Their deli also seemed bigger. I always appreciate their fresh hot bolillos. I think after my most recent visit, I prefer to come here better than the food 4 less. The area looked filthy and the food looked like it had been sitting out for hours (it was all crusted over) but for some reason we decided to give it a try.. I frequent the northgate in la habra but decided to stop by this location as it is closer to home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's newly renovated inside and everything feels clean and new.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This market is significantly smaller than the La habra location and the produce doesn't seem as fresh. Number calling system at meat dept needs to be fixed. Barely yelling numbers isn't going to cut it when there's a big crowd of people waiting. Please use the mic and the digital number display. Their marinated al pastor was cut way too big and way too salty, almost inedible. Meat was cut into half inch chunks, how is that suitable for tacos? Don't know if it was just an off day but I'm not willing to take that risk again. I used to come to this Northgate all the time with my mom when I was younger. I hadn't shopped here in awhile but recently went in with my husband to buy ingredients to make tamales and buy our regular weekly groceries. The market is clean and fully stocked. They have the best produce section! Employees are very friendly and provide great customer service. Since we were there early in the morning, we made sure to grab some fresh bollilos...so delicious! Torta bread had a hair, this is so disgusting when I bit into it I felt the hair and I tried to pull it out, I couldn't it was stuck inside the bread. This Northgate doesn't care about selling clean food to their customers. I seen the kitchen lady blow her nose right in front of the food mid pandemic when covid was at its all time highest. The carniceria once gave me pink paper in my meat I didn't notice it till I started cooking it because the meat turned brown and the pieces of paper stayed pink. First off, let me start by expressing how much I love Northgate markets. When I heard there was a new one that was a similar experience to Costa Mesa, I couldn't wait to check it out. It was Super Bowl Sunday so I knew I wanted to arrive as soon as they opened to beat the crowd. What a mistake!! Nothing was ready. I had the wait 30 minutes for the taco meat tray. Most of that time was watching her attempt to wrap the tray. Every other section was just putting out their items when I walked out at 8am. I didn't even get fresh tortillas. Overall, their selection is limited. I would rather drive to Long Beach or Costa Mesa. If you open at 7am, I would think you would ready. Sooo disappointing!! read more

I have only been to Cardenas and Northgate and I can confidently say that Northgate takes the cake. Came here to pick up some ingredients for taco night at our house and I was happy to see how clean and well organized the supermarket is! The produce section is easy to navigate and everything was fresh. I did pick up a watermelon that was wayyy too overpriced ($9!!) and it was unsweet and not ripe enough. That's what I get for buying a watermelon off season though. So besides that, everything else was good and reasonably priced. I especially love their salsas and corn tortillas. My friend recommended Northgate tortillas and man, am I glad I came here! They were hot and fresh when I grabbed them and they were sooo delicious. Service, for the second time shopping at Northgate Market of La Puente on Hacienda Blvd, I leave with a sense of shopping disatisfaction. The cashiers don't appear tho have any idea of what customer service it. In particular with cashier Mrs. Iris Blanco. I went today to do some shopping and upon getting to the checkstand, one can expect to get greated with at least a good morning sir, not hard to do I think, instead you are met with a sense of indifference from this cashier which by the way she is no young person and should know better. What do I hear instead, a casual conversation with another cashier standing in onother checkstand behind me, leaving me feeling as if I did not exist. We as customers provide for their pay check with our hard earned money and we're just being ignored. No have a good day sir, nothing. What is wrong with customer service now in says. Everyone is always nice but this one time when we were about to pay there was only 2 registers open We asked the cashier Graciela if she was open because she wasn't calling us over she was just standing there, when we asked, she ignored us, then I asked again and she was sarcastic and told us do you see the light on? Instead of being friendly she was rude the whole time throwing my items around and also she over charged me one drink that I had to go back in the store with my receipt to confront her and get my money back, she is also a very slow cashier over all , she was talking with coworkers about personal issues that were very unpleasant and that shouldn't be talked at work she made me feel very uncomfortable on top I had to bag my own things. I came in to buy 4 chocolate covered strawberries and walked out with a dozen. 1 chocolate covered strawberry @ $1.49 The worker at the bakery station was very helpful and nice. She let me know that by buying 6 instead of 4 the difference in price was just $1. These strawberries are delicious and a decent size/price. My 5 star review is based on my experience yesterday. I went in at 8pm with my family. While I was in line waiting to pay for my delicious strawberries my husband was off to the side holding my 6 month old and trying to deal with my 3 yr old from having a tantrum. My 6 month old who's in the stage of grabbing everything in sight grabbed one of the plastic containers with candy and spilled it. Omg! ‍‍Super embarrassing for us... within seconds 3 staff came up and began to pick it up. My husband and I tried to help but they were very kind and assured us it was taken care of. My husband tried paying for the item but was told it wasn't necessary. We were so embarrassed and wanted to get out of there quickly. Extra okay. Smells interesting... like a pet shop. We eventually determined that it was likely the papaya by the front - seeing as how it smacked us in the face when we came in - but it only slightly lessened as we were going throughout the store. They had lychee... I was so excited but... they had mold on them. We eventually got some packaged snacks, drinks, and a few apples. Most of the employees that were there seemed not excited to be there. The checkout girl was nice though. I'm grateful there was a place within walking distance of where we were staying for our vacation. However, Yelp says they close at 10:30pm on Saturdays.
