I have to say, out of all the Northgate locations I've visited, this one is top tier. The only thing it's missing is the margarita bar like the one at the Costa Mesa location. That said, the butchery and seafood sections consistently have some of the freshest cuts and the most helpful attendants. The produce selection is also outstanding, both high quality and expansive. On top of that, the staff here is always kind and welcoming. This evening, though, Sipriana A. at the food section is what really inspired me to leave this review. After a long work week and a very lazy Friday night, she made some tacos for me and the smell alone was phenomenal. The tripas tacos were top notch, and I'm very picky about them. I like them a little crispy, and these were exactly right. Beyond the great food, Sipriana herself was a total vibe. After a long week, her energy was such a mood booster. Great Mexican Market! But they have everything a traditional market has and more! This is my go to when I make traditional dishes like tamales, enchiladas, carne asada, etc. I used to go to multiple places to get the best ingredients but now I can get everything here. I also love that they have a hot bar, bakery, fresh cheese, fresh tortillas, great butcher, and rotisserie style chicken and carnitas. Sometimes we go there just for the Tortas and the Agua fresca, all the flavors are great but my new favorite is passion fruit. read more

I just recently started to do some shopping at the Northgate Market and find that it's a great market. They have outstanding Mexican food and products. I have to be careful not to go there when I'm too hungry, because I go bonkers buying their food. They have a huge, wonderful bakery (my favorite). The people who work at Northgate are very kind and professional. Their prices are very reasonable. They have a wonderful tamale stand with several great flavors of tamales. I wanted to give Northgate pronto a try since all of the other grocery stores seem to be getting pushed out of my area. I've been ordering from this location about every Sunday for the last month or so. I enjoy being able to place an order and picking it up. However out of all the times I've gone. I've only been able to park in the designated spots once or twice out of luck. There's always cars parked there that are in the store shopping. All of the other grocery stores make sure those spots are used properly . I'll wait to give the new location in La Mirada a try. read more

I love this northgate market. There are not too many Mexican markets near my house but luckily this one is right down the street and they never disappoint. Their pan dulces are always freshly baked and they have a large selection of meats that you won't find at other markets. They also make hot tortillas and package them there at the store, you can buy them while they're hot! And the restrooms are very clean! All the employees there are very friendly and more than willing to help you if you have a question. I will continue coming here. read more

I came in on August 2nd to get my husband a tres leches cake for his birthday. We would get our tres leches cake from here all the time when we bought them because they were so good and moist. I came in and they no longer put any writing on the cakes for you, which is fine but the ladies behind the counter don't have to be rude about it. "To be fair, the word "conch" comes from the Latin word "conchylia," which translates into the English word mollusk. And many people use the term "conch" to refer to any large marine snail. We use to love coming to this Northgate for the hot food especially the tortas but as of lately everything has been really over priced so we haven't been here in two months. Today we came it to treat ourselves and the ladies who made our food were very nice but the girls at the speedy checkout were talking amongst themselves and the cashier Alison was on her phone while ringing me up. She so rude she didn't provide kind customer service she slammed my tortas kinda hard when she was scanning them and she kept a RBF throughout the interaction. Going to leave 1-star reviews in the hopes they address their issues. Went today around 9:30am to get food for the family. There was an issue with the machine that prints the sticker and that held up the line. The gentleman in front of me already has his food but couldn't get it due to the paper roll being replaced. I was next and they made my food. At least one of the burritos ordered was not rolled right, but that's okay. There was about 4 people behind me with only 2 women making the food. In other words, there was a rush with only two people making food. You would think there would be a process in place that when there's a rush, others will help by adding the condiments to the food and wrapping it, while the others focused on warming the tortillas or toasting the tortas, but no. No process in place. To add more to the delay, the gentleman ahead of me was entitled to get a free drink. There was no one in the drinks station readily available. They needed to call her. She was working on something else. Improve your customer service. Have a contingency plan for when the printer is not available to print the price sticker. Maybe write a code on the blank sticker so the employee on the register can punch in and charge it. Sometimes when I'm there it feels like employees are not willing to collaborate and help each other. All of this starts at the top. Implement some employee recognition programs and make your employees feel valued. You will then see how your customer service improves as well as your ratings. My wife want a cheesecake from Northgate for Mother's Day. I went today to by all needed including the cheesecake. I went to the bakery to select the cake and was given I piece of paper to pay at the register. What a joke! After paying, I left my unattended cart in the front of the store and had to find a way through the rails . Once I picked up the cake ( they did not look at the receipt) I had to find a line to try to get back to my cart, what a poor setup! I told the manager and she said that those were the rules. Anyone can go back there and show any receipt to get a cake? There is ZERO validation on their process. They should put a register at the bakery to solve this issue. it's SIMPLE COMMON SENSE! read more
