We had a great experience with North Star Tree Service. We had two very large trees (one of them dead) extending at a 45-degree angle over our house. We knew they needed to be removed but had been putting it off because of the expense. Our house is built essentially at the edge of a 15-foot drop, and both trees were rooted in the middle of the very steep hill, their trunks quite close to the house. Everything about the removal was complicated! Will came out to quote the job and considered all the options for how to drop the trees, asking us if we minded removing some limbs from neighboring trees to facilitate the process, and talking through the strategy with us. He was professional, knowledgeable and friendly, and gave us a great price on the spot. Even after he explained how they could leverage the branches off a nearby tree to swing them out away from the house, I couldn't quite imagine how it was possible without hitting the house! Will worked around our schedule and communicated clearly with us. The crew of guys that showed up were likewise professional, friendly and quite skilled. Their tree-climber was amazing, and they worked and communicated well together. They did everything they said they would do and finished the entire project, plus a few other smaller items, in just a few hours. I am shocked at these reviews! I absolutely loved working with Wil and North Star Tree Service. I had about 8 pros come out and quote removing two very large trees- one being a giant red oak hanging at 45 degree angle (not exaggerating) over my neighbors fence. Out of all the pros, Wil was the most knowledgeable and least 'pushy'. We have a number of trees on our lot and he didn't try to upsell us like half of the guys who came out. We were trying to stick with a budget and he actually gave us a few different options on how to save a couple dollars. The day of the removal was a breeze! I was shocked at how they were able to take down a tree hanging over my fence with such ease. Especially since it was beginning to rot from the inside out! The crew even chipped up limbs from other trees that fell during a snow storm that we had in a pile at no extra cost. They were in and out in 3 hours. My yard was cleaner after they left than when they got here! My neighbor spoke with Wil and is going to be hiring him for a job after seeing their work and meeting with him. I had a tricky situation with a huge (35 inch diameter at man's height) diseased white oak situated near the fence next to my neighbor. A lot of the large branches were over their house and there was no access to bring a crane. Jacob Miller (678-598-0171) came to see the tree, and let me know what it would take to remove it. He gave me copies of his liability insurance, worker's compensation and 3 references. I negotiated the price with him after getting another 5 quotes, and he was willing to match my best offer, so I gave him the job. His crew brought down the tree without damage to my neighbor's house. Carrying the heavy lumber in my backyard with a bobcat left some track damage, but that was known to me upfront. What we did not expect, was that the weight also cracked a side of my driveway. I let Jacob know and he handled it very professionally. The next day his crew, broke that section and rebuilt it with new concrete. This is the second time I've used this company and I totally recommend them to anyone! They came out before the close of business on the day I called (yesterday), I was given options for how to handle the problem with prices and ways each could be completed. I made my the choice to remove the 85 foot oak tree and I was told it would be a few weeks before they could do it. I was called back and offered the option of having it removed this morning. They arrived on time and immediately went to work. It took them about 3 hours to cut down the tree, grind all of the branches and leaves that dropped. They cleaned the yard and even blew everything off of the driveway, yard and street where things fell. The gentlemen were all polite, knowledgeable and got right to business. We used this company a year or so ago to remove at least 10 trees and trim many others that were potential problems during a storm. The quote was great and the work was excellent. They did not try to get us to take down more trees than needed. Because we had such a good experience with them in the past, we called them again for a very large tree that was rotting at the base and leaning towards the driveway and front yard. Even after being extra busy because of recent storms, they got to the house in a reasonable amount of time and were able to get the tree removed safely and quickly. Bill of North star Tree looked at my trees and explained things better than any tree company I have used. The great thing was, he came back with the crew and made sure things were done exactly as we had agreed. The crew quickly took care of business,cleaned up, and left no damage. Atlanta just had high winds and one of my neighbor's massive trees fell across the property line and smashed his neighbor's house.
