoshoot they did of my teeth. I mean, how cool is that? To be able to see macro shots of my teeth. It really made the consultation make sense. And I HATE to admit this, but I need a lot of work done. What can I say? Sugary sweet stuff + coffee + wine with a slacker attitude toward flossing makes me a dentist's dream patient. But, I feel more comfortable now that I can get the work I need done in the capable hands of Dr. Worstmann. The location off Meridien Ave and Northgate Way is very convenient. I can walk here, but if I were to drive here, it's nice there is ample parking. The waiting room large and inviting with serve yourself tea/water/coffee and a fish tank. I have never had to wait very long for my appointments, but if I were to come early, at least I can enjoy the wait. read more

I've been going to see Dr. Worstman for about 12 years now. I started going to North Seattle Dental after many recommendations. I'm rating 4 stars instead of 5 simply because I live in Bellevue now so getting there isn't as convenient as I would like. But the fact that I'm willing to go out of my way to stay with North Seattle is also a testament to how much I like going there. I've never had any major dental issues, so I don't have much to say in the way of more 'demanding' procedures. As others may already be stating, the office is very 'up-to-date' with current equipment and technology. One of the first things that struck me when they switched to the new office space was being able to view the x-rays almost immediately after being taken (thought that was neat). Each chair has a personal TV with Comcast digital cable and the remote to use at your pleasure. Dr. Worstman is the best, man! I have been going to North Seattle for about 2.5 years now, and every experience is enjoyable. My hygienist is wonderful (of course I would forget her name...Carol maybe?), and Dr. Worstman is top notch. I work two full time jobs, so I am fully covered by two insurances. Unfortunately, NSD is out of network for both of my plans, however I continue to go and pay out of pocket. It's worth it. Oh and being able to watch ESPN while getting work done is a plus. :) read more

The clinical staff at North Seattle Dental is good. Dr. Worstman is very nice and very competent. The issues I have with the office is with their billing practices. They always send me billing statements for the full cost of procedures/appointment even though they also bill my insurance. I've had to call on a couple occasions to make sure I did not have late payments. It is also stressful to receive a bill over $200 after a routine teeth cleaning. We had some cavities filled a few months ago and the office told my wife she had to pay $290 before she left. When I called the office to ask why they told me it was just their policy and it was because they didn't know if or when the insurance would send a payment. We have Delta Dental, which is a pretty common dental insurance agency in Seattle. Forcing my wife to make that payment then required us to submit a separate claim to insurance on our own. I had my routine teeth cleaning last month, which has always been free with my insurance, but today I received a statement saying I have $36 in over due payments. It is sad that I won't be seeing Dr. Worstman again, but I will not be back to this office. read more

While I find that Dr. Worstman was good and the staff friendly, I did not feel North Seattle Dental handled my insurance well. My insurance is independent of any PPO's and North Seattle's rates are much more expensive than most Usual and Customary amounts. Be ready for a surprise when it comes time to pay unless you're on their preferred provider network. When I phoned to ask about it, the billing person told me you get what you pay for - in this case a $216 exam and cleaning. read more

I LOVE Dr. Worstman! I have hated the dentist for as long as I can remember and since becoming old enough to not be forced to go by my folks, have avoided them as much as possible. I have horror stories, but not with Dr. Worstman! A friend recommended I go see her. It was the first time IN MY LIFE I have went to the dentist and had NO PAIN! Barb was my hygienist who also was amazing. No pain during the cleaning, no pain during the x-rays. I was amazed. I had cavities and had to go get fillings. PAIN FREE! Even when they give you the numbing stuff with a needle it didn't hurt! How is that possible?! The office has tv's above the chairs that you can watch while they do their stuff too, so that is nice, something to focus on other than the ceiling. After the initial visit and exam Dr. Worstman has you come back in for a meeting where she goes over all your x-rays and shows you whats going on and explains what happening in your mouth. And explains about the cost of treatment. Amazing! She even had an answer for me for why I always have cavities and a solution to stop them. (Side note, when I went back for my 6 month cleaning, no cavities! 1st time ever in my life!) Her office staff is super too. I have a crazy schedule and they were awesome about working with me. Tina especially was super great. Needless to say I will be coming back to her for forever. I am so happy to have found a pain free dentist. Please go see her if you also are a hater of going to the dentist. You can thank me later. Oh, and ask for the cookie dough toothpaste for your cleaning. :-) And 1 other thing: I had crazy jaw surgery when I was 15 and have 2 steel plates in my mouth. Usually a dentist never notices the scars inside my mouth, or asks about them, rather they are super shocked by the x-ray and shout "Whoa! What's that?" Not Dr. Worstman, she noticed right away that something was up in my mouth and asked why I'd had surgery. Again, amazing. She is the only one ever to have noticed, asked, and knew what was going on. read more

Not a patient, but wanted to tell my experience with this office. I had some fillings done by another dentist. Had them adjusted, but was still having some pain about three weeks later. My dentist was still saying normal. I called this office to get a second opinion. They spent about ten minutes on the phone, made me feel listened to and reassured me that my other dentist was correct and still having some pain was normal. Very highly recommended! I've been a patient of Dr. Chris Pickel for over 20 years, and I highly recommend his practice and facilities. All of the staff is considerate, caring, and they explain any dental issues and how soon something would need further attention. Once in the dentist's chair, I receive sunglasses (shades my eyes from the bright overhead lights), and the option to watch TV or listen to music during the appointment. The staff often has shown X-rays and close up photos to point out an issue area. I do well with Novocaine for dental work, and I appreciate that Dr. Pickel uses a local (topical) anesthesia before injecting the Novocaine. I love the "touch of spa" steamed wash cloth, presented after teeth cleaning or a dental procedure. The office building is easy to find from either I-5 or Aurora Ave N (US 99). It has plenty of parking - both outside and underground (out of the weather). The North Seattle Dental office waiting area has a children's play area, coffee & tea, and a relaxed atmosphere. I previously had been fairly hesitant about going to the dentist due to my experiences in the past and the fear of the drill.
