Been trying to get a new green waste can from Waste Management - Chico for two days since their grabber busted out the bottom of ours on last pick up. Today I was on hold for 2 hrs and 39 mins until I realized it was after 5pm at that point and they were now closed. Great customer service right there. Guess I'll try calling in the morning again for the third day in a row. read more

WM as a whole is going downhill. How you treat your elders who do the dues and pay every flipping month. And the one time I'm out of town and pay by phone and had a $14 balance. For well over a month not once did your company inform me of this. Now as of today you cut my service off and didn't notify me at all my service was going to be cut off. Then I pay my balance I owe and then you tell me my stuff can't be picked up on today's pickup day. Seriously it should be crime to cut service off for a Fing low balance. It not like I owed YOU PEOPLE $500+ bill to cut off service. But $14 and nobody sent letter or called. My boyfriend works for WM Golf Course in Scottsdale and is even applaud by this. Whoever reads this and works in office you should get your act together and stay on top of mail orders cause this is stupid. read more

Account enrollment has been terrible. The website form doesn't work and customer service has been unable to resolve the issue.

WM is the absolute worst. Apparently I wasn't enrolled in autopay which makes no sense to me considering I had enrolled myself as soon as I opened my account and all my other payments have gone through just fine in the past. I found out because they didn't pick up my trash on trash day. I go to look at my account and all the sudden my account is inactive due to the balance and I've got a giant bill to pay. No notification no nothing just NO TRASH PICK UP. Try to call to talk to a human and it takes 12 years to get to one. They're also incredibly unhelpful once you do get to a rep. I so badly wish there was another option but unfortunately I'm stuck with this BS company. read more

The incompetency here is absolutely mind numbing. I did not cancel services but because someone called in claiming to live at my address they switched the account, took my account off of auto pay, and then came and picked up my cans for non-payment. Then double charged me to get my cans back, and then didn't even bring me back all of the cans they took. On top of all this, they also returned my cans to the wrong address. Worst service ever. read more

Set up a new service online upon moving in 6 weeks ago. First they tried to deliver the bins to a street when I'm on an avenue, and when I looked at my account information my address was correct. Spoke with a rep who said they'd sort it out. Multiple notices on their website that my delivery was rescheduled for a later date that came and went several times. The detritus of moving house grows... On hold at least an hour every time I call. It is virtually impossible to speak to a service representative at this company unless you are ruthlessly patient. I used their callback service and they called me back the next morning only to put me on automatic hold. I waited it out for 2 hours out of sheer desperation before I finally hung up. I heard some people dragging a can out to the street from the gravel alleyway next door a few nights ago. It was filthy, cobwebbed and still had some bits in it, but no one has come to claim the mystery bin so I loaded some recycling in it and it actually was emptied on the route today, so W. Called in today and the robot assured me that my bins had been delivered today, get home from work and NO BINS! What is happening??? Please let me stop hoarding trash and leaves, I'm getting raccoons. I'm so scared. No more hold music. My toddler keeps asking "Where are the wheely bins?" I'm like, "buddy I literally do not know." Stop disappointing my child. read more

North Valley Disposal Waste Management - The auto callback I requested called me on a Saturday morning and put me on hold for 2 hours before I lost my mind and hung up. - Recycling Center Near Me - Chico, California

This service is absolutely ridiculous! The trash truck completetly broke the trash bin one day, and they did not care. After weeks of reporting the can unusable, they finally replaced it! They replaced it with an already broken can with a missing wheel, that has "pukerz" painted down the side of it..... real cute. We reported that can TWICE, and now have been waiting with this unusable broken trash can for 4 weeks. So that almost two months of service they make us pay for but didn't even leave a usable trash can. DO NOT USE THEM UNLESS YOU HAVE TOO. (I'm making this review on behalf of my family who cant.) read more

I got home Friday evening to discover that they failed to pick up my garbage. I tried to check their website to report this and make sure my account was current, and make a payment if necessary, but the website is down. The bill said I could call and make a payment through their automatic system. So I called the number. But you can't actually make a payment that way; the recording just tells you that the office is closed and that you can make a payment via their website. Which you can't do, because the website is down. There was a different menu option for checking on the status of your account. But when I selected that option I discovered that you can't actually do that either; you get the same recording saying that the office is closed. It also says you can leave a voicemail. So I decided to try to do that. Guess what? Their voice mailbox is full. There is literally no way a customer can do anything. read more

Poor service, sometimes they pick up and sometimes they go past my dumpsters in line with all the other neighbors dumpsters.

