Really good coffee, not just for the area but also if I were in Chicago, New York, etc. Service was helpful and friendly, the coffee didn't take too long. There weren't any prices on the menus which was a little weird, but that was the only downside. Would recommend. read more

Cute coffee shop with wifi in the heart of Petoskey. Charming. Service was friendly and social though a bit slow. Good drip coffee. A bit loud with all the exposed brick, kind of like a bouncy echo chamber. Taught two long-distance classes from a booth in the back. Made myself right at home and everyone was very welcoming and curious. But not too curious. Parking on this street is a mystery - hope I don't get charged for multiple parking slots? Okay. I can't believe the charcoal latte was as good as it was. SO good. I'm literally giving it five stars for that alone - it was a great experience generally but it was really well flavored as well as pretty! I don't take any medications currently so I was excited to get to try an ~instagram friendly food~ ... but managed to drop it all over my hand before I got the shot. D'oh. North Perk was the only legit coffee shop open when we visited Petoskey this winter. Their offerings did not disappoint. I had a Petoskey Fog Latte - light on the vanilla (AKA London Fog Latte with black tea, vanilla, and steamed milk), and it was excellent. The interior is cute, although I can't figure out why there is a hole in their wall. It was always busy, but I always found seating. If you're looking for a good latte, definitely try North Perk. read more

I ordered a large chai latte & biscotti - both were delish: 1) I usually add a bunch of extras to any latte, but this chai latte was made so perfectly I gladly drank it as-is:) 2) the original biscotti is ACTUALLY SOFT - thank goodness for biscottis I can eat without hurting my teeth or soaking it in coffee first. The best thing about this place is the atmosphere. The high ceilings really lend to an atmosphere. The booths are really nice to sit in, as well as the tables by the window. My only recommendation would be to have a light roast option on espresso and cold brew. This is also a really great place to take clients, friends, first dates, or out-of-towners to a coffee meeting. So far so good! I've been here twice in the last 4 days and I'm impressed with the clean design and layout, good seating, very fast free wifi and friendly people. They seem to be doing just about everything right including fresh bagels and doughnuts from Johan's every morning. I think they source their coffee from Higher Grounds in Traverse City......I have noticed that the dark roast wasn't as robust as I would have liked it but could either be a mellow roast or not enough grounds in that particular brew. Over all, a nice 'uncluttered' alternative to Roast & Toast with a more modern feel and great music in the background. Wishing them good luck and best wishes. read more

I got a cold brew with almond milk and one pump of vanilla. I didn't want it to be too sweet and I definitely did not have that issue. Although I got the pump of vanilla I didn't taste it in the coffee which honestly was okay with me. There is a very nice environment with pretty decor, plants, and a very comforting environment. After getting my coffee, I sat down at one of the tables and read a book. I would definitely go back! read more

Great atmosphere! Adorable shop, with lots of options and good food items. I ordered an iced lavender latte something tasted off about it. I didn't finish the drink or ask for a new one because we didn't stay. The workers seemed very nice so I'm sure they would have fixed it. My husband got a black coffee and a bagel and he liked both of them. I would definitely love to come back when I'm the area again and try something else! My favorite and best coffee cafe' is closed today to give their employees a day to regroup and decompress after a most difficult summer of huge numbers of tourists in town and ongoing staffing shortages. So, I decided give the "other" place, North Perk, a shot. As a local, I had stopped patronizing them a long time ago due to their less than stellar service and attitude. But I figured after these several years, they had, perhaps, improved. Not to be! What kind of coffee shop doesn't brew any decaf and can't even do a pour over? Other places who, for whatever reason, don't brew decaf by the pot will gladly do a pour over. My preferred morning vice is a strong brew of half decaf and half regular. No real difference from the last time I was here. Won't be coming back!! read more

I've visited Petoskey each of the past 2 years, including this coffee shop. I'd consider myself a coffee snob and will often choose a local place to try instead of a national chain. I was pretty impressed last year. This year, I was impressed by the additional offerings and quality. The barista was happy to explain the various options, and he sold me on the charcoal latte. It was really good! Fortunately, I'm staying in town one more day and am looking forward to trying something different tomorrow. read more

Checked in when we were visiting the town. The place inside was large enough for many people to sit inside and a variety of options. We ordered a large to share and it was tasty. the definition of a cool coffee place. nice staff, amazing coffee too. i got one of their stickers and put it on my computer. i was pleasantly surprised when i noticed it had a little bit of a texture to it, and that's really helpful for me personally because i have anxiety and i can use that as a sensory thing in class, and no one really notices! it's also such a cool sticker. i did. my homework there a few days ago and it was really nice to get a seat by an outlet so my computer didn't die. read more

However, the guy making the drinks acted like he didn't want to be there and went immediately to talking to his friends instead of making sure he used almond milk instead of whole milk (it was fixed). LOVE this coffee shop! Petoskey needed another coffee shop so badly and you couldn't ask for better coffee, a cooler environment or the nicest staff and owners! I met the owner before they opened and remember how remarkable his friendly personality was, and how I secretly hoped he could make it even though downtown Petoskey is a tough economic environment in the winter and then North Perk opened and followed up on the promise of great coffee and service. My wife and I love to bring our little one in and enjoy a view of the park or duck in for a snuggle in a booth over warm coffee after a photo shoot. They have earned a lifelong customer in me, and I hope the summer flood of tourists keeps them plenty busy! read more
