I am beyond thrilled to have found this hidden gem of a Physical Therapy office so close to home! Over the past several decades I have gone to a handful of chain/corporate owned Physical Therapy offices which I never quite felt confident going to because I would initially be seen by a Physical Therapist & then be passed on to a PT Aide that didn't really have any formal training other than hands on in the clinic. I would be shown the exercise and then left to do it on my own while they were off helping other clients in between. I had no idea if I was doing the exercises properly. So when a friend suggested that I give North Valley PT a try - I decided to do just that. I am so happy that I took a chance because everyone at the clinic are very experienced, knowledgeable, kind, patient and helpful! They only have Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants working with the clients. They are hands on and it's very personalized care. I love that the office is small - yet they have all the equipment needed to provide quality care and teach the exercises needed for everyone. Jenny who works at the front desk was so helpful and friendly when I first came in. She took the time to answer my questions and made sure that my insurance was accepted there. Aiden also works the front desk and he is equally as nice! Carla & Julia are amazing! Carla is the owner and makes you feel welcome right from the start. Hidden away in an older shopping center, I found a bustling, tidy, healing, haven. Having been referred physical therapy to help with a healing fracture, I was very impressed by the knowledge and attentiveness of my therapist, and really all the staff. Even the front desk. I had a lot of pain in my hip area, neck, and legs. In 5 sessions I have noticed remarkable improvements. My therapist was Julia, and she based her recommendations on my unique physical complaints. She took time to ensure that I was executing the exercises properly and was patient when I had difficulties. She listens. Of course one must be compliant with the "homework" (specific exercises) to get the full benefit, but the actual sessions were so helpful and informative and gave me hope that I could feel better. Coming to North Valley from a different facility in the Los Angeles area has been a totally day and night experience the quality of the CNA is just great the physical therapy is awesome I experience a foot break and caring of the knee cartilager and just after a short while I was back on my feet and walking and I might add The dietitian at North Valley help me with my diet and I've lost over 80 lb I no longer weigh 512 lb . The office staff is great I received packages and a timely fashion if I need anything they're able to work on it and make it happen and not only that the administrator his name is Scott he's the guy you want to meet when you're here along with Monique and all the other fabulous people that work to make this place home too many of the patients here . It would be impossible to accurately express my gratitude to the wonderful Physical Therapists and Staff at NVPT. I got in touch with the proprietor, Carla, before my knee replacement surgery in May. I chose them based on their overall reviews and their ideal location close to my home. They worked hard to confirm that my insurance was in-network, a task that my carrier did not make easy. Once cleared, I began attending sessions just two weeks after my surgery. I observed from the outset that the facility, although compact, was very clean, orderly and kept almost pathologically sanitary. My knee was very badly damaged prior to surgery so my orthopedic surgeon warned me that my recovery might be longer and more complicated than average. He was right. But despite my slow progress, the pro's at NVPT stuck with me. Carla, Julia and Kim and all the interns, each brought various techniques and personal expertise to help me achieve ever increasing flex and extension. My Range of Motion was very slow in progressing and the swelling was, well, epic. Every time I felt I was stuck, there was always a new idea, a different method that they would try in an effort to help. Honestly, there was just no quit in any of them. I am, in general, beyond particular in choosing services especially in terms of healthcare. I was honestly prepared for the fact that it might have taken me two, three or even more Physical Therapy providers before I found one I could live with. They got the job done. But here at North Valley Physical Therapy, they have been so amazing! They go so far above and beyond any other place in my experience! I sustained a injury to my shoulder. The pain was extremely severe and use of my arm was limited. I must confess there was doubt in my mind that any one could help my shoulder. Yes, it looked like surgery would be the answer. However, I was wrong, once I started working with the skilled therapist at North Valley physical therapy, my entire mind set was changed. If you have Medicare and a supplemental insurance this is the place for you. Carla and her staff are great. Effectively relieved my pain, very nice and easy to