If you can't make it to the moon, at least aim for the North Star--because apparently that's where top-tier MRI experiences are happening. I recently had an MRI at NorthStar Diagnostic Imaging , Allen, and I have to say... I was not expecting to leave smiling after voluntarily entering what is essentially a very polite, high-tech tube. But here we are. From the moment I walked in, the staff operated like a well-rehearsed pit crew--efficient, friendly, and reassuring without overdoing it. There's a calm professionalism in the air that makes you feel like you're in very capable hands (and not about to be launched into orbit... probably). And then there's Zahra--the MRI professional who deserves her own spotlight. If there were an Employee of the Month (EOM) hall of fame, she'd already have a reserved parking space. Clear instructions, great energy, and just the right amount of humor to make the whole process smooth and surprisingly pleasant. She turned what could have been a tense experience into something that felt easy and even--dare I say--enjoyable. The staff are very pleasant and good. My problem is their poor accounting and refund process. Somehow a few visits 2 years ago ended up with a $95 credit. It was never refunded to me. I only found out after a recent visit and not until after when insurance settled and they wanted the remainder due, I found then the credit was applied. I called them twice to alert and politely complain about them having my $$ for 2 years. No explanation other than it was applied to your bill. Good customer service would have returned my money long ago. I wonder how many others are due money and have no clue. I'll choose others for service going forward. read more

I will update this once issue is resolved. We had X-ray done here on a Thursday i was told they would get it read that day. The called the following day and it was still not read. I did not get results back until Monday. We paid cash pay upfront and I'm still getting a bill. I called and the guy I spoke with could see our payment was made on the date of service and could not apply the payment. I am still getting a bill from them. I will update my review if this gets resolved. read more

North Star Diagnostic Imagining is open evenings and Saturdays. This schedule made it easy for us to schedule an MRI. We made an appointment and were ready to get started. But our insurance denied us. What a mess! You know how this goes. They want A, B, and C done before authorizing the MRI. Of course, the problem was communication. The receptionist, Nancy, was amazing. I really thought this was going to be my problem. But Nancy assured me she would collect all the information, talked to the doctor, make all the phone calls to the insurance company. She offered to do her best to straighten this out. Nancy called me with updates. I was really impressed with the customer service this young lady gave us. She got the MRI approved and made another appointment within 48 hours. The facility is beautiful, modern, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. They keep it freezing cold (bring a jacket). The technician was friendly and kind. They told us what to expect next. It was a wonderful experience. We will definitely go back as we need more MRI's. read more

Terrific experience here compared to my (now former) usual imagining center. Staff are compassionate and high-info providers. That makes you feel much more comfortable. Checking, including payment, can all be accomplished online so it's quick in and out, too. Did I mention they were also less expensive after I did a price comparison for a covered out of pocket procedure? Even though this is a slightly farther drive for me, there's no chance I'll be going anywhere else. read more

Do not go to this place if you have insurance! They will over charge you and it will take forever to get your money back! I had a appointment July for a ultrasound. Because my I sure has a high deductible, they charged me $750. I had to have it, so I payed. After filling with my insurance, they stated I was due a $400 refund. I have called the billing department at least 10 times and keep getting the run around. First person said I would get a refund to my bank account @4-6 weeks. I called back after 6 weeks and they said it was never precessed. I have talked to several managers and supervisors who have stated the escalated the refund as urgent and I should receive it it 3-5 days. Still nothing. It has been 3 months now! I am about to get a lawyer and sue them for theft! read more

While sitting in the waiting room a man had a loud discussion with the front desk ladies about making them more independent so that things ran better if they had another Covid outbreak. I had to ask staff that was interacting closely with me to put a mask on. Completely unprofessional and I will never set foot in that crap fest again. read more

Where to start? All was well up to the point of the exam starting. I came here for a knee MRI and this is my third MRI in the last two years (all at different locations/companies) so i feel like i have a good understanding of good vs bad. 1) the tech asked me what music i wanted to listen to and she never switched it. It was stuck on 60's country the whole damn MRI!! 2) the emergency button. I pushed and squeezed that damn button 20 times and she never came in or communicated with me. The tech never even checked on me or spoke with me the entire exam. Other places I've been to at least check in after 5-10 min. The emergency button should always work and be tested. What if there was a real issue at hand and not just audio torture? 3) the tech was not paying attention. I was waving my hand at multiple times and pointing to my headphones and giving a thumbs down. The response later was "oh i thought you were dancing". WTF kind of dancing do you do!!?? 4) I scheduled a followup Appt with my doctor to review MRI but had to reschedule due to North Star being unable to read the MRI on time. Now i wait 4 more days and an extra week, thanks. I will never go here again and would suggest you stay away. From exam to follow up and beyond these guys dropped the ball. read more

