This store has the worse customer service in the world I order a generator from them they call me tell me that it had can in when I get to the store they can't find my paperwork I have my receipt. Then they tell me that m order had been canceled and I ask for my money back they tell me that they are going to give m a generator to come back the next day the next morning they call an state that they no longer carry that generator and that corporate will send me a check 5-7 business days this is so unacceptable I paid cash in the store. Don't buy a warranty. it's a scam. With the warranty they still wanted $200 for a $4 electrical faceplate repair.

I just recently moved to the area. I'm so glad that Memphis has this store. I will be a regular at this store. It's kind of a handy mans store. The only thing presently wrong is all the construction off the Interstate trying to get this store. I missed the exit you take probably 3 times trying to get to this store. It's causing a traffic jam because of this. You can pass by the exit you take before you know it. Not only you can get tools here, but you can get truck accessories of all sorts. They sell truck tool boxes, ATV ramps, ATV tires, and etc. Anyway, the customer service was excellent while checking out. "I will be back". read more

Don't get me wrong, Northern Tool (the company) offers a wonderful and wide range of products to its customers. But this particular store is staffed with employees who obviously have never been taught the crazy notion that happy customers are more likely to spend money with their employer. Northern Tool website displayed their Summer store had ONE (1) item of my interest in stock. This was a several hundred dollar item, so I decided to call and verify that item was in stock. I called, an employee took my item number around 2 minutes into the call. The employee stated she would get back to me. After 20 minutes on being on hold, the call disconnected. So, I called Northern Tool again and spoke with another employee. Same story, employee took down my information and promised to verify the status of the item. I screenshot a photo at the 15 minute mark. This employee returned to the call around the 17 minute mark and said the item I had spent nearly 40 minutes asking about...was...OUT OF STOCK. I asked why their store showed the item in stock, and the employee wasn't sure. Since I had already invested 40 minutes into this endeavor, I decided to round out a full hour of my time. I called 1-800-221-0516and spoke with Rex. I recounted my interactions with the Summer Avenue Northern Tool employees and Rex was accommodating. Rex advised this store's inventory likely had not updated. So, I checked on this "in stock" item a few days later, yep...still out of stock. It's a wild concept, but perhaps Northern Tool employees should treat customers with more interest than they would a festering hemorrhoid. Or maybe they just don't care. Ran an ad starting 11/27/21. went in on the 30th to buy a Skill gas blower. Didn't ha a single one and told by salesperson don't know when the would get any, just come back and check latter. Its a 30 min. drive. Won't go back again for sure. read more

Took husqvarna chainsaw in for repair. Bad feeling from the start. Should have listened to my inner voice and left without dropping off gear. But....dropped off for carburetor cleaning and new chain. Picked up 4 weeks later. Same chain and chainsaw still won't start. $265 and no itemized bill. On the plus side, now I am motivated to fix it myself. read more

This is basically Tim Allen's 'Tool Time' dream. A ton of tires, tools, generators, and other items. The place smells like rubber (hm, wonder why) and the staff is pretty helpful. There's a little bit of everything that you'd use for home improvements. It's a bit of Home Depot mixed with your local hardware store. read more

Have tried to call 3 times by now and have received horrible customer service on 2 of the calls. Have been trying to call looking for a ball valve for my new powerwasher (not knowing what this product was called on the first call, which is why we were not able to find it) and the second time I called, they never got back to me. First I've been vaccinated, second cloth or loose fitting coverings do nothing to stop the spread of airborne aerosol particles - as admitted by fauci, other members of the scientific community and in research studies, and third I have other options to shop. In these days of low customer service and empty store shelves I have to mention what a positive experience I recently had at Northern Tool + Equipment. I walked in, never having been there before, and was immediately greeted by several employees. They seemed to be waiting for customers in order to offer assistance. What?! That almost never happens anymore. Usually I wander for 10 minutes and then look around for someone who might be able to give me directions. The lady I spoke to told me exactly where I needed to go. They had exactly the trailer light I needed. When I reached the front I waited for one customer ahead of me, checked out and was on my way. So refreshing! read more

I stop in at Northern Tool about once a month. They have the best selection of trailer parts available in Memphis. Their tool selection is good especially with welding supplies. They have a repair department in the back for service of their mowers, chainsaws, pressure washers, etc. The employees have always been above average and helpful finding out if the catalogue carries the odd ball items I seem to want. A bad review here talks about service over the phone. All businesses have problems with answering phone in questions. Simple question, no problem. But people ask unending questions about unknown details while the line at the register is getting longer. It helps if the customer tries to understand the other side of the counter. Another review here displays a racial attitude. The Memphis store has lots of employees of all shades. read more

My husband and I went to Northern Tool on Saturday, October 10, 2015 to look at drill bits. Somehow my key fell out of my purse while in the store (or out in the parking lot). When we were leaving and I could not find the key, 5 employees went out of their way to help us try to get in our vehicle to see if the key was maybe in the vehicle (Tyler, Keya, Tim, Marie & Rokesha). They went way above and beyond to try to help us, and you don't normally find that kind of help in Memphis TN (no matter where you are in this city). They have earned our business due to the customer service. read more

I bought a Clean force pressure washer 1800 psi six month first time I use it the hose leak water real bad found out their was a hole in the hose. Call to see if their anything thy could do since i just took it out of the box got it hook up water every ware waiting on call back, form second manager to call. read more

I bought a tarp online to cover my pool. After receiving the tarp I attempted to cover my swimming pool. I discovered that the tarp was a little less than 5ft too short, my mistake. I called in and Northern Tool said they would email me an RMA to return the tarp. After two weeks I had not received an RMA, I called back. After 3 more days I received the RMA. I spent 2 hours folding the tarp nicely to make it fit perfectly back into the box it was shipped to me in. Today I receive an email from Northern Tool that states they will not accept the tarp back as it is not in the plastic wrapping that it was originally shipped to me in. I explained that there was no way to get it back in a clear plastic wrap as that was torn to get the tarp out. They explained to me that the tarp clearly stated its size on the packaging. I told them I understood and that was my fault, not theirs. However they were cold, uncaring, and did not even attempt to help me. Their attitude was that they did not need my business nor did they care if I didn't shop there anymore. I will go elsewhere in the future and I suggest you do to. read more
