    The beauty of nature....

Dreams are made of sand, sun, and... Well maybe not all dreams but, North Shore Open Space Park will leave you in tranquility. From the vibrant colors of the lifeguards' stations to the hues of blue ocean waters rushing spontaneously against the shoreline on such a hot summer day was spectacular. Parking was a breeze. And the park wasn't crowded during our early morning visit. I'm definitely looking forward to visiting this park/beach again.

Beautiful park, green grass, dog parks for big and little dogs. Plenty of dog bag stations. Lots of sea grape trees, changing color and losing leaves like fall up north. Fenced off areas for conservation that are full of beautiful cats in all shapes and sizes. These cats are apparently protected and live in the trees and dunes by the beach (I hope the county is keeping tabs on fixing them, because there would be a cat population explosion if every girl had a litter!) people are walking, biking and roller blading on the paved walkways and others are bbq'ing and celebrating under the many pavilions. No trash to be seen anywhere. Clean bathrooms. Dogs are welcome on a leash throughout the park. There's a dog beach from 80-81st streets, Friday through Sunday during specific hours, 130-sunset, but it's not marked so ask the life guard. It was our first time there on a Friday afternoon, and it was great. Clean sand, not crowded. Lots of metered street parking. We'll be back.

    Runnnnn!

I like this park because it's within walking distance from my house, so I'm a bit biased I suppose. I certainly would NOT drive to this park or go out of my way to come here but since it's close I end up here a lot to take the doggies to run. The park itself isn't that bad, there are gazebos for picnics, a winding sidewalk that has trees covering most of it giving it nice shade and I see a lot of bike riders, families, and runners take advantage of that. I would def. NOT come to this park after dark, it seems a little unsafe but during the day it's not bad. There are two dogs parks, one side for small dogs, one for larger dogs. There really is nothing for the dogs to do there except run, so bring some toys for your pups. Also there is no water for the dogs close to the park so bring your own bowl and water, sometimes people leave bowls of water there but I don't trust anything people leave out like that. Once I brought my dogs here and they came home with fleas, although I believe it was the dog that was there they were playing with; because they had come to the park many times before this and been fine. So just be sure they are up to date on their flea meds. before coming here since some people don't take it seriously.

The atmosphere was so lively, and even though it was super hot, I loved every minute of it. Since the FIFA World Cup was coming up, there were decorations and displays around the area that added to the excitement. It made the whole beach feel even more energetic. There's so much to do besides just relaxing on the sand. You can walk the beachfront trails, check out the outdoor workout areas, visit the nearby restaurants and shops, or simply enjoy the beautiful scenery. The beach itself was amazing. The sand was soft, the water was warm, and it was the perfect place to spend the day. Thankfully, our hotel included complimentary beach chairs, which made the experience even better. If your hotel doesn't provide them, you can always bring your own chairs or just relax on a towel or blankets. I love the Miami vibe, and South Beach is one of my favorite places to visit. It's always a fun, energetic destination, and I can't wait to come back.

The beach is wide, clean, and perfect for walking, sunbathing, or simply enjoying the ocean view. When you head toward the beach through Lummus Park, the stretch of green really welcomes you. You do have to walk quite a bit to reach the sand--it's surprisingly far from Ocean Drive. I don't think I've ever seen such a large distance between a main road and the beach before, but honestly, that's part of its charm. Palm trees, colorful lifeguard towers, and the Art Deco skyline create the classic Miami postcard scene. Whether you visit for sunrise or sunset, the vibe here is always energetic. Parking: Take my words: Park at 'Miami Beach Parking Garage [7th St]', its your best bet

There are different parking lots around the park, but you do have to pay for parking. We also saw security driving around a couple of times, which made the area feel safe and well monitored. I have spent years listening to people tell me how terrible Miami is…read more.. I've heard it all, especially about Miami Beach. The crime, the chaos, the tourists, the traffic, the partying, the old cocaine reputation from the 1980s, and all the other things people seem to love bringing up whenever I tell them how much I love Miami. I know what Miami is. I've been coming here since I was 22 years old, so this isn't some recent love affair I developed because Miami became fashionable. I got the bug very early, and somehow it never left my soul, my mind or my heart. Miami Beach has reinvented itself over and over again. It went from a resort playground in the early 20th century, through the glamorous Art Deco era, the postwar years, the decline and drug-era reputation, and then the extraordinary preservation movement that saved much of South Beach from being demolished. The Art Deco Historic District became the first urban 20th-century historic district on the National Register in 1979, and today Miami Beach has more than 800 historic Art Deco buildings. Even now, the city continues to build its identity around that architecture while mixing it with restaurants, nightlife, art, music, fashion, luxury hotels and international tourism. And that's what people who constantly criticize Miami seem to miss when they talk about it like it's nothing but chaos. Yes, Miami Beach is still a party town. It is still loud, crowded, international, sometimes completely ridiculous and full of people doing very bad things... There is also an incredible amount of history, architecture, culture, music, food, design and sheer personality packed into this little island. Millions of people still come here every year, and tourism remains one of the major economic engines of the area. In 2025 alone, tourism generated an estimated $2.2 billion in local and state tax revenue. I've watched Miami Beach change for decades, and I still love coming here. Maybe that's why I don't get particularly interested when somebody starts telling me all the reasons I shouldn't like it. Its honestly very offputting.. I have my own relationship with this place. I've stayed here, played here, dined here.. attended the parties ... large and small listened to the music, met the people, celebrated birthdays, had incredible nights and made memories that aren't going anywhere. I don't need Miami Beach to be perfect for me to love it. I actually like that it has a personality. I like that it can be elegant one minute and completely chaotic the next. I like the energy, the people, the ridiculousness of it, the history, the ocean, the architecture and the fact that something is always happening. People can have their opinions about Miami. I'll keep coming back. And if I'm going to choose between the chaos and millions of people in Miami or the chaos and millions of people in Los Angeles, I'll take Miami every single time.

What's not to like? That being said,If you visit from anywhere north of Fort Lauderdale, you are…read moregoing to experience culture shock. Just roll with it. My earliest reference to Miami Beach was as a kid watching the Jakie Gleason show. It was announced every show that ,it was broadcast from beautiful Miami Beach. That was enough to " book mark" it in my mind. Then in 1977 on my way back from a scuba trip in the Keys,I drove up Collins Ave from South Beach all the way up to Bal Harbor. It was a shocking sight most of the way. Lined with high rises, obsolete hotels and bus stop benches full of generations of elderly that had retired and been ravaged by the then raging inflation. Yes boys and girls,if you think inflation is bad now it's nothing compared to the late 70s and early 80s . As those generations left us and Miami in general and Miami Beach in particular reached economic obsolescence, the real estate deveopers moved in and the gentrification and renewal began. What a job they've done. Now, development is always controversial for100s of reasons not the least of which is environmental concerns. As I've returned to the Miami area over the years it amazes me how dense it's become. The first time I returned to the South Beach area was 1998. The restoration of the old art deco hotel movement was in high gear, I felt like a million bucks. The boutique hotel I stayed in was fantastic, with a view from the second floor window ( that opened) onto the busy avenue below and beach beyond. The development continued and it wasn't until almost 15 years later that I returned. Overall development was now completed,Miami Beach was again a desirable destination and I was back! My intentions are to return at least one more time. It's what's great about our country. We are constantly renewing, sharing cultures and looking forward to the future. I highly recommend you... Go!