Horrible. Always raising rates because they are the only game in town. Did not pick up our trash today and there was absolutely no obstruction or reason preventing them to. read more

Waste management sucks. They charge high rates because they are the only company big enough to service all of town. Their phone system is terrible, I was just on hold for 45 minutes and it hung up on me. They've missed my house and my Neigbor's 3 weeks in a row now, and, to get ahold of them takes hours on end. I'm 22, I like to think I know the internet pretty well, but, their website doesn't work and certain keystrokes don't take you to where they are supposed to go. Waste management, we hate you. read more

AWFUL!!!! They are so unreliable! I've requested a container repair due to one of their drivers damaging it, and they have pushed it out yet again. It'll be 3 weeks before I get a new one. Their drivers complain about a lid 2 inches from closing, sending warnings to customers. It's no wonder their ratings are so low. I'd give no stars if I could! Terrible service! read more

North Valley Disposal Waste Management - Damaged container by WM driver. - Recycling Center Near Me - Chico, California

If there were ANY other option, I would take it. We have been without bins for almost 3 weeks.

Amazed how lazy the employees are, I paid 30 dollars for extra trash pick up and we watched the driver get out of the truck, look at the bags and get back in his truck. 6 small kitchen bags and his reason was it was an unacceptable load pick up..... They said the load would have to fit in our normal trash can.... Which is where those small 6 bags are now.... Then they said it can only be two bags.... But they still didn't take 2 of the bags! Plus who pays 30 dollars for them to pick up two small bags! what a joke! Not to mention everytime I go get my trash cans in the morning they are tipped over with trash everywhere, its like they don't even care! read more

I've been requesting an additional green waste container for well over a month. Every week I call, I am advised that one will arrive the following week. This morning I called for the 5th time and asked to speak to a supervisor who told me there were "no expectations when an additional green waste container would be available". I asked her why I had been lied to every week for a month. She denied my accusation, yet said that her staff will continue telling me to expect a container the following week. Again, I asked her why would she instruct your staff to lie to the customer? She again said that they weren't lying. Really? I asked her what part of your story is NOT true? Maybe the part where you don't tell the customer the truth, and continue to give them false expectations. This is a dishonest business that clearly doesn't give a hoot about customer service. And why should they? They have no competition. They are our only option for garbage pickup in Chico. Just like PG&E and Cal Water, they have the monopoly in this area and don't care. read more

Never thought I'd find a company worse than Comcast. Congrats, WM. You've done it. Charge people when your company breaks their cans and make them wait MONTHS to replace them? Absolutely horrible. read more

Worst company ever, I've been trying to get a yard waste can replaced that their driver continues to slam to the ground for over two months! How will they they do that if they don't have enough to cans to cover their current customers. read more

When we started service in Sept, 2022, we were told we would get the senior discount (I'm 74 and my wife is 67) but we weren't told what the rate would be. New service company equals LESS SERVICE. They failed to empty my trash can. I called while the truck was on the street. Five minutes later ( on hold ) When they asked what city I was calling from I knew I had a problem. They asked if my can was overfilled. When I told them it wasn't the reply was they'll get it next week. Current weather calls for 100+ weather for the next week. So much for monopolies and Thanks Chico. 1x garbage company for residential. In years past they would radio the driver and come back read more

They took our trash can for no reason and wouldn't replace it for over a week. Terrible customer service unfortunately the only game in town. read more

This is the worst company ever. It is a good thing they pay our city council so they can continue to be the worst company with the worst service yet no consequences because we have no other option which I thought was against the law. We are supposed to be able to choose a company but we literally can only use them and if we choose not to we have to produce receipts as to where our trash is going. read more