Having to get an MRI is not a fun thing! Anxiety rises, pure fear overcomes you. Not so the other day when I had an MRI at North Star Imaging in Allen. I was totally impressed with the appointment schedulers I encountered and they set the stage for a great experience. (Trainers for North Star, you are doing a great job!) Entering the Allen location, friendly faces all with big smiles. Only had to wait a few minutes for my appointment before Todd came to get me. I explained I was terrified of IV lines and he assured me they weren't going to use one on me, just a little tiny butterfly to inject the contrast. He was so calming and a true professional. I lost all fear and the anxiety went away, especially when he put some great country music on the headphones. 20 Min later, bam...over and out of there. The best imaging experience EVERY. I walked in 5 minutes before my appointment. Barely sat down before they called me back. In and out about as quick as can be.

I came in for an MRI with contrast for my wrist and it couldn't have been a better experience. Scheduling an appointment was pretty simple, the facility's very clean and inviting, the staff's very friendly and professional, and the entire process for the procedure was great as well. I appreciated that they took the time to explain how everything was going to go down (I've had MRIs in the past, but never with contrast) and made the poking and prodding relatively painless for the injected contrast part. Another bonus, there are comfy chairs in the waiting room! My husband accompanied me on this visit and since there weren't any seats in the back, he had to stay in the waiting room for a good hour. I think they expect people to be waiting on their loved ones for a while because they had a mini-fridge stocked with tons of different sodas and water as well as a candy jar with an array of chocolate. I'm a little jealous that I wasn't be in the waiting room longer to enjoy all the goodies! read more

My wife had imaging done on 4/1/1021, she called them and was quoted $575 with her insurance and was also quoted $275 cash price. My wife had the imaging done and we attempted to pay the cash price of $275 at that time before we left the office. The receptionist told us oh we will bill you for it. Months later we get a bill for $575. I then call their customer service number and spoke to a CSR and a supervisor, the supervisor said she would get it straightened out and they would rebill my wife for the $275. About a month or so later my wife gets a text wanting payment for the $575. I called customer service and they were unhelpful and just said there was nothing we could do except pay the $575. What a rip off!! Will never use them again!! And will not recommend them!! read more

I had appointment at your Frisco location this past week and the experience and service was horrible. There was no social distancing. The Chairs were not spread out and every single seat was occupied. There were people additional people standing inside the lobby and few were standing outside. I was told after the fact that were more seatings inside but no one told that upon entering. No one was sanitizing the seats and there was only one sanitizer at the check-in counter. Connie the tech was extremely rude and hands on. Instead of articulating what she wanted me to do, as in shift right/left or slide up/down she kept pushing down on my shoulders and pushing me down on the table. I have a broken T-spine and issues with my cervical and lumbar spine and for her to get physical with me even when my child and I kept telling her to stop she didn't. She was rude and I left in more pain and muscle ache in my shoulders and my neck and saw bruising develop after as well. Also, when I asked Connie for the image CD, she just said: NO! you don't need it. The worst service ever. She never apologized for being rude, hands on or standing over my face without a mask during the times of Covid. This is not the first time I have received such unprofessional service from Northstar...the last time was at the Carrollton location at OrthoTexas. The only reason I went to NorthStar again was because I thought that the other location would be better but it was worst. Northstar gets negative starts from me. This place is horrible stay away. I called ahead to ask questions and they told me everything wrong. Told me I would be on my back and tube is closed on one end. It was on my stomach and open on one end. I had an abdominal biopsy day before and was told on the phone it might make me feel like I have to pee? In avoidance of pain I asked the tech and she said 'she has never heard of that'. Well maybe go talk to your front desk girl and she'll tell you all about it! Horrible bedside manner, lack of knowledge, can't even put in an IV. Told me I didn't fit in the MRI tube and that 'many women can't even stand the on stomach superman pose' needed for breast MRI. It's like she knew it wasn't going to work because most don't. Told me had to do IV for contrast before going in tube so I don't move. Then when she couldn't get it in herself came up with a plan that other tech would put it in my hand while I'm in the tube last 20 mins. How does that make sense? It doesn't and it was a failed visit and I have to go to the hospital or another company. I think the insurance recommends this place because they are cheap and they have a tiny cheap tube. read more