schedule. Not cheap. $70 charge just to apply kinesiology tape. Now if you have a Ppo like the rest of us plebes your gonna have to deal with her insurance guy Todd. Todd is the rudest, nastiest person I have ever met working in customer service. First he doesn't return calls and when I finally got him to call me back he was hostile and told ME to "call him back when I was feeling better." It was truly amazing anyone in customer service could get away with being that rude. Not only did he have a disgusting mouth, He was also an idiot saying Carla was out of network which I knew was not true. He refused to call my insurance saying I was wrong not him and he wasn't going to waste his time. I got My insurance representative to call him who also mentioned how rude and unpleasant he was to deal with. Carla didn't have much to say either about him. He was so awful that I will not return to this business. I would have given her 5 stars if not for Todd, the rudest, most hateful insurance person working there. I have plenty of ongoing pain too. Just want to start off by saying that I'm very blessed to live around the corner from this place. Back in August of 2015 I hurt my back to the point that in Oct I had a major back surgery. I got the surgery in Hollywood so my doctor referred me to a physical therapy place out in Hollywood. I went once I felt so uncomfortable. As soon as I walked in the receptionist was not only was rude to me but also to my spouse . I won't get in to too much detail but it was a bad experience before I even got to my my therapist. I went there 2more times and just got worst . I'll leave it at that. So let's move to a couple months ago my spouse yelped this place and called .. she told me "hey I spoke to Carla over the phone and she was so nice I think you should give them a try" gave it a couple days and we made an appointment. We show up and we meet kimmy (receptionist) as soon as we walked in it felt totally different from what I had just went thru before she was so helpful and courteous. She made us feel right at home. Then I was told that Carla was on vacation and I was going to be taking care of by someone else. Just sitting there and watching all the staff taking care of patients and really involved with the therapy and being concerned with there patients. My first experience was great I don't remember the lady's name that filled in that day for Carla but she was on par with everyone around her. I made another appointment and finally got to meet Carla!! My spouse was right.. Carla is not only nice but she truly cares to help make your get better .. if your looking for and honest and carrying environment I highly recommend Carla and her staff!! We tried 2 other PT places much nearer to home. I came away calling them "puppy mills"--just rushed people in and out...at NVPT the emphasis is on personal attention and disciplined treatment. Carla, the head therapist, has years of experience and is hands on doing the work to get you to feel better and make it lasting. The support staff is excellent. Phone answered efficiently, booking system solid, and follow up excellent. Everything is clean, up-to-date and state of the art. This is a well thought out business which functions exceptionally well for the benefit of the patient. When you are hurting NVPT is the place to go even if it takes a bit of driving to get there. I was injured about 7 months ago in a skydiving accident. I snapped my left femur in half and shattered my right ankle, and put a small chip in my L5. When I first started going here, about 6 weeks after impact, I was in a wheelchair. I couldn't walk or stand or do much of anything at that point. Carla worked with me on some exercises for my broken femur leg, while we waited for the ankle side to heal a bit (it was several weeks longer before I could get therapy on the ankle). That eventually progressed to more exercises when the muscles started working again, and eventually led to using crutches, and ditching the wheelchair. Before long I got the ok to bear weight on the ankle side, which was a whole new struggle for me. Between Carla and her staff always encouraging and training me, plus the fancy equipment designed to rehabilitate me, things started getting better pretty fast. After less than 5 months I was starting to get back to doing the normal things in life I do, such as vertical wind tunnel training, some hiking, walking my dog, etc. and after less than 6 months I was back in the sky jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. I honestly don't think I could have done it without NVPT, and certainly the friendly vibe I always got from everyone there made it easy and actually fun for me to push on. People always say physical therapy sucks, and is the hardest part of recovery, but in my case I disagree. I really always enjoyed every session, even when I was tired or being lazy I still went and always felt good about it. And truthfully, it didn't hurt as bad as everyone told me it would. Carla has a great way of understanding the mechanics of what's going on internally and translating that into multiple series of