A few years ago Waste Management became the only trash service in Forest Ranch. Now they don't seem to be able to service the area and have a shortage of cans. I ordered service 19 days ago and was supposed to have a can delivered two weeks ago. I've been told there is a back order on trash cans and they don't have a date when they expect them. Also I have been charged for the service I haven't received from the day I requested service. I was told now by two representatives that I must call in to request a refund even though I'm not receiving any service yet because they don't have trash cans. Horrible customer service so far and they have a government like attitude on the phone , kind of like when your talking to DMV. Take it or leave it. read more

Your customer service sucks. I scheduled a bulky waste PU over a week ago for today. At 6:30 I called your 855 number to find out it's been rescheduled. In the meantime my driveway is blocked. I am a very unhappy customer read more

Waste Mgmt is the most incompetent and ineffective company I've experienced in my 60+ years. Their service reps are well trained to make you think they're helping you but they are 100% ineffective - they do not follow thru nor do they call you back as agreed. I've called at least 6xs this week after they've once again missed collecting my trash (the bin is in the street). Each rep was going to help me, call me back, and get my trash picked up within 48 hrs. Not one of the 6 reps did that and my trash has yet to be picked up. I asked one of the last few reps I spoke with "please just tell me the truth, will you be able to pick it up or will I need to wait til next trash day next week - I want to know what to expect" (I'm surrounded by businesses and have to pull the bin in as it gets knocked over often). This rep (Janie supervised by Ms Joyce) promised she would definitely take action, get my trash picked up and then call me before the end of the day. Didn't happen. If you're in the Butte County or Chico area, complain to Linda Herman, City of Chico Park & Natural Resources Mgr 530-896-7241, as they are the ones that have contracted with this company. read more

Terrible company from the top down. I've had several issues with North Valley Disposal over the years. I have called them several times with a promise from the person on the phone that the route manager would call me back. They have never called me back. The recycle route driver slammed my cab to the street and broke the wheels off the can. I watched him do it. He looked at me and just drove off. You would think he would of made a note. "Damaged can at xyz's house need to repair" Nope, three weeks later I call, they tell me we'll get someone out to fix or replace your can. Two moths later I call. Nothing, three moths later I call. I ask to speak to a supervisor. "Oh sure we'll have one call you. They never called. 4 moths later, I call same clown show. We'll fix it and I'll have a route manager call you. Nope never called. All the while I'm paying for a service that I'm not getting. I had to make two trips to the land fill to dispose of my trash. Five months later I see a flat bed drive down my street with new cans on the bead. They replace a neighbors can not mine. I call and get livid on the phone. 5.5 months later the can was replaced. Now. The driver skips pick up at my house at least once a month. I'm remodeling a room and need it picked up like I'm paying them to do. I call. The lady pulls up the notes and said the driver said the van wasn't out. BS it's been out on the curb for 3 days. She said she would look at the camera on the truck and get back to me. She never calls me back. I call her today. She said they can WAS out, but there was a car in the way. THE DRIVER LIED! Can was out. She said a rout manager would call me. I told her, No he won't. You guys drag your lazy asses until it's time to pick it up again. I call the route managers supervisor. She said the route manager will call you. I asked for her supervisor. She made a note for him to call me. I'm not holding my breath. There's other Issues that I've had with them. Look at the other reviews. All similar issues. By far the worst customer service. We have been waiting since July for a recycling can. They continue to charge us and say it's coming next week, and if they don't charge us we won't get the can and tell us once we do to call back and ask for a refund. Someone should open another business so we don't have to depend on this company. read more

Charging $15 a pop for "flexible plastic" (i.e. trash bags) in the recycle bin is bad enough, but when they repeatedly charge low-income, disabled people for such "offenses," even during months when the recycle bin stays in the back yard and was not even picked up at all, these people are are acting like greedy villains. They need to lose the monopoly granted by the city. read more

