Martell park chain locked door open
    Sebastian C.

The park is beautifully located next to the Julia Tuttle. Perfect for residents of the Blue and Charter Club, as it's not practical for those requiring parking. Since covid, park employees have chained the gate open and close at sunset. I'm ok with that, but it's the way the employees chain the door open at the park that is not only idiotic but dangerous. I understand Martell park isn't officially a dog park, but dogs and children can easily run out of the park on to the busy 36 street, potentially causing a dangers accident. I don't know who's bright idea it is to chain the gate open every day but it must be stopped.

Great dog park grass is manicured and clean dog owners clean up behind themselves and the park has a great view of the ocean side

Quite small but they still have space to run. Small dogs & the fence looks kind of flimsy but good location.

The park was created by the development firm Related Group who built the small park for the city in 2019 in exchange for closing NE 31st Street to allow construction of the new district. While it is a City of Miami park, it is maintained by the Paraiso District. There are approximately 7,000 residents living within a 10 minute walk to the park. While this is a park primarily used by area residents anyone is free to use it. Parking for Paraiso Park can be difficult to find but I found a metered spot a couple of blocks down the street. The main draw of this park is the stunning view of Biscayne Bay with a wide brick bay walk. The walkway is part of the Biscayne Line, a 10-mile waterfront promenade connecting Edgewater in the north with downtown Miami in the south. Next to the park and connected by the bay walk is the restaurant Amara at Paraiso, where diners can enjoy outdoor seating with bay breezes. Other park features include a popular dog park, public art, a children's playground with rope climber, benches, water fountain, and an exercise area with three Kompan Fitness Zone machines. I was really impressed by how much half an acre can hold while making the most of the breath taking view of Biscayne Bay.

In ancient times, the Tequesta used the river for travel and in the 1800's, the Seminoles set up a trading post to service early Miami settlers. Later on the land was a limestone quarry. Dedicated in 1936, Greynold's is Miami's second oldest park. It was created by the Civilian Conservation Corps. which was part of Roosevelt's New Deal Program that was set up to provide work for Americans who were suffering from the Great Depression. The limestone from the quarry was used for the buildings in the park. Greynold's is one on my favorite parks in Miami. I have been to the west side but this was my first time visiting the east end. The park has a lot of beautiful trees which support the local bird population. As I was walking around I saw a red shouldered hawk swoop down for a meal. Park amenities in this part of the park include a restroom, dog park, and kayak launch. There is a vendor renting kayaks or bring your own. You can paddle up the Oleta River to the intracoastal, north into Dumbfoundling Bay and back to the launch. It is a 6-7 mile loop with nice scenery for most of the paddle. The only thing I dislike about Greynold's park is they charge $7 for parking on weekends. Parks are funded by tax payers so I am used to parking for free. Greynold's started charging for parking over a year ago and I am not sure why North Miami felt they needed to start doing that. Possibly they were trying to be like nearby Oleta River Park which also has kayak rentals and charges a similar fee for entrance to the park.

Also has a doggie water fountain so they can drink as well as a hose to wash off the dogs if they get dirty. Highly recommend. There are also human bathrooms at the park as well.