rehabilitation approaches that really work without forcing too much that you're not ready for. I was scared I might never get my normal life back, and although I still have a road ahead of me, I now know I can do anything I want with enough focus. Truly, I couldn't have done it without these awesome people! Carla for her expertise and personalized care (you'll never feel like a number here, they really care about each persons recovery), Linda always making sure I'm doing things safely, while engaging in my personal life often times (it feels good knowing these people really care), Kimmy the receptionist who really helped with scheduling and truly became a friend through the process, really I feel like these people are my friends now, more than just therapists! Even their interns were awesome, shane especially. I'd highly recommend physical therapy if you are injured and NORTH VALLEY PHYSICAL THERAPY should be your first choice! I found them on Yelp and Google Maps and was not disappointed. Cheerful friendly caring staff. No waiting. It appears physical therapists can vary as much in their handlings as much as chiropractors do. I liked the last PT I went to but he was too far away. He did almost entirely physical manipulation and perhaps gave me some exercises I could do. Carla was the opposite. She gave me lots of stretches and exercises to do. It is the result that counts. The stretch/exercises immediately got rid of my backache and headache. AND I can do them at home and get a good result. I will be going back. read more

This is not the first time I injure my shoulder. I had therapy at other places before but the results were not that great. I met Carla at a health fair and immediately liked her. I decided to try her place. It has more equipment than the other places I used. The stuff is very nice and there is personal attention all the time. The results of my therapy are great. I was recommended to go to North Valley Physical Therapy by my podiatrist. I was dealing with Metatarsal pain and planters fasciitis and was diagnosed with a pinched nerve. During the months of treatment at my doctors, he gave me a cortisone shot that hit my nerve! I was in a ton of pain for months-finally my doctor recommended me going to physical therapy at North Valley P.T.on Balboa. The Lead physical therapist, Carla, is a god send. She was incredible from the first day - She took time to talk and ask me questions and then examined my foot and looked at it in a way my doctor never did. She also noticed a bump (a goose egg) she called it on the bottom of my foot. By the end of my first visit that "goose egg" was gone and I immediately felt some relief. Carla and her team there are amazing ! I have been to other physical therapy places in the area and this place is far superior! Carla has a unique way or talent (I call it) of really focusing in on a patients needs and knowing and zeroing in on the appropriate therapy needed. I am now almost pain free - I'm still going for a couple more weeks but I couldn't wait to review this place because it is the best !! I just want to say thank you to North Valley physical therapy. I have numerous problems from adhesion complex disorder, diabetes, gastroparies, chronic headaches and bulging disc in my neck and lower back. Carla, the head therapist treats all my pain issues. Since I have been attending my pain in my stomach as well as the motility is better, my range of motion in my neck is vastly improving. When I first attended I was not able to walk without a limp or drive distance as of today I am walking better Without a limp and able to drive myself to therapy. I was in terrible pain from a neck injury. An MRI revealed that I had bulging discs at C5-6 and C6-7. The doctor prescribed physical therapy and lucky for me, I found North Valley Physical Therapy! It's been my experience that people who love their work are generally really good at it. Carla asked a lot of questions and studied the way I was moving before putting me through a series of resistance and range of motion tests. She taught me a series of exercises which I practiced every day as prescribed. After only three visits I am practically pain free. And, of course, I am still doing the exercises! Two weeks ago I threw out my back while bending over to get something. My whole lower back was in excruciating pain. I could barely walk. I was really worried because I am training for the Pasadena half-marathon in May. How would I ever be able to do 13.1 miles if I could barely walk around my apartment? I went that very day to North Valley Physical Therapy. They were able to see my on short notice, which was great. Carla gave me electro-stimulation therapy, while icing back. She then taped my back up and led me through a variety of back strengthening exercises. The next day I went in for another treatment and that same night I was able to walk a mile. I was shocked at how much better I felt after only two treatments. After a total of three treatments and continuing to do the exercises I had been shown, I was able to complete an 8 mile run/walk in preparation for my half-marathon this weekend.