The first notification I got that a monopoly was an option is when the BEST company(Recology) sent me a postcard telling me I had zero choice in a free market economy. Its been weeks? I contacted city council who except for one person-not a single person replied to me. The one response I got was-we decided this in March-where were you? Well, since I check my mail every day and answer my messages, I never got a notification from Chico that I could be affected by their idiocy. PGE/Cal water and every other service are required to provide notification of change of service or change in rates. I was with Recology for over 10 years and on 4 properties(concurrently) and EVERY single issue I ever had was handled with LOCAL courtesy and quickly and wonderfully. I will gladly join a recall effort, voting effort, lawsuit, or whatever to get free choice back. It was done SOLELY for $$$$. Chico used to get about 500k for allowing service, now they get 1,800k under the auspices of less pollution, less wear/tear. well, guess what-there used to be 2 trips/week on my street, now there are 5. how on earth is that better? --- update-just called in cause my driver told me I am not on the pickup list. WM told me my address before I told them my info. THEN they told me my account was closed-in 2015-BEFORE I LIVED HERE!!! Then they told me an address(across the street). Then when I wanted to make sure they were not gonna screw with my awesome neighbors-the "okay, um, okay" CS guy told me to stop talking and he was going to "drive the bus-sit back and let me drive the bus" I hung up. Gotta go find my blood pressure medicine. --- update 3/7/2018 they took my garbage cans today. i called to try to find out why. they said i dont have an account with them. I did. They finally found one and said i owe over $700 yet they were incapable of sending me a bill but were capable of picking up my trash for the last 6 months since Chico city council raped my rights to choose my service provider. The latest phone call they told me that they were charging me for 4 cans and recology only had me down for 2. Obviously the idiot can replacement people screwed up. So now I have no cans... and a wrong bill....but wait-THERES MORE!!! My service from recology cost me 48.49/month. She tells me after she takes off the wrong cans my bill is $375... which divided by 6 months since recology got booted is ?? wait.. HOW MUCH?! Now for the privilege of NOT being able to choose my carrier, i have to pay 62.96/mo for worse service? how the @#$%^& is that even possible? Who would like to cancel WM and have me drive to their house every week with a dump truck-pile your garbage in and we can take turns dumping it at every city council member driveway until this gets changed. Oh-did you know? WM used to have to pay $250,000/year for teh right to gouge customers. Now the city wants $900,000/year. Who do you think is going to pay for that? Invoice your city council member for the difference, keep track and take them each to small claims court every year. With interest until we get our rights to choose back again. read more

The Chico City Council screwed us by creating a monopoly for these greedy clowns. We have already been hit with a huge rate increase. The newest financial scam this company is running is supplying their drivers with cameras to photograph any dumpster with 1" over the top and applying a "Surcharge" equal to an entire months of service. The drivers actually SHARE in the profits! I was sent a photo SEVEN weeks after the alleged incident and given a $163.89 surcharge(One months service cost) with the threat of cancellation if not paid. The employee could not explain why it took nearly 2 months for me to be notified and one month later, I have still not received a return call from a manager. Terrible organization. I am the Assistant Manager for Cedar Village Apartments. I have just spent half an hour on the telephone with our local Waste Management office in Chico, CA. to say that I am less than pleased with the service I received would be an understatement. After being transferred several times only to wind up back with the second person I spoke with, I was still unable to receive the information I need. Our service was transferred from Recology to Waste Management effective October 1st. In order to pay for service my company requires certain documents, including certificates of insurance naming Cedar Village as additionally insured. I also requested a contract or service agreement. I was told that they do not have those. I asked for the name of the local sales rep and was told there is not one. One of the gentlemen I spoke with did manage to get me a W-9 and was able to tell my the collection days, which has been reduced from five days a week to four (this is bad for us), however, he was unable to tell me how much we would be billed. Cedar Village had no choice in the transfer of service. It was a decided by the City of Chico, Recology, and Waste Management but we are suffering the consequences. read more

They have lousy customer service. I was charged an overage fee for trash someone else placed in our dumpster. I called and asked Michael Sherman to waive the fee. He refused.