I took my order in for MRI, scheduled my appt. lady was super nice and very helpful. Showed up for my MRI the lady doesn't do all of my exam. They call me back in and say "we need a few more images!" This Indian lady says to me "u look familiar, have u been here before" I said "yes u didn't do my coccyx u only did my back!" She said "the dr ordered it incorrectly the coccyx wasn't on there" me "yes it was, I personally delivered it and it was hand written on the form!" She continued to argue with me. I was not impressed with her at all. This is simple to say "sorry I made a mistake!" I usually give y'all 5 stars but because of her u get less!!!!! I even informed dr Steiner how ugly she acted!!!! I had a MRI with North Star. I discussed the cost prior to my MRI and paid the total. Now, these greedy jerks that billed my insurance $2000 are trying to bill me for more money. They were too inefficient to send my information over to my doctor without me calling and inquiring. Stay away from this location! They obviously are very disorganized! read more

I am always able to get an appointment quickly. They provide detailed instructions on what you can and can't do before your test. I have not had to wait a long time, usually get started within a few minutes of my appointment time. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. I've had three different test performed there in the past couple of months and I will be using them for any further tests. read more

I had a MRI with contrast on my hip. The front office staff greeted me in a very friendly manner. I completed the paperwork and was taken back for my procedure within 5 minutes . Troy was the technician that prepared me and aided the radiologist with the contrast injection. Troy was so caring and explained in detail what to expect. He was so professional and knowledgeable. He set the bar for the rest of my procedure. Great job, Troy!! The radiologist was very professional and caring. He took great care to make sure I was comfortable, explaining what was being done as he proceeded. Jen M., did the actual MRI. From start to finish, Jen was incredible. She explained all aspects of the procedure and made sure she eased my anxiety as I am very claustrophobic. She made sure I was comfortable and gave me headphones with music. The headphones were a tremendous help. Jen also talked to me at regular intervals through the headphones. She inquired if I was okay and let me know how much longer before we would be finished. Very comforting for me. Jen is a true professional and her demeanor and knowledge helped to make me so comfortable and confident. The procedure was over an hour long, but having encountered three such professional, knowledgeable and caring people made it not such a daunting experience. The facility was very clean!! They also had snacks and drinks available in the waiting room. I would recommend this Allen location to others. read more

I showed up for scheduled appointment for MRI. at 8:00am. I was then informed at 9:00 am that tech had not arrived to provide procedures. They were not sure if or when they would have someone available. This is unacceptable. Why is it when the medical profession makes a mistake there is no monetary impact. Worst company to work with regarding billing. They overcharged me $460 for test and since June 2020 I have been fighting with them to refund my flexible spending account back or send me the money. I have been lied to by several people there even a supervisor named Lacey Matamoros. She stated on the vm she left that a checked was sent out 11/3 and it should take 2-3 days to get it. Today is 12/9 and still no refund and still no return call from her. 3 messages have been left. I will never use there service again. read more

The imaging process went well...no complaints. The staff was friendly and helpful. However, when it came to payment for services rendered we were told after North Star consulted with our insurance that our part would be a certain amount so we scheduled the MRI. However, we later received a follow-up bill with a residual and significantly higher amount. It just so happened it was within days of renewal of our medical plan. Had North Star given us the right amount to begin with we would have delayed the non-emergency MRI until the very next month when the insurance plan renewed so the residual amount could have been applied the new year deductible. North Star was completely unwilling to assume any responsibility for their incorrect communication. Not a "happy camper." read more

I overpaid for my MRI in January and it is now May and they still have not refunded me. I have called numerous times and getting the absolute run around. They first said it would be put back into my account- then said it would be mailed to me. Now they are telling me they really do not have a billing dept. and that it would take a long time to get a hold of them because they are using a 3rd party to do their billing. Not impressed with this location. Preferred imaging in McKinney had better and more caring staff. My 14 year old needed her 2nd MRI and we were referred to come here. When we were walking out she made the comment herself that the girl tech rushed and didn't act like she cared compared to the other place who made sure she was comfortable. You stay open late but nerd staff who aren't in a hurry to leave. read more

I called on a Friday and was able to make a appointment for the next Tuesday. Check-in was quick, facilities were spotless, imaging was completed quickly, and I received my results within a few days. Overall a positive experience! I will return to the Allen next time I need imaging. read more
